Horrible PO! I don't know how they are not all fired. Most are so rude and they hate their jobs - don't work a customer service job if you can't be nice. As for the delivery - we don't have a regular mail person so it's always screwed up!!! Yes every single day something is missing, ir delivered to wrong person or boxes are left on top of the community mailboxes. Lazy to say the least. Packages are held 1-2 days. I no longer ship from this PO, in spite of it being 2 blocks from my home, I drive to the Oceanside PO. I regularly ship first class packages, 3-5 times a week, and drop off in the morning. Every package includes tracking, which allows me to track it's location on-line, the last 8 packages I shipped out of this location departed the PO TWO days after dropping off. Oceanside scans my packages within hours of me dropping off. Carlsbad PO is nothing short of lazy. read more

This branch needs to start investigating their USPS carriers for STEALING people's packages. Something fishy is going on. Package says delivered but package hasn't arrived and building cameras shows no delivery of that package from USPS. Your carriers are marking packages as delivered even though they are not. Please read other comments as well. Other people complaining about the same thing. So please INVESTIGATE your carriers. Carriers are STEALING people's packages. When you pay $18+ for Express mail, then the post office manager acts like you're the problem when they blow the delivery date, then it's clear why the postal service is billions in debt, and on the verge of complete meltdown. I came to this location with about 150 large envelopes to be mailed. I went up to the front with a couple boxes of these letters that needed to be stamped, and upon my arrival they had said that they cannot help me if I have more than 10 envelopes at the front counter. I thought this was strange because at $2.32 per envelope, I thought that they would have wanted my business. The clerk said that he could give me five different stamps per envelope that I would have to take and affix myself and then bring back to the post office in order for them to accept my letters. The clerk had said that they had put this policy in effect so that people who were standing in line with one or two letters wouldn't have to wait that long. I think this may be the reason why our post office is failing miserably in the United States. You try to give them business and they turn you away... I've heard from other individuals that this specific post office is notoriously bad with customer service. I would suggest maybe using another location. read more

The line is always long, but don't be afraid if you show up and it is outside the double doors, it moves pretty quickly. People in line are usually friendly so that passes the time, the postal people at the counter are always nice. As far as post offices go, I like this one, it's old school, not that I like ever having to wait at the post office rather than just send it with the regular mail. FYI it usually easier to drive straight into the parking lot on the left of the building rather than trying to get a spot in front of the building, but sometimes you get lucky :-) read more

Am a long time customer and have a P.O. box there. The staff are hardworking and try to attend to people's different needs, and are always working to improve. Often I see one staff member helping customers work the automated mailing computer, while another is gathering notices for package pickup, shortening the main queue for other transactions. This facility is heavily used and so it is a challenge to handle the constant flow of customers. That said, I am concerned about the future of this post office, as they may lose their lease, and need to relocate. It is a main shipping and social hub, and to lose it would seriously degrade the basic services available in the village. A generic four-story mixed use box in this location will soon turn this area into a Nothing-To-See-Here-Move-On wasteland. read more

I had an urgent issue with a delivery and as a last chance measure went to this office to see if they could help. I fully expected there would be nothing they could do, but they were able to help me immediately. Many thanks to Manager Tim, Carrier Darren and a female manager working front desk on Sept. 3, 2019. The male employees there are constantly rude to me and even sarcastic at times. I am a younger female, which I guess to them means I don't understand how to mail packages. They always talk down to me, even once threatening to mail my package improperly because I didn't understand what he was saying with his mask on. Can't even tell you how many times my parents have sent us gifts through the mail, cards with checks especially, that they have to stop payment on because they never arrive! Most recently, they sent something to help pay for school supplies over a week ago. They live in San Luis Obispo, Ca and my family in Portland, OR got it within a few days. Stopped in here to mail a large envelope. Had to check to see how many stamps it needed and I got exactly what I needed out of my visit and didn't pay anything. I brought my own envelope and stamps and the person working was nice enough to tell me that I needed 4 stamps to send it off. He them stamped it and sent it off for me. The parking lots had lots of open spots today (Tuesday around noon) and there was only 1 person waiting in front of me. There is also a drive thru section to drop mail into bins if you are in a hurry or have crazy kids in the back seat breaking crayons and picking their noses. Inside there are mailboxes that people rent, envelopes, boxes, stamps, change of address forms, a variety of cards for different occasions, and a variety of gift cards. You can bring a package ready to ship or bring your gift here and ship it in the store. Great customer service and you get what you need for any of your shipping needs. Prices are average. Other customers are friendly today as well. read more

I feel so bad the workers at the post office. They have been working through the pandemic. I was there yesterday and a lady went off on the male clerk. He was just trying to clarify with some questions and she started cussing him out for no reason. They work so hard and are not appreciated it's not an easy job. They have always resolved any issues I have had. People need to calm down and think how they would feel being short staffed and lots of mail to handle. Good luck to the postal workers. read more

You will regularly have problems with deliveries. I once had one of their monkeys place a package ON TOP OF MY MAILBOX on a busy residential street, because the mail person didn't want to walk up the 125 foot driveway! Why use the mailboxes at all? Just pitch the mail out in drive-by style onto the driveways. The item in the box was only worth $125 (or $50 street value to any criminal that wanted to simply pocket it). I averaged about 3 - 4 complaints a year about their mail person's inability to engage their brains on deliveries. Quite possibly the nation's best post office! The people are super friendly. The doors are open 24/7 so you can always drop off packages in their drop bin (unless it fills to capacity). Customers can access their PO Boxes 24/7 and pick up free Priority Mail boxes and envelopes. The kiosk can also be used 24/7 to weigh packages and purchase postage. As for the counter line, the post office might have just one person working when things are slow but as soon as a line gets going they fill up every one of the five stations and have someone else asking if they can help those that are just dropping off or picking up, and sometimes yet another person helping customers navigate the kiosk. I have never seen a Post Office so on top of their customer service! I can't tell you how many times I have skipped the line to drop off packages and get them scanned, but the line never lasts long regardless because they have an efficient, customer-focused system that adapts. USPS ought to use the Carlsbad Village, CA post office as a model of efficiency for other post offices to learn from. Room for improvement: Even the best of the best always has room for improvement. 1) They do not seem to scan packages unless you ask them to. The San Diego sorting center also fails to do so on a regular basis. I have had Priority Mail packages make it to their delivery location on the east coast without ever getting scanned along the way. This is obviously a systemic problem for USPS. 2) There are only a dozen or so parking spaces out front and they often fill up, but there are plenty more on the side. During the busiest times this can fill up, too. There is no customer access to the back lot but there is employee access, so I am not sure why employees are not required to park in back where there is always ample room. read more

Generally the same people who are always friendly and more than willing to help. I didnt get the same service from the Oceanside post office. So, I will drive the extra few miles to come here instead. The last couple times I was helped by some young tall bearded guy. He is always so helpful in telling me whats best and the cheapest. The only con is that this post office is always so busy. You are almost always gauranteed a line of at least 4-5 people in front of you. The workers know so many regulars that conversations sometimes become lengthy and therefore result in a longer wait. Good news is that when its your turn, they will spend that same time with you to ensure their great customer service. read more

There a re ten of us in line and one counter person. t the same time, another worker is helping people use the self service kiosk instead of jumping behind the counter. It's good old customer service guys. There has been zero communication that the front needs more support and it doesn't seem that the Post Master cares about making customer.ers wait for 30 minutes. This is why people aren't using USPS anymore. You HAD a monopoly now there are other shipping choices. You need to change your mindset from pinching payroll dollars to customer service. read more

Is anyone wondering why "flood damage in October 2018" has caused the counter at the post office to be closed for five months? A roof leak on a building leased from a third party isn't being fixed? But somehow magically the PO Boxes are open after the whole building was locked up for over two months and we had to drive to Lacosta to pick up mail from our PO Box. That was supposedly routed there. I renewed my PO Box today and the price went up $13 for six months. I really had no choice but to renew it because that is the billing address for my credit cards and bank and much of my mail comes to my PO Box. I went in last week to mail something to my friend in Los Angeles. The only way to buy stamps there is through a machine and the person working at the post office in a makeshift doorway told people that didn't understand how to use the machine to go to Oceanside post office. A very old man was turned away and I actually use my own credit card to help him buy stamps so he wouldn't have to drive to another town find the post office and wait in line. The person working there wouldn't even take the time to help him use the machine. I saw him tell other people the same thing. Lazy. I mailed a small package to my friend in Los Angeles from this post office 10 days ago and it still hasn't reached her. If you are reading this I would think twice about mailing anything out of that post office or leaving mail there for them to handle it just doesn't seem safe read more

I accidentally forgot to add the apartment number to my package and therefore it was not able to be delivered. I got a call from Christina letting me know the issue and she searched and found my package at the post office, added the apartment number and it was delivered! I am very pleased with how easy the process was to find my missing package and get the issue resolved. Christina is awesome! read more

The Carlsbad Village Post Office is an absolute disappointment in every aspect. I've had rude disgruntled workers bark at me during several interactions. Example: The only oversize bin was either full or the opening jammed. I asked if I could leave my package on the counter since the postage was pre-paid. The woman's very rude response was "you need to use the bin." HA, it won't open! These people must hate their job or must hate life. I would avoid this place all together. Another option is use the automated machine in the lobby or purchase postage online. read more

no wonder these angry employees got 2.5 stars ! i've been away from my house. think last time i got my maul was 4 weeks ago. their policy is to take your mail, if your box is full, hold it at the PO, then if you dont' get it, they return to sender. ok - i get that. what i don't get is that THEY SHOULD LEAVE A LITTLE SLIP IN YOUR MAILBOX TELLING YOU. duh - post person- we don't all work at the po - so we may not instinctively know your rules. I get a text from my friend with a pic of her returned mail. so, i call the 800 po number, who gives me a case number and says "yes they should have left a note". so carlabad PO calls me like 5x in a row, i am on a work call. they do not leave a message- later realizing my phone box is also full : )) so sue me - call them back like 3 x and they DO NOT ANSWER THEIR PHONE. i call the 800 number back, and then i get a call from the lovely, friendly carlabad po. can't remember this rude unhappy idiot who calls me back, but he loves to talk over me. all i am trying to say is that they should have left a note. this dumb ass actually says "we can't leave a note on everyone's door. ah, right einstein. how about leaving the note IN THE MAILBOX. of course you can't leave it on peoples door. the guy never even just admits they should have left a note. he prefers to talk over me and to argue. then says the mail person said you hadn't been there in 2 months. complete lie to justify them not delivering to me anymore. i am so sorry you are so un happy with your job, BUT FOLLOW PROCEDURES, and leave a note in someone's box if you take their mail, vs arguing, and not admitting you were in error. read more

I have had a commercial size box at this location for over seven years. This service here sucks. I have run out of tolerance for the constant rude and whiny employees here. On Saturday I had an employee lock the door in my face at 12:25. I was approaching the office to collect an urgent package I was notified about in my box. There was still more than six people in line inside and this jerk turned his back on me for five minutes until he had to unlock the door to let someone out. I politely asked for some consideration as was snidely told he did not have the man power to help. Just another example of a lazy bitter government non-worker. There's always a line and the staff is just plain rude they get paid wayyyy too much to be rude, I understand the mail system is difficult and probably stressful but if you can't stay sane and not take it out on the customers then get out of the business it's clearly not for you... This is just another typical post office. The sense of urgency is not there. The customer service is below par. I send out the same type of notices out on an every day basis. This day, I had no stamps, so I had to go to the PO. I typically use one standard stamp on each of these notices. While this day, the attendant weighed my letter and charged and extra 10 cents. It was pretty annoying knowing that if I just put a regular stamp on it, it would've gotten picked up and delivered from the carrier. It is what it is at this point. read more

Every time I come in to this post office the employees are always friendly. I was so grateful over the holiday season that they had a special line just for people picking up packages. Today the woman behind the counter was super friendly and even reminded me I forgot my return address and allowed me to fill them in at her counter (some post offices make you step out of line). I've been coming here for years and never had an issue. The facility is clean and organized. The staff that I've encountered has always been super helpful and friendly. They do carry many shipping supplies and also provide passport services. I came in yesterday on my lunch break to find out more information on my package and I had the pleasure of working with a young man and the manager. I am aware that it is Christmas time which means people are flooding shops, most people are impatience and rude, etc. I was very impressed with how much patience and good attitude the staff had yesterday. There was a long line clear to the entrance door and the staff handled each person as best as they could with a positive attitude. The Postal employees here are very rude. First they refused to open my PO Box one day that I forgot my key and I've been having my PO Box here for 15 yrs. Second, one day they put someone else's mail in my Box and I took it up to the counter and they wanted me to wait in a long line for a mistake they made. The building architecture is a retro holdover from times past, which is cool. It's a small location for the traffic it gets but there is usually someone standing around to help people and answer questions. Its open self serve at night. They could use an extra self serve machine or two and drop box. Cheaper prices than the private competitors for most things. If you really want to save time, buy a scale and print postage from their website at home and just drop it off. read more
