I have been with this post office branch since 2004 and I'm about to give you an ear FULL, spill the real deal tea. To wrap it all up I've been waiting for my mail to forward since January 2022??? Seriously, Kim and Papi don't hold your breath. And when filing complaints Consumer affairs was now to handle, never once received a returned call. If you have the ability to use a different postal office or can request your sender use FedEx, I highly recommend doing so. I ordered a package that fell into the hands of USPS in August. In September it was transferred to USPS. I was not given a tracking number or anything to notify me that my package was on its way. I had to reach out to the sender who gave me the tracking number USPS sent them, along with a notice saying that because I had not signed for it the package was sitting in the post office. This was in mid September. I scheduled a delivery for September 21st when I would be home and able to sign for it. On September 23rd I received a confirmation that the package would be delivered on September 21st. I then had to call the post office, who connected me to a woman named Theresa and said that she didn't realize the mistake and would send it with the delivery man that day. I then told her that I would not be home that day, which is why I scheduled it for the 21st. She then said they had already sent it out with the post man and she would just catch him when he came back and I could pick up the package from the post office. I went to this office to pick up my package, where I was told to wait for nearly 45 minutes. Then Theresa came out to say, "Are you sure that you didn't get the package because we didn't see it. Are you sure he didn't leave it on your porch?" I explained that they couldn't do that because it required a signature, hence this whole ordeal. She said she would look 'one more place' and 20 minutes later found my package. A couple of days later I was expected to receive another package. It had been marked delivered by UPS, and yet I couldn't find it anywhere. Lo and behold, the package had been handed off to USPS who had marked it delivered and in my mailbox, where it was not. This post office is the most disorganized, disgrace of a public building that I have ever stepped foot inside. The people who work there have no idea what they are doing and it is amazing that this place has not been shut down. There is an obvious disregard for anyone's time and money in this office. I would rather (and have) driven an hour out of my way just so I don't have to deal with this office. And beware of working with Theresa. read more

Glad I didn't read the reviews prior to my recent visit, as they would have scared me off for sure. I was determined to finally get my passport info out for renewal but was slacking off due to sheer laziness. I had everything in the envelope except for the money order which I was going to get at the post office anyway. Big parking lot out front was a good start. Took care of the money order first, then gathered everything only to have to jump in line again. As expected, there were only about two lines open, and yes, it felt as though it took forever. But by the time I was up front, a third window opened and I had a really helpful guy who's name I didn't get. He helped me get situated and I was on my way. Location was great, on Beverly right across from The Grove/Erewhorn. If I need some usps items, this will be one of my new stops. read more

I went here a couple days ago after not having used this location for a while. Now I know why... First of all, when I politely asked the person behind the counter to take my mail, she rudely directed me to the chutes down the hall. Well, as it happens I had been asked to give the items directly to a post office employee as time was of the essence with mailing them out and they did not want to take their chances with a dropoff box. But the employee's attitude was so unhelpful that I didn't want to explain this to her. (Really, was it so much to ask? They were just a few postcards and letters--you'd have thought I was asking her to handle raw manure from the way she acted.) Then, when I asked for some postcard stamps, she said she didn't think she had any. When I politely asked her to check if her colleagues had a roll of them (why didn't she think of doing that on her own? Oh, right, her aforementioned attitude), they were similarly unhelpful. I suppose this place rates one star due to the absence of a line, but now I know why people aren't flocking to this location. Your best bet is to skip this place and do any business you have with USPS at the Vermont location near Skylight Books. PS: if any of those employees are reading this, you might Google "post offices closing down" before you get so confident that your rotten attitudes won't come back to bite you! read more

Our horrible mailwoman destroyed an important document from my company by placing her gross sweating drink on top of my mail, smearing my manager's signature and making the entire letter (that I had to sign and send back) look like it had been dropped in a tub. Her drink also sealed the stamped return envelope my workplace sent, making it unusable. My company would never believe me if I told them that not only did my mailwoman take almost 3 weeks to deliver one letter from NC, but she also managed to leak some unknown fluid onto the letter and destroy it. Unfortunately, our building is stuck with this woman who places her nasty sweaty drinks on top of important mail instead of the nice mailman who delivers only a block away. As for the post office itself, the people who work in the post office are generally unhappy and short tempered, like the young black guy, but I'd still pick him every time over the mean, angry middle aged asian woman. Luckily I can avoid actually going into this office most of the time to send anything out, but unfortunately my mail is at the mercy of our mailwoman. It would help if she was even a little friendly, like ever, like maybe saying hello like every other mail carrier I see in my neighborhood, but I guess my building got the worst and most unpleasant one in the area. read more

I received a call from a woman who works at this location about a mistake USPS has made with my change of address and my packages not being delivered. I'm not sure of her name but it was one of the worst encounters I've ever had with a human being. She yelled at me on the phone and would not let me speak. Refused to take my reference number given to me by usps customer service and had the worst attitude. She closed my case that was unresolved and hung up on me. I've complained to USPS but I plan on reporting her abusive behavior and will find and contact the Post Master General for this area. Completely unacceptable. read more

My husband got a notice on Nov. 30 and I went to P/U Dec. 3, the package is not found. Dec. 4 I'm told it's not at the post office and not in the mail truck. WTF? Was then told maybe it was returned to sender. Signature Required and package is lost? I think someone stole it. Why can't they view the cameras? Mailman told Harris he brought the package back to the post office. Now he says I can't fill out a form that it's missing for 30 days, sounds ridiculous. Seriously, A-OK. When you consider that this is 2014, and not even 2004, today's a lot different for many things, including The Post Office. Yep, things ain't what they used to be. There's a 1000 other ways to get your message across town, across the country, across the universe. And who the H needs a Post Office anyway? Well, at least sometimes, maybe you do. The feeling is mutual. But what struck me different the other day at the Bicentennial Branch was that at least the folks here were working with the customers, and not against. They're a little edgy, a little angry, but they knew what was possible and what wasn't possible for their customers. And, for them, I felt how hard it must be to stay nice to a steady stream of often ungrateful people asking countless stupid questions. Totally not meant as a dig, but that's who plays in their sandbox, every day. I had a slightly unique situation involved an envelope and pre-paid postage mixed with a dash of urgency and need for a timely paper trail. To make a long story fairly short, we found an agreeable solution. I like how they have one person combing the queue asking pre-questions to help direct and anticipate needs. From there, the services you may or may not need are clear before you reach your individual clerk. Yes, they've done this for awhile now, but the other day, seemingly bare-bones in staff, they made it work. And, anyone paying attention and trying to work with them, I think, seemed to get it and work with them -- without the stereotypical grumble about the tragic state of service, blah blah blah. I never want to come back here but some of my documents and packages are going through USPS only. They never helped within any situation. This Post Office just gets worse. I would like to leave negative stars. 10 negative stars. Avoid this pit at all costs. No on cares at all about anything. They collect a paycheck. Because of the notoriously bad service we receive at Park La Brea Towers regarding mail/package delivery I decided to request Signature Required on a package from a Seller on eBay. The Seller placed Signature Required on the package. I followed the tracking carefully, and was home all day. The Mail Carrier placed a tag in my mail box stating I was not home, so the package could not be delivered. LIE. I was home. I have a Door Security Camera. No attempt at all was made to deliver, additionally we have parcel lockers which some mail carriers refuse to use. They place the packages in the open to get stolen. The packages are marked "Delivered" so they are off the hook. The Post Office tells you to get a refund from the Seller because you didn't get the item. You did not get the item because the mail carrier did not deliver it properly, and it's the mail carrier's fault. So, I am going into that pit in order to try, and retrieve my package before they lose it, or someone in the Post Office steals it. The place needs to be closed. read more

Came here to process a passport. Made an online appointment and it said they offer pictures at this location. Well that's not true, they will send you to the local CVS. When I got to cvs the girl was very familiar and said they've had a "broken camera" for 2yrs. So don't waste your time just get your pix done beforehand. read more

Lynette at the Bicentennial Post Office skillfully and patiently helped my partner send in a new passport application. Then, when she heard that I was about to renew my own passport, she provided a priority mail envelope properly addressed for that purpose without my even having to ask, and invited me to return as a walk-in for assistance in checking over my final set of forms and materials prior to mailing. Not only is this place COMPLETELY UNORGANIZED but the staff is ALWAYS rude. I watch them give other people attitude, including myself. I raced to get here for a Passport appointment yesterday, just for them to tell me the person wasn't here. So I raced back the next day for a 3:15 appointment just to stand in a line. This post office needs a better system to get there drivers in. They sit on the horn until someone comes out. It's the most annoying thing in the world but also funny because if you live across the street all you hear all day is drivers sitting on the horn to be let in. I read the yelp reviews before I called this post office to try to find a "tracked" package that was lost in their post office. A really nice guy answered the phone and agreed to help me find it. (I was thinking that maybe I'd be able to write a positive review and help them redeem themselves for how they've treated others.) He put me on hold and came back three different times to ask for additional information. After the third time, he didn't come back. After a half hour on hold, someone picked up and asked who I was holding for, and said he went home. The person who picked up agreed to help me find my package. Same thing, she came back three times, then another person picked up. She asked who I was holding for, and she told me that she went home too! It must be a game they like to play on people who call. Not much fun for the caller. Maybe that's what they call "postal" humor. Personally, I don't think it's very funny. This is my first yelp review. I was hoping I could post something more positive. I guess I'll save that one for someone who cares. It must be really horrible working there for them to have such a bitter attitude toward their fellow man. UPDATE: May 6, 2010. I just read some of the other reviews for this post office which had me rolling in hysterics. I guess many of you are not accustomed to dealing with government employees. My rating is based on the context--it's the post office, not a 5-star hotel. I have a PO Box at this post office, so I'm a regular. The best thing that could have happened to this place was the hiring of the woman who assists customers in the line. Despite what the other reviews state, she is extremely helpful, funny, and keeps the line moving. I remember when she wasn't there and how long the lines would always get. As funny as some of the other reviews are, I do think that a lot of the negativity is a reflection of entitlement, especially with regard to the woman who helps people in the line. And why the consistent references to her race and age? What I have witnessed is many customers who don't know what they're doing. They've filled out the wrong form. They have the wrong box. She tells them how to correct these issues in a very direct manner and makes funny jokes along the way. Have a sense of humor people! She's not being rude. I think many of the people around here simply don't like being told that they're wrong. I've also seen tons of customers demanding that the PO remain open when it's closing time and having hissy fits because they missed a cut off time. If the postal workers were to do a favor for everyone who asked, they would never close. They have to be strict about the rules (I'm usually there near closing time). As post offices go, I think this one is reasonably efficient, especially given the very needy customers that come into this particular location. read more

This is a pretty nice post office. Like most government buildings erected in the 1960's-70's it lacks soul and looks eternally grungy, but it's usually clean. They used a lot of glass on this one so it's not as creepy as it's cousin on Western, or worse, the one up in Hollywood. If I absolutely have to go to a post office, I'll find a reason to go this one. They have four self-service postal units which is what I usually use. The line for help by real people is always long so I avoid it if possible. (By the way, I've been going here for twenty years. The line has ALWAYS been long.) There's a pretty decent parking lot in front. I can almost always find parking. read more

Since I wrote the reviews a few years ago, I've received all my mail that I knew was coming. The Bicentennial staff is always nice and courteous and goes out of their way on occasion. The ladies who give out the packages are amazing. Kathleen is a force for the good. I love the way she handles irate customers. I wish they'd give out packages from the outer lobby window again, so we don't have to get too close to other people waiting in line at the window in the inner lobby during covid times. Parking is adequate, but Whoever rearranged the parking design and decided to make us park vertically instead of on a slant made a big mistake. It's now very difficult to see cars that are pulling out or coming either way...all at the same time. read more

The most negative environment you could walk into. I've been to this location a few times and each time was more stressful than the last. Constant yelling from the emotionally unstable dominating woman on the floor (whose only apparent role is to criticize and publicly embarrass customers); and the same vibe from counter workers who lack customer service skills and are intent on making the most simple of transactions an exercise in frustration and condemnation. It's a shame, as I love supporting our country's post offices, but this location is the most glaring of the negative stereotypes...it's frankly hard to believe. read more

Is it possible to leave less than one star? This station is an epic disaster. It's anyone's guess whether they ever deliver the mail, they send out emails stating they attempted to deliver your package at 10:15 pm and left a note stating they could not find your address (try to make sense of that if you can) and they rarely answer their phones if you call to ask about it, and when they do, they generally lie. read more
