I had a mail hold and edited it. My package was never delivered. When I called the post office, the woman who answered was not only very helpful, but funny and accommodating. She found my package and offered to deliver it whenever was convenient. I've used this post office for over 30 years, and whenever I have had an issue (usually with mail holds), it's been addressed and rectified quickly. I've lived in other places in Florida (Jacksonville), and the mail service and help when I've called is HORRIBLE. I've had packages misdelivered to Puerto Rico and and a number of packages never delivered at all. And I've only lived here a few years. I live a block from this Post Office, but after 20 years, I will no longer use it. It's always been slow, the staff is ok?, somewhat clean(could use improvement in that area), but in the last 6 months, they've managed to "lose" 3 pieces of mail. The envelopes eventually turned up at their destination...but at least 2-3 weeks later and were mangled/stomped on. Oh, and one of those only had to go from the outside drop off into a PO Box in that Post Office! I work close to Olney and utilize that Post Office instead....the staff is much friendlier and they're quite efficient even when they're busy. read more

I'm not sure if this is the WORST post office in the nation but it's got to be among the worst five!! Mean window clerks who have no idea what they're doing is only the start. There is always a long line - always. And face to face communication with the window staff is almost impossible because they are not able to effectively communicate at all. She said that I would have to go through the whole process of making a label for international shipping and pay for it again. How does that make any sense? It's a post office. A post office. You will get bad service no matter where you will go. There will be long lines no matter where you go. However, I have to say that this place is A-OK because I have not had major issues after several years of shipping goods overseas and I have shipped really sensitive documents from this location and I have been able to conduct business regularly here. It is not the best of all of the branches as this place is quite old and the parking situation is an accident waiting to happen, but it does get the job done. They do dedicate one person from time to time to handle some people who do not need to wait in line. Sometimes I think that this is not necessary as we need more people are the registers, but at the same time, I do see people walk out of line and get help. It is a double edge sword, but what can you do. I do remember I have to pick up packages here when the delivery person did not knock my door when I was at home the previous day. Not the best of situations, but I can only blame the delivery person at that point and it only happened once several years ago. There was one time in Connecticut where my package was legitimately stolen/lost and I couldn't do anything about it as it was not recorded anywhere and it said it was delivered. Constant incorrectly delivered mail, both first class mail AND Priority Mail. This has been happening for the past year and a half or two years since our long time carrier retired & even tho I've called repeatedly to complain, no improvement. They've delivered my Priority Mail to God only knows where, & I've had to get replacements from the companies I've ordered from because wherever they delivered the first ones to, the people decided to open them & keep my packages. I've had many packages delivered to my house that were addressed to other people at other addresses, which I took to the people they belonged to - I'm not a thief. And I'm constantly delivering mail to & receiving my mail from a lady on the next street who has the same street numbers, but different street name, as well as redelivering mail all over the neighborhood that was put in my mailbox but belongs to other people. read more

I went in to send a letter, and I was confronted by the Post Master herself, Ms Lee, screaming at me that the postage would be very expensive for my letter. I said I didn't care, but she kept screaming at me that it was going to be expensive. Again, I said that I didn't care and that I could afford it. She was implying that I couldn't afford it, but I kept telling her that I didn't care how much it cost. She didn't stop screaming at me, so I went to the other teller who helped me professionally and politely. Ms Lee needs anger management or retirement. Terrible and rude postal employee. read more

My mom and I have been here a zillion times because we run an e-commerce business. The people at the counters are very knowledgeable and always so nice to everyone even though i know customers yell at them for issues that's not their fault. Usually a USPS system error or human error within back operations. We normally do regular mail drops daily but have also done passport pictures, sent registered mail overseas, bought stamps, etc. Been to several other post offices around the area and these people are the kindest. They are beyond incompetent. They NEVER RETURN PHONE CALLS. I have never been so unhappy with a customer service experience in my life. After calling for the manager over 6 times IN ONE DAY, I received no calls and every call came with the same answer. " Mr. Waddy is in a meeting" "Mr. Waddy stepped out" "Mr. Waddy is on a call". This is the worst post office I've ever been to , they lost my pack said they delivered it I never received it I talk to supervisor she said she would call me after she talked to the person who delivered my package never received a call I filed a claim never heard a thing. My mail doesn't get her until 6:30 or 7:00pm then they said they couldn't get in my building and they never tried. I really hate this post office it's the WORST!!!! Again one year later this post office has lost another package of mine, and they don't give hoop, last year (2018), they said they delivered a package and didn't, again this year they said they delivered my package I never received it I'm so damn fed up with this post office and the same damn lady telling me to put in a claim. Two years in a row they lied about delivering my package for my grandkids, and I'm having to reorder again and hoping to receive it. This post office is in the back corner of the Montgomery Village strip mall. There is a driveway where you can drop off mail without getting out of your car, but the signage isn't very clear until you get to it...only to find out that you're going the wrong way and now you need to back up, turn around, and go the other way to do it. Inside the post office, it's well organized, a little dark (which is weird, since it has a ton of windows), and always busy. However, despite how busy it is, the line moves fast and the workers here are polite and efficent (but not overly friendly). read more

I just called and spoke with a spanish lady who gave me a number that does not even work. I hate calling there because it takes hours to get through to customer service. Without a fail this is the WORST post office I have ever had get service from. Today to the person delivering our mail at the GROUP boxes has now LEFT all of Our Mailboxes OPEN and unlocked. I have tried to call, but of course the LINE IS BUSY. No one ever answers that phone, I believe they take it off and leave the phone off. I faxed to them and that hasn't gotten their attention either. When on a rare occasion that I must got to this post office the people are SLOW and seem truly NOT to care about the job they are to be doing. Over the last 28 years I have had multiple complaints, including getting other peoples mail, other people getting my mail, mail that arrives torn so badly that the object inside usually a check can NOT be deposited. A gentleman from the USPS Suburban sorting facility informed me that my package had been scanned at this post office in Montgomery Village. When I called the office, the workers had awful phone etiquette, spoke relatively poor English and claimed that the package had never been through their office. So my package is lost and according to the USPS Suburban facility the trail goes cold at this location in Montgomery Village. read more

Always a long slow line. I try to adoid but always seem to end up back here. Its a combination of slow workers combined with a local population who uses English as their 2nd language and sending package out of the area that take more time to process. This place sucks. I've been waiting on a package that said was delivered 6 days ago. I've been calling the office and they can't give me an answer on what actually happen to the package. The people there are so damn rude and they can't give you a correct answer. Waited on the phone for 30 minutes for the guy to tell me that I have to file a claim after 21 days to see "if I get my money back" really irritated with this post office. Horrible delivery service. Turns out, they allow the employees to not be honest about delivery and tracking. Order something internationally with shipping, they don't even scan it. You won't even know when it's there. Also, they allow the workers to update the status ahead of what is actually going on. Out for delivery means that sorting is complete. Delivered means it is out for delivery. Actual delivery will be hours after that. One mail worker also tried to steal mail. I had a package come and it was marked delivered. After checking and noticing no package, I filed a complaint and a claim. At 7pm, two hours after my post office closed, my package mysteriously appeared in my mailbox. If you live in the 20886 area, avoid this cesspit. Please, get a PO Box at the UPS Store and have things sent there. Avoid dealing with this post office. read more

Had a package delivered from San Franciso to MD with 2 day shipping. Package was in MD in exactly 2 days however the post office in Mont Vlg some how lost the package. Needless to say my package has been lost for 3 days in Mont Vlg post office and every time I call I get "it should be delivered today". Once I called and the supervisor hung up on me. The carrier in this area doesn't deliver the mail unil very late in the evening sometimes in the dark so when you realize your package hasnt arrived their post office is already closed for the day. UPDATE: Finally received a package but it was for my neighbor meanwhile I'm still waiting for my package. i havent gotten my mail till some time after 7pm or 8pm this week what is wrong with deliveries.

Every time I mail something from this post office ( by the drop box outside or even going inside to pay) the mail gets lost or the envelope gets there but not the contents. NEVER use this post office. Even to buy stamps the line is ridiculously long and they only ever have one or two people helping customers. Although there are more workers up front, they are busy doing other things and don't feel it's necessary to help cut the line down. read more

I wish I can give this post office I've ordered something and it says that it was delivered June 28th it was delivered to the wrong building I have a sign on my door stating please do not leave package if no one is home I will pick up from the post office I made three claims two of them was denied I was asked to send in a paper form claim because it will be done quicker that was in July it is now September and now I receive a check for $56 and some change when the item that I bought was $147 and some change I was basically told I have to take that $91 and change as a loss because insurance only covered $56 that is some b******* The only positive experience I had at that post office is the manager (Mr. EW) he is very patient and kind and willing to work with you this is the second time a package of mines has either been stolen or delivered to the wrong place he usually helps me with the situation and hopefully he can again when I go in there Monday but I'm not taking another loss read more

I love that the postal service is trying to save the company by adding this smart feature to customer service so it can help out the long lines. I love the post office again. This is the closest Post Office to our house, and I feel like I am in here relatively frequently. I don't think I have ever walked in here and not have to wait--it is always insane! I almost wish I could rate the people using the Post Office, rather than the Post Office itself. They always have multiple windows open, and of course the PO workers are efficient and quick, but everyone who walks up acts as if they have never been involved in a postal transaction in their lives! They do their best to help everyone as quickly as possible, but they could use some more signage. Like I said, I haven't really been to many other Post Offices, so maybe I'm easily impressed, but this one has a separate area that seems to be open 24-hours. It is where the PO boxes are, but they also have a postage machine for stamps and even boxes and stuff. The little things in life make me happy. Also, they do Passport Applications here. read more

I have never had such a bad experience with USPS as I did this morning at Montgomery Village location. I have been experiencing mail delivery issues since year-and-a-half and have spoken with several managers at this location and at Shady Grove. They were unable to resolve. So I come back today to check to see if there is a resolution. Waited 45 minutes for the supervisor who was apparently on the phone on a long-distance call. Then I was told that the supervisor left the building and is unavailable. I left the post office with issue unresolved. Not exactly sure what to do next. I'm not receiving my bills and other correspondence that are time sensitive. read more

Montgomery Village Post Office is my favorite post office! Despite what most Yelpers have said, this is a very efficient and helpful place. I have gone here at many different times and all months of the year. Today I called to find out if my lost keys were there. I will admit to frustration trying to call directly and have someone answer the phone. Once accomplished, Eric was most helpful and professional. Im not sure who hired the people who work here. They were probably president of the incompetent club at some point. They dont know how to talk to customers, keep misplacing packages and its a challenge to get hold of anyone via the phone. They make you wait to drop off prepaid domestic parcels. I did not need a receipt, just a simple drop. But there is No parcel drop or bin. When asking politely if I could drop them at the side on the counter, something I do at other locations I was told to wait in line because they must be scanned. The person she was seeing was currently covering text on her package with priority mail tape, in other words she was not ready. The attendant then made a deal of telling me when it was my turn that it was now ok to come to the counter with a look. This is NOT an issue at other local locations. Very unfortunate. read more

The staff here is very friendly, very nice. I had a very sweet war vet help me out. Unfortunately, my package was lost too. I used two day shipping and it's been 5 days, still no sign of it. I think I'll just make the trip elsewhere next time. read more
