Today, we needed to return books as my daughter is home from college (for the holidays) and the semester is over. Nobody buys books any more they rent them from Chegg or a similar place. When the classes are over , you return the books thru a shipping place. Today , we go to USPS and the the woman had no smile, no hello, nothing. She says Returns? Oh we cant take that. (She sees that our box of books wasnt taped shut as I was out of packaging tape) Points to the corner and says disgustedly " You have to buy the tape over there". And looks at us blankly. Which meant we had to get out of line and get the tape and get back into the 20 deep line of people. My daughter mumbled something like Screw her, what a bit*%! , grabbed the books and left. She does not have patience for rudeness. I just shook my head and left. Would have liked to negotiate but probably best , that we left. I get it. Its a busy day around the holidays. But you pretty much have a guaranteed job, would it kill you to show some kindness? I have some friends in the USPS , and while they stay busy, and are under time pressure, they are treated decent, make good pay ,and have excellent benefits and its not the worst job anybody ever had. Annndddd its a govt job. My point is, no one as a customer, plans to come in unprepared. But you know what, it happens. So as a govt employee , try a little kindness once in a while. Kindness kills.....

Also had an issue where they wouldn't accept a prioroty mail USPS box as it was "folded improperly". So they made me put it in a new box with new label, but then wouldn't attach the label and wanted me to buy tape. Have been using UPS and FedEx since. Always amusing when one agent doesn't know how to do something in the computer system. The supervisor clearly knows but won't teach them and just disappears, leaving the lines to get longer and the other agent to finally give up and say they can't do it.

Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by a postal employee at the entrance. He asked me what I needed, which was sending a letter via registered mail. He showed me which forms I needed to fill out, and then directed me to a customer service attendant. The attendant who helped me, as well as the rest of the employees here were all in great spirits and very prompt and courteous. It looks like I landed a winner here. They offer all the normal post office services, which included PO boxes. packing materials, do-it-yourself stamp machines, and a small assortment of greeting cards and gift wraps.

It's great not to have to trudge to another town's post office just to wait in some horrific line and be served by people who clearly need a break. Every time I've gone to this location to ship packages, the staff's been cordial or even downright friendly (you don't really ever expect the USPS staff to be friendly, do you?) and helpful. There's never a line (although I admit I've never come here during the holiday rush - I mean, I'm not crazy or anything) and you can always park near the door. And as someone who lives in Warrenville, well, this location couldn't possibly be more convenient for me.

Well shocker, my envelope never arrived at its destination. The last scan is still in Aurora at this post office. I was informed the post office will only cover up to $15 for each gift card even though they sell them at a predetermined amount. This type of action seems to cultivate thieves. Never will I go to this post office again since they are thieves behind the counter and their customer service seems to be fraudulent. So if you go to this post office, make sure you do not purchase a gift card and do not let Emima help you. She will steal your package. I have added a photo of her name in case I am incorrect.
