For anyone trying to do your child's passport application at this location, make sure you have all of your materials: application, photo, check for each ap, both parents present at appointment or notarized letter excusing one parent, birth certificates, and two forms of identification for yourself. This is the only location in our area that does the passports and the staff at this location are very rude when you don't have your materials or an appointment. Even tho online it says walk in welcome. The staff here will NOT help you. They don't answer any questions and just bark at you that it's all online. They seem to be VERY irritated that they have to do the passport process. There's one lady in particular who've I've now dealt with 3 times who is absolutely awful- good luck to all the moms just trying to get their kids documents, this place sucks! read more

I usually love this post office because of the self service kiosk, but I went today at 5:50p to find the doors locked, and no one there to open the P.O. box room. The posted hours on the door were open until 6 p.m., and on the USPS website it said until 7 p.m.. Unfortunate for people who work during regular hours and rely on the self service kiosk to ship out. No note on the door saying they're closing early and no one responding to knocks. Guess I'll try tomorrow again after work and hope they aren't closed early this time! read more

When I visit this post office I always know that the service will be friendly & speedy. Depending on the time and or day you visit the line can get super long. Even when it is they manage to help everyone fairly quickly. They also process passports at this location. Making an appointment is a good idea. An assortment of envelopes, boxes, cards, stamps, etcetera are available for purchase. They are located next to Sprouts grocery. Plenty of parking is available. read more

There's a sign on the door that says the lobby is open till 6 pm and from 6PM to 6AM, the lobby requires a code to get in. So how is it that by 5:54, the door is already locked? Counted 4 people coming to the door trying to securely drop off their package before the "6PM" time to just be disappointed. read more

Wow! Waited 1 hour as the line does not move. These folks are super inefficient. They really need to see how the PB post office on Garnett runs. The folks there are super helpful, patient, and speak clearly. Reba needs extra training - acts like a supervisor when she is not. Also no manager on site at this location to discuss issues with. read more

Not a good experience. Went to get a passport renewed and I got an appointment at 10:30 with an expectation that it would only take about 15 mins per there website when I made the appointment. I understand sometimes take longer than expected but I arrived at 10:18 and I still wasn't seen by 11:00. I had to leave because I was going to be late to another appointment. The women working there were very slow and very chatty in the back you could hear them through the door just chatting away while a whole waiting room of people were waiting to be seen. Do not recommend doing any passport services at this location it is extremely disorganized and takes much longer than it needs to be. read more

This post office is not on my usual path but since I was in the area and had in my car a package I needed to ship, Yelp showed me the way to this one. I really liked the look, very retroish, like stuck in the '70s. Staff was friendly and quick, considering that seems to be a heavily frequented post office. I found they were very fast and efficient. And they smile, that matters a lot! Also there was someone like a manager or something asking people what they needed, I guess to divert people to DIY when possible. Good job. read more

I just moved to the area and was honestly anxious to go to this post office after seeing these reviews but it was GREAT! They had 3 people working the counter along with people in the back. The supervisor was also walking around helping people in line and answering questions to expedite the process. The wait was short even though there was about 5 people in front of me. I also desperately wanted the new James Webb stamps and they didn't have any left so they let me purchase the display stamps! This post office has a lady working there who has a name tag with no name written on it, who provided the absolute worst customer service to a deceased Veteran's daughter today, 04OCT25. The NOK was trying to obtain his burial flag and the process and exchange provided by no-name were unacceptable. Interactions between a customer trying to plan a burial and picking up an American Flag should not be a negative experience with the general public; afterall San Diego NB and Point Loma supply many of your patrons. read more

Post offices generally get terrible reviews so when I have particularly pleasant experiences at a post office I think they deserve a good one. I can't speak for others but this is the best post office staff I've visited consistently. I don't go too often, don't always know what I'm doing, and they are always very helpful, patient, and friendly. They're always happy to explain options and tend to anticipate my questions and help get me what I'm looking for. The lines are never too bad and I haven't seen the understaffing others have talked about. Even when there's a line things move along and I'm glad to get the same amount of attention everyone else gets when it's my turn. The staff is consistent so I know I'll be the same service every time. And best of all, I've never had any trouble leaving packages on the counter, unlike at other post offices where things disappeared or never even got scanned. Always a pleasant visit! read more

You gotta be kidding me! WORST post office location EVER! Bad attitude, NO customer service, extremely inefficient! NO self service kiosk! Came in on Saturday, and there was a huge line of people and only one person working. You have got to be kidding me, Saturday is the busiest day of all and there's one service person?! I tried looking around for the self-help kiosk, and there was none to be found. This location is extremely old, outdated, and dirty. This review could have been a one star but David turned it into a 5 star. I had an appointment for a passport application but for some reason it wasn't showing up in the system and initially I received little sympathy or support. I was told I could reschedule or wait and hope someone else no showed for their appointment. At the end of the day David took care of me and my family. He could have easily forced us to reschedule but he helped us out. He saw my anxiety and was so kind. He went beyond what was necessary to really help me, and I will forever be grateful. read more

This is not a review of the Post Office on Governor but of the horrible carrier annex. Sometimes Amazon for some reason that escapes me chooses USPS as the delivery carrier and the packages are never delivered. You get a note in your mailbox stating you must pick up the package as the carrier "is not allowed to leave anything at your door". Odd that UPS, FedEx, Golden State and of course Amazon's own delivery personnel all leave parcels at your door. I have complained to Amazon about USPS to no avail as they say that the delivery carrier is selected by AI and you cannot choose beforehand. It costs $139 a year for Prime with free delivery and if Amazon chooses USPS your package is NOT delivered. Something is wrong with that picture. Every time Amazon chooses USPS I send the item back for a refund because it was not delivered to my address as I wished. The Post Office is 30 years behind the times. read more

I was in the area and I needed to mail a big envelope and maps on my phone guided me to this post office. It is very small and if several people came here at the same time it would seem crowded. I found the postal workers friendly and efficient. It is a great post office but if a lot of people go around the same time it would seem crowded. Blame the limited space they have not the postal workers. read more

Staff are always polite and very efficient. When observing how they help people, they are very efficient. Usually if it's taking longer with someone, it tends to be the rate at which the customer can comprehend information that slows things down. I come here often to mail items and get certificates of mailing. A staff member (clerk 24) realized this and offered me a book that provides a discount when needing a certificate of mailing for 3 or more. Really cool she thought about this! read more

I went here for the first time during lunch today. I had to send a package from a Poshmark sale. I had my items in a flat rate envelope but I also put the paid postage from Poshmark on it. The lady working there said you're not supposed to use paid postage with the flat rate envelopes but she said she'll let it go this time. I've done the same thing before and sent it at the Costa Verde location and no one ever mentioned it wasn't okay. She still took the package anyway... I just don't understand why employees of of the US Postal Service assume you know every single policy and procedure they have to follow to accomplish your request. I went into this location to process my stolen passport, which I need expedited because I'm leaving the country in less than a month. Please note that I had every single one of the 12 required documents filled out and ready, I just needed them to process it. Despite the fact that I was visibly anxious about my closing timeline, here's how the conversation went: Me: Hi, I'd like to process the paperwork on a stolen passport which needs to be expedited. Employee (looking at me as if I were bat shit crazy): Uuhhhhhhhhhhh, you need to make an appointment Me: I didn't realize I needed an appointment, that's fine, when is your next appointment? Employee: Oh, well we don't have one open for another...... two weeks. Me: WHAT??? Two weeks?! I am leaving very soon, do you know of another office that might have a spot available today or tomorrow? Employee: You can go to Midway, they take walk-ins. Me: Ok great! Do you have their number so I can make an appointment? Employee: But.... they take walk-ins....... Me: Yeah, that's fine but I'd like to make an appointment so I don't make this mistake again. etc. etc. etc. I'm sorry, what the hell? My passport was STOLEN and I'm leaving the country in 22 days. It's not a matter of laziness or sheer procrastination which is forcing me to spend an arm and a leg to get this thing expedited. This is not fun for me, and I'm not trying to put you out. Christ, you can't act like a human for five minutes and process my paperwork in the next week? I feel like that's a very reasonable request, and to have them treat me like a miscreant is offensive. This place has great customer services, especially for people making their passport. I came in to finally make my passport after months of being hounded by my wife to make one. When I got up to the counter, the lady was very nice and polite. She apologized for the wait because there was a girl who needed multiple documents plus photos and so it took too long. She went over my paperwork, told me what I needed and help me take care of it. She was very nice and made me feel comfortable with the process. Her tone was very welcoming, not one of those from someone who sounds repetitive like a robot just pushing passport processes thru. She took the time to help me complete the process. Will probably come back her if I ever need to renew or recommend it to others. read more

i resent the other review for this post office. you shouldnt give a place a 1 star because of their rules and regulations. no where in that review does it actually talk about service, which is what a review is about. stop whining about being too cheap and lazy to take care of the packaging of your item - that is not, nor has it ever been the USPS's responsibility. Yeah, thats what the mailing stores are for (and why they charge more). do you really expect taping for free? it costs them money to buy the tape...come on now. /rant of person who obviously doesnt really getting reviewing. SO...normally it seems odd to give a government service 5 stars...but based on what i experience at most postal locations, this branch is a joy! it is always completely EMPTY so you get in and out in 5 mins when you need to mail a package. go down the road to the branch in the Costa Verde center (across from the UTC mall) and you may wait 30-40 mins. yeah, no thanks! the university city location is quick and easy and the people are really friendly. every time i go in there the ladies compliment me on my necklace of the day. ive never felt so fashionable. haha. but seriously, if you are forced to go inside a USPS to mail a package or something this is the location in the UTC area to go to. the no line factor (ever) is an instant 5 stars. the only draw back is their closing hours is a lot earlier than a lot of locations i know...they close at 5 pm weekdays and something like 2 pm on sat. worth working around their schedule than showing up at costa verde at 5:30 and being stuck in a 20 person line... read more

So, I go there to mail a package (which I've done at a million post offices throughout this fine country of ours) and I need to use their tape. Not a big deal, right? The P.O. always has tape for your packages. NOT ANY MORE. Here's the conversation. Me: I'd like to mail this package please. Woman with the mullet: It's not taped. Me: I know, can I use your tape? Mullet: We're not allowed to give tape. Me. Are you joking? Mullet: No, you have to buy it now. Me: (uncomprehendlingly): What? Mullet: There's a display rack over there where you can buy it. Me: But they've always let me tape my packages. What about priority mail? Mullet: not at this location. They tell us to have customers buy the tape. It's $3.29 Me: So, you have no tape at all? Mullet: No. Me: (muttering in disbelief and wandering away discombobulated) I can't believe how you nickel and dime people. I'm not going to buy a roll of tape that I'm going to use once. Long story short. I went to Postal Annex next door (which is 1000 times better, but too expensive) and they taped my package for me. I agree with Heather W.'s review, this place is not a Postal Anex. Her review is perfect. Anyone who arrives at the post office and expects the post office to freely package and tape your item should grab your ears and pull your head out of you're a**. Go to UPS, ask brown what they can do for you, then pay the extra money if that is what you want. This particular Post Office is further than my local one at UTC, but I come here because the folks behind the counter take the time to do it right AND WITH A SMILE. From the surveys they ask you to fill - that this particular branch scores as one of the highest for customer satisfaction. This place fucking rocks!! I absolutely hate going to the post office I had to go because well you know I travel I'm a jet setter that's what I do. And Myra was wonderful! I made an appointment the day before I was late to my appointment by 15 minutes but they still got me in because I'm a player... but I was late because I was getting my hair did. Had to look good for that photo op! The service was fast and friendly very accommodating very helpful very nice and very patient! I live about 17 minutes away from this post office and La Jolla and I have a post office about three minutes from my house that I will never go to again I will drive my happy ass over here and I hate driving just to get the service that this post office gives can't believe how happy the workers are here and how fast everything went and smooth.
