I came here today with my 2 month old baby to pickup a package that I had missed since I wasn't home. While waiting in line after about 15 minutes my baby starts to cry so I already know I better hurry up and leave. When it got to my turn the clerk ( Mexican lady with short hair to her shoulder) looked at my paper and told me I had to go to the blue door. I told her no because I had to pay for it. She takes my paper and returns after a minute telling me she couldn't find my package so I had to go to the blue door. As irritated as I was with my crying baby, I went to the blue door and waited again for another 10 minutes. I could've told her to quit being lazy and do her job and go look for my package but I didn't since I didn't want to ruin my day as bad as it was already. She's also lucky because it's the holidays so I tried my best to keep my cool. Not to mention it was rainy as hell so I wanted to get out of there as soon as I could. I've been coming here for over 5 years and I have never seen this lady so she must of just started. She has no customer service skills, perhaps she should go work somewhere else. When she was helping the gentlemen in front of me, she was rude too. Next time I'm going to stick to the Hmong lady and gentleman, they're more professional and they have always gave me good service. I have been having consistent problems with my packages but being at the post office. Our mail is being held because they have not fixed the broken boxes. Horrible, just horrible. If you call, it just rings and rings and then someone picks up the phone and hangs up. I have had post office employees tell me that there boss refuses to answer the phone. The post office picks up at my house daily. A Substitute is filling in...it's 9:28 and no pickup. Priority Mail, 2 day delivery won't happen again. I guess I need to look at another carrier. I just don't understand why the public is not permitted to call the Clovis post office (and I presume other PO's as well) directly with a question. The ONLY option is to call an 800# and being told that the wait time would exceed one hour! That's not acceptable. Only other option is to drive 8 miles and ask face to face. Lordy, where to start with this one: 1. Getting in and out of the parking lot is a nightmare. Traffic flow is laid out so that cars dropping off passengers completely obstruct cars trying to enter the parking lot. This can cause lines clear out into the street and is a nightmare for folks trying to enter from southbound on Minnewawa, who have have to wait for oncoming traffic to clear for quite a while before they can even attempt a left-hand turn. A couple of times I've been half way through a left turn and then have been forced to stop, incurring horns honking, interesting hand gestures, and withering stares from all the northbound Minewawa drivers I've blocked. 2. The service counter has four stations, but only rarely are there more than two employees manning them. During the height of the December holiday rush, there might be three employees. Even during the least busy times of the day, it's not at all unusual to pull a service number and discover that they're helping someone whose number is 30 or 40 digits down. For example, you pull ticket #75 and look to see that ticket #40 is being helped at the moment. Grab a seat, because you're going to be there for a while. 3. I've seen people on Thorazine drips move faster than the counter help at this post office. There's one gal (and if you've ever been in this post office, you'll know *precisely* who I'm talking about), who moves exactly like a slow-motion mime. All she needs is white face paint, a black beret, and a black and white stripped shirt, and she could make a killing on the Santa Monica Pier. She even talks slowly. "Nuuumbeeerrrr twweeeeeeeeentyyyyyyy twwwwoooo. Noooowwww seeeeeeeeerrrrviinnnggg Nuuuuuumbeeerrr tweeeeeeennntyyyyyyyy twwwwwooooooo," she'll drawl. 4. The man behind the parcel pickup counter is nice enough, but again, there's only one of him trying to help lots of folks. He'll take someone's orange parcel pick-up card, disappear into the bowels of the post office, return a few minutes later with the package, take another orange card, disappear, come back in a few minutes, and so on. And so on. And so on. And so on. Meanwhile, patrons get calls that their children have graduated from college, have moved to Chicago, and that they've become grandparents. All while they've been waiting to hand the guy their parcel pickup card. 5. The carrier who delivers my route gives service that leaves a lot to be desired. S/he can't seem to manage to put a magazine into my box without ripping the covers on other pieces of mail, and a couple of times I've come home to find a parcel left on my door step. While I don't have a problem with that per se, my front door is in a very public place, clearing visible from the street with lots of foot traffic passing by. Twice that I know of I've had packages stolen from my front door before I could get to them. I'm very fortunate to have friends who will let me have packages delivered to their homes and/or offices, so now I don't need to go to the post office for hardly anything anymore. read more

I'm laughing right now because I do, in fact, know precisely the slow-motion mime of a woman that the other Yelper is referring to. The same woman always gives me problems when I'm trying to ship packages - telling me that I filled out customs forms incorrectly, when I've only filled out them out 100 times previously without a problem. - She also asks if I'm concealing anything liquid, perishable or flammable inside my plain, white, #10 envelopes. I once sent out a card that had a tiny smudge on it and she informed me that she wasn't able to send it out because it was against the law. (I bought the stamp from her and stuck it in the mailbox myself.) Cheeky old broad. There is another woman who is supposed to man the stamps station, but is usually not there - and then when people line up to buy stamps, she informs them that they must wait in line with everyone else. Not sure if it's the fresh Clovis air or if they stumbled upon a package of cocaine, but there's something crotchety and just plain stupid about a few of these workers. Use the automated package center - it takes a few tries to feel comfortable with it, but it's worth not having to wait in a long line only to be greeted with "Sorry, I'm not able to mail that because you dripped a spot of coffee on it and I suspect there's a suspicious explosive inside." I am being generous by giving this post office 1 star. I am a seller on ebay so the post office picks up from my home daily. My regular carrier is wonderful but every time they have a substitute carrier something happens. 2 times this year a temp carrier has stolen a package and since they never entered the tracking # it is my word against theirs. Try to call my local office and the phone just rings until someone picks up the phone then hangs up. I did this off and on for over 3 hours. This has happened on several different occasions. To long of story to continue but because of theft, negligence and lack of concern I have notified consumer affairs. I really hope this helps possibly to straighten out this office being that my hands are tied and can't go to another facility. I also have noticed that the majority of complaints for the post office is in Clovis branch...I don't think this is coincidental and if you want to listen to the phone just ring call 559 297-9593 and see if they answer the phone! read more

I don't even know why I'm posting on a government run organization. Terrible service to say the least. Went to get a shipping box today and there were none out on the counter so I stood in line to get one. Wanted one of there standard sizes but almost had to argue with the women at the counter about it. They seemed to have no clue as to what the size I was asking for. Pretty inept. So far the only one I've had good luck with is the blond woman at the counter (hope you get her), she seems the most helpful. I finally went to the local package/post shipper and he was more than helpful. Thumbs down for sure. I've lived in Clovis most of my life and this is just a disappointment. read more

Until now, I have avoided this post office and did all my business in Woodward Park (Nees Ave), which is awesome in terms of professionalism and quick service. This location is very disorganized, but I had no choice but to stop by because my express mail package was sent to this location. When I got there, there were 3 lines- one for picking up packages with notices, a regular line, and a money order line. People were waiting on the money order line for a long time because the one money order person was on a break... then became preoccupied with helping 3 other people.. then had a chat with a friend whose daughter brought her flowers and deserved a piece of candy for that. I mean, really. That's cute and all, but I felt pretty bad for the people waiting to buy money orders. It took 3 people to find my express package. I was dreading the worst case scenario "oops we don't know where it is," but sometimes 3 heads are better than 1. All 3 lines doubled during the time I was there. Wow... Outside, there was an anti-Obama protester who set up a tent by the curb. There was a picture of Obama with a Hitler moustache, which is in really poor taste. An African American lady on her way to Dollar General across the street yelled at the protester and a couple of people who were signing his petition. At Woodward Park, customers enjoy a high level of service. Here, you can feel and witness a wide range of frustration, anger, and confusion. read more

This was the advice I received: Sign up for the free service, "informed delivery." Now I am supposed to get a daily email with an image of letters addressed to me that have arrived at the post office. This post office is absolutely fine. The workers a brusque and efficient, so they can come off as 'rude' to those who were raised to expect service workers to hold their hands like little babies. Most people have no idea of the sheer volume the USPS is expected to do on the daily; the clerks are there sorting mail at like 5 am every day. It's not like a bunch of bored teenagers manning a counter top. Respect your postal workers, because they work in conditions far more difficult than many people understand, let alone would tolerate. My 2 month experience here so far has been so frustrating. A friend had told me I could get free boxes & when I asked here I was told no so I started buying mine. After 10 shippings i found out I was overspending. There are free boxes for priority mail at different sizes. And why would you choose flat rate boxes over the brown boxes? The brown boxes are way cheaper. I have no idea why they led me to those flat rate. One afternoon I got here at around 4:45, more than enough time to ship a small box, and they had me going back and forth saying I needed tape, then that I could do the self service, and minutes later that it didn't take cash when that's all I had, eventually I had to go to the back with all their long-day attitudes. His response to my complaints was "I don't know what to tell you" I told him the post office had many bad reviews on Clobis and his response was "on Yelp?" This post office is very inconsistent, some times the wait for line can be as long as 30-40 minutes while sometimes the wait is only 3-10 minutes. The look of this post office is really dull and for sure not going to draw you in, the cheap tiles and scary fluorescent light, the poorly done lines and the lack of staff at certain counters to pay foo your package like the envelope and packaging counter in never tendered at all. The staff service here is not too bad, they are friendly enough but not congenial enough, can't complain. But really slow, and I think they don't have enough staff to cover certain booths and certain areas like the packaging service counter. There is also not many automated machines for a developed country. For a country that is so rich, the American Govt sure doesn't know how to make a post office that does not look like a 3rd world country. Mail forwarding and hold problems I was away for a trip to a specific location. So I paid for the USPS temporary mail forwarding service and then for the final 12 weekdays, set up the vacation mail hold. Two weeks before the forwarding ended, I was concerned that nothing at all had yet been forwarded. So I mailed a letter to my home address. Now a month after that mailing, I am home. The letter I sent was never forwarded to me, and it is not in the held mail. In fact, there was no mail held. Even the credit card statement that I know was sent at the start of the mail hold period never arrived. I do not know what USPS did with my mail, but everything (with one exception) that was sent to me in the past 6 weeks has disappeared. The Clovis Post Office utterly failed in the forwarding and holding of my mail. And making matters worse, they apparently discarded all but one piece of mail sent to me. This is beyond incompetence. Update: Three days after the hold ended, my held mail was delivered. And it clearly included at least one piece of mail that surely arrived about during the forwarding period but was not forwarded. So I am upgrading the rating from 1 to 2 stars. Mail was not thrown away, but it was not forwarded, and it was not delivered until 3 days after the hold had ended. So there is a lot of room for improvement. read more

Parcel boxes are in the lobby and only available for access during business hours M-F not very well laid out from a business standpoint I've had PO Boxes in other cities prior the parcel boxes were accessible all hours. read more

Over the past few years I have noticed a big change in the positive attitude and helpfulness of the USPS employees. I have had some problems in the past few years with other post office locations re their attitudes but not the Clovis branch. Other than long lines at certain times of the day, this facility in my opinion is doing its job well. I have had my parcel box broken into several times and have made request to have packages left at post office with notice for me to pick up especially when I'm on vacation I have called Dan and left notices. Those post office actually still delivers packages randomly at door or box then has the nerve to deliver the message indicating I wanted them left at the post office for pick up. I have called for two days now it just rings and rings then they pick up and hang up on me. This post office is ridiculous. I've been a box holder for over 1 year. Counter service has improved somewhat, with a dedicated postal employee helping the customers standing in line. He (or she) will take prepaid packages, make certain that customers have the proper forms filled out and answer questions. Usually saves about 10-20% of customers from waiting in line. Box holder experience is still terrible: this location regularly holds small packages, rather than placing them in the overflow boxes. This means that you have to go in during business hours - or between 10:00A and 2:00P on Saturday - and stand in line at the parcel window to get your mail. It completely defeats the purpose of a post office box. Over the past 15 years, I've had a P.O. box in 7 different California locations (including Fresno) and never experienced this problem. read more

Lost my PO Box key 6 months ago. I wanted to get a replacement but they said that the person that handled this was out and nobody could help me for 6 weeks. We moved into a rental home in February. We were issued a key to our community mailbox that did not work well. In fact, we couldn't even get it in the lock. So we went to this post office and explained the situation and the guy said we'd have to have it switched out and in the meantime, we'd have to drive down to get our mail at this post office, which is pretty far. So he told us to put some WD40 in the lock. Worked for awhile but we'd still have to jiggle the key to get it to work. So then after several months, it stopped working again, so we just changed out the lock with one of our own. We were happily getting our mail for about two months before we received a letter in our box that said if we did not put the original back on, they would not deliver our mail until we did. So we put the old, broken one back on. Now today, the key won't go in at all again. read more
