It's like entering a Time Machine in Lennox Hill. The inside isn't the cleanest and the trash was overflowing. Note - bring your own pen because the used TD pen they taped to the desk coulda used some help. Despite the long line, there was thankfully more than one person working and the attendant was efficient. Overall, not the cleanest or modern but gets the job done. Rare to find any decent post offices in the city. No restrooms.

    Classic old building. Posted 03/24/21

    U. S. Post Office (Lenox Hill 217 East 70th Street) Yes I have been into this post office! It's not a favorite. I got in trouble for trying to take photos inside. This last visit I took my photos outside. I didn't feel like having a hassle. It's a huge building and I like the architecture. It's wheelchair accessible and that's a necessity in this neighborhood. There's always a lot of activity and I don't enjoy the wait time. If you live or work nearby make sure you get there when they first open! Three Stars because if I had their job I'd probably be pissed off all the time too. And because everyone has a bad day now and then.

Long line at 9:30am on a Wednesday

The best location I've ever been to in the city. Heck also outside of the city too. One of the tellers (in the middle) has a cute little flag on the window that says HAVE A NICE DAY! And it always just makes me smile. Even if I'm waiting in the super long line. Another thing - they always make sure to acknowledge the customer. Whether it's "how are you today" or "thank you for being patient in line". The STAFF makes this location awesome!

A polite fellow customer gave me some of his tape to get this package in order.

I've been to this post office twice on weekday mornings and I like it. Even if the line looks long, it moves relatively fast. And there are plenty of automated machines if you don't want to wait in line. Decent inventory of Priority and Express Mail boxes. There's also a nice selection of greeting cards for purchase which came in handy for Mother's Day. Polite postal workers. Things feel organized here. My Go To post office when I'm in the neighborhood.

Despite the long lines (and the occasional interesting characters), Robert at the service desk was friendly, polite, and efficient.

Plenty of print and go stations, cutting machines, very spacious. The service is why I deduct 3 stars. Reading the previous review a it seems some people are good, some... not acceptable given the specific scenario below: Note: Everybody is usually rushed for something in this busy area. Appreciate the demand FedEx I came in with "I understand you're busy please take your time The front desk lady: - I said thank you and no response - said thank you again after a second task and was told "your welcome" without looking me in a face Very disrespectful. The front desk lady and I'm not going to call out her name I like FedEx Did not understand what I wanted, and immediately had a rude tone when it was miscommunication. *"If it's just print right behind you" - stern face Then turns around as if the convo is closed and shut by her. Two others felt the same way in the shop. TLDR: Great location, service not good for my experience. Maybe she had a bad day, trying to be fair here. 2/5

After questioning what defines a shipping bag, he couldn't articulate it for 5 minutes. Furthermore, he said he will have to spend $3.25 buying their plastic bag that have a place to put a label on. I had attached the label to my existing package that cannot be removed. In the same breath, he helped another customer shipping luggage without a label (just a tag). Lastly, I asked if I could use one of the freely available bags in store, he said no. The level of training of store manager is abysmal at best. Review from 2023: Eddie, Store Manager, experiences difficulty in communicating effectively, clearly and succinctly. I walked away feeling confused and frustrated for lack of care. Reference to some other company under FedEx left me thinking FedEx is disorganized.

At the age of 30 I should really know how to print off a shipping label and send a package without any help, but here we are. I was insecure about my lack of UPS ball knowledge, but he was so helpful and engaging that it made me feel not stupid. I watched him help a couple other customers out with the same positive attitude, and I was inspired. It was a short 3 minute interaction, but Kev's positivity and helpfulness made my day a little better. Give him a raise UPS. IG @johnny.novo Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo

They then decided to wedge my 15" fragile item into a 14" long box, completely ignoring the 18" box they charged for and the 2" packaging material rule for fragile items that their own company (UPS) enforces. Plus, they charged for dimensional weight of the larger box (19lbs cost instead of the actual weight cost of 8lbs), then used a smaller box so that the store did not get charged for the 19lbs dimensional weight. So to recap - the store paid for 8lbs of freight but charged customer for 19lbs of freight. Talk about deceptive business practices. This store should be investigated. Do not take your fragile items here to ship unless you packed it yourself. If you get charged for dimensional weight, make sure the store actually uses the appropriate box.
