Cannot believe I'm actually rating a usps office. This office so far is the most efficient of all I've dealt with. Sad, I know. But it actually gets job done. Usually I just pack all my items and throw them into the self service bin on the wall. Sometimes I need to pay at the window and it's usually before my work which is around 8:40 am. Not as crowded as rush hour. Staffs hang around helping people and try to speed up the process. I don't have much complaints about this location. If you have any complaints, try usps journal square. LOL that place is HELL. read more

Super slow. Would've been one star except a gentleman worker did go around asking the ppl on line if he could be of assistance. Unfortunately I needed a receipt for my pre-paid packages and had to wait in line. Stopped by at around 6:30 pm on a weekday as I was not going to make it to my usual post office in time. Three tellers opened however they took a minimum of 20 mins per customer and at one point no teller was working at all. What's the use of staying open until 8 pm if no one is working? Line grew to about 15 ppl when I was on the way out. All the sirens and alarm went off at one point with no announcement or guidance by the workers on what to do. I had two packages and my teller actually scanned the first package with the weight of both packages (left the boxes stacked on the scale). It didn't affect me as my label was a pre-paid label up to five lbs but for those of you paying at the window by weight beware. read more

If I could leave less than a star, I would. Terrible customer service and horrible attitude by the teller I had. Would NOT recommend coming to this post office, go elsewhere even if it is inconvenient. You'll be happy your day wasn't ruined. read more

Back again and the service here continues to be amazing. Penny helped me this time with a complex issue and was so patient and helpful. Also watching the entire staff help with other customers was great. Also the floor manager dealt with customers with issues very well. Thank you guys! You all really are amazing! read more

I'm currently on line and the supervisor has been called to "help" a customer. So far she has disrespected the lady several times and told her not to touch government property or the customer will go to jail. Please note the item in question is a self-service machine. This supervisor is a disgrace and shouldn't be in charge of anyone or anything. read more

Years from now when the USPS Titanic sinks under its own inefficiency and poor service, historians will study 90 Church Street USPS as the quintessential example of how not to treat customers or run a business. True, 8am to 8pm hours are convenient but the 30:2 customer to teller ratio is unbearable and down right abusive. The fact that the other ten windows remain permanently closed makes you wonder how good people must have had it during a different era, or better yet if the ten windows had ever been open all at once in the history of the building, or if perhaps they were just meant for decoration. If these closed windows could speak, they would laugh at you for waiting. If management feels like being sympathetic and there happens to be a full moon over Wichita, Kansas they just might open a third window temporarily. I will admit that if they like you they will strike up a conversation and give you all the attention you deserve as the herd waiting in line melts with impatience and writhes in misery. I have known to come in at 8:20 am to mail a box and still be in line at 9:02 am and thus be late to work. Recently, I waited forty minutes to be told that I can't tape a box with duct tape and that I'm lucky that they will not make me tape it over. That was my reward for not dying of natural causes while in line. The day before Christmas I overheard a customer ask what is the difference between Priority Tape and the regular tape and the answer was, "one says priority and the other is regular." This post office does have the automatic mailing machines but these do not help when you ship media, international, or any rate that can't be sent this way. P.S. the service is really bad. first of all they didnt drop my stuff at my address they look at the place which is close, didnt even think the business is closed down whoelse is gonna order stuff and delivery there ( common sense on human).. second of all i went to post office to get my stuff but there is very few ppl to take care of and still dont get my stuff like a week..... read more

The closer the USPS comes to bankruptcy, the better their service seems to get! I came here close to closing, and both the guard and the postal worker I spoke to were so friendly and helpful I wished I lived nearby so I could go there personally once a week. Then I'd admire the stunning art deco architecture and design, the marble columns and lamps with the gorgeous metal cutouts. I was so focused on oogling Iwas worried after a while that the guard would think I was casing the place. Like many branches, it does have the convenient automated postal center for you to get your stamps, mail out parcels etc. Because I went later in the evening, many of the windows were shuttered. One long line for services frightened me off from waiting,though if I had to, I'd spend the wait time admiring the décor. This truly is a pretty building and worth a visit for anyone interested in architecture. You can buy your stamps at your local branch but come here for a trip back to 1935. The post office also has a poignant reminder of 9/11, a flag that was outside and is now in a glass case. I was told by the postman that they were working on landmark status. I hope that even if USPS closes, that this building remains preserved. read more

Only 1 teller open and I counted 35 people on line. After 35 minutes waiting and still 5 people in front of me I'm never coming back. No wonder they are losing business to fedex or ups. Customer service is NOT their priority. read more

On this rainy Wednesday morning, I walked into this post office at around 9:30 AM. I noticed there wasn't a line in the big hall and I heard talking and laughing behind the counter as I walked by two open service windows toward the head of the line. I forgot about the hanging electronic device that tells you which window to go to and walked to one of the two windows from which I heard talking and laughter. The female clerk said, "Did I call you? Go back!" I walked back to the head of the line. I waited, hearing talking and laughter. The window in front of me vacated. I looked at the female clerk and waited. She begrudgingly said, "Come here." I walked up and saw her name tag "Mrs. Watkins". I handed her my package and then remembered I wanted delivery confirmation. I went back to the table to get it, and then handed to her. She said, "you must fill it out.' I said, "I never had to do it before." She said, "You have to do it here." I asked why and she asked me to read the form. When I read to "Article Sent To: (to be completed by mailer), she said, "You need to fill it out." This part means it is to be filled out by sender not recipient, but it doesn't say it must be filled out or US Post Office can refuse service. I then said, "I don't want delivery confirmation anymore." I paid and she finished this transaction. I said, "Thank you!" She said, "What do you thank me for?" I said, "For doing your job." She said, "Shut up and get out!' I said, "May I speak to a supervisor?" She said, "No!" Then she turned around and spoke to other clerks, "See, this is the one that walked up to your window...." She proceeded to tell me how I said that I never had to fill out the delivery confirmation before, etc, while I was at the window. I asked to speak to the supervisor again. She said, "No! Now I need to go to the bathroom." She closed the window. read more

if i can help it, i will never EVER come here again. a shame because the building is beautiful. tried to send something to an APO. could not get proper help (preposterous because there are twenty-some-odd windows). usps usually has a person triaging lines and NOTHING. for 20 minutes i was trying to figure out how the hell to proceed, searching every nook and cranny for the correct box size. got frustrated, waited for a window to ask where to get more boxes. asked advice on whether to send flat rate or weighed. was directed to machines. went through machines, was told by the evil box that i need a service agent's help since i'm sending to an APO. came back, waited in line for an agent (AGAIN). finally got to a teller, and again (i knew i had fill out customs forms) and so i wanted help filling it out because i don't remember how to put in the address exactly. he tells me to go away and fill it out and come back. insert expletives here. if i didn't HAVE to send it out today, i would've given him a piece of my mind, loudly enough for people to hear, and left. instead, filled it out went to another window because this guy was also a jerk, finished my transaction, and asked for a manager. oh let me get started on the manager. an asian lady with the biggest attitude i have ever seen. un. believable. i started out by asking her where the person was that directs traffic on the floor? she goes "oh he's over there." and i was like, i've now been here for 35 minutes and no he's not "over there." "oh, then he's busy getting something." i was like "or is he just on lunch? i don't understand. why is there no one on the floor? that is his explicit job." "well i don't know what to tell you, he's supposed to be over there." EXCELLENT managerial skills. let me tell you what happened when i tracked down the floor person. i asked him for a passport renewal form. he goes, "they're right there" pointing to where yes, they were supposed to be, and about half an hour there were probably 3 of them. i decided i would pick it up on my way out. bad call on my part. i told him there's no more. he looked at me like i had three heads. "they're right there!" i said "i checked the piles, there are no more." (there were only new passport applications left, i knew that for a fact.) i'm sorry, but after waiting for someone for more than 35 minutes, i really don't appreciate someone acting like I have the problem and that I'M illiterate. i know where they were, and i know that they're gone. yeesh. he should be fired, and the manager should be fired. pronto. read more

I was skeptical at first with this post office but after ALL my friends recommended this post office, I just HAD to go and see for myself. The wait time was AMAZING. Never thought i would wait 45 minutes to send a letter. Thank goodness I listened to my friends! 5/5 stars!!! Would definitely tell my mom about this place! read more

Giving this place 1 star is far more than it deserves.. you'd think there would be more tellers available at the rush hours.. not only were there only 2 tellers, there was at least a 10 minute window with no tellers at all! read more

I have been to a bunch of post offices in the city, and this one is by far the best. Great hours (8-8 when I was there), and they actually had two "floaters" who were helping people standing in line. Turned out I didn't need to be in line and could use the automated kiosk, saving me ten minutes. The lines can get long since most of the windows aren't staffed, but all the employees have been perfectly pleasant every time I have visited. read more

More like minus minus I signed up for a PO box and was subjected to every petty obstacle that could be thrown up at me, including this clerk, Ms. Thomas is her name I believe, saying that I did not show them my driver's license when I gave it to the clerk three times on three separate occasions. She was very rude to my mom who registered the box and told her I can't have a key or even get mail in my name; then she gave my mom a key that was the wrong one. . I had a box opened for me last year under the same with the box in my mother's name with mine added to it and I had a key and got mail in my name with no problems and pick it up myself. However, this same woman Ms Thomas has sent packages delivered to me back to the sender in California saying that we didn't renew the box even though we got no notice that it needed renewing and paid for the year. Because of this I had to pay $15 to have my packages reshipped. The other time, it took a week from when delivery was confirmed for me to get it as they had to sort through everything I can understand they have a heavy volume of packages. This clerk has given me and my mother a litany of problems and the things she has said to us are absurd and she threw every obstacle in our way to my getting any mail and a lot of important stuff sent to me got lost which created problems in every facet of my life. When I lost my key she wouldn't let me buy a new one saying my mother had to be there and I told her my mom's out of town and meanwhile I needed to get mail what was I supposed to do? She wouldn't even get my mail for me, so I never got it at all. Then she kept telling my mother I need to show her my driver's license when I showed her my ID three times but apparently she made no record of it and kept saying I had to come back there and show it to her. Then the latest thing she told my mom I can't get mail except care of my mother's name; like I'm five years old. This was it: I was furious. There's no reason I should have to get mail sent to me in anybody's name other than my own, and I had never previously had to do this. I have done nothing illegal nor had anything sent to me that is so it's outrageous that this woman is throwing up these kinds of barriers. I know someone who twenty or so years ago worked at this station and he's a good person so all I can say is that it must have gone downhill since then. I have no idea what this woman's problem is or what either of us did to her. This is the treatment my mom and I got AFTER she paid for the box. All I can say is do NOT go here to open a PO box and from the reviews I've read I won't apply for a passport here either. I mean this is insane! Is the worst post office! The lines are always long and there is usually only 1 or 2 people working! Everyone else is always standing around socializing doing nothing or taking very long brakes every 10min or so!! Awful service! I must add though, teller #12 is always working.. read more

On quite a few occasions, the Mail Carrier (not the usual Carrier) for my business location indicated in the USPS system that my package was delivered and "left at front desk reception" when in fact, my there was nothing left! Friday, 2/5/16, was one such occasion. The Carrier indicated the package was left at 5:20pm. Security footage was viewed and showed the Carrier entered through the back door which leads directly into the mailroom, left mail, (no package) and then left through the front door. Footage shows him leaving through the front door without stopping at Reception as he indicated in the system. read more

I'm praying for the day to come when this system goes out of business. I've had far too many run-ins with their office located at 10004 in New York City. I work in the neighborhood and transact most of my buisess from this location. With the uncertainity of my mail never getting to the intended destination, I always have to mail the simplest piece of paper via priority mail. The worst part about it is, even at this higher cost, my mail rarely arrive at its destination without some follow up queries from my end. My current dilemma is, on April 8, 2016 I spent $9.90 and sent a check to the Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany, New York. To date this letter has not yet been delivered. As if this is not bad enough, their tracking system is stating my letter was delivered to a different zip code in Troy, New York. Next, I contacted their consumer affairs unit by way of facsimile and seemingly they can't concoct a story to give me as at this time of writing. read more

I have no issues with the main Church Street Post Office. However, I have received my mail for over 20 years at the Bowing Green substation located in the lower level on the West Broadway entrance. Service there has always been great by ALL of the clerks. TODAY, however, Friday, June 6, 2014, was the most harrowing experience I have ever had my entire life at any postal facility. I went to the window at 3:05 PM with my call slip to pick up two packages. There was a note to call 212-330-5155 for assistance. I went to the main office upstairs and an employee dialed and said to return below that someone would be down to help. I waited a while, and another patron came with her call slips. She called on her cell and was told someone would be there in a second. Over 10 minutes later the supervisor came with the most unprofessional attitude and rudest/nastiest behavior I have ever witnessed. This woman was a candidate for an unbelievable horror show. We were both treated with unacceptable behavior. Please, I hope no other customers have to deal with this horrid person! I have seen her there before, and tried to file a complaint, but [surprise] the web link is "unavailable." This supervisor was vindictive, petty, and beyond rude. She is a disgrace to the postal service. I finally got mail packages at 3:45 PM, I had to practically beg to get my mail. I fear this person will retaliate due to her childish behavior. read more
