I picked up a 80's vintage, colt 1911 that needed a little help before I took it out to shoot it. so I took a friends recommendation and stopped in to get the work done at U S Firearms in Sunnyvale. What a great find !!! in the case was your standard offerings of Glock type guns but the other case had nothing but high end 1911's.....very nice...... They took in my Colt, and the gunsmith called me back with his report, and a couple of days later I had it back. They did excellent work in Blending, bead blasting and refinishing the tail end and reworked the sear for a better trigger pull (that was very good in the first place). So my fiance and I came from san leandro to this location because we seen it had great reviews. Soon as we walked in we were greated immediately and told someone would be with us shortly, not even 1 min later we were helped which was awesome. Eric first started helping me and me being new to the recent firearm i purchased eric explained the benefits of the lock i asked for and made me feel very comfortable purchasing it. Mike then took over to help me complete my AR setup with some iron sights. He went over in detail with different manufacturers and other optics as well to help me find something that would fit me. The customer service i received today deserves more than 5 stars thats for sure. No one tried to upsale me or use pushy sales tactics on me. This is a great outfit with a ton of potential. The customer service was wonderful which is not the norm for local gun shops. I asked to have some work performed on a birthday gift for my father and Eric took care of it within two hours. Again, great customer service. I have been to a number of gun stores in the bay area and have invariably ran into cocky and condescending personnel that seem too busy to answer a couple questions and push THEIR personal preference when asked for a recommendation. U.S. Firearms is completely different. I visited to check things out and right away notice the above and beyond customer service. These guys did not mind at all spending time helping me, although I wasn't ready to make a purchase. They shared their extensive expertise and walked me through the process of selecting the firearm that is right for ME. They also stress the fundamentals of safe, legal and responsible firearm ownership and even hook you up with low cost classroom instruction. It cannot get any better than that. Oh, it actually can: they offer a flexible layaway option that helped me get a great quality rifle that I love. Mike walked me through the basics of its operation and Eric followed up on this and even lubed it for me to have it ready for first day at range. He gave me advise on the cleaning and maintenance of it and recommended specific products for this. I even bought a good quality magazine that Eric modified. These guys seriously know what they're doing and, I kid you not, they spent several hours helping me through the process and always with a smile on their face. I though that all of the above came with a much deserved mark up and was surprised when I looked up my rifle online to show it to a friend and found that I paid just MSRP for it. I am currently on the market for a 1911 .45 and plan to visit these guys in the next couple of weeks. i see people being concerned with parking, but there is plenty behind the store. I was recomended to go see Erick (owner of shop) and he was so helpful to solve the problem on my gun that another very respectful shop just didnt have the time to do the work, I am just very happy with all of the service he and his team did for me. This place is top shelf with the best staff. I decided I wanted to get back into target shooting after some 40 years (boy scout camp) and bb guns, and living overseas in a country that doesn't allow guns. I did some research on the web, and decided that I would start with 22 rifles and pistols, and take some lessons. Went to US Firearms based on the reviews here, and they took their time explaining everything to me about explaining why I was making a good decision. I must have spent two hours with Eric and his staff asking questions, some silly, and they were very patience, and I could see that they were very helpful to all of their other customers also. Signed up for the pistol and rifle course. Eric explained all the different choices of 22 pistols and 1911 45 that I wanted to shoot. I also asked about skeet and sporting clays, and they made a recommendation about Coyote Valley to go there to learn. I came back in to get shells for the shotgun course, and Eric spent time showing me how to use a shotgun, no charge. I was totally impressed with their customer service and staff, and wish I could have a customer service staff that good. I have ordered a shotgun through them, which is left handed, and went over the various models available. They didn't recommend the most expensive one, but did explain the differences. They were very prompt in letting me know when it would be here. I have since order a pistol, and a rifle. They only carry good-high quality stuff, which I appreciate. I would not buy a gun at walmart. Guns are a dangerous piece of equipment, and I want something that is going to last and not fall apart. Eric makes sure that everything they sell meets that requirement. They even offer a special intro course when you buy a new gun from them, including going to the range and making sure you know how to use your new gun. If you want to get into shooting, or are already shooting, go to this store. We need to support stores that provide this kind of service and quality equipment. From what I understand, Eric is also an excellent gunsmith and pistol marksman, so he speaks from experince. When I get ready to move into long range target shooting, they will be building my rifle, at a reasonable price, but excellent quality. Go visit the store, they are the best. read more

I'll start with the good first. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Decent selection of firearms and parts. Not the best selection, but not the worst selection either. I'd been in there a few times and have bought items from them, including a firearm. But, now the bad, the last time I was in, will likely be the last time I'm in. The problem lay in the handling of firearms. Granted they are all empty - in theory - since I never personally checked them, I would actually have to assume they were loaded. That being said, I was appalled to see both customers and staff ignoring basic safety and allowing weapon muzzles to cross bodies and standing in front of the muzzles while the customer checked the sights, etc. As an NRA Certified Instructor, this is VERY disturbing. read more

Took a bolt gun in for some work on a Saturday about an hour before closing time and was politely greeted just moments after entry. The fella at the counter informed me that he was available to answer any questions I might have and did so in a way that was not sales pressured. I informed the associate about the detail involving my rifle and he promptly put me in contact with the in house smithy who came forward to the sales counter to assist me in my needs. My brief experience with US Firearms Co was horrible to say the least. I came in to get my Leupold scope mounted and bore sighted for my Remington 700. When I first walked in, I talked to some guy who said the owner would be available shortly after his task was finish. After 15 minutes or so I finally met the guy. The first question he ask me was how much did I buy the scope. He nodded his his head and said next time before i buy a scope I should have came to him first so i quote "I don't wast my money on buying another scope." Jeez great customer service! So I nodded back okay next time I might have to take him up on that offer. He went in the back and went to town with my rifle while dealing with other customers every so often. Which I felt like they really didn't value me and my rifle. I ask about getting a compensator for the rifle which they offer and maybe a better trigger. He said you might be better off getting one of their rifle that they were selling at outrageous price bc he said i quote "you can modify a Pontiac all you want but it will never be a Chevy." Like dude wtf. I'm spending money with you quite trying to insult my rifle. After all was said and done I came home to check my rifle only to discover a deep gash by the mount which was not there before I brought in my rifle. FML. I would never go back to this place. I came in to US Firearms having never been here before - or to be honest hadn't heard of it until I checked Yelp. I had tried to put a different barrel and slide on my handgun, and got half way through and was stuck, and could neither complete the mod or reverse it. I went into the shop and told them the situation. I expected to be charged, and was almost anticipating about a $50 charge. The owner came back minutes later having fixed the problem and telling / showing me what I did wrong. I asked what the charge was and was pleasantly surprised to hear him say no charge. I then started talking to one of the employees, asking questions, looking around, and he was very pleasant - even before I was inquiring into buying anything. Everyone was very pleasant. I bought A 9mm S&W there and found out after I, bought it, I found out it was next to impossible to load it by hand. They don't seem to have A return policy. Said they couldn't because it was already registered to me. I didn't want to buy the tool for loading it. At least not from them. Walked in here today while getting my car aligned down the street, all I have to say is WOW! This store is everything and more then what I expect to see when walking into a place I want to do business with. The first thing I noticed is that I was actually greeted with a "hello and how are you doing?" even though the gentlemen behind the counter was working with another customer. This was probably the first time I had ever been greeted entering a gun store. Most of the stores on the peninsula have a chip on their shoulder, this place obviously did not. I browsed around for a minute and already pick out about 5 items I was going to purchase today. They had tons of Magpul products in stock, and at a very reasonable price (looked at the internet price when I got home, and US Firearms was actually cheaper). I always expect to pay more at store front location, but CHEAPER??? I was shocked! I mentioned to the owner Eric, that I was interested in a certain very hard to find rifle. He responded by telling me he had two on order and only one was spoken for. I immediately jumped on the other one! I have been up and down the peninsula looking for this rifle, no other store had it, nor was willing to even order upon request. A certain place in Pacific, not to mention names, told me to show them the cash before they would even consider telling me a price on this same rifle. Really? I left a down payment, and I can't wait until my rifle arrives! The store obviously just opened within the past few months, but for being so new, I was surprised with the amount of products they had in stock. I learned a lot today from Eric about my own rifle, as well as tons of information on a few handguns I was inquiring about! I feel like I was lucky to find this place! If it wasn't for an alignment on my car, I would still be going to the same old disappointing stores. I am more than willing to make the drive from SF here to do all my business in the future. I was having some trouble with a recently purchased shotgun so I brought it in to U.S. Firearms Co to have them take a look. They couldn't have been nicer. At some places the guys behind the counter have an attitude like you should feel lucky they're even talking to you. Not this place. They let me look at a few rifles while I was waiting, engaged me in friendly conversation, and treated me respectfully. When Eric brought my shotgun out, he explained what he had done, showed me how to do it myself, added a little gun lube and didn't charge me for the help. I've been a to a number of Gunshops in my time (Kerleys, Reeds, Gun vault)and none of them stack up to US Firearms Co. As a resident of Sunnyvale I was excited to find out we got a local Gunshop, so I went to check it out. Eric and Josh were very professional and knowledgable about a lot of different products and the level of customer service has been without parallel thus far. I have a number of buddies that i shoot with and we've bought ruger 10/22's, SKS' and are starting to build up some AR's with parts from US Firearms. It would be safe to say we will continue to shop here due to how Eric treats his customers. Pricing is very fair and the selection is good and is continuing to grow. They have AR's and remington 700's to WW2 m1 Carbine's, Garand's and Springfield 03A3's. As far as pistols go, there are Glocks, Sig's, Springfields all the way up to Les Baeur 1911's. There's also a smattering of revolver's, surefire lights and rail systems, Benchmade and Strider knives.
