Absolutely the worst, unprofessional, rude and lazy workers. I went to send a package today and there was nobody at the counter, as I was getting my package ready, a man came in, waited for 5 minutes, noone showed up, so he knocked on the counter, the old, gray hair women came out and asked him why was he rushing her, he told her he has been waiting for 5 minutes and he had an appointment for passport at 11am and would like to have it taken care of. She said she was gone for a minute and nit to rush her. I took his back and said he has because I've been here for longer than that. In the meantime more people showed up with passports appointments and she said she won't do them cause she is the only one on duty and is not going to do two people jobs. I cane to the counter and said I would like to send my package and she told me to go somewhere else cause she won't do it. I told her it was her job and she said she won't. I asked to speak to a manager and she told me I can call her if I want to and maybe she will help me because she is not going to. She also took a picture of me with her cell phone and when I said I was going to call police for that she told me to do so, so that they can come and she will have them remove me! At the end she didn't send my package and she didn't help neither one of the people waiting with passport applications. Everyone left. That's the customer service they give at that location. This is the worst post office that I ever been too. There is one lady, I don't know here name but she is black, short and skinny, she don't like customers with an accent, or customers in general. especially if they wanted to renew or apply for a passport. She is rude and always cut you off telling you that you are the one cutting her off. She also quickly escalates and raising her voice. She randomly places a piece of note at the entry door from Gunnison saying "no passport applications will be accepted today". Not only that, they also keep those doors close to make customers believe that they are closed. This is clearly violation and a fire hazard. This USPS Gunnison ave office is an abomination - Its always a MESS around and behind the counters; Filthy; all kinds of papers, forms etc just hanging out, misplaced or abandoned. Funny as the area WHERE the forms SHOULD BE, are always empty and never refilled. Only ONE person working the check out kiosks (They are 3 and only ONE in use) - and on average a line of 8-10 folks or more waiting to check out. The automated kiosks are ALWAYS down or broken; They NEED to close this facility or move the dead weight of workers to the walls behind; bring in some YOUNGER blood to help move us (the customers) to handle our business and move on. You spend on average a waiting time of 20-30 mins waiting in line while in a mask; standing there. I feel most sorry for the elderly folks waiting in line, they being yelled at because the workers are FORCING them to understand what is being told to them. I was so frustrated; I went to the nearby USPS office on irving park near narragansett - and I was out in 10 mins... Save yourself some time; DO NOT VISIT THIS OFFICE. Just awful when I moved here i had a thriving eBay business. They refused to pick up my packages when I moved here and I got a lifetime ban from eBay. If i could file a suit against them I would. Smart young man at the window, never a smile or a kind word, he lost my 1st change of address card, my second trip there to see where my mail is, he gave me another card to fill out and I put in where he instructed me too. I'm still 4 months now without mail. Filed a service request with the Post Office to FIND MY MAIL. They said Harwood Heights would contact me within 2 days, that was on 12-2 "STILL WAITING:" Just got a survey about how well the USPS handled my case, Ummmmmm you did nothing for my case and Harwood Heights NEVER contacted me. The subtle pink slip of paper sitting in my mailbox declared that I was unable to obtain my 6 Amazon boxes because I was negligently not available when the temp carrier stopped by-except I was home all day AND the carrier didn't ring the buzzer! Too hard to reach 5 feet to do it. A closer look illuminated that the carrier had NO intention of a second delivery attempt, crossing out all options and informing me that I must go to this location to pick them up... after 10am, because that's when its convenient for them. As I was heading out of town in two days, and they'll happily return your parcels if you don't come get them in three days, I had to make a 'special' trip to the address on the card to DIY. Waiting until the instructed time, I parked my fully caffeinated self in the crumbling parking lot, walking slowly to meet my fate. Despite the many 'self service' kiosks in place of humans, some transactions that require 'interaction' and Octavia was on duty. Showing the magic card to her I asked politely why the carrier refused to deliver. She of the legacy work force bellowed, "Can't you read the sign?" Forcing a piece of paper at me with an address written on it. "They've been up for months. If you have a problem with it, take it up with the supervisor over there, I have nothing to do with it." I was confused-I barely step foot into this place and with good cause. Glancing at a faded 8x10 piece of paper with a handwritten note, the postal service had declared months ago that this Post Office no longer handles parcels.. the location at 7350 W Agatite Ave, Norridge, IL now does. One might ask why the post office didn't 'mail' something out with this news, such an action would require forethought and funds which seems are in short supply here. I asked about the card address directing me here. "Its not my fault the carrier used an outdated card", she declared. Indeed it is not. It is our fault for allowing our quality level of customer service to fall to such a low bar that one can trip over it. **** The Agatite location is 'depot' is not a post office, but rather a warehouse of packages and people who should be someplace other that where they are. The dingy desk area as it was contained a pen secured to the Formica and a lonely bell, whose tone I summoned upon my arrival. She of the manicured nails, happily addressed me with a "What?" seducing me into a lull which indicated my service would be excellent here. presented the card and inquired about my parcels, which happened to be 25 feet away in line of sight. She walked off without a care. Upon her return, I asked to file a complaint, as it was appropriate given my energy should at least be matched in the inquiry process. She begrudgingly took the details and my drivers license, departing once again. Another 'worker' yelled pointing to the spot where my boxes sat, "The temp carrier is driving their personal car, and the stuff just doesn't fit in it". My reply of "I don't care I just want my stuff" was met with a harrumph. Returning with "The second shift driver should have brought these but she is frail and I guess she just didn't", She continued with "The supervisor was 'busy' and would 'call me when she had a minute'" and passed my license back to me. I reminded her that I still needed the boxes and that I could see them. She walked away and proceeded to kick them in an attempt to gauge their weight. Then out of sight, a man with a rolling cart came back to the spot she pointed at, and placed them on to the cart and walked off. She was now required to push the cart to me. Meanwhile, a guy entered the location who jokingly asked if I was having an 'excellent customer experience'. I replied in my 35 minutes I have been trying to get 6 boxes 25 feet and through a door with hopes of getting them into my vehicle to do my own personal delivery. Struggling with the bulky cart, the two of us helped to hold the doors open so the parcels could make their appearance. She then walked quickly away leaving all in the hallway, her job was done. When asked about help to get them to my car, She erupted in a tirade of 'Do I look like a delivery person to you? I am a clerk - I don't do that!'. Amazingly, She continued admonishing me with colorful language and a "You shouldn't be buying all this stuff anyway" to finish it off. Stunned, the guy and I stood there. I walked out to move my car into a postal service parking spot, since it now appeared the rest was up to me. I manhandled the cart down the steep ramp and got it to my car bumper when the guy walked over, told me to take a deep breath, and helped load my car for me. Coolly, he whispered, "I wouldn't bother returning the cart, leave it. You don't look like a postal worker either." Touche, my friend, touche. "Can't you read the signs?" My Mom mailed 3 cards on June 25th to three different states and people never received their cards which had gifts in them. Then she mailed a card the next week to another state which was never received. She questioned the post office and of course got a dumb answer that they must have fallen in between machines or are lost. No kidding! I used to enjoy going to this post office branch before the remodel. It was staffed by people from the neighborhood who knew their customers, and treated them as friends and acquaintances. And there were always enough people at the counter to keep the lines down to manageable size. No longer. Since that remodel several years back, all the original Customer Service Reps are gone, replaced by rejects from the unemployment office and the Driver's License facility. I think you know what I mean. The kind of peole who will wander around behind the counter, holding a piece of paper while trying to avoid eye contact or any interaction with their customers. Just like a real government office, where no one is accountable and no one can be fired. It's a tragedy. read more

So I've been living in the area for about seven years and have been going to this post office and the other one on Irving Park Road. The caliber of employees at this location and the woman attendant today that helped me was exceptionally rude, authoritative (she didn't need to be), and frankly didn't deserve to be working with people but deserved to be in some call-center making collection calls to people who owed money on services. After checking out and pressing the yes button for items that were fragile in my packages, she claimed I never pressed yes in the beginning and told me she would not stay up my packages with the word fragile. Overall this visit to the US Post Office in Harwood Heights reaffirms the way I feel about this specific location and its employees - and the feeling is not a good one. A total dis-service yet again from the US Post, you all really need to step up your game and start treating people like people and not like pieces of trash. I hope I get the shorter woman with the witch face again next time so I can be just as rude and snide to her as she was to me this time around. If you're planning on going here, be ready for a treat because that's what you're going to get when dealing with the workers. I was trying to send a prepaid package this afternoon. A postal employee decided that my packaging was not good according to her standard and forced me to purchase a different envelope. My package was secure and previously used by the USPS priority mail, but all marking were covered and not visible. She refused to give me her supervisors name, therefore I couldn't ask for the second opinion if my packaging was acceptable. We need more helpful and customer oriented service there. I was here recently to renew my passport. Now as expected, the lines were long even during the week. But I waited less than 10 minutes, not bad considering I had 7 people ahead of me. Now I had a little bite of trouble filling out the form, but the ladies here were very patient with me. Horrible! Says 830 open on door and a guy pulls up at 845 and I ask what time they open and he says 9. I say so the door is inaccurate? And he ignores me. All I wanted was the self service. It's a post office. Mail goes in, gets trucked out and sorted to another facility. Letter carriers are based out of another building. The staff inside are ok. They put up with a lot of crappy customers, but still are friendly and helpful. Overall, I'd go here to send non-critical mail or to do regular transactions. For more critical packages or letters, go to the Schaumburg / Woodfield, Carol Stream, or Arlington Heights post offices. read more

My family and I were there this Saturday, April the 7th 2018. The lady behind the counter by the name of Octavia was extremely rude and vile. Previous to stopping by this office, I was at the one on Narragansett and Irving Park and was told no passport agent was available. We made our way to the Gunnison location and before getting into the long line, I wanted to make sure an agent was available before I wasted my time again. I asked this lady if I can ask a question and much to my horror, she stops me and says (while pointing to her coworkers) "you can go interrupt them!" among other remarks. I brought in a large manila envelope to be overnighted, but hadn't included an address yet. It had been a while since I'd been to a USPS office (with good reason) and wasn't sure if they print out an address label like FedEx. Immediately the lady behind the counter snapped, "There's no address on here. Haven't you ever mailed a letter before?" She was so rude and unpleasant that I stepped back and waited for the next available assistant. Sadly, bad customer service is not unique to this Chicagoland USPS location. I've had many unpleasant encounters over the years. There are probably a lot of reasons the US postal service is failing.
