I have mailed four certified letters from this post office within the past six weeks and all have either been lost or it has taken several weeks to get to their destination (all within the chicago suburbs). I have called trying to get tracking, have personally visited the post office trying to get help and have received no help at all. I have never had such a bad experience with post office..... Absolutely horrible experiences. I am sure nothing will be done as based on these reviews no one at this post office cares about service. Everytime I come to the Plainfield location, there's always long lines and only one person working. On one occasion I turned around, left, and went to another location. The same person is always working when I come to this location. And if there is more than one person working, they're not at the desk taking care of customers. More people need to be hired in order to help the lady that's always at the front desk. There shouldn't be only one person taking care of customers. read more

My issue was resolved, and I couldn't be happier with the Plainfield post office customer service. 03/25/24 .I use the shipping service often it's very useful and important for my small business. Overall my experience is good anytime I go here. Unfortunately there has been a few times I am serviced by someone there that has a nasty attitude and does not have an ounce of customer service. At least fake it. Never greets people, has an attitude if you ask her anything, and has a mean scowl on her face. I have never seen her smile. She's light skinned and has medium red hair. It was at around 10:30 today when I checked out. Either it's time to get a new job or she needs to be retrained on customer service. After todays incident, I feel like giving zero stars. But up till now , it usually had been 4 & 5 star encounters. Today, we needed to return books as my daughter is home from college (for the holidays) and the semester is over. Nobody buys books any more they rent them from Chegg or a similar place. When the classes are over , you return the books thru a shipping place. Today , we go to USPS and the the woman had no smile, no hello, nothing. She says Returns? Oh we cant take that. (She sees that our box of books wasnt taped shut as I was out of packaging tape) Points to the corner and says disgustedly " You have to buy the tape over there". And looks at us blankly. Which meant we had to get out of line and get the tape and get back into the 20 deep line of people. My daughter mumbled something like Screw her, what a bit*%! , grabbed the books and left. She does not have patience for rudeness. I just shook my head and left. Would have liked to negotiate but probably best , that we left. I get it. Its a busy day around the holidays. But you pretty much have a guaranteed job, would it kill you to show some kindness? I have some friends in the USPS , and while they stay busy, and are under time pressure, they are treated decent, make good pay ,and have excellent benefits and its not the worst job anybody ever had. I have not received mail in 5 days. I know that all my neighbors have received mail. Also, I confirmed that 2 other households on my block got grocery ads yesterday, and I got nothing. I was told that sometimes the printing isn't legible on the grocery ads, so then they can't deliver them. A couple years ago, when I asked why I hadn't received grocery ads in over a month, I was told that the company that provides them with the ads didn't supply enough. Well, which is it? Also, I was expecting a replacement credit card for a card that was stolen and new license plates and they both should have arrived already. For a long time, we didn't have a regular carrier, but apparently we have had one for a long time now. In the next breath, I was told we have a substitute carrier right now. This is why the USPS is a joke! Someone needs to privatize mail even if it involves a rate increase! That might even cut down on bulk junk mail!! read more

I visited on 12/20/16 as I needed stamps for mailing Christmas cards. The parking lot was full so I was ready for a line but luckily and surprisingly they had three windows open and several of the customers were not in line so I waited maybe 5 minutes. The clerk was interesting- she was trying to be nice but kinda came off as insincere- however she did wish me a Merry Christmas so that was a nice gesture. I bought two stamp books $9.40 each which include 20 stamps each and a stamp to mail a card to Canada which was $1.15. read more

The must hire the dumbest people EVER!! I mean dropping packages off at the wrong home! That's the first test a mail carrier should pass. The job is paying more than 50K and you cannot deliver mail. Customer service has greatly improved here, and even when the line is 10 persons deep I can still get taken care of with a few minute wait at most. I recently opened an Etsy store and now visit the post office 2-3 times a week and am fine with the wait, it is no longer than a grocery store. If you are coming without a box or packing material, you will be pressed to find anything in the post office - so don't waste your (and other prepared customers) time. I walked in around closing time on a Thursday and was surprised to find only a couple people in line. This office was short on supplies (especially boxes of any kind) but the cheery woman at the front and the service she gave more than made up for the lack in selection! I'm pretty sure she was the kindest postal worker I've ever encountered. I was in and out in no time and left in a better mood than I came in. Sometimes the Joliet office scares me and sometimes I need a change of scenery. Living between the Joliet post office and this one I can take my pick so I chose here for my most recent USPS adventure. Line was kind of long, with two employees handling it and both self service spots were being used so i got in line. At some point more employees emerged and started helping with the line. A guy came out and asked if anyone was paying with a card- he took the person who raised their hand to one of the self service kiosks that had opened up and helped them out on there. After this it moved fairly quickly. In "toddler time" my kid has just stopped standing nicely next to me and began crawling between my legs by the time it was my turn. The staff member who took care of me was fast and friendly. He actually had a conversation with the people at his window (as did the other employees) versus the Joliet location where they mostly just stare at you. Overall took under 15 minutes. read more

I've never been to this location and not stood in line for upwards of 10 minutes, lemme just put that right out there. I stopped in today to drop a few things in the mail slot and as expected there was a line--thankfully I didn't have to stand in it. So, after countless visits to this location I've deduced that no one likes being here. No one smiles, in fact their lips tend to frown even more than the curvature of just the standard lip. I tried to be optimistic as I held the door for a gentleman walking in with a stack of boxes, but he stared at me with death in his eyes as he single handedly opened another door. What? Ok. I get it. Honestly maybe those that walk-in thinking it's going to be easy breezie in an out are clearly wrong because nothing really is easy in life, however the service at this post office and other post offices are extraordinary, seeing that you go in there with a good attitude. Go in any place expecting that someone is going to help you and someone is going to help you!! You go in with a bad attitude...you're going to get some attitude back!!! Duh. No one wants to help out someone who is throwing a tantrum, so plain and simple go in there saying "yes!!! I called to find out why my mail was not being delivered. I was informed that if the carrier cannot deliver mail due to snow they won't do it. I tried to inquire if they would be trying again as the mailbox had been dug out, but before I could finish she said yup and hung up. Back in December of 2015 I was thrilled to see that they installed two self service stations that you can use to mail out parcels. It was easy to figure out, and a smile-less computer screen was friendlier than most of the people who work there. The machines have instruction videos on the screen that were easy to follow, except for the at the end where the instructions tell you to deposit the parcel into a bin - but there is no bin that matches the one in the video anywhere in the post office. After paying for my postage and putting the sticker on the box, I slowly approached the counter while looking around to see if I had missed the bin. There was (by some grace of God) no line, and a single clerk working at the counter. I asked her where I could put the box and she literally shook her head at me, suggesting that I was not supposed to ask. It stunned me a bit, and I have no doubt I had a shocked look on my face, so I just put the box on the counter on the other end and said something like "I have no idea where to drop this because the video says there's supposed to be a bin, but there isn't." She looked at me without saying anything, and I left. Thanks for the service, soulless computer. You too, soulless clerk. read more

If there was a possibilty for negative stars, this place would get them in spades. Rude employees, possibly illiterate mail carriers and always a convenient excuse to not do their jobs. I received horrible customer service on the phone in regards to less than stellar mail delivery and threats that i would be arrested if i came in to address the issues face to face. I won't even go into detail about the time they sent a package I mailed to the UK through Canada. Inept, rude and the worst post office to deal with. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS POST OFFICE! It is just as horrible as the review history states at 1.5 stars. If there were a 0 star option I would have selected that. To begin, I walked into the Post Office with intentions of shipping a auto part to New Jersey. I began looking at the packaging station for priority mail and flat rate shipping. The prices seemed fair, yet the employees FAILED TO STOCK ANY BOXES! So I had no option to use this service. I watched numerous people do the exact same thing during my visit. So while customers are scratching their heads looking for a product that the post office should stock, the 3 employees just sat behind the counter and watched as people were wondering what to do. So then I locate a box on the back wall that should work. Next I get in line to receive help from an employee and the employee tells me that I need to fill out the information on the box then get back in line! What blows my mind is that I have to get in a line to receive any help from your employees just to be turned away and then get back in the same line once I figure everything out on my own? Where is the floor staff? Where is the help so that your customers don't do things 3 times over? These employees are here just collecting a pay check. They don't care about their customers. And if they did, they would have helped when they seen the confusion on over 10 customers faces. At this rate the Post Office would be better off setting up internal drop boxes with stands for self service because NONE OF THESE EMPLOYEES WILL HELP YOU. We have just moved to Plainfield a couple months ago. I don't usually give negative reviews but this has really got out of hand. When we moved into our new house in November, we figured we would probably have problems with the new address and forwarding mail, which is not a big deal. Since we have been here, the delivery is inconsistent, our mail and packages have been going to our neighbor's houses(thank goodness they are nice enough to bring it to us!) and the mail carrier does not pick up out-going mail a lot of the time. I complained to them on their website and even called. Today i find out that a very important time-sensitive document we entrusted our mail carrier to mail, 2 weeks ago, was never delivered to the recipient! This cost me a late fee. I now uploaded the informed mail app and will be faxing/emailing anything on my own that is important, because i can't trust plainfield's Usps. Update 2/02/2019- we had a couple days of no mail because of the snow. This is understandable for the safety of the workers. Today it is 45 degrees and 7pm...no mail delivery. I downloaded the Informed Mail App, and I see that i have 5 items waiting. 1 extremely important piece of mail!! I don't understand how our mail delivery can be so bad! Horrendous customer service, rude, incompetent. They deliver your mail/packages late, (thats if it doesnt get lost, which happens frequently) in other neighbors boxes, then you have no one competent to take your complaint, absolutely outrageously bad service, unreal! Can you please hire people that can read addresses and that know how to talk on the phone without a bad attitude?????is that even possible? Edit 8/16, they lost another package of mine again! had to put in for refund, that took MONTHS to get resolved, literally tons of phone calls and visits to this place to get resolved. Make sure if you are sending anything from this post office that you get tracking and insurance! Just pay the extra cost. Also, high turnover of mail carriers from this branch, they put other peoples mail into my box and vice versa CONSTANTLY, so if you are expecting something important, tell the sender to get tracking and cross your fingers that it doesnt end up in someone else's hands! read more

Please let me update. It is now 8:13pm and we just got our mail. It is absolutely ridiculous and uncalled for!! In all my years, I have never heard of mail delivery this late. I understand it is Christmas and there is more volume, but I have lived in Plainfield for 18 years and have never had our delivery this late even during bad weather. I called to complain and spoke with a supervisor and it was a complete waste of my time. I didn't even get an apology. I was told there are other people getting it even later. Nice. Ordered a package from amazon and it said it was delivered but I never received it. I checked the tracking and that also said it was delivered so I called, and the first time I spoke to someone he told me that it was delivered to the wrong address. he also said that they would retrieve the package and deliver it to the proper address and call me and notify me when it was delivered. without getting any of my information other than the tracking number again he hung up on me. I called a few days later and they put me on the phone with a supervisor and then she told me she was going to put me on hold for just a minute. 30 minutes later I am still on hold, and my package is no where to be found. read more

I live in Carillon, a senior adult community, with rural ( mailbox at the curb) delivery. Many of our residents have to cross the street to get their mail. Our delivery is now after dark. Seniors crossing the street for their mail don't wear reflective clothing and seniors driving at night are a bad combination. "an accident waiting to happen" called the post office today...Lisa answered...asked for the postmaster...not available...explained the situation and my concern...her reply...that is the way it is ...we lost an hour of daylight and are swamped...you should see our loading dock...it will get worse as we get into the holiday season...nothing can or will be done...I don't know if there is a way to help us out / provide better service but Lisa just did not care period. I am very upset there is a girl working as a mailman who has no high school diploma... her name is Tammy Moyles, but she goes by the name Tammy Borgesi, as an employee with the post office. She has no HighSchool Diploma, How did she get hired without one??? there are billion's of people who cannot get a job there that have a Diploma. If she showed one, it's a (fraud) because she Doesn't have one !!!!!!! she used the last name as Borgesi to pretend that they are her family, so she could get PULL to be hired.], when in fact they are NOT her family!!! I think they should look into this situation because it is the law to be-able to be imployed by them. She was tranferred to the NJ post office. First off we are getting our mail after SEVEN PM! That is a completely unacceptable time. In the same neighborhood (literally still the streams of Plainfield) their carrier comes at 1. Second I went to go and pick up my held mail. The rude man asked me why I was holding my mail....well @sshat its my god d@mn mail and I can hold it for whatever reason I want to. And lastly it would be nice to actually get MY mail and not the neighbors (not even close neighbors sometimes). Worst post office! I receive other people's mail so I'm pretty sure other people receive my mail. I tracked a package from Amazon that was supposed to be delivered today it said "an attempt was made to deliver your package" there was no note on my door or in my mailbox. I called Amazon, they called the post office who just said they didn't know why it wasn't delivered!
