I don't know why people complain about this post office unless they already have a preconceived notion that government services are no good and should go away. I wish I could give STEVE a personal rating, but I can't. So I will say that he is the rudest person I have ever met in my life. Treated me like I was lower than him, that I had less intelligence, etc. He almost made me cry. I told him that I understood it was almost Christmas but I wish he would be nicer to me. He just stared at me and told me to go to another window. He cut me off at every question I had and proceeded to tell me I want paying attention. I went over to the other window and the guy that helped me couldn't have been more helpful and positive. I wish I remembered his name, all it says on my receipt is clerk #25. I like this location, it's convenient, and they offer a lot of services, however people like Steve ruined my experience and my day and it makes me not want to go back. read more

ZIPCODE 92054 - RESIDENTIAL MAIL DELIVERY Worst, most incompetent mail delivery service we have ever experienced in the country. Having mail delivered to Oceanside, California has become a nightmare. Our packages are constantly delivered to the wrong address. Our packages are no-where to be found even though the USPS website proclaims: "delivered". The mail carrier leaves packages at our door, only to be stolen by a thief before we know about the 'delivery'. Our mail carrier has even stated: "It's too much of a hassle to get a signature for a package, so I just leave it at the door". We have dealt with these scenarios several times a month, every month, for over three years. Having come here from another state, we are very thankful to be leaving.. We wish we could invoice the Oceanside USPS for all the aggravation, pain, and suffering they have caused our family. Good luck new Oceanside residents. You will surely need it. Receiving USPS mail in Oceanside, California is a Gamble. Pity there is not a "No Star" rating for this Post Office. I have in the last month received four items of mail that were not mine, including two parcels, so Heaven only knows how many pieces of my mail got delivered to someone else. Only a week ago, I checked a tracking number to find that an item I was expecting to be delivered that day, had been refused by me and was being returned to the sender. Strange, as I was not home all that day and I live alone..... After trying to call for over an hour (no one EVER answers the phone there) I contacted USPS head office to file a complaint, then I had to go to the Post Office and try to retrieve my package. I did get my package luckily and was assured that this would be dealt with, the carrier would be spoken to and situations of misdirected mail and my mail being refused by a non existent individual at my home would not occur again. Two days ago, a week after this assurance, I received the second of the two parcels I mentioned earlier that did not belong to me. Sadly, this is my post office for the area I live in so I am doomed. I am a democrat, but the US Postal Service is definitely an industry that needs to be privatized, as it is archaic, unreliable and no one really seems to care about customer service. Why should they? I work in a Commercial / Industrial Park in Oceanside and we have an ongoing issue with our mail delivery. Since we are in the heart of a business district we expect our mail to be delivered by noon every week day. This is not unreasonable as I have been told in the past that businesses trump residential areas and the USPS likes to have their mail to them by 11:00 AM, and this has been my experience everywhere I have ever worked until now. Our mail comes anywhere from 11:00 AM to after 5:00 PM - that's right, somedays our office is closed without ever having our mail delivered. I walk out to our cluster box every hour on the hour every day and come back empty handed most times. Not getting our mail on time disrupts the flow of our office as our work schedule is designed around our mail delivery, not to mention the colossal waste of my time waiting and checking for it all day. I have registered several formal complaints about their service to the on-line site. I get verification they have received my complaint, a follow up on whether it has been handled or not and how I would rate my satisfaction with how they handled my complaint, but nothing is ever fixed. Last time they wanted me to rate my satisfaction with how my complaint was handled before anyone from the USPS even contacted me, which was special. Over the last several years I have complained without results. On one occasion a supervisor called to let me know there was nothing they could do. Our area doesn't have an assigned carrier - it's whoever is available and they fit us in - are you kidding me?? A Commercial Complex without an assigned carrier?? And some days no mail at all. I wish I could work like that and keep my job and get regular raises. This is a disgrace but apparently there is no one in their agency with the authority to fix their issues. They need revamped from the ground up - but then so does the DMV... read more

OK so I think the first time I went here it was in the twilight zone bc ever since then I have not gotten the same lady (only white lady there), and therefore have had great service! Although there isn't much you can do about occasional long lines, this Post Office always has an employee in front of the counter making sure you have everything you need, and they'll pull you out of line to get you checked out on one of the kiosks if your package meets the criteria. On top of it, all the employees are very kind, happy and helpful. read more

I am a frequenter of this post office because it is the closest to my house and my husband is currently deployed over seas so we are sending packages almost weekly right now. Everyone has always been very helpful and polite in what is almost always a busy and chaotic place. The other day I was in to send my husband his birthday package with my kids in tow. By the time I got them out of the car, secured in the stroller and package in hand, we walked in the door at 5:03PM.... to late! The supervisor (Mike I believe) was kind enough to make an exception for me and let me be the last customer of the day. Thank you sir for taking pity on a busy mom! I will continue to use this post office for all of our shipping needs (and we have lots!) and recommend them to others. read more

It's election time and I'd like to remind the staff, especially the route drivers, at 92056 that postal ballots can be mailed up to election day! It says so on the envelopes and the Elections Office says the same thing. Last year I had a debate about that with my route driver and he refused to take my ballot. I also found out later that several of my neighbors ran into the same problem. So.....be informed about this on both sides. However, I urge you to mail it a day early just to be sure and, this year, I think it takes two stamps because of the weight of the ballot. Exercise your right to vote! The country needs it and so do you (the walk to the mail box won't hurt you). read more

Don in the passport office was terrific. On time with the appointment to the minute. My husband and I were being complicated and he was so patient and helpful, he was great towards my son and keeping a sense of humor through out. the entire experience. Almost made it a fun experience. There was a line up of people who didn't have appointments getting antsy while we were getting processed but he handled them all professionally trying to save them time even though one woman clearly did not like to adhere to the policies the employees have no control of. read more

I really like the people at this Post Office and waiting in line is sometimes entertaining but there usually is a wait and it is a little run down. I think that they need to spruce it up a little and hire a few more people. At the very least that might help Oceanside's economy a little. read more

But I had to give it one to write about my experienceS... 1. 8/24/15, I had a time-sensitive parcel that I had to mail to an attorney, IN California. I went INSIDE to the counter, to mail it. They said the estimated delivery date was the 26th. Needing it delivered, by the 29th, I figured that gave enough wiggle room. Apparently not. It wasn't delivered until the 31ST!!!!!!!!! 5 DAYS later than the estimated delivery, and did not get there in time for what the attorney needed it for. 2. 9/7/15, I went to the drive up mailbox and dropped off my car registration needed to be postmarked by 9/8/15. Dropping it off a day early, and the mail in those mailboxes getting picked up each day, I thought I was good, it would be postmarked a day early. Once again, NOPE. All of September, I waited for my registration in the mail. Two days ago, I got a notice from DMV saying my registration was post marked late, and needed to pay a late fee. I went into DMV today, and they told me it was postmarked on 9/16/15. 8 DAYS LATE!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me?! So they didn't pick up the mail in the mailbox for 8 days?!?! I thought it was supposed to be DAILY?! And no, this was not a fluke thing, since this is the SECOND time, and the SECOND piece of mail that has been late. Not by 1 or 2 days, but 5-8 DAYS LATE! 3. 10/1/15, after DMV, I walked into the post office and asked for the supervisor. I was met with Cristel. (She didn't introduce herself. I had to ask for her name after). Immediately she had this attitude, with a smirk on her face, spinning her glasses around in her hand, like she didn't give one you know what. She asked me what the problem was, and I told her about both instances. She seemed like she was in a hurry and wasn't listening at all to what happened. I brought in my new registration which shows the post marked date and the late fee I just paid. I requested they reimburse me for the late fee. Immediately she was defensive about both issues. Cristel: "that doesn't sound right." Me: "Well it is, because I got a tracking number for it." To my registration issue... Cristel: "My supervisor would argue with you too. We don't know when you put your registration in the mail. The post office doesn't just give out money. Since we didn't see you put it in the mail, it's your word against ours. I can tell you the mail that is put in the mailboxes, is picked up the same day." (My supervisor would argue with you too?! Really?! So right off the bat I'm wrong and you supervisors are going to ARGUE with me? Is that customer service?) Me: "Apparently not! This is 8 DAYS LATE! (Showing her the paperwork from DMV that says it was postmarked on the 16th.) This is the second time this has happened!" Cristel: "Well we don't know when you really put it in the mail." Me: "Do you guys have cameras here? Can you check the film when I put it in the mailbox?" Cristel: "No, we only have scanners. That's what I'm saying, we don't know if you really put it in the mailbox then." Me: "Then should I get the check with the date on it?" Cristel: (smirks and shrugs) "That won't help you." Me: "You are unbelievable. Is there someone else I can talk to?" Cristel: "She'll call you." I just walked away, and she slammed the door. Nice. Real classy. Real customer service. To even say, "I'm sorry, I can't issue you a reimbursement for the late fee, but I apologize this happened twice to you. I will look into it." Would have even been acceptable to me. But automatically, customer is wrong, lying, and they do everything perfect there and Cristel has too much pride to even apologize this happened. SUUUUUCH an attitude and I don't expect to hear ANYTHING from her supervisor like she said I would. If Cristel is working there, her supervisor allows that type of behavior and probably operates the same way. But if I don't hear anything today, you better believe I will be back there to get some answers. So doesn't matter if you go in, or to the drop off mailbox outside, no matter what, your mail will NOT be post marked on time OR delivered on time! Something is seriously wrong with this post office. And even more so, something is seriously wrong with the supervisor, Cristel. read more

Nice folks behind the counter, but the landscaping is disgusting. Weeds grow when it rains, then left to die. We have travelled all over the US and noted the pride other USPS offices take in their town. Not here. Asked about it, the young worker replied "its the government's fault". My experience is quite different from some of the reviews here. I haven't had to call here but it's always frustrating trying to call any post office. ( speaking from past experiences anyways ). I went here at a busy time and although there was a line there was someone assisting the line & he helped about 4 people with ease and was very informative and then continued to ask each person what they need help with. I sent somethings overseas and I tend to forget to still address the package too (as well as the form) The man helping me was more than patient. I mean they do this all day long and I don't. They are very thorough in making sure to ask if we need anything else, I didn't, but when you are nerve wracked you just might forget to buy your forever stamps. Ya know when you go to the store for milk but come back with everything but the milk. Today their customer service seems to have stepped up a notch. Happy Snail mail everybody! read more

I am so fed up with my mail man!! I have opened cases against him with no results! Last month a car hit our mailbox knocking it to the ground (pretty sure it was our mailman). My husband posted it back up the same night pushing it into the dirt. We then received a notice stating that mail will not be delivered until our mailbox is fixed. I had a package that same week arriving from Amazon and received an online notification claiming "delivery attempted." 1. Nothing was "attempted" because I was home all morning and day with my main door open waiting on this package. 2. The package wasn't even going in the mailbox, it was too big. So why hold a package that is not even going inside the box!? My front porch is not broken!!!!! I called corporate to complain, they opened a case and scheduled a "redelivery" for the next day. The next day, the mailman knocks on my door pretty upset looking and says "did you get my notice I left!? I'm holding your mail until your mailbox is fixed, I've had boxes fall into my car before and blah blah blah!" I explained that when we moved in, the mailbox was on the floor last year and when we contacted our lease office, the guy just came and stood it back up. He went to his car to give me a paper that has mailbox standards to give to our property manager and suggested that we put our mailbox in a bucket with cement. Maintenance permanently fixed our mailbox on Monday morning and we even received mail yesterday. TODAY I get another "attempted delivery" bs notification!!!!! Again, another package that doesn't even go in my mailbox! It's a damn record player!!!! My mail man is either lazy, angry and holding a grudge for the complaint or just playing games and we're sick of it!!! Called and held 28 mins today to schedule another redelivery and file another complaint. Also, another mail man is always marking packages as "delivered" several hours before they actually get here. read more

I am working in San Diego for the time and can't make it to the Post Office in time to pick up a signature required package and they're closed on the weekends. I have this to say regarding the Avenida Del Oro Post Office, their customer service policy stinks! I waited in a long line for a clerk and when I finally got one (Carol) I asked for a delivery confirmation slip as there are none on the counter. As I stood their filling it out (It's very short) she summoned the next customer and then told me she was unable to complete my transaction as she started a new and lengthy one. I was told to get back in the front of the line and wait for the next clerk. I was not happy to do so as I had waited quite a while to begin with and was late for an appointment. I objected and told her that I remember waiting my turn while others filled out slips and they were not asked to get back in line. She said, "Sorry, that's policy". I asked to speak with her supervisor (Sheila) and had another uncomfortable wait for her and was about to leave when she appeared. When I told her my problem she "coldly" said "that's our policy". If this is an example of our government service it's no wonder people are afraid to let them run our health care. They are a cold and indifferent entity. I wish I knew how to contact the Postmaster General that oversees that Post Office so I could tell him what I think of their customer service. read more

this is by far the worst most un professional post office I have ever had to deal with. community boxes in our neighborhood were broken into and all of our mail was stolen.The delivery driver put a note on our box saying it would be fixed on the 18th of coarse that did not happen.I went to the postoffice to find out what the deal is and the supervisor was by far the rudest b@### i have ever had to deal with.She basically said its not our problem and you have 30 days to fix it or your mail will be returned to sender.I then asked for a list of venders to call because I have no idea who fixes mail boxes and she said its going to take a while we will get back to you are you freaking kidding me. After complaining in person at this post office about a month ago, things got better until today. A short dark haired postal worker (seemed like he might be Filipino or Hispanic ) dropped off packages at the door and rang the doorbell. Every postal worker from this post office is flipping different in what they do. My husband who is a 90% disabled vet came to get the packages and the worker is sitting in his truck at the mailbox. My husband says "is there any mail in the box?" from the front door 20 feet away or more. Because some workers drop all of the mail off at the door in a container and some don't which is retarded(vindictive) ...like why bring me a box and then stuff the mailbox at the street with more packages and regular mail? So the guy says snottily "you'll have to come over here and look!" As if he thought my husband was asking him to bring the rest of the mail which he wasn't. So my husband goes to the mailbox and the postal guy is standing there like waiting for him. My husband says "you don't have to be like that. Just say yes or no" and the postal jerk says "I don't have to say anything to you at all! Just look in the box!" And my husband who is pulling out more mail and packages out of the box said "I don't have to take your s$$$...just move along" because the idiot decided to continue spewing his two cents worth and the guy says "I don't have to take your s$$$ either!" And so my husband then said "then go on and move along". So the worker drives to the next house and starts talking to the neighbor next door. So I look at the first package he shoved in the box and we go back to the first complaint I made in January...the moron delivered someone else's package to me! Wtf? So as soon as possible I am moving my mail to a postal annex near me that is independently owned. I am sick of these rude postal workers that hate their jobs. read more

If you need to talk to someone at this location, don't call the number. It's continuously busy. I called for 5 hours straight off and on, phone busy. I ended up going there in person to get assistance and u noticed that a phone was off the hook. When I brought to the clerks attention she asked another clerk. The response was, they put a customer on hold and picked up another extension but forgot to hang up the other. This happened on more than one occasion. Just not great customer service. read more

This post office is an absolute JOKE! I have had delivery issues with them that are bordering on criminal. I've paid for premium forwarding service beginning November 14, 2012 through the first of the year (2013), which cost a LOT .. never have received even the first package. Delivery is supposed to be priority mail (2-3 day service) and it's now been 10 days since my first delivery should have started - NO MAIL. I doubt I'll ever see any of my money back and this post office has messed up several business and personal transactions for me by this point. I'm fed up with them! read more

Their phone is always busy. I've called them at least 20 times in the last year and have never been able to get through. When I went it to tell them the supervisor told me they purposely leave it off the hook because they are too busy to answer and that if it's busy in the future I would need to physically go in. read more

Id arranged to have a package held at the post office to be picked up after being notified by email. Theyre supposed to hold it 15 days. Well I never got an email except the one saying they wete returning to sender. After looking at the tracking info it was obviously only there four days. So im thinking this should be relatively simple..intercept the package and have it sent back to my post office. If I do not pick my mail up EVERY SINGLE DAY, if I miss one day, they leave me a pink slip and I have to drive over there and stand in line and most of it is junk mail that I never asked for. It depends on the driver too. We had a mail lady who was very personal with all of the neighbors and made every effort to not inconvenience you. When she retired we have had drivers who knock over mail boxes or in my case just bend it over and then suddenly we are all driving to the post office regularly to pick up mail because suddenly our mail does not fit in the box. Then the phone is ALWAYS BUSY for hours when you call. We should have input into evaluating the drivers. People complain about the in office service which I have not experienced but the drivers change daily and apparently have no accountability. I am able to drive over and get my mail - under duress - but I have neighbors who would not be able to do that. Shame on you for creating impossible situations that we are actually paying for and that we have no say about. read more

Lost my package and didn't care to help out. They act like it's not their problem. If my package never gets scanned in and gets lost before leaving your building then yeah it's your fault you incompetent people. You should tell people they need insurance because you guys can't even do your job right which is what we are paying you to do. Cost me over $200 because you guys can't do your job right. The employees here should all be fired and replaced with people that can actually do the job right. How does a package dissappear into thin air? I can't wait for the day when the Post Office is obsolete and everything has to be electronically transmitted because this Post Office is not worth the money it costs to keep it open. If you go in person, the place is chaotic and the lines are ridiculous. Forget about phoning. They take the phone off the hook. Even when it's closed, the line is busy. There is no one overseeing the place, and mail seems to be lost in cyber space. Forget about getting your mail temporarily forwarded. They simply return it to sender noting either "addressee is unknown", "no forwarding address", or whatever else they feel like making up. But, of course, when you are lucky to get someone to respond to your concerns, they deny doing anything wrong and blame it on some unseen, unknown entity existing only in their own minds or somewhere in cyberspace, address and phone number even unknown to them. There is nowhere else in this Country such incompetence is tolerated. Let's close them down and start all over again. read more
