This review is for the beauty of the gardens and artwork inside this post office in Solana Beach. Also because it preserves very well the colors and style of 1965 when was built and many like me appreciate that. Beautiful murals depicting Solana Beach and town scenes, painred during 2024/5, very very nice. The post office is smaller than others I have been and there are a lot of boxes instead. The garden in front is so nicely curated. You can tell this is a community that cares. read more

This one of those over and above type stories about postal employees who don't get the praise they should. First, as we are in semi temporary housing until we stay or go again, so the mail is not delivered to our mailbox, we get packages ok and mail goes to our PB box. Challenge... So..... I had bought my wife a birthday present to be delivered by DHL. A fun personal present. I told our wonderful post guy Josè if he ever comes across a box please put it at the door. Sure, he says with a nice big smile. After the third email confirmation that DHL had given it to usps to deliver... I thought oh no. The email said it was delivered and no one had it. So, I called the Solana Beach PO and Joaquin talked me down. "Peter, we will find it." Truly cared. Well, a day later after Joaquin called again and said Josè is on it . Next day it was delivered to my door with a big smile. "We found it!" Wow! Great great service! A day later, happy wife and a follow up call from the PO to make sure I'm good!!!! Thank you Josè and Joaquin for going above and beyond! read more

If you need to drop off mail but Lao want to see the beach, this is the perfect post office to visit. Tons of parking available on the street as well as across the street on the public lot. Service is provided with a smile. I'll be back again when I need stamps. read more

How the post office keeps as organized as they do is beyond my understanding. So overall they do a pretty good job. But when you have to come to pick up a package and it's nowhere to be found, and the staff just don't care, it's frustrating. read more

I have lived in Solana Beach since 1976, and been using this post office all these years. I travel all the time, so they take great care of my requests to hold mail and to forward it. Most recently, I had a very complicated, frustrating issue with the post office in Doral, Florida (Miami area) where I am staying. Over the last few months, I spoke with Joaquin and also to Laura. They were most helpful. Richard was able to check the status of my request and assure me that everything was in order at their end. He even called me back to see if I had been able to speak with them. What an outstanding employee! Solana Beach Post Office is so incredibly efficient, courteous, and helpful to their clients. The most baffling customer service I've ever received at a post office. No one was at the desk when I came in and it took several minutes for a man to come out. He asked if I had QR codes for my envelopes that I wanted to ship and said he couldn't help me unless I had those. I asked if he could type the addresses in on his end (as I typically have done at the post office when I ship things) and he finally said OK. I asked if he had tape to seal my three small envelopes and he told me I would have to buy a roll of tape for $4. None of the other post offices I've been to have ever had a problem with me using small pieces of their tape to seal envelopes or small packages. Baffled at this treatment, I walked out without mailing my packages. That was a complete waste of my time and energy. Will be going to a different branch from now on. read more

The staff is super nice and the garden path out front is great 5 stars for that but it's a USPS so as far as having to mail packages it's the most archaic location in town. You must get in a line for everything and there is always a line. No dropping off anything with a pre-printed label. No self service stamp/ postage machine. No pre-scanner. No outgoing boxes with an opening for anything larger than an envelope.Not even a scale drive elsewhere , also not part of my review but fyi for several months there has been a lot of construction in the area if you are heading south upon exiting this location. read more

The best USPS Office in the North County, bar none. Eric is always there, and so helpful.. always asks the right questions. Makes suggestions and get everything right! With a great happy attitude. He saved me today when I turned in a package...i didn't put an apartment no. on it . He asked "...sure there's not an apartment no.?" I said, humm., No, I don't think so. BUT I got home and later in the afternoon, I looked at the address and there was an apartment no., I Ieft it off. I called the office after closing. They answered, I got Eric on the line, and told him, he went and put the apartment no. on my package for me! Saved me!! Everyone there is great, friendly, and special Kudos to ERIC!! THANKS ERIC!! This is not concerning the office per say, but the mail delivery in Solana Beach. I can not mention the name but he is obviously getting old and needs to retire. His attitude is so poor,he is rude and lazy. Several times the office has been notified but nothing appears to have been done.No wonder he doesn't give a shit. Is this what my tax dollars pay for. It was hard to figure out which driveway to use and the sign that says "Customer Parking" is damaged and tilted. Parking is sparse and instead of the usual drive-up island with mailboxes, the mailboxes are located on the sidewalk outside the post office so that one has to stop in the middle of the street to use them. read more

This is the best USPS store I've been to in a long time. Line moved so quickly because they had FOUR cashiers AND they were friendly! Never have I ever seen so many smiling faces in a USPS. Very refreshing. I was in and out with zero complaints. Parking was a breeze out front with street parking. read more

Don't go here the service is the worst I have ever received, the man behind the counter was sooo rude, insulted me and told me to go back where I came from, the other people in line were very surprised at his comments. Helpful folks, great service here. I noticed two of of the customers where embarrassingly rude to the man behind the counter. He kept is cool and helped them out. That was pretty strange. This post office reminds me of small town America. Everyone is so friendly. The lines are never horribly long. This is the only post office I actually enjoy going to because everyone is so happy! It also has a great location right by the beach. Grab your mail and walk over to fletcher cove to read it with a view of the coast. read more

Went to Post Office in Solana Beach today and walked out. Lines are long and the staff is not very friendly or helpful. I'll go back to my friendly Post Office in Sorrento Valley. The lines may get long there, but at least they're friendly. read more

USPS is NOT a MailBox etc, where you'd pay more to ship a box for their willingness to finish taping your package. It is a Post Office where it is expected that you will come in with your package ready to go. The employees are pleasant and helpful. The line can be long at certain times of the day, especially towards closing time. Nice home town feel. And by the way, the community is responsible for the landscape facelift that happened in 2015 or so and continue to maintain it. Good community feel. read more

Margie was very rude to my wife and I and when we asked her for additional help, she pulled out her "closed for service" sign in the middle of helping us and told us she was a federal employee and thus there was nothing we could do "to her." An unfortunate comment followed by offensive behavior, thankfully we recorded it to file a formal complaint. read more

The worst customer service. One of my packages mysteriously disappeared but was confirmed as delivered and I called for days trying to follow up on this. No one called me back like they said they would, and every time I called the put my on hold for 15 minutes until I would finally hand up,call back later only to go thru it all again. I'm at the multiple post offices multiple times a week. The people that don't understand that tape isn't free and that sometimes when it's busy, there's a line, really need to drop the entitlement (or just print out a label at home, buy your own tape, and never wait in line again!). All the workers in solana have been nothing but nice to me, and at the worst indifferent. Maybe it's because I'm a regular? Probably more because I treat them courteously and with respect, which is less than I can say for some of the nut jobs that need to come in and take care of postal business. Have typically experienced good service here, although most recently, they didn't give me notice that they had received a package for me. Occasional long lines; recently, there was one clerk there and a long line. Probably the result of cutbacks. USPS needs to make changes to become more efficient without impacting the level of customer service. read more
