Miserable woman behind the desk. I came to make a return using the QR code provided by usps. The kiosk printed the label and along side of it was free return bags. I was returning an item to Poshmark and making a Macy's return. A woman came out from behind the desk and approached me from behind yelling MAM! She scolding me that I can't use them because it's not a return like "SHEIN" ... which it was. Really no need to raise your voice when you're that close to me over a free thin plastic bag, actually there's no need at all. You could have simply asked me what my package was before assuming and speak calmly. I did drop off a lot of packages yesterday, given the look on her face she was probably just miserable she had to do work. Seriously unnecessary and inappropriate. I had a very urgent package that was supposed to be delivered next-day with expedited shipping and insurance. Due to an address issue, it never arrived as scheduled and was instead being sent back to the sender. I was told by multiple USPS representatives that there was nothing that could be done and that the package could not be intercepted.At that point, I was extremely stressed because the item was time-sensitive, and the sender was also unavailable until after spring break, which would have meant a significant delay. But Andy at the USPS on 30-11 21st went far above and beyond what anyone else was willing or able to do. He kept open communication with me and was able to track down the package all the way back at the original post office and arranged for it to be redirected back to me. By the next day at noon, I had it in my hands. What stood out most was that he did this with genuine kindness and initiative, not because he had to, but because he cared enough to help. It meant more than just getting a package on time--it restored my faith that there are still truly helpful and compassionate people out there. Thank you so much Andy! read more

GO TO LITERALLY ANY OTHER POST OFFICE!! the rudest service i have ever encountered. audrey is truly awful and has no place in a customer service role. i've witnessed her berate and yell at customers because she doesn't understand their accent, has the worst attitude ever and speaks with pure disrespect, she doesn't call out to the next person on line but just looks over like you're stupid and should know better. every employee here acts like you're dumb and disrupting their day. employees will get loud and abrasive with customers and vice versa but no one intervenes. just stand there watching, then turn around to talk about it, leaving customers waiting on line while they gossip. read more

This is the WORST post office. They are constantly delivering to the wrong address. They've scanned TWO packages for me in the past week, and I didn't receive either one of them. Additionally, this person failed to leave a redelivery slip -- making it impossible for the recipient to know that an attempt was made and also making it impossible to reschedule. I am at this post office at least once or twice a week because of my job. I am always shipping out packages. Overall customer service has been great and the USPS employees at this location have been working really hard to ensure that our packages are going out during this pandemic. People need to be patient. These are difficult times. There's was one week where Nicole(she was the only one working the window) I'm not sure if she's the manager was brought lunch at 4:30pm and I didn't leave the PO until after 5pm and she still didn't touch it. That whole week she worked from 7am-7pm plus they are understaffed. She did not complain I just wanted to know how she was during. We need to understand how much we need USPS and support them! read more

Another great experience! Friendly staff- going above and beyond. There was an issue where a package was on a truck/ different branch location. They took my number and called me when the package was ready for pickup. These guys have a hard job- I thank them for being patient- polite and customer service oriented. *UPDATE* I finally got through to someone and he was very nice and helpful, but they didn't have the package marked down for redelivery. They had it marked down as I was going to pick it up. I told him I had the conf # for my redelivery request and he said someone will deliver it today. Hopefully that happens* Post office left a "we attempted to deliver a package" notice on my door (no idea if they tried or not, since someone is usually always home). I followed the instructions to request a redelivery, got a confirmation number, and even signed up for up to the minute text updates about where the package was. I stayed home all day on the redelivery date specifically so I wouldn't miss the package. Never received the package, never received a single text, and the tracking info on the website was just frozen at "Customer requested redelivery. Will be redelivered on the 6th." Days after the 6th came and went, I emailed them through their website and included the tracking number, the redelivery request confirmation number, my address, everything. They said they'd email me back within 24 hours. That never happened. Next, I called the 1-800 usps number, never got through to anyone, and spent an hour on hold. I finally found the phone number to the local post office (it was impossible to find and wasn't on the package delivery attempt card they'd left on my door initially). Called he local post office once, they said they'd get back to me shortly, they didn't, so I called back five times, but it just kept ringing and ringing. I tweeted at them and the USPS Help twitter account said dm them and they'd help me. They haven't. This is a nightmare. How do people operate a business like this? read more

This is my official post office, but I am actually closer to another one, so I rarely go here. I had to visit here recently to pick up a package. This was my first visit to this post office since it moved (about two years ago) from another location on 21st St. My experiences at the previous location were pretty bad, and I have to say that my last visit was a big improvement from my past experiences. I also noticed that the post office at this new location looks nicer. I arrived early on a Saturday morning, and there was only one person on line ahead of me waiting for the windows to open. The woman told me that it was good that I arrived early, because the lines can be very slow later in the day. That brought back memories of the long waits at the previous location. Yes, it would be a good idea to arrive here early. The woman ahead of me was served in a reasonable amount of time. The woman at the window was nice and got my package for me. A previous review mentioned this, and it is worth repeating: the hours here are not very convenient. You can't go to a window until 9 am on weekdays. Since I work in Manhattan, I can go to the post office at Grand Central, which opens early. However, if I absolutely have to pick up a package here during the work week, I have to take off at least an hour from work. It would be nice if opened up an hour earlier. Overall, my experience here wasn't bad. However, for the sake of convenience, I would go to other post offices. read more

The absolute worst. I've gotten a slip maybe once, and I signed it and it stayed on my door for days. Then it was taken but my package was never delivered. Other than that my package just never arrives, no slip or anything, and I have to go to the post office. Every. Single. Time. How does this make sense? I've gotten through to someone on the phone twice. They're very understanding and sympathetic when I complain, which is nice, but nothing ever changes. My favorite part was when it first opened and they moved people from the Broadway post office to this one. I was one of those people, and they didn't send me a notification. I created a Yelp account so I could give this place 1 star. It's that bad. I've had multiple packages fail to be delivered for no good reason. I'm more than happy to pick up a package if no one was home to open the door, but alas, they never leave an attempted delivery slip. Other post offices are great about leaving a slip if no one's home, so it's clearly not a USPS issue. This location is just garbage. This is my neighborhood post office, and it's a hit or miss, depending on the day! Some days it's absolutely empty and they're more than willing to help you and scan your packages in. Other days you have to wait an ungodly amount of time behind dozens of impatient customers who all have weirdly intricate needs that takes the postal people what feels like hours per person. 99% of the time I'm just here to drop off packages with shipping already affixed. If only there was an express line that just did that!! Occasionally a guy will pop out of the back to ask if anyone is looking for a package or is dropping off a package, and my total visit time here is less than several minutes. I LOVE it when that happens! I once had the lady tell me that I can't stand in line to get my packages scanned in, which was odd - she said she would do it just that one time since no one was waiting in line. It was a weird comment since it's the post office, no? Anyway, I'm a fan of my regular mail guy. My package delivery guy I once made wait because I thought he was a Jehovah's Witness person. I've found that package pickups at home almost never happen, no matter how many times I request it online, so I make the walk over. read more

My mother just can't seem to write down my address right. Each Xmas/Easter/Birthday I go on a wild treasure hunt around the city, to locate my lost package. I am tired of packages being attempted to be delivered with no notice. I wouldn't have even known I should have received a package if my mother didn't ask about it. Unfortunately, she required a signature confirmation, and of course it was "attempted" to be delivered while at work. I didn't want to go down and deal with the post office in person and carry this huge pkg home, which screwed me over in the long run, because after scheduling a redelivery for Saturday when I would be home to sign for it... IT WAS NEVER REDELIVERED. It still says attempted delivery was last done on Sept 19th (it is Oct 4th). I tried to call the post office to see if they were holding the pkg if I attempted to go down there (don't wanna go and stand in line if it was already sent back to shipper). Sure enough, every time I called (about 5 times), I am immediately disconnected. One time it did go through only to receive a robot saying "the call could not be completed at this time." When I called USPS customer service about the whole ordeal, the woman confirmed this is all true - they never bothered sending it out for a redelivery, and now there's an investigation to figure out who royally screwed up and hopefully have my package delivered this week. I'm literally disgusted by my building's mail carrier. Her name is Stacy and I'm pretty sure after the run-in I just had with her, I'll never get my postal mail ever again. I went to get my UPS & FEDEX packages. Her mail wagon was blocking off the room. I attempt to move it, she starts in her thick NY accent "ay wait a minute, whatya doing?" Told her I just wanted those 2 packages. Told me "why can't you wait". I told her I'm very busy upstairs and I need to get these expensive packages quick. She closed the mailboxes, huffed puffed, gave me the boxes and I asked her where her holiday spirit was. "Can't you see I'm working here, can't you pick up your mail at a better time". Whooooaaaa!!!! I asked her her name and which office she's at, she said "Stacy and don't you know your own zipcode". Wasn't letting up the condescending comments, just wouldn't stop. Ayyyyy lady, can't you deliver mail at a better time?! I'll just never understand why people stay at jobs they absolutely loathe and take it out on us. I was just trying to get my mail that wasn't even FROM USPS. Didn't expect to be talked down upon like I was so stupid for picking up x-mas gifts. I wish I could give negative 5 stars because this place is a JOKE!!!!! I sent my package from Midtown on 3/21 to the Immigration Services in Vermont (which means VERY IMPORTANT). I sent it EXPRESS PRIORITY to be delivered the next day, exactly 23 days later I got a FINAL NOTICE from the USPS on 21st Street. Thinking it was something USCIS had sent me back I took time off work to collect it before the post office closed. Surely enough it was my EXPRESS package that should have got there the day after I sent it!!!! I asked why I only had one notice and why it said FINAL NOTICE (please collect your package in 2 days or it will go to "Dead Mail" meaning we will throw it out!). The man continued to tell me that they only try to deliver ONCE and they don't even have the package with them. When they supposably tried to deliver my package they didn't even ring the doorbell they just dropped off the orange notice. Are you serious? Some people have very important high level jobs and cant take time off work during your stupid 9-5 hours Monday-Friday to pick something up that should be delivered. Do you know how valuable my package was????? I had major information about my life in there!!! Social security info, birth certificates, marriage certificates, green card info!! They just said i should have put more postage on there and they could not deliver it. Well that would have been helpful! 23 DAYS AGO!!! Of course they didn't apologise for holding my package hostage without telling me until the 21st day!!!!! I was anxiously waiting to hear back from USCIS calling them everyday for an update and wondering why my application hadn't been started yet after almost a month. The USCIS weren't able to tell me if they received my package or not because all they could see was the application status, which hadn't been started.I was planning on leaving the country on vacation next week and now I am sorely disappointed that I can't go on my trip after 3 years of being unable to see my family. Not only are they absolutely rude in the fact that I paid $20 to express something and it was only delivered back to my address (well.. delivered to Astoria post office) 23 days later but they were rude as sh*t when I asked them about it!!! They didn't care. I even saw one woman yelling at customers asking them to "WAIT! I will unlock the door when I am ready" (after 5PM to let them out of the building). How atrocious!!! that woman yelled at someone who wanted to come into the building to be with her bf in line after 5PM. She was screaming for no reason. A simple I am sorry you cant come in it is for security purposes would have been nice. But no had to scream because she could. I am appalled at how dumb, rude and SLOW the workers are at USPS. If you hate your job, leave! You cannot treat customers with such rudeness and call yourself a reputable post service. I wish I could FedEx or UPS my package but it was going to a PO Box. I have been to this post office several times (even though I am an email person) but I am from Australia and my family sends me things. This FINAL NOTICE bullsh*t on the first try cant go on. You think you are a dying industry well no wonder! I don't care if you are paid minimum wage, get a new job and put a damn smile on your face and act like you care about your job. Also, if you are a very slow worker don't work in a high traffic environment. These 30 minutes+ lines need to stop. It is absolutely ridiculous how long you take to submit a piece of paper or a box when the customer has already addressed it. I am telling you right now that I would have been able to process about 5 people the time it took for you to process one and I don't even know your systems. USPS your a dying industry... I would rather not give even one star if it could be helped. This was one of the sites that would give you hell of a horror experience that would be unforgettable for the rest of your life. I dropped by here to purchase a certain amount of 'postage.' It did not have to come in certain makeups of stamps, let alone just one stamp. All I needed was the postage that I could use when I mail a certain envelope that would take the exact amount. A clerk who served me was some kind of postal monster who made it almost impossible. To my understanding, making this small errand impossible seemed to be impossible to begin with. Still this was a real story so please read on. A middle to 'senior aged' woman, who could be from any where, Middle East or Latin America, or even Balkan, just as typical as anyone in this area would go. Anyway, imagine a woman seemed to be headfucked and mentally ill with pretty incommunicable verbally in a civil manner: she barely spoke English. When I said barely, it is euphemism of no English. She might be struggling because of her communication skill but this did not necessarily leave me any room for empathy or kindness to see a foreigner trying to assimilate. All she did was barking at a customer--me--"What do you want?" in the way a desperate woman chased down by violence or something and recklessly confront her assailant. But the situation we were in was nothing as such. A customer (I) was trying to buy some postage from the postal office window and I was only addressing my need as one of the most affable and soft spoken customer there. All I needed was to buy postage worth 1.86 dollars. It did not matter which form the postage was issued as long as I could just adhere it to an envelope that I wanted to send out later. So sticker that noted the amount, or reasonably stamps, either way was acceptable. She got enraged and refused to serve me because she thought I was looking for a stamp exactly the amount of 1.86 dollars. I am not that idiotic but that was what she thought of me. After a lengthy amount of time and struggle, she pushed 2dollars worth stamps to me saying I could not cancel this because the stamps were already cut off from the sheets, or something. I had not heard of this type of inappropriate service--postal workers forcing customers to pay for additional stamps they do not need? Since this surely would not do for the mail business that I had to tend to later, --I needed the postage 'on-the-go' state so that I could whipped the pack out and put it when it was necessary-- I had to buy even more additional stamps so that it would make up the exact amount from all the assorted sheets that I ended up buying. I bet this made this postal thug happy. Still, what kind of low level primitive service are you offering, USPS? Why is this monster still employed and allowed to deal with customers in the window when she is this monstrously unfit to serve customers? Outrageously RUDE on top of No English and can't do the math. Or refused to do the math. Just as I read one of the prior reviewers pointed it out, this was a good example of why USPS was going bankrupt. With this monster, they surely deserved it. read more

USPS in Astoria 21st street is THE WORST! They never leave an "attempted delivery slip", in fact, I don't even think they attempt to deliver in the first place. Forget about requesting a redelivery. It's been a week and I'm still waiting for my package. Then I call the office and they tell me that the tracking number from Amazon is incorrect. How is it that from an Amazon order of 9 items, the 1 item being delivered by USPS is the only one missing!!!! Horrible customer service too! And this is not the first time that I've had issues with packages being delivered by them. There's been multiple times when they leave my boxes by the side of the building next to the trash. The disgusting human being they have for manager, the one responsible for the ridiculous condition of this office, called the cops on me today for trying to solve the problem with them never delivering my packages. I had to call the cops back on them because she instructed her employee to not give me my package AFTER I presented my slip, and AFTER I signed, because she would have nothing to show if I left. She had no reason to call them in the first place. When they were there she was lying out of her teeth that it's my fault I didn't get the package because I did not sign the slip. Well, I didn't hear this excuse before the cops were there. This entire incident happened after I managed to find their well-hidden phone number and called to try to find a solution. She hang up on me "to free the line for other customers" and the phone was off the hook for the next 3 hours. USPS at its finest. I reminded her that we put money in her paycheck but it didn't seem to create any sense of responsibility in her. Well, perhaps a complaint with the Inspector General will do the trick. I received a notice at 1040 this morning and I called the office to see if the driver could reattempt to deliver my packages as my doorbell is currently broken and I am expecting an important package. The person who answered was very helpful and called me back after 5 minutes to let me know the driver would redeliver. 10 minutes later I received my 2 packages and the driver was very friendly wishing me a nice day! I like this location better than the one on 21st and Broadway. There's hardly ever a line, and pick up of packages is quick! Definitely recommend this USPS location. read more

This location is MARGINALLY better than the B'way location (which is the absolute WORST) - they are definitely friendly, but prepare to wait as there is frequently ONE person working (and not quickly), so give yourself some time if you have the unfortunate need to go here. And you will, if this is your branch, as packages are rarely actually delivered and re-delivery requests are ignored. They blame the drivers, which might be the case, but since you can't complain to the drivers, you're stuck trekking down here and.... waiting in line. read more

Since this branch moved to this location about a year or so ago, the service has seriously deteriorated and long-time clerks look demoralized. There is often only one clerk during busy times, while other workers can be seen standing around in the back. The line is often completely unattended. Expect to wait a very long time, even by post office standards, unless you happen to get lucky. Current manager is Marsha Macbeth. She is hostile, unhelpful and provides nothing but excuses. read more
