They regularly return mail and packages back to sender although all mailing information is correct

You really won't get your mail consistently if you use this place. Have had many birthdays and Christmases ruined because these guys straight up lost the packages. Amazon literally flagged my account because of the number of deliveries that have gone missing here. You'll get about 4 out of 5 packages during non-busy times of the year, 0-2/5 at busy times like the holidays. And if/when they find them months later, you'll either get the same surprised Pikachu face like it's some sort of joke to them or just a blank empty stare. If you have something to mail out, they seem to be better about that, though some of the employees are horrible as far as customer service. Jerry was great but he's retired. The majority of the staff seem to be dealing with some sort of chronic low grade depression. I suspect it's a top-down/management related issue as the seems to be across the board and significantly worse than other post offices I've used. I would avoid this place if possible. There are much better alternatives out there, even if you live in the area. read more

Without a doubt, the most courteous, pleasant and accommodating USPS office I've ever experienced.

This is the worst post office. My mom and my sister bought me a laptop for my birthday and had it shipped here. Tracking showed it was delivered to the Rancho Santa Fe post office. The completely incompetent kid who works at the counter told me it wasnt there. Told me his manager wasnt there yet she was there and usually is. My sister had to file a police report to get a replacement sent. Either the staff stole the original laptop or it was put in the wrong PO box and the owner of that PO box kept it. I had some speakers ordered last week. Tracking said it arrived. Its not there. Here we go again. If its important to you DO NOT HAVE ITEMS SHIPPED HERE! The whole staff should be fired and replaced. This post office is the WORST!! I have had packages say they were delivered to my PO Box and never received them! I never got reimbursed for the lost or placed in someone else's box items. I frequently get other people's mail in my box. I do not get what their problem is. How difficult is it to place the right mail in the right box? read more

I saw 2 five star reviews and I just had to put them in their place. Yes there is a 24 hour P.O. Box area like any other post office of this stature. But the main reason I'm leaving one star is that every time I have had a package go through the specific US post office building. It has either been returned to sender or held at this post office. Every time I will have to check on what's going on with my package and go and pick it up there. On top of that picking up a package every time there is different every time. Sometimes they argue with me until I make enough sense where they find the package and sometimes they just tell me to fill out a form. This time they told me to fill out a strip, and nothing has happened for a week. I now do not have my package and don't know where is is!!!!!!! read more

Pros: Great customer service. P.O. Box access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Last collection times Monday through Friday at 5:15 p.m. and Saturday at 3:00 p.m. I've been using this Post Office for over 20 years. Almost perfect experience. I have never received any damaged or broken items. The people behind the service desk are efficient and quick. They like to keep the line moving so nobody has to spend half of their day at the post office. Cons: The facility is old and slightly run down from wear and tear over the decades. During lunch time hours, busy hours, or rush hour, the line for customer service can be out the door, and they may only have 1 or 2 service representatives attending the customers, which causes everyone else to wait longer. The phone will ring endlessly if you call during busy hours. If you need a PO Box and you are in the covenant area, you can count on this Post Office ! read more

You can NEVER rely on this post office to have you own mail in your box. Frequently I have mail that clearly has another mailbox listed. Packages that have been paid for expecting delivery by noon are disillusioned to believer could happen. The open hours 11:00 to 1:30 don't help either. If your package is perishable DON'T trust it to this post office. read more

If zero stars were available I would give that! Today was the third consecutive day I've attempted to pick up a package which was mistakenly delivered to this post office. The tracking showed the package was there, it had been scanned in there twice already, but the people at the counter won't take the time to go retrieve it. They give me a slip to fill out for a lost package with tracking number & contact info which says someone will call you within 24hrs & push me to the next empty window. As I'm filling out my form there are half a dozen such forms strewn about the window counter falling in the cracks & on the floor - completed forms with the same date on them as mine - & I can't help but wonder if they even do anything with them. The place is a wreck with bulging stacks of mail & random shoeboxes of overflowing files piled up around the counters. The two customers in the line prior to me storm out disgruntled with similar problems. I snap a pic of my form. After 10min of arguing with the guy trying to tell me that my package isn't there because I'm not a PO box holder there, they take my form & tell me that my package IS there but that it will take them a couple days to get to it. I tell them I just need to make sure that it doesn't get returned because it is an international package that took three weeks to arrive & clear customs. They tell me someone will call me when they find it. Same story the next day. Today I arrive to try again & the same guy goes to the back for 5 seconds then tells me "oh, sorry, it's gone. It was sent back. We called you". I received no call, no text, no voicemail, NOTHING! I ask to see their call logs with date, time & number called, who the employee was that made said call, and why they didnt leave a message or send an email since they had that on my form as well? He looks over my head & asks to help the next person in line! Complete & utter BS. My husband & I have lived here in RSF since 2011 in a part of the covenant that is not serviced by the United States Postal Service, though it does receive deliveries from FedEx, UPS, DHL etc. We quickly learned what a headache this can be due to deals the USPS has made with UPS & FedEx to have them hand off packages to USPS for final delivery. Unfortunately for us this typically results in USPS marking the item "Undeliverable" by the RSF PO & returning it to the sender. Our packages will often get hung up in limbo at the RSF post office where we learned very quickly how ROTTEN the service is. So bad in fact that we chose to have our PO box in Solana Beach where the staff is at least personable & competent (by comparison). Your package could be there (RSF Post Office) for days, be scanned in to the tracking system for "attempted delivery" multiple times, at that location, but when you go there to retrieve it they will give you every excuse in the book to not have to go to the back to find it EVEN THOUGH the tracking information clearly shows it there. Only twice have we been so lucky as to encounter someone there who cared enough to DO THEIR JOB & actually go to the back to find our package for us, and both times it was the same lady (I'm sorry I don't remember her name, but she had longer reddish blond hair & seems to usually be there around closing time). read more

I have lived here 53 years and I have never had bad service. They are quick and efficient but could use an extra person as they often seem rushed. I would probably give them five stars if there were an extra person. read more

This is not the first time I have experienced rude service here. In this case my package was delivered 10 days prior. After checking my box many times over the last week and verifying with the company that my package was, in fact, delivered to my PO Box, I went in again to fill out the yellow form with the tracking number. The employee looked at the tracking number and said, 'what's that, our numbers don't start with a 5'. I showed him the detail of the FEDEX tracking info. He rudely picked up about 10 other yellow sheets and said we will get to it as he fanned out them out and rolled his eyes. He then added, with an attitude, 'and we still need to deliver the mail'. So frustrating. My package, as stated by FEDEX, was delivered to the post office. It's not my fault. The fault seems to be on the post office side. Frustrating situation to begin with and then to be dismissed so rudely left me angry. Someone needs to have a meeting with the staff a the RSF location. They all seem to be on their high horse and customer service is last on the list. read more
