Post offices should be held to the same professional guidelines as others in the service industry even though most people would agree that due to being government run, beauracracy will inevitably exist. The Milpitas post office has unprofessional staff and looooooong lines every single time I go there...which is unfortunately at least 4-5 times a month. I hate giving bad ratings, but this hurts so bad inside! I printed out my shipping info from my online account like I always do. I'm shipping out a set of twin turbos for my S4, to be rebuilt. I used a half a role of tape, bubbled everything, took a lot of time making sure these things were going to ok for the ride to SoCal. I contacted the company there like they never showed up? I should have had them back already! Track my package...It was scanned by Milpitas, but never even shipped or anything! For Passport Acceptance, this facility easily receives 0 stars. I don't understand why it takes a few hours to wait in a passport acceptance line if you have already filled out the application online and have already taken your photos. Even then, the facility only processes 40 applications a day and those are gone within an hour of opening. Other passport locations take appointments but they never pick up the phone. So i would just go into the post office personally. read more

I can't understand why basic "people skills" are not a priority for USPS employees here. Every clerk I have encountered has little patience, moderate unpleasantness, and excessive apathy. I understand that they are busy and maybe understaffed at critical times. But it's certainly not the customers' fault. Unfortunately, this PO is near my house. So, to avoid the high probability of becoming irritated just before I get home, I will have to find a PO closer to where I work. Well here it is, my review I've been wondering if I should write. If you notice this post office has one of the worst ratings of an establishment it could possible have, let me tell you why. *Ahem* FIRST off, they have THE WORST attitudes I have ever encountered in my life at a customer service based FEDERAL government company. As well as any other company I've ever encountered! Second, because our regular mail lady was out (who we have never had a problem with in the 7 years we've had her) her fill in was scared of our cat (A FREAKIN CAT) this cat mind you, has never once threatened or hurt anyone and runs away from people even myself because she only lets my mom touch her, filed a complaint that the cat chased HIM..... So now they FORCED us to get a PO Box and pay $96 to get this stupid PO Box that we've never needed before because some idiot was scared of our cat for some unknown reason!! AND THIRD!!! Now that we have this STUUUPIIIDDD PO Box I NEVER get my packages ever!! NEVER!!! They have rerouted my packages all over the world EXCEPT the PO Box I paid for!!!Returned to sender even when I triple checked the PO Box address just to make sure it wasn't me making a mistake!!! I even asked one of the workers if they had my package at the facility and if he could check cause it said it was delivered, he lied to my face and said no! I asked to speak to the manager and she went to the back came back 4 minutes later and low and behold my frikin package was in her hands!!!!!!! She said "oh he must have missed it" are you frikin serious!? How many other damn packages have they missed?? The people who work at this office are the rudest, surliest you'll ever encounter and the jerks who deliver the mail are no different. No customer service at all! If you aren't open when we deliver, we don't care! One day I asked the driver--who was on his route with his this supervisor B I T C H named Valerie--if we're closed when you arrive on our street (we're at the start of a culdesac) can you get us last instead of first? I came here since i've moved to Milpitas, and honestly if i wasn't in a hurry i'll just drive to the one on hostetter. The first time i came was to pick up a package that was sent to the office since i wasn't home. (I live in an apartment) On the note, i can't remember but it wasn't clear like it wrote "office/lobby". I checked with my apartment office first, and they said they didn't have it. So, i went here to ask them about it. The person that helped me was a male without even checking first said no we don't have it. He said to check with my apartment office, and i told him I already did because the note was unclear. He was like no, we don't. He than went to the back and came out with my box. Like that's self explanatory why would you not check before you tell someone something like that? Like they don't give a sh!t, lol. My second thing is that this office unlike the one on hostetter doesn't provide tape or at least not for regular shipping?. They will not ship your shipment if it isn't sealed. I can understand that, but they should really put up signs saying shipping tape not provided. (forced to buy unwanted tape for only inches-- Thanks to the man standing in line who had some LIFESAVER! for 4inches lmao!!!) Anyways, the ladies that helped me were kind of rude/cold to me, but i'm sure they aren't like that 24/7. I just dislike the unprofessional side. No customer service, like would it also kill you to smile too? Out of 50 save the dates for my wedding, one month later 16 people never received it due to "getting lost in the mail!" That is a 30% failure rate from this post office! These were simple postcards! It should have been easy! From now on I will AVOID this location like the plague. I like to think myself a fairly laid back person but this is ridiculous! Passport experience: I went today (a Thursday) to get my passport. I walked in a few minutes before 8am and the line was already almost to the door. Shortly before 9, one of the workers came out and went around with a sign-up list. (I was number 23.) They took 40 people. Some people were holding spaces for others, so the look of the line CAN be deceiving. Once your name is on the list, you can pretty much figure out about what time your number will be called. I bounced and went to get breakfast. My number wasn't called until around 11:45, so if you're #20 and upward, you can probably go home and nap until at least 11. Aside from the waiting, it wasn't a horrible experience. Bring a book. They generally only have one person doing passports, but she knows what she's doing. Make sure you have all your paperwork, and PLEASE pay attention to the signs. They posted at least 4 signs that read "ALL PASSPORT NUMBERS HAVE BEEN GIVEN OUT FOR TODAY" and people still kept coming in trying to wait in the line. (Some lady definitely tried more than once to bribe someone out of their spot.) Apparently Thursday is generally the slow day, but I think it was a bit more hectic due to it being a holiday week. --- In general for non-passport things, I don't have problems with this post office. If you come first thing in the morning, the line will be a bit long, but that's the nature of the time. Between 10 and 12, there were almost always three people working and the line moved very quickly (or there was no line at all). Don't make jokes, though, or ask for "free samples," because that humor goes right over most of their heads! (Sorry, old man.) read more

I don't know why you are calling "Ping" a witch. But she is very helpful & approachable. If you are mad getting or renewing a passport, you have to be patience because they help a lot of people in daily basis and remember that this is the only post office that doesn't need to get an appointment. People get in line as early as 5 am to get a number then come back when the post office is open @ 915 am. If the staff got irritated is because some people are being impatient & kept bugging them. Their job is hard. Can you imagine yourself standing the whole time serving the community? I am glad I don't need to stand on my job. The staff at this office is incompetent and extremely rude. I have had to come here weekly since moving into my apartment, and they are all simply nasty and lazy-a horrible combination. There is always a line out the door whenever I come here. None of them ever smile or even say hello, even after I've said hello to them. I've had multiple times where I have been notified that a package has been delivered either through the tracking # or from the USPS So-called "informed delivery" service. I get there to pick up my mail or packages and somehow they "don't find them" or try to give me some BS excuse as to why they shouldn't have to go back and check again. One of them actually yelled at me for offering my ID as proof of address saying, "I don't need that, I need a piece of mail!" I explained to her that the lady the previous week had specifically told me to bring both my ID and a piece of mail. She said I was lying and that I should just hand her my piece of mail. A different time I had to make a lady go back to look for my packages three different times before she finally found them. Today I get up to the counter and say hello. The lady hardly looks up and just goes, "do you have a package? Because if you don't you need to go wait in that other line over there" and she just points over to some side door without even looking up. I told her that I also need to buy stamps. She just rolls her eyes and tells me that that's fine but when I'm done buying stamps from her I still need to go wait in the other line. I bought the stamps from her and without my prompting, she explained in a snarky tone that she won't go look for my packages because it's too busy so they only have one person doing that right now. I went over to the second line. The guy couldn't find my packages. The same packages the USPS's own tool told me had been delivered. He refused to go look again. While I had been waiting for him to (not) find my packages, I overheard the lady next to me dealing with a customer who clearly wasn't fluent in English. She asked if her package had anything fragile or liquid. They customer didn't understand her. So she said it again louder. The lady shook her head because she didn't understand. "I'M GOING TO NEED A REAL ANSWER FROM YOU-ARE THERE LIQUIDS? IS ANYTHING FRAGILE?! HOW CAN YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THIS? IM NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER HERE, LADY." She then begrudgingly gives the lady a translation on the screen into her own language which she understood just fine. There was no reason whatsoever for the lady's initial nastiness. She felt it was perfectly fine to humiliate a customer because they didn't speak English. What kind of place allows their employees to act this way towards customers? The box that it was shipped in was damaged, there was actually a large hole in the tape that was keeping the package closed, and the box containing my item was damaged. I think these people are LAZY. A package was supposed to be delivered to me which required my signature..but not once did anyone knock on my door. So I receive a redelivery notice and call to schedule a redelivery. Automated phone service POS, whatevs, done. The next day the mailman(who is actually pretty nice) knocks on my door then runs away. I open the door and he said I was supposed to give him something to pick up. We're both confused and he suggests I read the second redelivery notice I got. And this second redelivery notice says "Today's Date 12/22/11" (Today is the freakin' 21st!!!!) So then I call to schedule another redelivery at 4:25. I've been on hold til now and it is 5:15. It says they close at 5:00....maybe I should just hang up. And maybe I should just pick up my package that I had to pay gosh damn shipping for.. -___- read more

Even if there is no queue in regular line, other counters won't process applications even if they are idle. Look into the required documents picture I posted. Another good example why the usps is doing so poorly. Mail carriers coming out of this post office would rather leave orange slip in the shared mail box rather than drive up the driveway. Both ups and fed ex actually drop packages off. I've gotten into it with them and they say we need to install additional package receptacles at the mailbox. Interestingly both ups and fed ex seem to have no issues. The actual post office on Abel is not very efficient. Lots of people waiting to pick up packages in the same line as other people looking to mail items etc. Go into here then go into a ups or fed ex location notice how different it is. read more

I went through all those reviews and initially got worried. but it turns out to be okay and fairly reasonable. I understand all those frustrations, but the problem is really resource issue by the State. office hour for the passport process is between 9am ~ 2:15pm and not everyone is allowed or qualified for doing the passport related tasks. they are restricted by those rules and regulations. And I got this feeling that they are trying their best to serve people. all staffs were very nice and tried to be very cheerful. I was there by 6:20am with my chair and a laptop, and was 5th person in the line. they gave me a number at 8:40am, and that is when I called my wife to bring my newborn. the actual process took about 5 mins only. they were very nice and professional. as long as you know the process and be prepared, it shouldn't be as bad as what others say about in reviews. read more

Today is Friday and the first of the month, so my boyfriend and I made sure to come prepared (thanks to Yelp reviews). :) We arrived with our fold up chairs at 6:45am. Once the line opened, we immediately signed in, got our number (17) and was told to come back at 10:30am. Our number got called at 11:47am and the process took less than 3 minutes. Carmelina was really fast and polite. She later thank us for coming prepared. I would also suggest everyone to do their due diligence to speed up the process. I don't write many reviews but after being super frustrated and treated like I am nothing, I have felt the need to express my feelings about the Milpitas post office. Bottom line, whoever picked up the phone to "help" me was totally evil. She has no intentions to be helpful, nor is she there to provide any customer service what so ever! I just asked if there was an option for me to reroute or pick up my package on Saturday because it was going to my business address and we don't open on Saturdays. I didn't ask her to perform any strenuous actions but her attitude and the way she responded to me made me feel like I just asked her to shoot herself in the head AND then expect her to clean up the mess she just made. This review covers my experience applying for my baby's passport earlier this week. After reading reviews on Yelp I was a bit afraid of the experience, especially since they don't take appointments and process only the first 40 applicants per day. Because parents + child must be present when applying for a minor, my husband went at 7:45 am (they open at 9:15 am). He was third in line. When baby and I arrived at 9 am the parking lot was a zoo. I'd advise arriving much earlier. Eventually (about 15 min later) I got a parking spot. Also, by ~9 am all 40 application appointments were taken. Most importantly, the lady processing the applications was courteous and professional, contrary to what other reviews said. The actual process took about 10-15 minutes. Others took longer, but I could tell some people didn't have all the required documents. Overall: arrive very early to ensure you get a spot. Fill out your application beforehand, and have your supporting documents ready. It's not that bad! read more

I am checking my access to Yelp. This will be a report on my experience with the post office in Milpitas. Absolutely the worst service, requirements, and practices of any establishment I have ever dealt with in my entire life. Sounds hard to believe but its been going on for years and it seems nothing can be done about it. The postmaster seems to rule situation no matter who supposedly oversees him, even when he lies, changes his mind, has your mail damaged, lost, returned to sender at every possible chance he has, says it makes more money for the post office, makes you pay hundreds of dollars a year for a PO Box, requires you visit the post office everyday across town to attempt to get your mail or send out mail, during commute traffic, during Covid, reduces office hours to gain access to your mail, packages are held with even limited hours and days later than being shipped to my home with the original shipper. He also forbids me of receiving any mail to my residential home address that I have paid a lot of money for, lived here for 30 years, yet delivers to my neighbors on each side and across the street that the postman walks by my mailbox everyday that I have to move to curbside in the middle of 2 driveways 3 years ago, have had creditors cancel my credit cards because they could not locate me, have driven my vehicles unregistered because I don't get the renewals, paid 100s of dollars in late fees not getting my bills, limit to what I can buy online because of my PO box address, told me to get rid of my family dog that was not the original issue. Told me I cant own a dog, Said a fence would not change the situation. And I haven't even brought up all the pictures and proof of intentional wrong doings that no one at USPS wants to look at or take action on. I have only scratched the surface of the problems this continues everyday for me. I feel the the postmaster Gupreet Randall has done, and continues to do, to make it as difficult as possible with me getting my mail. I am surprised I haven't snapped yet. I feel they don't give a f_ _k about the situation because he doesn't have to. I would really like to write my emotions on this but it would NEVER make to view on Yelp. Forgot to mention, UPS, Fed Ex, Amazon and any other shipper has no problem delivering to my door. I'll just paraphrase my review of the San Jose branch that compares it to this branch. If you can, go to the one on Abel in Milpitas, they're nice and helpful. At this branch: 1. They're nice and helpful. 2. THE SAN JOSE BRANCH told me I could not use paper tape to pack my package and threw their plastic tape on the counter. So I just stand there not knowing that she wants ME to tape it myself. 3. When i went to THE MILPITAS BRANCH today to mail a package, I purposely didn't tape it so that they could use their special tape but the milpitas lady says, paper tape is fine and couldn't understand why i was yelled at for using paper tape. not only that, she said we have free boxes you can use for shipping packages by priority mail. the people at san jose of course coulnd't care less. So the Milpitas branch has nice, helpful workers who point out things to save you money and don't yell you because you used paper tape. I would seriously never consider reviewing a post office until today. The people that work here are amazingly efficient and the lines here are just as long as a lot of other post offices, but they move SOOOOO much faster. I didn't even have time to finish writing the address on the box, whereas most other post offices would have allotted me the time to write everyone's address on their boxes plus a dissertation or two. The workers are friendly, and hardly seem the type that you would expect to see in a post office! I just got out of my dentist's office after getting a temporary crown, and needed to get some additional postage for my Christmas cards. I pulled into the lot, and walked-in. It's your typical post office, but for some reason it seems that the quality of the people that come to this particular location is best summarized as quality. - man yelling with his bluetooth in his ear - man asking employee at the passport desk if a prepaid postage (YES! prepaid postage) envelope needed more postage - man looking for a smaller box to fit his already enveloped package It was just a strange, strange place, kinda like Bizarro world or something. Parking lot is a little hellish to get out of. I recommend parking further back into the parking lot than closer to the light; otherwise, it'll be a bitch to get out of there. Also, when exiting the building, make sure you go out the door you came out of. There's a door that goes out into a fenced-in "courtyard" area which is a little weird and does not have an exit. read more

I needed to apply for new passports for my sons so I did a search on travel.state.gov and found this certified place which took photos on site as well. After reading most negative reviews on yelp, I was hesitant to go to this place but since the urgency of getting the passports quickly arose and the place was very close to my house, I decided to bite the bullet. The experience turned out to be nothing close to what the scathing reviews conveyed. Apparently, I'm writing about my experience with the passport service so please keep that in mind. We arrived at the open-hour mark and there were two lines: one for mail/packages and one for passport-related service. There were only a few people in the mail/package line and it was moving rather quickly. The passport line was longer and moving quite slowly, which was understandable since the clerk had to follow all procedures and check for correctness of filled-out forms. It is advisable that you fill out the forms before to save time. I did not as my printer wasn't working, so I had to fill out the forms on the spot. After about 30 min, we were called to the counter and a lady took care of our applications. I raised concerns about a photo of one of my sons had some shadow around his ears and this lady offered to re-take the photos to ease my worries. Another advice is that you should take photos somewhere else, preferably at home and print 'em out at walsgreens/costco etc. you will save a few dollars. At this facility, they charge $15/person (2 2x2 photos). From the time we arrived in the parking lot to the time we drove away, it took 50 minutes. I requested extradite service and it took exactly 12 days including 2 weekends for the passports to arrive in my mail box. In general, I'm satisfied with their customer service and quality of work. read more

Huh. My visit today was actually pretty good. I was dreading visiting the post office today to pick up something for my S.O. I knew that the place would be really busy at 2:30, and I started cringing when I was making the left turn from Abel into the parking lot. Why? Because everything in the lot was backed up, which was NOT a good sign. Wow, the parking lot is insane! For an establishment that processes many quick transactions with frequent arrivals and departures (yeah, I know it's not an airport....), the parking lot is not set up for that type of traffic. That said, I was able to turn into the lot on the 2nd light cycle, I found a spot, and walked in to discover a rather long line. Not really surprised. And this is where the magic happened: Just as I was gearing up for a long wait, an employee came over to me in line, and asked if I was picking up a package. Why, yes. Yes I was. He said I should follow him, and he took me out of line (there were about 10 people ahead of me), and got the package for me immediately. No wait! Now THAT is good customer service. I would give them 5 stars for that move alone, but the parking lot is scary. Tip: Try riding your bike, walking, or invest in a hover craft so that you don't have to deal with parking in the lot. read more

This place amazes me every time I'm here. Most of the times when I come here, there are about 6-8 people in front of me but the wait time is usually less than 10 minutes. The speed is quick, even during lunch times. They have almost every clerk on the counter and they're always accommodating to fit your postal needs.
