Went to drop of an envelope to be mailed out and a bitter man working there with poor customer service skills (Frank) was so rude. I had gone to the post office on 18th St. earlier that same day and paid 15 cents extra so my wedding invitation wouldn't be put through a machine that could ruin it. When driving home I had forgotten to mail one more invite so I stopped at this location and this rude employee has the nerve to tell me that the same service i paid for not even 15min before that at their other location was not real. He said that doesn't exist and all mail goes through the machine so basically saying I'm crazy. I even offered to show him my receipt until he cut me off and proceeds to say "whatever I'll put it in like this if you want" and literally tosses it like it's a piece of trash. Honestly if you hate your job so much, get a new one and learn some customer service skills. Pathetic. I've had a number of bad experiences with the US Postal Service over the years, but never a problem attributable to this location. Today's visit was to purchase stamps to mail a bill payment. I entered the facility and saw a decent sized line (7 people) waiting to get up to the counter. There were 3 people in line at the little alcove to the right that sells cards and other items, and only 2 in line at the self serve machine. I'd never used the self serve machine before, but discovered it was incredibly easy to use it to purchase stamps or to mail a package. It takes credit or debit cards and will even weigh your package so that you know how much postage to put on it! While I was waiting in line and using the machine, there was a female postal worker walking up and down the main line asking if there was anyone there just to purchase stamps or who was willing to pay with a credit card so that she could direct them to the self service machine. When an older woman expressed concern that she would have trouble using the machine, the postal worker offered to walk over and show her how to use it. Self service with your own personal one-on-one helper walking you through it? Sounds like a good deal to me. I was in and out quickly with my payment mailed and extra stamps in my purse. On my previous visit, the line of only 5 people moved very quickly. A very pleasant male worker behind the counter helped me figure out how to send the textbook I was mailing the cheapest way possible (media mail) and talked and joked around with me while he quickly processed my order. I was only there 2 or 3 minutes (he was pretty efficient) but I was shown pictures of his dog on his phone while I waited. The dog WAS pretty cute. When I got home and told my brother about how pleasant my visit to THIS branch of the post officewas, he laughed and said he thought the postal worker was "hitting on" me since he told several jokes and worked the fact that he was single into the conversation. I think he was just being polite, but hey - who knows? Update; October, 2014 - once again I drove to this USPS location in spite of the fact that the Pegasus location was closer because I can always count on outstanding service here. Letha, the lady working the front counter was awesome. She saved me a few bucks on the packages I was mailing and chatted pleasantly with me while she processed my packages quickly and efficiently. The line was long, but two workers walked down the line offering to help show people how to use the self service machine and bypass the line if paying by credit card. One of them talked me through the various things I needed to send and wrote up a slip for the lady at the counter. This cut the time each person had to spend at the counter and kept the line moving relatively quickly. KUDOS for an extremely pleasant customer experience. read more

I like dropping off my mail at their drive up mailboxes. I do not like going inside this post office. They seem to be slower than any other post office in town. Maybe they have more difficult transactions? This location is clean, and the employees are okay. If you do not mind waiting for awhile, then go on inside. read more

UPDATE: Still the WORST post office in town. Google - 85 one star reviews. How are they allowed to still be in business? A year later and still NOT answering their phone (called for 30 minutes straight). Yes they literally let it ring and ring and ring and simply ignore it (I've waited in line there and personally witnessed this). Yet another package "supposedly" delivered YET no package to be found. These people have clearly been milking it for too long and need to be fired. All of them. Lots of people would be willing to provide a smile, good customer service and HUSTLE! read more

This post office is OK; usually more crowded than the one on Stockdale. It's more spacious though and parking is plentiful. They run out of collectible stamps faster than the Stockdale location for some reason. If I had a preference, I'd probably go to the Stockdale location for my post office needs since the staff over there is very friendly. :) read more

MAIL THEFT. It's happening ALL over Bakersfield. I now get the royal treatment of going to this PO to pick up my mail, which seems to be the same case for many others in this town considering the never ending lines and long faces. I question just how many of us are there, mailboxes getting broken into and vandalized? And just how long before the city takes it serious? The people who work here don't give a damn and can't provide us with any answers. This post office consistently overcharges for delivery.

Honestly, the incompetency here is impressive. Aside from seeing the mailman loading mail at seven pm, placing pieces of mail on top of the box, dropping mail in the gutter, leaving the wrong parcel key in the locker, (and I mean the key was for the box down the street), it's amazing they can get anything done. I no longer send anything from this office, given that my amazon returns were repeatedly never even scanned into the system. I don't know if this is because the staff is really this incompetent or if they are incompetent enough to allow mail theft right under their noses. I can't say enough about the disaster that is the USPS. read more

If I could give this place a zero I would. The manager Mary is unhelpful and RUDE! I did a change of address back in November and when I ordered two things in December they sent it to my old address. I went in there because it was showing delivered but Mary said she would have to contact the deliver to inquiry about it and it would take two days. Four days later, I still haven't heard from her and if you try calling NO ONE answers! They need to fire her and replace her with a manager who cares about the customer and takes responsibility when they screw up! read more

First of all my mail man constantly puts on the tracking that a pink slip was left in my mail box and that is NEVER the case so I have to come down here and get my package. Then I am faced with Mary the "manager" who is a totally jerk. I came in and I ended up not shipping my package because the shipping cost for the weight would've been unprofitable. But the service I received from the gentleman at the counter was top notch. He tried all he could to lower the shipping cost and gave me two envelopes for future use if decided to ship. I appreciate his effort. United States Postal Service aka Snail Mail....I've seen the change from when I was a child throughout my teen years and now as an adult, the Post Office seems to be slowly fading into the digital world. I remember when the employees were very cheerful and didn't seem like they hated their jobs, but each time I had to come here whether to send off a package or pick-up keys, they seem to be just utterly bitter. They do have a self-service station but only for mailing certain types of packages. And the line here for service is always long, like crazy long. They do have someone who tries to expedite the more simple transactions like picking up a package but sometimes the message is not always clear. They recently changed out the mailboxes in my neighborhood so I needed to pick-up my new keys. When I arrived I was about 8-10 people back in line and the expeditor says, "If you are picking up packages, please form a line to the right". I'm not picking up a package and I know I have to verify myself/address to pick-up my keys so I stood in line. I get to the front of the line and the lady expediting says, "what are you here to do?" I said, "My mailbox was replaced and I need to pick-up my keys". So she replied, "You need to get in that line sir". I didn't want to argue but why wouldn't you specify a little more clearly about this, now I"m moving to a line of 8 people where I would've been the first one in that line and home. Very frustrating but nothing I could do at that point but suck it up. In my eyes the customer service at USPS has been taking a turn for the worst, is it because of the digital world impacting their business? I know over the past years their workforce was reduced a certain amount, they had to adjust their lives accordingly to new schedules because I have a brother-in-law who is a mailman and told me about it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying all locations are like this, just this particular location in general. When all you can say is that you've had worse, that's not the best sign. It's clean.. and that's its greatest quality. Every time I come into this post office I find a large line and have a nice long wait. The line isn't necessarily the post office's fault but the slow service is. The service itself is mediocre and borderline passive aggressive. The clerk always finds something wrong with my packages and is not the friendliest individual when stating so. I have found it truly annoying to get continuously rejected that I have resorted to avoiding this post office completely. Wow, just dropping off prepaid package to return an AT&T phone and got the most wonderful lecture on label placement. He had a very poor attitude, that's for sure! I asked him has it been a tough day and he says it's like this every day! I said well the only reason why ask is it seems like you have a pretty poor attitude of which he had no response. I've use this post office since moving to this side of town in 1996 and got to tell you it doesn't seem to matter who the person is that's at the front counter they all seem to have the same attitude. I am a computer IT person who works with the public every day and must say if I treated people the way that I have been treated at this location I wouldn't have any customers. I run an eBay business and I have to deal with these people from time to time. It's always been a negative experience. First of all, the staff is incredibly rude. They speak to you with a condescending tone as if they hold some expertise that only a rocket scientist could possess. It's mail people. Quit acting like you are SO important. You work an hourly job and get paid for it. Second of all, I've encountered the employees arguing with each other twice. Extremely unprofessional. Argue about who gets to sell the forever stamps on your own time. And lastly, this morning is what ultimately pissed me off. I show up at 9AM today which is when they open. There was a line back to the door and they still didn't open. Finally at 9:05 they decided to serve the humble crowd. They failed to open up the shipping supplies room and there was no one available to help. I waited around for 15 minutes and still, no one could unlock the door to the shipping supplies. Instead I had to drive all the way to Walmart and back. Extremely inconvenient. I understand that sometimes things just happen. But things just happen all the time at this USPS on Camino media. The staff at this location are always nice and helpful. There is a self-service machine provided if you don't feel like waiting in line to get helped. Went into the post office yesterday to mail a package and ask a question about why a piece of my mail I had sent was returned to me. The lady at the counter off to the side (sorry, didn't get her name) pulled me out of line because she was available to help. Super nice! She told me about how I should have done the postage on my package and offered to redo my postage so it was right and wouldn't get sent back. Then she informed me that the piece that was returned to me was the postal services fault, they didn't see the postage because it wasn't in the far right corner, it was more towards the middle of the envelope, they just didn't see it. I am really not happy with what has been going on for the last few weeks now. I have not receiving my packages that I have been ordering. 1st package was not delivered to the right box and refused by addresses of course was delivered to the wrong box and returned to sender after I called Post Office the next day to save it for me. 2nd package says delivered to the 93311 zip I don't leave in 93311 called about this package and again was sent back to sender. To top it all off the Mail lady is in her own car how do we know if they are really putting the package in our mailbox or not. 3rd package said delivered then I got a key in my box but when I opened the box it was empty. I just asked for a sharpie to black out the label that she doesn't like, she didn't help with tape or anything else. No wonder the post office is going broke. The manager Mary is a huge problem. Completely rude and unresponsive when you give feedback regarding efficiency of the lines. I have waited over 40 mins just to pick up mail in the secondary pick up line. This has happened several times. Today I went to pick up mail at my po box and got a pink slip to pick up mail that does not fit in the po box. There were only 4 people in that line at the time and I waited 40 mins. By the time I got to the front the line had grown to 15 people and the other line was super fast. People in this line were obviously annoyed by how slow this line was. I spoke with Mary, the manager to indicate that they need more help with this line. She was rude and said, we do that on purpose because the other line is for paying customers. I told her I am a paying customer. I pay for a po box. She disregarded my suggestion and blew me off. I asked for her name and business card to file a formal complaint but she just gave me her first name and refused last name or business card. I will be filing a formal complaint online to make sure this manager and her professionalism is addressed. I hope there is follow up because I am not the only one who feels this way about efficiency in the secondary pick up line. Don't open a po box at this location. Try another location. read more

Had to mail a gift and went to the right of the lobby where packing etc was. I picked the envelope and took it to the counter as I had planned on using the Kiosk to mail my item and avoid the line. The cashier Letha told me that she could not sell me the item (after waiting for two other people in line) and I had to go to the long line to buy the envelope. I once again explained that I only wanted the envelope but was rudely told again that she WOULD NOT help me. Letha is the epitome of a gov't employee: rude, slow, and aloof. Everyone who works inside this post office is really friendly (albeit, somewhat slow) but the mail carriers that serve my neighborhood are completely incompetent. I have had packages marked as delivered but never actually put into my parcel box. I've gotten completely random mail delivered to me (and my mail has ended up in equally random places). I've have them put a vacation hold on my mail without my consent (good luck trying to figure out why you're not getting mail in that situation). I've had packages out for delivery and no further status, not "left a notice," not "delivered," the tacking literally said "status not updated" and I had to track it down myself. My problems are not isolated, I have had problems getting my mail for about a year and I know that I have had more than one mail carrier so it's not one bad employee causing my problems. Do you receive tax returns? I didn't thanks to my mail carrier. Do you receive medication through the mail? I'd request UPS or FedEx (both have been great in my experience). Are you planning a wedding and need your RSVPs? You might have some unexpected guests. Do you have Amazon Prime 2-day shipping? Well, that'll be 1-week shipping now. If you value your mail at all then I seriously suggest you move outside the area that this post office serves. read more

I have been trying for the past two days to reach someone by phone at this post office. Finally I was able to get through today. The post master for the Oleander area felt comfortable enough to leave a parcel at the door. This is unacceptable and is not the standard of practice according to the supervisor I spoke with. If the package had been taken back to the post office I would have recieved an email to pick it up as I recieved an email that it was left at the door. Someone stole it. When. I voiced my complaint to the supervisor about what wasn't being done- properly retraining, she hung up on me. Several times during our conversation she put the phone on the countertop as I rattled away about my frustration. This is not professional behavior by a supervisor. The main supervisor apparently was on vacation and returns tomorrow. My initial complaint involved more than these details but for the sake of brevity I will say this- IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS, do not hesitate to make your complaints with the way this office is handling your mail known. Because Oleander is known for it's high theft rate off of porches the only way to stop this is to hold the postal service accountable for leaving customers vulnerable to theft in the first place. read more

This office is useless! My hubby and I just recetly moved to Cali last month. We placed a hold on our mail while we were purchasing a new home. We got into the house and went to the post office to stop the hold and pick up our keys. Well, they had apparently lost our keys. The woman said she would call me later that day or if it was after business hours, the carrier would hand deliver them to me the next day. Well, I never recieved a phone call and the next day, I sat at home all day and the carrier never stopped by. I went back to the office to speak to someone in person and they too had trouble finding the keys! I seriously waited 30 minutes while they looked. They finally found them, but they couldn't find any mail for us. She said they might have already delivered it (not helpful to check your mail without the key!) So I get home and we do have 2 envelopes in the box. 2! We haven't gotten our mail in over a week! There is no way that is all our mail (we normally have a full box, daily). Later, a neighbor comes over with a few envelopes that have his address on them as the forwarding address. He says he's been getting our mail for awhile and he keeps returning it. We never recieved any corrected mail, so who knows where that has ended up. Sooo, we return to the post office to tell them that the forwarding address is incorrect (even though I have the confermation email and letter from USPS with the correct address). I fill in the paper work for the correction and they said it should take a few days to correct. Fast forward to a week and a half later, and as I'm trying to change our address with individual companies, they are telling us that our address is invalid and does not exist! So I call the post office yet again, and she says she will check into it and call me right back, except she never does! So I call again and this lady tell me that it should be a few more days! I just want my mail! This has been such a mess, and everyone there seems to have no clue what they are doing. They were rude and never followed through. After this mess is cleared up, if ever, I will not be using this office again if I can help it! read more
