It's always frustrating to come here. I came to pick up a package on a Sat that was supposed to delivered the day before. They said they left the notice but I never saw that. After waiting for an hour in line, I was as told that they can't find my package so I left my phone number. The lady at the window told me the supervisor will call me. I never got the call. I also scheduled the redelivery for Monday & waited for whole day. Again, they didn't come. So I came in again to wait in a super long & slow line. They couldn't find it. I called customer service to schedule another redelivery, hopefully I can get my package on time. Everything upsets me here. They should have better service. I really hope there is a zero star! The lady in the vending machine is helpful. But the lady inside the counter is rude and inpatient! I wait for 25 minutes to buying the envelopes and ship the mail! The lady in the counter refuse to do it at the same time and but only sell the envelopes to me and ask me to go back to the line and wait again!which means I was waiting for 25 minutes for just buying the envelopes but not the mail service!!! And there is no envelopes outside! I can only purchase through counter!! I don't know the counters lady's number or the name! The lady is in counter 9 service in 04/18/2022 at 2PM! I was here for the passport renewal and found service very professional. After appointment I reached and with little enquiry got in the queue for clerk to came. Exactly at my appointment time this clerk Judy called my last name, verify my documents and got everything done very smoothly. She was able to complete whole process within 15 minutes. This place is appalling. We recently moved from Exchange place to another apartment building in Jersey City and set up the change of mailing address information with USPS. When leaving our apartment for the last time, we ran into the mailman, and he said that there was a backlog of change of address requests and that he could hold the mail at this location. Fast forward 1 week. My wife shows up to this location to just see if there is any mail being held here. The gentleman at the held mail window, Fernando, was extremely rude and condescending. First, Fernando said that we could not have a change of address and a hold at the same time. My wife said ok, but she was told that there would be a hold due to a backlog of requests. He said she was wrong and had bad information and that she shouldn't blame the mailman. Now, my wife is generally calm (except when dealing with me) and pointed out she wasn't blaming anyone, she just wanted to see if there was any mail being held. Fernando said, "I don't know who you think you are talking to." My wife got less calm, and said he was being rude, and his tone was unnecessary. Fernando then stormed back to the mail area, and loudly yelled to a colleague, "Hey, how does my tone sound," ensuring that my wife could hear it. I get having a bad day and I understand being in a bad mood generally, but being a complete jerk to a 6 month pregnant woman because you have to do your job is completely uncalled for at any time. Personally, I would have spoken to a manager, but all I get to do is write this review. Avoid this circus if possible. read more

Wow, this operation is terrible. I've had two packages in the last three weeks end up in the hands of the USPS. I have not received either of them to this day. I do not have doorman, so i had both of these packages shipped to my office. Somehow they ended up in the hands of this $5B in debt business run with taxpayer $. There really is a reason why the term "going postal" exists. The experience was the most tremendously frustrating runaround that I've ever experienced. it's a close second to the heath insurance coverage debacle where nobody wants to pay or take responsibility. Pointing fingers doesn't solve anything. I had a tracking number which would lead the average, intelligent person to believe that the post office could locate the whereabouts of said package. This is not the case, ironically turning the very definition of "tracking number" on its head in my opinion. Just curious, why assign a number to a package if it doesn't represent anything of value? To boot the number was about 26 digits. It was like a passcode to the gold reserve in Fort Knox, but it stood for nothing. I felt like I was taking crazy pills, and they made me feel like I was. Why would a tracking number allow us to track your package? I called number on USPS.com leading to the national website associate to give me a telephone number to this local post office. When I called the number I had received, the automated message gave me the same number to the national post office that I just spoke to. I told them that I had just spoken to them, and the number took me in circles. They gave me the number to the Post Master General. That sounds important, but all she did was gave me another number that rang and rang with no answer. I gave up, and I explained my saga to the company that shipped my purchase (USB cables). They were nice and shipped a replacement 2nd day air to my apt. I'm glad that the private sector is still functioning the way capitalism intended. This post office drives me mental. I realize that everyone including the USPS is short staffed these days, but come on guys! I'm an early bird...I get to most places just as the door opens. One time, not too long ago I arrived at my local post office at 8am with the intention of being in and out. My goal, mail a package Priority Mail via the Do It Yourself box. While the machine to buy the stamp worked, the handle to the box where you put the packages was jammed. Me and one other woman had to wait 15 minutes for a staffer to open the box so we could place our packages in there. The reason why the box was jammed was b/c no one thought to empty the bin the evening before. The thing I do like about the Post Office is the exterior. Nice building to look at. read more

I would give the post office a zero star if that is possible. A few weeks ago I walked into my building to find my package opened and dumped on the floor by the mailboxes in my building. When I went through the content of my package, I discovered that all of the contents (clothes) were taken out of the individual plastic bags they were originally packaged in and one piece of clothing was missing from the package. After asking around the residents in the building, I found out that others in my building had the same problems happened to them. Coincidentally, every time this happens, it was delivered by USPS. This never happens when the packages were delivered by UPS, FedEx or DHL. We were told that employees at the post office are notorious for opening people's packages and stealing the contents. I rather pay more for shipping to ensure that it's done by other delivery services than have USPS deliver my packages ever again. read more

The Post Office @ 69 Montgomery Street has miss delivered my packages on multiple occasions. They don't pick up the phones or you are told the mailbox is full. I have heard other people complain about the lack of service. They mark things delivered, and they are not. The Postmaster needs to make them accountable. Please if you have a problem report it online or by phone to the USPS headquarters. read more

A real hit or miss post office. The general service people are pretty average but the claim window led by Fernando is the worst kind of service there is. Worse than the DMV, pretty much everything you DO NOT want in customer service. Be prepared to wait too, you're on his time and he clearly doesn't want to be there. read more

Not only did you take 20 minutes to find a letter, you clearly did not hear me when I said it might be addressed to someone besides me, and subsequently blew up at me for not having the "right name". If I have to unfortunately find myself in a post office, I'd at least hope it was this one. Post offices are all slow, and lean towards the inefficient. But that aside, this one is NOT the slowest I have been in. I have spent countless hours of my life waiting in post offices in Manhattan and in comparison this is really not bad. The workers are polite and patient- you have to be in order to deal with some of the people on these lines that appear to have anger issues or act like they've never been in a post office. (What is it about post office lines that brings out the crazy impatient child in all of us? Calm down or I'll send you to time out.) Also, the architecture of the building is fabulous. So the next time you're waiting in this line, take a deep breath and look around, enjoy the view. read more

I'm giving them mixed reviews. I have been here twice to mail out a large number of work related mailings. I've had one really great experience, and one terrible experience. My really good experience happened most recently. I had some complicated international mail to send, and the person working the counter did a great job answering my questions and telling me my best options. I almost felt like I was in a place that had good customer service and people that liked their job. I say almost because the line moved very slow and next to the window that I was using (with the friendly, polite, helpful, nice worker) sat your stereotypical surly, bitter, unhappy, government drone. While waiting in the long line, I was keeping my fingers crossed, because this was the person with whom I had a very bad experience....see below....but I lucked out to get help from the postal worker I did, who is clearly a kind, generous, friendly person. I'm not going to go into too much detail about my previous experience, except to say that the employee that helped me made it clear that they did not like their job and couldn't be bothered with questions that they think are stupid...I live in 2015....I use my computer to pay bills and send correspondence...NO I DON"T KNOW THERE ARE 20 STAMPS IN A BOOK! That is NOT a stupid question. In all the years that I have been going to post offices, I have seen the spectrum of friendly helpful workers and typical apathetic, lethargic, and even angry people. Calling this place trash is an insult to garbage cans. Id warrant rude behavior if either of the only three stooges working in a 10,000 sq foot warehouse actually were able to perform their job. There was a lady who was working in the middle counter on December 17, 2022 around noon about 11am, she was lie to her customers because she just don't do her work. We went to mail something to our parents and she told us that they don't have large box then we asked her for international mail we knew they have the larger size, she said no and she asked us backed to the long line three times just because she didn't want to do her job. After that a lady who worked around the line to answer customers questions helped us and confirmed that they did have the large box for internal mail. We really appreciate the later help. But for the lady who worked on the middle counter was a liar and she obviously has racism. How terrible it is!!! This is absolutely unacceptable and not right because if no one stand out to stop this, it could happened again and again and to every of us! ! She worked in Number 9, the middle counter on Saturday 17, 2022 around 11am. I have been live this are for so many years, don't want this happened again to any of us. read more

After seeing the reviews for this location, I have to admit I was a bit terrified walking through the doors. Let me set the scene, New Years Eve and I had a high priority package that I wanted to send out. I was surprised to see that unlike the majority of the other businesses, they were not closing early for the holiday. It was about 3:30, toward the tail end of the day. The line was about 5 people deep, so I was already expecting at least a 30 minute wait - especially since it looked like there was only 2 stations opened. To my utter surprised I found myself face to face with Janett after only about 15 minutes. I explained to her my situation with my package. I had packaged my item in a slightly larger package, she popped away for a quick second and came back with a slightly smaller box explaining that it would save me a few bucks on postage and insurance. She walked me through all of the options and once we decided on the appropriate option, she proceeded to help me to package everything up. Throughout the transaction Janett was super sweet and cheerful - clearly she was one of the people who genuinely enjoyed what she did and she was damn good at it. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes, not that I would have minded being there a bit longer - this location was absolutely beautiful with high ceilings with the intricate columns. A few things to note, make sure that all packages that you are sending out are properly sealed - if not they will turn you away, unless you want to purchase supplies. USPS also provides a few free flat rate boxes in various sizes for their customers. Credit/debit is accepted as well. read more

3 major issues with this place. Thinking about this USPS just makes my blood boil. 1. I moved to Jersey City over a month ago. I started sending bank and work letters to my new address. I also changed my voter registration and insurance. I also signed up for mail forwarding from my old address. I haven't received a single piece of mail because the Jersey City USPS doesn't think my address exists, even though I am Unit #3 in a 4 unity apartment building that has been around since the late 1800s. So my important, private, sensitive mail is in some Jersey City USPS black hole. I have called the USPS in Jersey City directly, however no one answers the phone ( have called almost 100 times at this point) and their mailbox has been full for well over a month now. There is no other way to contact them and the workers in the office are extremely rude and unhelpful. I raised a complaint and case with USPS overall. That is also still on going. I honestly think there is a major issue with mail sorting, the driver, or someone must be intercepting my mail and it's an inside job. Entertaining all possibilities at this point. 2. All other carriers (UPS and FedEx) find my address and deliver packages just fine. USPS never delivers my packages. Amazon actually raised a case with them over this issue and have tried to deliver 2 packages to me, both unsuccessful. I believe they will try to go through UPS for the next one since USPS is obviously incompetent. Sadly sometimes UPS drops packages off with USPS to deliver to my address, those packages also go missing. 3. I tried to send a package from this USPS office and the lady at the counter was honestly the rudest person I have ever encountered at a cash register. She was unhelpful, extremely condescending, and acted like she was doing me a favor even though she should be doing her job. I was nothing short of polite and respectful. Never sending packages from here again, I'll probably just go somewhere by work from now on. I love Jersey City, but this terrible USPS honestly makes me regret moving out of Hoboken. If I knew I'd be losing my mail and I'd have to jump through hoops to talk to someone who can help me, I would've chosen a different city. I'm frustrated beyond belief and at my wit's end. read more

This post office lost a package I'd sent out to a customer back in November. Even with a tracking number and full information, these morons couldn't locate it after an hour on the phone. It had gone out for delivery to the customer's house and the mail carrier lost it. The Post Office said it was probably in the back. They still couldn't find it. Now I'm out $177 for refunding money because some idiot at this post office was too sloppy to do their job properly. Thanks for screwing me over. read more

I'd give negative stars if I could. Mr. Diaz particularly, in the "find packages" department is rude, condescending, disrespectful, and doesn't seem to have any consideration whatsoever. He asked me about my service dog several times and seemed more concerned with that and kept cutting me off when I tried to speak. He was on a personal call and took over 15 minutes to attend to me to begin with. His coworker back there, a female, was quite rude too. I don't think they have ever received training on customer service or have ever heard of the term. Disgusting way to treat people, especially during times like these where compassion and kindness should be of the utmost importance. read more

Reviews of this location are harsh! And only half actally deal with the post office itself. I've waited on line for over an hour at the post office on my side of town, so I bow down to this location. To be honest, I typically only ever come here before 10:00am on a Saturday and primarily use the self-serve kiosk so I am in and out real quick. I have interacted with the staff at the window, one woman in particular at least twice, and I always found her really pleasant and friendly. There are only usually ever two people working at the window and I've seen the line move fairly quickly, but again - I am here early on a Saturday morning. What is the deal with the post office never having more fun stamps? Every time I ask for something available on usps.com, they rarely have it in the actual post office. The last time I came here, it was "later" in the day on a Saturday - early afternoon, and the joint was jumping. Some lady had a passport issue, and there was two people in front of me in front of the self serve kiosk and five people online. I left the hazard lights on my car and was still out in less than ten minutes. read more

I was lucky to go at a quiet time with short lines and a very nice employee expediting me with both a smile and a joke. DO NOT SHIP PACKAGES FROM THIS LOCATION! My parents shipped a very large box of brand name items as gifts, including designer blouses, brand-name shirt and skirt for my daughter, coffee. The box was new and taped overly well. Also shipped were some hand-me-down clothes. What did I receive? I received a small box with a hand-written label from USPS saying that the box had been damaged and they were shipping what they could. What did I receive in the box? Only the items that were hand-me-downs, someone's used perfume, an under-the-bed storage item. My guess? Someone's stealing stuff here and either keeping it for themself, selling it or giving it to friends. Would love to get these back, but as we all know....that ain't gonna happen. It's really refreshing to be able to go to the post office, a city one for that matter, and not have to stand in a line 15 people deep waiting for someone to help you. This location is never busy. At most, even during "peak time", at most I only come across 4-5 waiting in line. The office is beautiful and big, and has a dedicated counter for passport applications in addition to the usual P.O. Boxes and automated machines. When you can step in a post office and spend less than 20 minutes there, that's a successful visit! I recommend this office. read more

This is one of the most beautiful buildings in Jersey City. It looks like a mini-replica of the Farley Post Office on 8th Ave in NYC. I really enjoy the classic architecture of the place. I keep a PO Box here for my business, and I've always been very happy with the price and the service. However, I could only give this place 3 stars, because if you ever go there to ship an item, you're almost certainly guaranteed to wait in line for 15-20 minutes. You're better off going to FedEx or UPS to ship any packages..... read more

Every time I go to this location it's like walking into 1975.... I needed to pick up a package today and the window to the pick-up station was closed. No sign. I waited along with two others. Each of us asked for help from the employees working the main line. When I asked for help, the woman blatantly ignored me and the man told me maybe someone called out sick. I was there at 2PM. Wouldn't you know if your coworker was out sick by 2PM?!?!?!? They made no effort to help, no sign was posted, they just let people sit and rot there. Such a dinosaur of an institution. PS - The package I was there to get was from Amazon that I had re-routed to the USPS office over a week ago and no tracking has been issued. It's probably in Texas. read more
