I'm a big fan of the U.S. Chef's Store. They carry bulk and hard to find items that are perfect when you're entertaining. I especially like the quality of their meat, along with the wide variety of coffee syrups and flavorings. Almost every time I visit, I see restaurant and food truck owners shopping there, which says a lot about the quality and selection. It's always worth a stop when I'm planning a gathering or just want to stock up. Check it out. read more

We stopped by the IS Food Chef Store located on Kietzke Lane. When we arrived at the store, there were a few people shops around but not over crowded; the store is very quiet and unassuming. Most of the employees are at the register with a couple here and there walking about or stocking the shelves. The store boasts a huge inventory of meats including but not limited to a variety of steaks, sausages and cold cuts, cheeses, desserts, condiments, seasonings, even baking and cookware, and everything else in between. The prices were decent, some items cost less than in other stores; some the same. Overall, this was good initial visit; actually, I've been here before but it's been a while since my last visit. I will definitely have to check this place out again when I have more time to peruse the other isles. read more

We discovered this store a couple of months ago and I was THRILLED to find original German, spreadable Leberwurst which I miss sooooo much and of course, I stocked up for a couple of months plus some other items I found I needed. I find you get good quality for money which I am willing to pay. One thing I would LOVE to see in the store is German sauerkraut and German pickles plus German rotkohl including German or Polish salad (in jars), I would purchase from you if you had those items available because I eat quite a lot of those items. read more

Several years ago my wife decided to try and save money by making her own coffee instead of buying it daily. We knew this place was a supplier for local restaurants and thought we would check it out. We have visited before and on occasion a location where we used to live in Oregon. We discovered they have a large supply of flavored coffee syrups from several different suppliers. In most cases they are less expensive than purchasing elsewhere. They also have many other items, mostly in larger quantities such as meat, cheese, condiments, frozen food, containers and commercial kitchen utensils and supplies. We have found this is the best place to purchase aluminum cooking containers, wood pellets and coffee syrup. It is seldom very busy and we recommend checking it out. read more

I've been a regular customer at this store for years and never had any issues--until Shelley became the manager. My first interaction with her was when I mentioned that a bottle of lemon juice fell off the cart and broke because it had been packed improperly. When I asked why it wasn't packed better, she dismissed my concern. Since then, she has consistently profiled me. I even started avoiding her by letting others go ahead of me so I wouldn't have to interact with her. One day, I suspected I had been double-charged and approached her with the receipt, explaining that I hadn't even left the store yet. She responded by saying she'd have to check the cameras--after dealing with her long line of customers--to verify if I was telling the truth. When I told her I didn't like dealing with her, she replied, "Too bad, I'm the manager, and I'm the only one who can give refunds." I asked for the corporate number, but she refused to provide it. I ended up calling the store to get the information but wasn't successful, so I reached out to the district manager, who seemed to blow it off. I can't help but wonder if this treatment is because I'm a Black man, as this isn't the first time I've felt targeted by her. read more

In my last review I was giving kudos to the cashier well today I don't know if he has a title or not but his name is Jaxon I think that's how he spelled it he was absolutely wonderful today I was at one end of the store when I came across him and I asked him where the sodas were you know how I always complain about people just pointing in a direction and going oh it's over there well he stopped what he was doing because he was working he was doing that he was like straight or stuck in the shelves he said here I will take you and he walked me clear across the store and showed me where the two separate kinds of sodas were! I was amazed and I told him that I thought that was fantastic but if you don't want to go to Costco and deal with that whole fiasco LOL no it's not really fiasco it's just so big and so crazy in there this little place is you can see in the pictures has got all these items in bulk it's good quality and it's a good price I mean look at those strawberries oh my goodness they are huge red beautiful yum I just wanted to update my last review and add him on this for people to read about and when you go in there and you happen to see him tell him good job read more

My wife and I have been loyal customers of this store for several years and have never had any issues with the staff. All the employees are always friendly and do their best to help. We truly appreciate that! To be honest, I hesitated to write this review - maybe I misunderstood the situation. But after reading reviews on Yelp, I realized that we are not the only ones who have experienced outright rudeness from the manager, Shelley. In short, a few days ago, we purchased expired Mortadella without noticing the date on the packaging, which is already a violation on the store's part. I've never had issues returning items before, so I simply took the spoiled mortadella out of the fridge, put it in my car, and planned to return it to the store after work. However, when we brought it back, Shelley stormed out of her office and, in a tone "do you understand?" declaring that she wouldn't accept the return because the product's temperature was above 40°F, which goes against store policy. She completely ignored my attempts to explain that the item was already spoiled at the time of purchase. When I pointed out the expiration date, she accused us of removing the date from the packaging! During the entire two-minute exchange, her tone made it clear that she had no intention of discussing the matter further and considered the conversation over. To make things worse, when my wife went to the register with a few other items, Shelley rudely asked, "Are you going to buy this, or will I just cancel your order?"--essentially telling us to leave. What kind of behavior is that? Needless to say, she didn't even make the slightest attempt to apologize to the customer for the inconvenience caused? Everything happened in the tone - we have the store's policy and this is your problem. She behaved extremely arrogantly, making it clear with her whole appearance that she is the boss, and if we don't like something, then we don't have to buy anything here. These are definitely not the emotions that people need after a long day at work. I work with a lot of people and different teams, and I have never encountered a manager who spoke to people this way. This completely unprofessional behavior is completely unacceptable--especially in customer service! read more

I come to this place 3-4 times a week. Never had I had a problem with one of their employees until now. I would never have thought I would have to leave a review like this for this store. The experience I had with one of the employees name Katie really struck me as a customer. I left my cart in the meat cooler because I was obviously shopping for heavy meats. I received a phone call from my boss and Katie yelled at me from across the cooler "you can't leave your cart in here when I am moving pallets!!!". So when I got off the phone I went up to her and said "good morning to you too". Then I asked for her name, she gestured to her shirt and I gave this complaint to Claudia at the front of the store. Overall I would always give this store 5 stars but this experience really rubbed me the wrong way. Customer service is one of the core principles in running a business and when a employee acts like that it really makes you wonder if you should bring your business elsewhere. I have been in here a couple of times, both times to pick up a giant package of lunch size bags of chips. We make about 20 sack lunches a week, and were looking for the best price on bags of chips for these lunches. I found a 50 bag package including Fritos, Doritos, Cheetos, and more, for under $15! I quickly browsed the store the first time I was there, and they have a large variety of items in larger quantities. If you want to gallon size can of beans, they have it! If you need a 50 pound sack of flour, it's there! I wasn't looking for any of that, so I can't tell you a lot about their other items. I do believe the prices are excellent, at least I know for sure about the chips prices. I only gave them four stars because they don't have a huge selection of lunch size chips bags. I recommend you stroll in here sometime, and check out the other items that they have. This used to be the smart and final store. It is a very large warehouse style store. This was our first hit of our day. We had never been here before but had heard it was great. be we had not heard that is was GREAT!!! Which it is. This is basically a small restaurant supply place that is open to the public. We thought we may get a 5lb bag of cheese ($12 for sharp cheddar real cheese) and some sort of pasta thing to help our shopping list...But BAM! This is a not so well known gem out there! So yeah we ended up going crazy. Spent some bills here but it was not as painful as Costco and the sizes were more reasonable and quality seems mainly better! We ended up with a huge can of dolmades and tzatziki by Opa for a total of about $22. We got a jumbo bag of some of the best raviolis that I have seen for about $8 (5-6 times those $5 bags at the other stores and better quality). We also picked up about 3lbs of roasted and sliced turkey breast lunch meat for about $10...with none of the shady additives! They are having a sale on new York slabs for 25% off of 6.50 a lb (so about $5 a lb today...that's about $60 for a whole side of NY steaks!!!!) I could go on and on but I am baking my $10 bucket of chocolate chip cookies so I can feed the whole damned neighborhood! I will warn you that, while reasonably nice, the staff knows surprisingly little as to what they have and where. I had to find my own tzatziki dressing...But they were nice at least and I can forgive almost anything for the prices, quality, and selection! So if you want awesome go check it out. I know a lot of people that have never set foot in this store because they think it's another club like Costco or Sam's, and I'm here to dispel the myth! When you want or need larger quantities for a big party or event and don't want to deal with the longer lines and massive square footage of the other guys, this is your one stop shop! Extra large bottles of Sriracha? Giant jar of mayo? Whole briskets or pork shoulders for the smoker? Harder to find dairy like buttermilk? Perfect paper goods and plasticware? Fresh produce from organic spring mix, to radishes, romaine, and more? Chaffing dishes and other cooking and catering equipment? They've got it all! I learned about the store from friends in the industry when I was managing Z-Pie and it's been my ace in the hole ever since. The first time you come, the store can be a bit daunting, but the staff are incredibly helpful and will guide you toward any product you need. The only downside is that because restaurant owners shop here, there can be times when certain items are out of stock. If you visit a few times, you'll quickly learn what that looks like, and the staff will even tell you when deliveries happen so you can plan around it. Better yet, if you need something for a special party, Cash and Carry will even take orders! Now you're not going to find local meat, a huge selection of organic products, and the seafood they sell, if any, is frozen, but you'll find a whole lot of the staples available at great prices in an easy to shop atmosphere. My husband and I moved here three years ago. We had one where we lived before and so happy to find the Chef's Store here!!!! The meat is awesome, much better quality then you can find the stores. We love going there and stocking up on our beef. We just had a beef roast (Prime Rib) it was awesome very tender we cut it with our forks also got some real nice steaks. I am spoiled so I won't buy any beef from the store. Excellent choice to get real good beef. It might be a little more then buying it at the store as their cuts are big and you must come home and cut it the way you want it. Like steaks & roast easy to do just have a sharp knife. read more

Shopping for a restaurant is always a challenge... try doing it when the restaurant is inside of a high school!! Squeeky tight budget..... Cash and Carry has been a lifesaver. They are open early and on all the holidays!! They defiantly let you know when you come in close to closing that you only have a few minutes to get your items. You do not need a membership card, just a large trunk to hold everything you get! They carry what Costco does not!! You can "split cases" here and not be stuck with 5 extra #10 cans of something! They have a large freezer area. Walk into it to see your options. It is not just full of what is showing in the glass windows. Par-baked dough's.....all offal meats.....whole lambs, goats, chickens are available. Lots and lots of frozen potato products and of course ice cream. The meat walk in is always a delight. Full cuts of pork and beef for a variety of selection. There usually is choice and select grades along with some mixes of different cuts. Check the package dates. Buying by the case lot is cheaper, but you do not have to. A full dairy selection is also available with whole and sliced cheeses. Produce is hit and miss. Do not go here expecting the same quality week after week. When they have a "hot sheet item" it sells out quickly. Most produce must be bought in the case lots. Check your cases before leaving for poor product. Service items are definitely a large portion of their business. Cups, plates, utensils in all forms....paper/ plastic/ foam. They have a HUGE selection of gloves. All sizes and styles. Cleaning supplies and a small selection of smallwares is there. Customer service is hit or miss. Depending on the business of the store, they are either really friendly, or just want you out of there. read more

I buy most of my meat here and divide it into meal sizes at home. I love their ready made meals that I can pop in the oven for dinner after work. For instance their battered fish. Frozen cooked ready to eat chicken. Calamari steaks. Yes. They come in large portion boxes which is great for having family and friends over. But easy to take a couple out and cook up while the rest you keep until needed in the freezer. The best part is they are easy in and quickly out. read more

4.5 stars. I dub this the "Winco of Costco",has a nice ring to it, right? It has a more restaurant geared customer base, than say Costco, which has a 19 kids and counting consumer style in my opinion. They have some diverse things that Costco doesn't have, the seafood section has sushi supplies like ebi and tobiko, crystal shrimp and calamari etc, and I think ahi tuna. They have a big refrigerator and ice cream freezer as well as quite a few condiment aisles. Though they don't have everything, they have a little bit of a lot of things. Especially a small section of restaurant equipment, like busing bins, prep containers and restaurant dishware. I spied one of those old greasy diner brown coffee cups, Imma need to go back and buy a couple so I can reminisce about getting picked up by my Grandpa and hitting the local smoky casino coffee shop on the weekend mornings. They have things for softball concession stands like jerky tubs and lots of candy. Some eco/green friendly items in the paper goods and cleaning sections. Lastly, they have Clamato, and by the flat, it was a little over $35, which is cheaper than I pay through Amazon subscription (Yes, I have a problem). I can see coming back for BBQ season and getting big portions of meats for grilling too. The savings market and grocer to beat them all? Well, maybe, sort of almost kinda! There are a lot of super cool things I like about this market and only a few minor takeaways. Let's start with the hits: meats, poultry, and overall ready to go for the person having a heckuva big BBQ gathering or the small restaurateur, they've really got the meats! A walk in reefer with large chubs of beef and poultry roasts, all manner of other items. They've another section of frozen foods in the front as well with poultry in packages of evenly sized breast meats and the likes. They do not have a butcher in house, that's a little sad, but their products are cart ready and waiting. They carry all manner of canned goods, condiments, and cleaning supplies. They even carry to go containers, styrofoam, and precut sandwich wrappers and in numerous and varied choices. Oh yeah wait, I mentioned takeaways. Okay, so it's not located on the side of Reno you take the in-laws when you want to show how great a city Reno really is. Also the market is an older building so it has a mildly dingy appearance, but with that said it is still clean. Finishing up, this is a one stop shop with incredible prices! If it were closer it would almost be my personal exclusive one stop shop for groceries. How have I not been here before? I organize a Yelp "Feed The Hungry" event and often find myself in search of say....600 meatballs or 160 hot dogs or 12 lbs of shredded cheddar cheese. I've shopped at a number of different bulk shopping places in town, so while I was in the neighborhood, decided to pop in. Some great options here for buying industrial sized anything - and apparently I was the only one in the store not rolling around with a giant trolley hauling 37 lb hunks of meat, 8 four-ton bottles of ketchup, a harem of hot dog buns, 987 plastic plates, vats of frozen calamari, a pig's head and a partridge in a pear tree. read more

Cash and Carry is a great store if you are buying for your restaurant, small business, snack shack, and any other type of retail that deals with food and beverage. The store is pretty clean and organized. The staff for the most part is friendly and try to help you to the best of their ability. It was funny the first time I shopped at this store the clerk was a younger guy and he definitely hated his job. Items would not ring up and he would throw a grown up tantrum by cussing and slamming the scanner in the table the register sits on. The prices do tend to fluctuate and are not always cheaper. I do recommend this place because it is convenient, you don't need a membership, and you can find some pretty good buys. If you haven't been to Cash and Carry try it out! read more

I like Cash & Carry, pretty good deals, I mean a lot better than grocery stores and winco and such. But I think Costco still has the better deals. They have a huge range of meats for you to choose from and lots of disposable and keepable kitchen supplies. Theyre stocked with candy, bulk sauces, bulk everything pretty much. Still if you have a costco card you can get better prices on stuff like ribs and bulk candy or something. This location has very very friendly helpful staff so dont hesistate to ask. And I also returned racks and racks of ribs right after I bought it because it was cheaper at Costco and he didnt make a fuss about it. So thats why I like this place too. She was just not very professional and she seemed to take everything I said the wrong way. Everyone else has been very friendly. This store has changed so much since it has changed store managers! The service sucks, they never have anything stocked and there always carts and pallets full of merchandise in the way blocking all the aisles. How do you expect me to get through with an L cart if pallets are in the way. The employees there seem like they hate their job always with a bad attitude and complaining about their job and managers. They honestly need at least 1 Hispanic here to be able to speak to the Latino customers when I send my mom she has trouble communicating with them. We need Jeff and Ralph back! Asap! The prices fluctuate widely from week to week, almost to the point of being phoney. The meat quality is questionable and can be on the verge of being out of date. One assistant manager is a jerk ( short, overweight with mustache. Avoid dealing with him. You can get a better deal by shopping deals at the major supermarkets, and they stand by their products. read more
