Great experience here. This location is located in downtown Carlsbad. The parking lot is very packed, but the spots free up quickly as many customers spend a small amount of time inside. I entered the building and there were 3 window clerks working. Each of them was busy handling customers. I noticed that the box lobby was very clean and that they had clean floors. There is a self service mail machine for small packages. This is very convenient for customers. There are many greeting card options here, gift cards options, and mailing supplies as merchandise in this location. I got in line and was immediately helped. The process was quick and easy. I was able to use my phone to tap pay on the POS. The window clerk that I had was customer service oriented and I had a great experience. I like how they have the surveys on the receipt. Great location overall. I was in and out within 7 minutes. read more

Everyone is nice here. I've been going here for years. They have been getting pretty cool stamps lately. I love the cards they sell here. This post office is the most comfortable for me and it's next to the beach. Also near a lot of restaurants and shops. read more

Popped in here 5 mins before closing (whoops) it was really busy but had a chat with a pleasant postal worker who helped me with a return package and mailing a letter. I told him I was a mom and new to the area and he told me about local mom and me gymnastics classes I am excited to check out. I brought my own stamps and couldn't find an address quick enough to mail a second letter but was able to drop in the lobby once they closed up. The pick up was a bit later than closing time so I think it went out anyways. The parking lot has enough space but I am happy that I can walk to this spot from our new digs in the future. Every time I come to this beautiful USPS location, Danzel, Michele and the rest of the team are very courteous, professional and kind. I think deep down PATRICK is a nice guy and he can be kind if wants to, but his attitude needs a improvement. I don't know if he's depressed, having a bad day or he just hates working at this historical USPS location. I wish he can change for the better. This is the only USPS branch ever that doesn't have a spot for drop offs. And they get mad if you try to drop off a package. You're in the way, and an inconvenience to the employees, if you try to do anything here. They don't want to help you. If you kindly ask where they should go today (since there's never a spot), they get mad and act like you're doing something wrong. You're insane to them for wanting to drop off a packages. It's like they've never seen such a situation before, every time. Pro-tip: go around to the back dock and find the bins yourself for prepaid drop-offs. Do the job of the clerks for them, they do not want to help you and they do not want your business. The people around the back are nicer than inside. read more

My son reported to me that my mailbox was vandalized. I called the post office to find out what to do. I also told them to temporarily stop delivering my mail. Then I went to check out the box and thought I was able to lock it so I called back and said it was ok to deliver. I went back later to pick up my mail and realized that it was NOT locking so I called again and said to please keep my mail until further notice. I called a total f 4x in one day and other than no answer the first time I called, on the subsequent calls, Frank answered. He was so helpful and remembered me and my address. Today I went to pick up my mail and let them know that my mailbox lock was fixed. There was a long line. Frank came out and asked if anyone was in line to pick up mail. I let him know I was. Luna runs and gets a play toy and poses, paws on the balcony railing, wagging her tail, every day when she sees him at our mailbox. i'm grateful for their work even if all he's delivering these days is the Pennysaver and the few bills i don't get on-line. a quarter millennium later, they're still doing Ben Franklin proud. ps: only delusional Foxtards believe the US Postal Service poses a bigger threat to our democracy than the Russians. read more

I wish I could give this location more than five stars because several of being employees here are absolutely unequivocally credible! For example, Michelle, who works in the front always has a big smile on her face, remembers my name, greets me personally, and asks how I'm doing every single time I walk in. Do you realize how rare this is! Considering that Post Office has hundreds if not close to probably 1000 people That go through there each day, that level of Customer Service is beyond top notch. Despite me, not being a customer that spends massive amounts of money with (USPS) she still treats me like a VIP and that is a genuinely incredible feeling that not a lot of people do anymore in roles that involve Customer Service! She definitely deserves to be recognized by Management because she is the reason I will go out of my way to go to that location and provide them my business instead of simply going to the closest USPS store near me. Finally, there is one more guy who is always working usually right next to her on the front end who provides equally amazing customer service but unfortunately, I just cannot seem to recall his name off the top of my head, which is really frustrating, because because I wanted to make sure he gets recognized as well! I mean this in the most respectful way possible, and I'm only saying this to try to describe who he is in hopes that Management sees this, and can figure out who I'm talking about, in order to recognize him as well. The gentleman I'm referring to is probably around 6 foot tall, heavier, set and darker complected with dark hair , always works at one of the registers closest to the front doors/cash registers when you first walk into the post office. But like I said, he also goes above, and beyond to remember my name, ask how I'm doing, and Takes a genuine interest in things that are going on in my life that I've told him about (she actually remembers past conversations that we've had and the next time I'll see him he will bring them up and check in with me and ask how they are going, etc.) (USPS) is extremely fortunate to have two incredible employees like the ones that I just mentioned! I will continue going out of my way to bring my Business specifically to this location because of the amazing service that these two wonderful people provide me on a very consistent basis. Update 7/30/21 Christina cannot handle things at this post office. She is incredibly unprofessional in the way she communicates with customers asking basic questions. I'm still trying to get her to work on my missing mail request, and when I call to follow up she blames me for everything and then insults me when I defend myself and insist she work on this. She also ignores my direct questions and emails, and even though the USPS San Diego District Consumer Affairs Department has gotten involved, she continues with the same attitude. This mail is important for my business as a lawyer and contains irreplaceable documents. She uses the excuse of another post office not getting back to her as a reason to not work on this... um following up is required. And she doesn't get back to me either so how can she blame them for doing the same thing? read more

Absolutely hate coming here and sadly it's the only one near me. The costumer service is horrible but specifically from someone in particular. It's really not that hard to be patient and have a positive attitude especially if your getting paid to work in costumer service. This place is usually super crowded, absolutely no parking, and always feels judged when walking in. I was having a fine time until the male employee with long hair was very rude and completely unprofessional. My Fiancé not knowing if there was Hazmat in the package, he answered no to his question asking if there was any hazmat. I corrected him a few seconds later and said yes there was perfume in a package. Then he got an attitude and said "well that's why I asked if there was any hazmat" and I completely understand that. But he kept repeating it over and over again. To where it was obvious he was being very disrespectful. It seemed like he didn't like his job. Going to the usps shouldn't give me anxiety. This is the best post office I've ever been too. They go out of their way to help you. Granted sometimes they can't, but when they can they are exceptional. They allow you to run in the door at 4:59 and seconds and still let you get in line. They stay until everyone who was there at 5:00, when they closed, is served. For all the stories about bad government workers, these people shine. They care and it shows. I really appreciate them. read more

While this post office is where I maintain my PO box, so I frequent the location, I'm not too fond of it. The parking lot is terribly small, and always super crowded, traffic also blocks up the street. The reason I'm giving it three stars is because the location has added a small window to try to alleviate some of the wait time for people who are picking up packages and doing some other things that don't require a register out in the lobby which I think is a step in the right direction. In addition, trying to alleviate some congestion, at high traffic times they have a helper at the Automated machine, assisting people and making that line move a little faster. So you can see they are trying but that is one crowded little post office. read more

The man at the post office was about to over charge me 300$ to mail my cards out because he was not educated on what non-machinable stamps were. He insisted on what I was asking couldn't be done and recommended I leave or pay 5$ per card as opposed to the 1.03$ stamp I needed. What an asshole. He was so rude and condescending. I went to the Oceanside post office and they knew exactly what I was asking for and provided me with the appropriate postage. Came in today to mail one of the last care packages I'll be sending to my man while he's deployed! There are two gentleman there, one is I'm just guessing here- Hawaiian or Samoan maybe Hispanic or Mexican and the other is white and every time I've come in they are here and they're very nice! Always smiling and asking how I'm doing. Feels nice to see familiar faces. While the hours can be quite inconvenient, it's rather cheap to send care packages to your loved ones when they're overseas. Love this post office and its location. It is convenient and the people are nice. None-the-less, Denzel stands out because he is always super cheery, smiles, he cares about his customers, and greets us with a "welcome to the Carlsbad post office". Not that Carlsbad residents need that greeting every time we come in because we know the staffers ;-) That is the beauty of a small town. The only thing I would suggest is getting more helpers during the holiday time to assist the crowds, instead of over taxing the dedicated, wonderful people that are full-timers. I'll actively go out of my way to avoid this post office. I *want* to like the people who work there, but they seem hardwired to be unhelpful. Maybe it's the laid back beach vibe or the fact that they cater to a lot of seniors, but heaven help you if you ever come here in a hurry or know exactly what you need to do. The staff is actively snarky if you ask (politely!) to drop pre-paid packages at the counter when their self-help kiosk box is full (which happens frequently). I've literally had them ignore me and roll their eyes when I ask if I can avoid stand in a 10+ person line to leave a pre-paid package on their counter. Overall, it's clean and convenient... but the staff lacks any sense of urgency. read more

Post offices and banks don't always get good reviews that they deserve. I understand why. I had quite a lot of bad experiences with rude and oblivious staff. But so far, I've had good experience with this Carlsbad post office, luckily! The staff were helpful and efficient almost all the time. The line did get long before closing time sometimes but it usually went pretty quickly. The clerk Denzil was always very helpful, politely and friendly. He explained the options of shipping methods and prices well. I have never used their mail pick up service though since it doesn't serve where I live. Parking can be confusing because the exit is closer to the freeway (toward the south end) and it's one way only, which means you would have to driver further north to enter the parking lot. Don't turn into the exit! There are ample parking spots. If those by the post office entrance are filled up, there are more at the back right where you enter. read more

It is beyond frustrating to have to call this post office. I have lived here over 15 years. Whenever I have had to call, almost always they have the phone off the hook and it rings busy all day. If miraculously it actually rings, they simply won't answer it. It rings fifty times, then disconnects. Today I'm calling about redelivery of a birthday gift that has postage due. This is the worst post office ever ! I am continuing to get packages scanned as delivered but the reality is I am not getting them. Who is getting them ?? The managers are rude and talk down to you like you are an idiot for complaining about anything. I have been to hell and back with this place. I buy a lot of items on line due to COVID so I get lots of packages. I do get most of them but do find it fishy that the important ones I don't get. A few years ago I purchased a very expensive 18k gold necklace at auction. It was sent fully insured . What I got was an empty box in my mail box. When I went to this post office to ask why there was nothing in it they told me someone must have stolen it out of the mailbox. That did not happen since I was here for delivery.The delivery post office employee told me she told the manager at the post office whose name is Nick and he said "Deliver it anyway". So I went to talk to Nick. Talk about an arrogant A-Hole . He was extremely rude and blew me off and walked away. I then went to another town for help . They helped me fill out all the paper work and get an investigative team out to go undercover and review all the footage at the po. This investigator came to my house undercover and asked me the details. I gave her all the info. I had 2 packages arrives empty and I gave her the empty boxes. The investigation started and then I had to write up more paper work for the head office. My claim was denied saying the package was delivered. Then more paper work and the investigation. I finally after 1 year of fighting this I got reimbursed. Now again packages are being delivered to who knows who ? They scan the package and say it was delivered yet I still have nothing. I will continue to fight until justice is done. This place needs new management ! I am wondering where all my lost items went ? Geez ....... anyone have any ideas ???????????????? read more

Horrible PO! I don't know how they are not all fired. Most are so rude and they hate their jobs - don't work a customer service job if you can't be nice. As for the delivery - we don't have a regular mail person so it's always screwed up!!! Yes every single day something is missing, ir delivered to wrong person or boxes are left on top of the community mailboxes. Lazy to say the least. Government run business - nothing we can do about our incoming mail -but hope it shows up. I now ship all my stuff from UPS store. read more

Packages are held 1-2 days. I no longer ship from this PO, in spite of it being 2 blocks from my home, I drive to the Oceanside PO. I regularly ship first class packages, 3-5 times a week, and drop off in the morning. Every package includes tracking, which allows me to track it's location on-line, the last 8 packages I shipped out of this location departed the PO TWO days after dropping off. Oceanside scans my packages within hours of me dropping off. Carlsbad PO is nothing short of lazy. read more
