I've used this post office for years until recently letters taking more than 3 days to get any where in New York a cross country taking two weeks . They were helpful when a package said it arrived a they called me to confirm as the mail person gave it to me the next day. read more

Literally the most difficult post office I have ever lived next to. I always get notifications that they attempted delivery and left a notice. I have a door man.... They don't actually attempt delivery and so they never actually ever leave a notice. I have to always go there and pick up packages because of this. They also close early all the time. Either update your hours on Google or close when you're supposed to close!!! Please either actually attempt delivery or just say it's available for pick up. This post office is fine. Customer service ranges from warm and helpful to indifferent and a little pushy depending on who you get to help you out. Employees are good about recommending the cheapest way to send something most efficiently. I've shipped many an Ebay package here without much issue. During peak seasons like Christmas, expect to wait quite some time to ship a package. Would highly recommend coming here with a prepaid postage already printed and secured to your package if it's at all possible. Typically at peak times there's one window dedicated to drop off service only, as well as one employee taking care of package pick up which helps move the line along immensely. I prefer this location over the 30th ave one as it's much smaller and that line usually wraps well out the door. read more

Yes 4 stars for the USPS and specifically for this Manhattan location that had such a nice friendly gal window clerk who helped me ship a package to england .I usually do the self service route when visiting any post office but international stuff is window clerk way and I got lucky as the clerk was quick and efficient and lucky me I am the only idiot on line . I've lived in NYC all of my forty five years and this is one of the best post offices I've ever experienced. Lines are never long on weekdays and the staff is efficient. Postal prices are out of hand, but that's not the fault of the staff. My only complaints would be that once their payment machines were out of order and they were only accepting cash. Today they were completely sold out of stamps which seems rather ridiculous for a post office to be out of stamps! I've never used money order or international shipping services, but I've seen plenty of other people using them. No post office is perfect, but this one comes as close as I've ever seen. read more

If you're reading this I bet you are here to vent or get info on your local post office. Either way I encourage you to write usps or take their survey - info on your receipt - and complain and ask them to do better. This place is the worst. And not like normal post office bad but like how is it 2019 and this is what we are still doing bad. Unfortunately this location services the majority of people in this part of Astoria. It's too small for the population. And Sadly it's run so poorly. There is almost always a long line and someone flipping out or upset about something the usps did or lost. There is no self service machine. We need to demand 1. Close 30 ave location or turn that into mostly self service. Apparently our community has to spend $10k or more a year to get a machine. Or so I'm told. Let's contact our city council reps and ask for more. It's old and hot. Not enough employees. Employees can be difficult to understand and communicate with. People are always really upset here. No tape available for free. Like the priority tape. Go across st to $ store and get packing stuff for less. Not reliable: I mailed a card to my sister. And it was mailed to me Instead. I went to mail it again and she never got it. She never gets anything I send her from here. $35 Box of goodies just disappeared. Can't track it. They lost my mail order medications. No one has any idea where they are. Always get a receipt! They deliver the mail to me from school near me. I am clearly not a public school. Not like 1 piece of mail. Like a stack of mail. It's inefficient and antiquated. They often lock door before 5 pm. Or lock you in after 5 so you have to wait for someone to let you out. Just get inside before 5 and you can mail stuff after 5 from inside. 50/50 chance you get an employee who is nice and helpful vs someone who screams at you inaudibly through glass. Like a previous Yelper mentioned, I've always had bad experiences at post offices. The few times that I have been here, the workers there have always been super friendly and very attentive to your needs. I walk out of my way to this particular location due to their great service. read more

Worst post office that I've ever dealt with. Mail is inconsistently delivered. Mail is often damaged. Today, I received mail that had been opened and my mail was soaking wet. The service at this post office and their mail carriers are horrendous. Everyone associated with this post office should be fired. read more

This is probably a USPS location from 1980 that hasn't been updated since. There are no automated machines and no drop boxes for packages, so if you have a package with a prepaid label you need to wait in line to hand it to an agent. And the line is usually pretty long. They are always friendly to me. Worth its weight in gold given it's a place I never actually want to be.

Slow service. The line is always very long. Lost packages. They won't do anything for it. I don't know I saw how many people complained about their lost packages in one visit. Many times they are rude too. I go there because I need to. I would rather not to use USPS for not waiting my time but I just sometimes have no choice. I hope their service improve soon. read more

US Post Office - Post Offices Near Me - Astoria, New York

This is the worst USPS office I have EVER been to. My tracking number said out for delivery, but when package never came it was updated to this: "Awaiting Delivery Scan. The delivery status of your item has not been updated as of August 5, 2018, 1:17 am. We apologize that it may arrive later than expected. " Once I finally got Priscilla Leung, at the Steinway office, to say they lost my package and they had no idea where it was, I contacted the shop to get a refund as it was sent without insurance via the shop so USPS did not have to claim responsibility. The shop wanted to contacted the office to get to the bottom of the issue. The shop then contacted me saying that Priscilla Leung (the SAME women who had told me two days earlier that the package was lost) said the package was at this address: 4304 Broadway Astoria, NY 11103 (the Steinway USPS Office) and could be picked up. I went to the post office with all items needed to pick up package. I spoke with a man called Cruz. He checked for the package and came back telling me it was not here. I told him Priscilla Leung told the store that this package was here and that I could pick it up. I said I wanted to speak with her. He told me she was "on the computer" and that he could not interrupt her. I said she is the only one that knows where this package is. I need to speak with her. When he came back, I asked where Priscilla Leung was and he said that she could not be located at the moment and seems to have stepped out. Needless to say, my package is still lost. If leave in this area, DO NOT use USPS. You will thank yourself later if you use UPS. I have only had great experiences with UPS for the Astoria area. read more

This is the last place on Earth I wanted to be. The workers were particularly nasty and unhelpful. Made you get off the line every time something was wrong and offered little to no help. I had to get off the line twice until I said "screw it" and walked out. No wonder the post office is dying, no one wants to interact with employees with terrible attitudes. read more

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I just had such a great experience that I had to write a review. I came to this post office at about 1:25pm on a Friday and there was no wait, though folks started queuing as I was at the window. Edwin was super helpful and friendly, and he helped me send what I needed to send. There were two or three windows open, so it seemed like folks were able to be helped quickly. Today I went to this post office to mail out some parcels for my husband & the clerk, Edwin, was super dismissive and rude. I asked for all the packages to have tracking numbers and he said "yes. They will." I also asked to take a picture of the tracking labels on each so they could be sent to the people awaiting the packages. He said there was no need and that the tracking info would be on the receipt upon payment. When I got the receipt I saw that all the packages had tracking numbers except for two, which were sent as regular letters. Even though they were cards, they were not being mailed in a standard white envelope. The people expecting the packages have no clue when they may receive it or where it may end up. They are eBay customers and the worst case scenario is they can say they never received what they paid for & it can harm a seller's reputation/loss of funds. I don't understand why it was so damn difficult to provide me what I asked for- if you're miserable & don't like your job that's your problem. I am absolutely sure that there are other people who are willing to take your place who aren't standoffish. read more

I recently moved out of state and needed to see if this post office had a package that, according to the tracking number, was brought there. I called and was asked my name and before I could give her my tracking number I was put on hold. For over 14 minutes I waited for someone to come back to the phone, but I guess she just forgot? I feel compelled to write because there are so many negative reviews. I'm a small business owner and have been going to this post office for years - both to send and pick up packages and mail. Not only have I found everyone to be extremely helpful and the service to be great, they've also even worked on improving their process in the last year. There is a very delightful young man who is the person to get the packages when people are there to pick up packages. He is always cheerful, earnest, and works very hard. At some point in the last year, they added a little desk right in the lobby for him so that people who only need quick things like stamps can get them from him quickly if he isn't busy with getting packages. I actually look forward to coming by and saying hi to the workers because they are all lovely. It's true that there is often a line in the rush hour time periods, but there are also insanely long lines at places like Trader Joes, but there are a lot of people in NYC and sometimes there are long lines. I believe that the employees at this post office go as fast as they are able while still being careful to get the details right. read more

This post office lost my husband's Green Card. The USPS tracking info said the card was delivered but we never got it. Either the mailman stole it, or he is so inept he did not double check the address before putting in the system that the card was delivered. Now we had to pay an additional $450 for a new card!!! read more
