The food was amazing! The char on the dough makes it something special. The staff is friendly and kind. THANKS Definitely recommend!

A thin crust pizza sent straight from heaven. At least that's what it felt like eating this one! I didn't know what to expect based on some mixed (though generally positive) reviews but I'm happy my hubby dragged me there because the pizza was even better than expected. Everything was well-balanced taste wise and the parmed eggplant was a nice surprise, a bit crunchy and frankly delish. The cheese was good and too, and the sauce was just right. The thin crust was perfect, slightly charred but not too much. The medium pizza (they have only two sizes, medium and humongous) was perfect to share between 2 hungry people, or maybe 3 regular people who aren't looking to stuff their faces. I honestly never knew just how much I loved thin crust until I walked into URBN. The formula is simple and the output tastes great. This meets all the check boxes for me. Next time I'm in Encinitas, I'll definitely stop by again. Totally worth it!

URBN Encinitas serves New Haven-style thin crust pizza. A small looks huge and takes up an entire tray. I thought I would have leftovers, but because it's a very thin crust, the two us easily ate one. This is a casual spot, where you order at the counter and find a table. Things were pretty chill during a weekday lunch. We got a small Eggplant Parm ($24). I liked the red sauce and was surprised that the pizza didn't get too soggy given how paper thin the crust was. I would totally come back here and try some other pizzas. There was an earlier review complaining about the state of the restroom. I found it to be very clean, so don't let that one prevent you from coming here.

Stopped by during a Cruise Night on the 101. Super fast service which was excellent for my hangry toddlers. Good spot for families and kids, without some outdoor seating. Pepperoni pizza was yummy - only negatives were greasy top and soggy crust. Small size is HUGE. We definitely enjoyed it. The Italian chopped salad was so good, I could eat this every day.

Super nice staff, but found the fattest hair in my pizza was really sad

    The best pizza ever

If I could give this place 60 stars I would. I thought I had already reviewed URBN but I was wrong. This is the best pizza I've had in California to date. If I've said any other place was better I take it back. It's the closest to Sally's from New Haven Connecticut that I have encountered. The location near the beach is ideal. The place is comfy and easy to get to. The staff is friendly and everyone from the cook to the front counter is involved. Honestly cannot recommend this place enough. My gf says luckily we're not close or I'd be there all the time. She right, I would.

My favorite stop on my recent trip to the San Diego area…read more Encinitas Fish Shop was recommended by one of my local SD work colleagues. I grabbed an Uber after work on a Thursday and headed north 11 miles. As I arrived at the Fish Shop, I could smell the goodness inside and saw the line waiting to order. The restaurant is on one side, with an open bar on the other. Ordering is as simple as 1, 2, 3. Pick your fish, pick how you want to consume it (plate, sandwich, salad), and pick your sides and drink. I went with my work colleagues recommendation of a blackened sea bass sandwich with onion rings and a Marg. That choice was FANTASTIC!!! You seat yourself once you order and place the buzzer given to you by the counter person on the unit on your table. Although busy, there were still tables available (bar and restaurant, plus out front). As the NBA playoffs were on, I sat inside. Everyone working here was friendly and as I already stated... my meal was the best I had on this San Diego visit. A bonus was a gorgeous sunset just 3 blocks down from the shop. I will be back to Encinitas Fish Shop when I next visit San Diego.

Overall, Encinitas Fish Shop has great seafood, but the supporting ingredients don't match the quality of the fish. The portions are generous. Yellowtail Taco - 3.5/5. The yellowtail was prepared with Cajun blackened seasoning. The fish itself was fresh and expertly cooked, with excellent texture, moisture, and doneness. Unfortunately, the rest of the taco didn't match the quality of the seafood. The tortillas, cabbage, and tomatoes tasted like standard, possibly low-grade ingredients from a typical food-service supplier. The tomatoes lacked sweetness and juiciness, while the tortillas were somewhat dry. On the positive side, the salsa was above average and complemented the fish well. Shrimp Taco - 3.5/5. My thoughts on the shrimp taco were very similar. The shrimp were fresh, high-quality, and cooked well. They remained succulent and juicy, making them the highlight of the taco. However, the supporting ingredients once again held the dish back. Better-quality tortillas and produce would have significantly elevated the overall experience. Albacore Taco - 2.5/5. The menu describes the albacore as "seared rare," but what I received was closer to mostly raw chunks of fish with only a light sear on the exterior. The fish itself was fresh and of good quality, but the pieces were cut quite thick, making the minimal sear even more noticeable. The result felt more like eating sashimi in a taco than a properly seared rare albacore taco. Thinner cuts, a more aggressive sear, or both would improve the balance of texture and flavor. Encinitas Fish Shop serves fresh, high-quality seafood and generally does an excellent job preparing the fish itself. The seafood was consistently the strongest part of every taco we tried. My main criticisms are that the "seared rare" albacore could be executed more effectively, and the tacos would benefit greatly from higher-quality supporting ingredients. With fresher tortillas and produce, these tacos could go from good to truly outstanding.

We ended up grabbing seats at the bar, which was a great choice. We ordered the: *Fig Burger with Brussels Sprouts: the Brussels sprouts were phenomenal. They had what tasted like pecans, some kind of glaze, and cheese... seriously so good. The Fig Burger itself was just as impressive with such a unique combo and absolutely delicious. *Steak Sandwich with Onion Rings: this was also a standout. Perfectly cooked, super flavorful, and came with a great dipping sauce that really tied it all together. The onion rings were crispy and on point too. First off, I love that they offer a variety of sides (sweet potato fries, truffle fries, mac & cheese, Brussels sprouts, etc.), though most come with a small upcharge. We had a few drinks and even grabbed a bottle of wine from the bar to take back to our Airbnb, which was a nice bonus. The vibe was relaxed with TVs playing highlights from a basketball game, and the bartender/server was awesome. Parking was easy with free street parking, though that might've been because it was late and a holiday. Only heads up: definitely call ahead about kitchen and closing times, especially on holidays. Online said they close at midnight, but they were actually closing at 11 PM. We were told over the phone the kitchen closed at 9:45 PM, but when we arrived at 9:30 PM, it had just switched to last call. Thankfully, they were kind enough to still get our order in. Overall, phenomenal food, great service, and a solid spot worth checking out. Would definitely come back.
