This places pizza was some of the best I have ever had. I found it randomly just walking around, but it did nothing but exceed my expectations. First off the atmosphere alone was great, it was very trendy and simple but still a little classy. We ordered the barbecue chicken pizza in the size large and it was just enough to feed four pretty big guys at a price of 30$. The bacon was cooked to perfection and served as a somewhat thin style pizza. The flavor jam packed pizza was also very original in the fact that it had it's own style but nothing too crazy. My friend and I dropped into URBN tonight after our yoga class to get some awesome food and drinks. I remember going to the North Park location several years ago and really enjoying it, but tonight the pizza blew me away. We ordered a custom pizza on gluten-free crust and it was fabulous. Having been gluten-free since 2012, I have had a variety of gluten-free crusts. I could not believe the pizza I was eating was not their normal crust as it was thin, flexible, and crispy just like one would expect from a coal fired pizza. It was unbelievably delicious and I will most definitely be back! The one star loss is due to the flow of their location. You enter the front door and line up literally against the bar where other customers are eating and attempting to enjoy a meal. It was difficult not to disturb the other customers while waiting to order. It can be very congested and hard to move around when it's busy. Other than that, no complaints here! read more

The pizza at URBN is really good. I had the eggplant pizza. I can name something better than the pizza at URBN Encinitas, the customer service. Madison, an employee, gave a 5 star experience. Madison is very personable, and intelligent. I was on a tinder date and we decided to go to urban Encinitas. My date wanted a glass of wine, and I don't drink. When I ordered the food I got the wine and asked if they could make my drink look alcoholic. When Madison delivered our drinks, she gave my date the wine, and said "here's your alcoholic beverage" when she sat mine down. my cover was blown when my date tried my drink, but Madison did her part. Winning! The entire staff at URBN Encinitas was very cool, but Madison is now my favorite employee because she had my back. In case you were wondering how my Tinder date went well. It was fun! Long line, no hostess, no communication, no menus handed out upon arrival, crowded bar with employees drinking at the bar while working and serving drinks and food. When we called to tell them the pizza was burnt, and I'm talking extra black on the bottom and completely black crust on the edges, and unevenly cooked - not charred or crispy - their answer was, "It is supposed to be that way" No, it is not. This is bullshit. i have had it before. it tasted like burnt, not good at all. They were not willing to replace it. Horrible customer service and obviously they don't care about repeat business or their local customers or thei reputation. Avoid it. I would give a zero if I could. I ordered a half and half pizza, and Urbn delivered a cold pizza with the same toppings throughout the pizza. I called Urbn about it, and the female who answered said that they are challenged with half and half pizzas as they have difficulty reading their website. She also said that there was nothing that they could do about their own mistake. So, they can not follow the order on their own website, they have no customer service, and they deliver cold soggy pizza. That is a bad combination for a pizza restaurant. This is definitely not like it's sister restaurant in North Park. This is a smaller space which I didn't mind, however the menu is much smaller. Some of the favorites are on the menu such as the mashed potato pizza, but you are missing staples like wings! I understand the kitchen is smaller so this may be the reason. Beer selection is also a lot thinner than most places. With the restaurant being in the heart of the Encinitas strip, I expected more selections. Our waitress was nice but it didn't appear like she was having a good day. Something was off and I could feel it for sure. Everyone is entitled to be human so this won't stop me from going back. 3 stars is mainly due to the menu for food and beer. Decided to eat here on the fly. Encinitas turns into a sleepy old town after 9 pm. This place was still open to accommodate me and a +1. Despite closing soon, they did not rush us AT ALL. The pizza was delicious and the staff were attentive however, not hovering. I like that. There is nothing worse than getting into a deep conversation to be asked "Need more tea?" Well done URBN. We had a small dinner party at our house so we ordered URBN for delivery through PostMates. It took almost 90 minutes, both pizzas were completely wrong, called URBN, manager downplayed that pizzas were both wrong saying he saw the order and only the sauce was wrong, not a big deal he said. Pizza was ordered without sauce due to allergy, both pizzas arrived with sauce and wrong toppings so I'm not sure why it's not a big deal. Manager (V) refused to take any sort of responsibility, two pizzas cost $65, and didn't even get an apology for being sent completely wrong order. Won't ever go back, have mentioned this to as many people in Cardiff as possible. There are much more professional places to spend your money in this area, DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF GOING TO URBN!! read more

First off I have to say pizza was amazing! Sauce and dough were perfection! The reason for their 3 stars is for the service. We ordered a salad which was great, a slice of cheese for our son which came out fast but our small pizza sat in a box behind the counter for at least 30 min. We had to ask what happened to our order and they finally told us they accidentally boxed it to go. To be fair they did refund us some of our money. They reheated our pizza and we ended up taking it to go because our one year old had waited patiently enough in the restaurant. My suggestion is to get a restaurant manager or retrain staff... either way I think we will go elsewhere in the future as it seems like waiting a while is not uncommon for this place. read more

We do love their pizza and salads but things have changed. They dropped the Caprezanella salad, supply chain issue? And the pizza being coal fired actually had coal chips in it. On the very day that my date and I ventured into Encinitas for the purpose of visiting URBN, there just so happened to be a Switchfoot concert in the process of just letting out. You know Switchfoot, the vaguely Christian, vaguely alternative, vaguely rock band with the one song? It's the kind of thing that North County folk eat up, and, as a result, many of them also chose to eat up some pizza at URBN. After sitting at the seemingly only two empty positions at a counter, it took quite a while to get menus and also a while to order and then to get our pizza. We split the pizza half polpetta con provolone--Italian for fancy meatballs and cheese I guess--and half salami. The toppings were pretty great on their own, but, as part of the pizza, we couldn't really taste the flavor thanks to the extreme amount of charcoal on the crust due to the wood-fire preparation. I had previously been to another URBN location, and, just like then, I left fairly disappointed with the experience. Summary: Pizza lovers, you were meant for so much more. read more

First : I like to say thank you for the very friendly greetings at the door as we entered and excellent service! Second : I beg of you to get air conditioning! The dining room was at least 90°. Third : PLEASE add more cheese to your Margarita pizza!!! 4 table spoons of cheese is not enough! All we taste is sauce and mildly burnt crust. We've had our share of Margarita, at other places, and you by far are the most conservative with the cheese. Fourth : I will try your place one more time. My husband and I came here recently and had a wonderful experience! We came in on a Friday night around 8pm and got seated right away. We ordered the Italian chopped salad and a large pizza. The pizza came out on a huge tray! Something really unique that you don't see often. We ate as much as we could and took the rest home. The restaurant has a great casual beach vibe. Great place to grab a beer and a bite to eat, especially if you just came off the beach. Definitely glad we tried it and we will be back! read more

When URBN is firing on all cylinders it's 5 stars but unfortunately that's rare. If my SO suggests going there or ordering takeout I'm always reluctant because the service and food are so inconsistent. The mashed potato pie is a thing of dreams unless it arrives after it's been sitting around in the kitchen and it's already dried out. I've had a delicious peppered salami pie and one with half as many toppings. I've had a pizza that was absolutely charred to a crisp and they just served it to us like nothing was wrong. I love the chopped Italian salad but one DoorDash order it arrived with no dressing. No quality control at all. The restaurant has changed up the host stand and service style a few times since it's opened but nothing has really stuck in terms of improving the customer experience. So many reviews here say the same thing so I guess the owners just don't care? read more

I placed my order through yelp which I would think is comparable to ordering through the phone. 45 minutes after I placed my order I go to pick up my pizza to find out that it's not ready and was told they prioritize Grubhub orders over yelp orders. Let me start by saying we have frequented the Vista location several times and have had a great experience and fantastic food, so I was excited to try to new Encinitas location that's a bit closer to home. We arrived early evening on a Sunday (5:00pm) and there was plenty of seating available. The waitress/hostess told us to grab a table and she'd be right up to bring us menus. It was at least 5 minutes before she showed up with the menus and it seemed like she couldn't be bothered by us. It only went downhill from there.... We ordered the URBN salad - one of my absolute favorites, the Mashed Potato Pie (very tasty), and our daughter wanted a pepperoni pizza "hold the cheese" (yeah, I don't know why my kid doesn't eat cheese, but whatever. The waitress said that wouldn't be a problem). First off, the prices seem a bit higher than the Vista location . The small salad was much smaller than I had remember for the price. But still, one of my favorites and very good. I would come back again for the salad alone. Then our pizzas came out. The cheese-less pizza we ordered didn't have any mozzarella on it, but the entire thing was sprinkled with a lot of Parmesan on top. Not sure what part of "no cheese" didn't translate. But my kid got over it and picked off what she could. But then the service just kept getting worse. My husband asked for a beer - it never came. We never received refills on our waters (yes, I know there's a drought, but I would have liked some more water to drink since my glass was empty before the food came), and the waitress never came to check on us. We finally had to ask for our bill - and when it finally arrived, the waitress never came back to take our credit card. We had to walk up and pay at the bar. Now, maybe it's one of those places where you pay up front, but our waitress never mentioned anything. So yes, the food is good if they get your order right, but the service was some of the worst I'd ever experienced. Since they're still relatively new in that location, I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and try again in a few months. Hopefully they can get the service figured out. read more

URBN has real potential. The concept and the food itself are promising. The place is not ventilated properly which makes for an uncomfortable space when it's even mildly warm. The wait staff are a bit clueless. It took 20 mins to sort out a billing error though they did kindly take money off for the inconvenience. Lastly, the beer is very average.
