United States Post Office is the tops in my opinion. This branch has always been convenient for me when I'm in the neighborhood. It's on York just south of 79th Street. When the Charles Schulz Peanuts collection came out I went to every nearby post office trying to get the stamps. Naturally my local post offices didn't have them. My daughter surprised me and ordered them online as a gift for my birthday or some occasion! I find the employees here to be more cooperative over the years since the postal service made it easier to review your experience. Just use the QR Code on the receipt and answer a few questions! This place is an absolute nightmare. I just moved nearby, and the attendant in the first (leftmost) booth is just plain angry, abusive, and aggressive. I sat waiting for a label to generate for about 20 minutes- she seriously just yelled at EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER coming through her line. Very argumentative, rude-- I cannot believe why she has not been fired. I have been here multiple times (unfortunately to her window), and would not return. I have been to the person on the other side (rightmost booth on long side), who is perfectly reasonable and none of the above. This aggressor sets the tone for the entire PO. After she rushed everyone through, yelling about it incessantly, she called her friend and talked about the cheesesteak she was about to eat for 10m. Also, I would like to note there is a difference between comprehensibly explaining something to someone, vs picking an argument and yelling at someone with negative assumptions. Another time it was almost (but NOT) closing time and right in front of me, another person locked the front door while I was inside the vestibule. I WAS STANDING RIGHT THERE. And even said this OUT LOUD! Seriously it makes no sense. It's as though they WANT to upset us for being customers who need postal service. It wasn't even closed yet, but afterwards she explained that she has to lock it, or people will keep entering. THAT IS WHAT OPEN HOURS ARE FOR. read more

Don't drop off any packages at this post office. The women literally took my package apart, stating I did it wrong. The package arrived empty with a sticker saying it was stolen! Ummm, yeah ok she clearly saw something she wanted, and now its stolen. I will never mail anything out through this post office. This is our future, no one takes responsibility for anything, let alone want to work for it. People today think they are owed everything without any hard work put in. Sad :( read more

Giving this place 5 stars based solely on the service we received from one particular individual/employee. We were helped by a staff member named M. and she was super helpful and nice. We had a passport appointment on Sat and luckily she was still able to process our paperwork even though we were a little bit late. She double checked every detailed information with us and explained to us what we could expect in terms of turn around time and if anything emergent came up, the contact info. In terms of passport processing, it closes by noon on the weekends. You can go to the post office on 70th street as they take walk-ins and they open til 2pmm. This particular employee is one of a kind and I wish more employees were like her. Definitely an excellent role model. read more

I think the service is great considering how many stupid people they must deal with in the course of a day. Had 5 in front of me and they showed great patience for the lack of critical thinking skills. I would have been more sarcastic, yet these people were not scouring, not smiling, but I wouldn't either. I would have had a face that looked at these individuals and wondered how they walked into the Post Office to begin with. I had to wait on line for 25 minutes with my service dog because the package drop off bin was locked (yet again - I guess they don't know how to unlock it, or they don't care). When I got to the front of the line I was told no dogs were allowed. When I asked about service dogs I was very rudely told 'NO' and asked to leave immediately. Woman at window 2 is just plain mean. She's rude and nasty to customers daily. No one answers the phone at the location to complain. She runs away after nastiness so that you can't see her name tag, and no one else will share her name. Steer clear of her window if you want to have actual help without being unnecessarily berated. read more

I never write reviews but the service here was so slow and terrible I had to. I had to wait in line twice when all I was doing was sending a letter and the service is extremely slow. I finally got to the register when the clerk's receipt printer broke and I had to wait again for another window to be available. Quite literally will not be coming back here again read more

I went in to ask a question about a package that was supposedly delivered. I neither got the package nor a delivery slip. This counter person was so rude and impatient that she cut me off three times in the middle of my question. She only gave a one line answer that was not even helpful. I do not go to the post office often but when I do- and have at this location, the line moves quickly and the service has been Efficient and friendly. Sometimes when I read such awful reviews of places I've had a great experience with I wonder if I'm living on a different planet wearing delusional rose colored glasses. Then I experience something really bad w food or service and realize I'm still on the same planet as all the other reviewers... I think if you're pleasant and friendly to people generally they are more likely to be pleasant in return : (if not, watch my stars decrease as they do on occasion.). I think generally no one wants to go to the post office so perhaps they aren't in a good frame of mind when they do. I was here close to closing time on a Friday - when you'd think most people want out ASAP - but was given fantastic service with options for my package delivery, and as the doors closed the woman on the other end of the post office was cheerfully getting her music on ready to go... I did a little dance move hearing it and everyone was laughing, positive, upbeat. The people, supplies and service here have been great whenever I've been here. read more

This is one of my most despised errands because of the inefficiency and rudeness of most of the people who work at this post office. There are 1 or 2 pleasant employees, and the rest are so horribly rude that I am nervous to ask any questions. There is always a huge line that moves at a snail's place. a giant post office on 3rd ave and 54th st thats void of many customers or postal staff due to the covid 19 mess and for me means a quick trip . on the main ground level is the self service machines or you can take the escalators to the spacious full service open space post office that has 23 clerk windows and a few more self service machines and plenty of po boxes mail slots and when i say plenty i mean it. before i got on the nobody waiting on line i did a quick browse and checked out the artsy displays of the kinda weird stone like statues and the non weird displays of the different stamps including the black history stamp section with kobe bryant pics. now i make my way to the front of the line and i always follow the rules but the sign states to stay 6 feet away from clerk but its not logical unless the 3 money orders i need are for free or maybe i can throw the money or dedit card in her direction . the lady clerk was nice and told me to come foward, listen we are all wearing mask and gloves and the front window is covered by thick plastic so everyone needs to relax . got my money orders and before i left the post office grabbed a few flat rate boxes for future shipping . its a 4 star review cause no lines , no wise ass postal clerks . read more

I used this office for mailing packages few times. It seems there is a long line most of times and it moves slowly. Some of the employees are not great but Ok. There is a women who is very kind and responsible in my experience. She was patient and explained me the procedure in detail. Then ,other employee seemed to care less. I hope they arrange more staffs so that we can have a faster service. read more

The service here is excellent! They were so helpful and took the time to make sure I had the best mailing option for my package.

People are extremely, extremely, extremely slow! Way too much chit chatting with each customer. I have never found that there was a manager on premises they tell me the manager is at another post office. When I go to the other post office there is no manager! The staff does a lot of walking around and coming and going but very little attending to customers no matter how long is the line. In fairness, I must say this is true of the post office on E. 85th St. as well. read more

Had to deal with a very argumentative rep today. I was looking for a package but didn't have my receipt. She said I needed it, I said it's 2015 you can't find it without the receipt? She said sir I said no! I said you don't need to yell. She said I'm not YELLING IM KUST TELLING YOU! I said don't speak to me like this. She raised her hand and said ... IM DONE WITH YOU.. I said can I have your name. She said TINA. and your last name Tina. She said you don't need it I'm the only Tina. I said can I have your supervisor name? She said you can find him on 70th. I said what's his name she said go to 70th. I asked Can I have a pen to wrote this down. She said the pens are over there. (Near the walk way) and dismissed me. Then proceeded t talk about me while I was gathering my things so the other patrons can hear. She said "You can call corporate or my supervisor, not a dam thing is gonna happen to me , now go"....ummmmm... If you see the Latifah Character from the movie "Set it off" ... This is one of the worst post offices anywhere because the employees are all lazy and rude. They treat the customers with disdain and could care less about their satisfaction, moving at a snails pace. And giving out information with a sense of disgust and resentment. A poster child of inefficiency and what often happens when something is run by the gov't (sort of in this case) and the employees have guaranteed job security. A travesty. read more

I also have no choice but to go to this post office because I live one block away. Lines are long and I agree that most of the employees are rude. Renee Jordan in particular is so rude that I memorized her name tag just so that I can avoid her in the future. Today, the lady in front of me asked me to go ahead of her when her turn came to see Renee. I declined and told the man behind me to go first, he refused as well!!! I was short on time so I ended up going to her anyway. Big mistake!!!!! She was obnoxious as always, but this time I decided not to take it anymore. I told her what happened and that she is so rude customers refuse to go to her. She could not care less! She asked if I want to see her supervisor and that my complaints will not mean a thing. I will be going back to speak to her supervisor and will be sure to write an update. Apparently I am not the only person who thinks she is offensive, other customers came up to me after the altercation and told me that they avoid her at all costs! She should be ashamed of herself, if she does not like her job she should find another source of income. read more
