I got selected to the second round of interviews and testing for the City Carrier Assistant position. One of the first things they mention in the orientation is that the job position is part time, on call, and with zero guarantee of hours. No where in the job posting on Indeed.com was this mentioned (which Indeed definitely lets you designate). They wait until you schedule time off and you show up in person to let you know this fact. They said if you have a problem with this you should exit the interview now. We'll thanks for the heads up and loss of a day's wage to apply for a job that I would have skipped if I had known all the facts. Honestly I wish I could sue them if lawyers weren't so expensive. Another applicant followed after me and opted out of the application process too. The instructions for the orientation mention "do not bring children" to the interview. So that implies people might be having to get daycare to apply to this bogus job opening. This is beyond inconsiderate for people who have children and are already on limited budgets. Although this is not me, I sympathize with single parents applying for these jobs. Let's face it, if they told the truth nobody would apply to this job. This should have been described as "seasonal work with no guarantee of hours". If I lied or withheld facts on my job application, I would be disqualified (and rightfully so). Yet the same courtesy is not granted in return. USPS used to be a great organization. My grandfather worked for them and things were better back in his time. Nowadays, I can't tell the difference between them and Amazon on how they operate. Shame on you USPS. read more

The line here has always been long anytime I've come in, and more than half the time I've had a clerk that was less than friendly or leaning towards disgruntled. However I've just realized I can use the self service kiosks for my QR code prepaid labels, and thankfully there's two here, so my experience has improved. read more

I was so happy I found a place that does passports. My appointment took 15 minutes! The reason for that was that I had everything ready. I had my application, my photo, a check and my old passport. Dorothea was awesome and so was David. I had an appointment and I still had to wait about an hour to be seen because they didn't have enough staff. The place was clean and there's a lot of parking. My only gripe is that there's no public restroom. A place where people have to wait a long time, should have a public restroom. Sometimes you just got to Go! When I got there I had to use the restroom (nerves). I probably had that LOST look and I was asked if I was looking for the passport office. The two or three women who were there, we very friendly. I've had several mail come missing from this place particularly TCG cards. Some envelopes have come slightly opened. I should not have to drive there to get to the bottom of it. No one picks up the phone and the site is trash. Bad customer service. Conduct an investigation. read more

We showed up 30mins early for our passport appointment. Someone else took our appointment window because our two babies were not present when we were called to the window. After being directed to the supervisor, we asked whether we could just be seen in place of those customers who were then seen early. The supervisor said they'd have to ask the employees at passport window. She then told us we should leave, but that she couldn't explicitly tell us NOT to wait. We chose to wait. The employee at the window asked after some time (maybe 15-20mins) "So what did she say?" It seems there was zero communication between them. They just arbitrarily decide whether they feel like being helpful or not. I understand they're short staffed, but logically it just made no sense why our appointments weren't just flip flopped if customers were seen during our "missed" appointment window. Anyway, I went up to the window again and asked if we could be seen if we reduced our appointment to just the two babies since that's so much harder to schedule with my husband being at work during all hours appointments are available. And to my surprise: I was told I could be seen in either 10min, or I'd be next- after that appointment. Great!! Still, None of it makes any sense. And only one employee made any effort at all to be helpful. It wasn't the supervisor. read more

This is the nicest, most bougie post office I've ever seen. It is so big and clean and they must have fired all the broken down, grumpy, ready to give up on life Postal Workers because this was the entire fleet of smiling and happy government workers. Or maybe they brought in the USPS's Christmas Cheer Crew because I've never had a more pleasant experience at the post office. On a personal note, they had every Christmas stamp known to man, so of course I had to buy a sampling of each. Now my Christmas Card recipients will get a fun little surprise when they see what stamp they end up with. This place is the cleanest and most stocked post office; as it should be for the SD Headquarters. I remember my time working here decades ago. I will say that I like how they had all six windows running and open. They even had the box section clerk working window to help out with the line. Check out my pictures they show all the good stuff that this post office has to be proud of. Everything is clean the floors the walls the posters the stock of cards the stock of boxes the stock of mailing supplies and everything in the whole place is just top-notch first class perfect. The only downside to my visit was that I was asking to see black heritage stamps, to purchase, and they didn't have not one in stock. Also, when the woman window clerk came to show me which stamps I could buy, she held them away from me so far that I could barely even see them. She wouldn't even let me touch them to see what I was trying to look at. I felt like she was afraid that I was going to Steal them without paying. I knocked off a star for the way I was treated because that was so unnecessary. You see my fat ass diamond ring on my finger in UCI I have cash and my debit card out. Besides that I'm a customer and it would be stupid of me to even think about stealing your stamps. Overall, facility-wise this is the best post office in the whole county of San Diego. Super clean, well stocked, and lines love quickly. They do need to beef up their stamp stock to include diverse black heritage and other celebratory cultures. It is not easy for me to walk in to drop off an express mail envelope. I checked the drive-up twindow open times on line prior to my arrival. Once again it was closed. What is the purpose of having a drive up window that never seems to be open during posted open times? Ok so I'll go in, which is no easy task. This is the only US post office I like to come to in San Diego. I am a local resident and have been coming here for years. I just love that there's ample parking and whenever you go inside to send a package, the line is always fast and the employees are always friendly. This post office is also very well-kept and super clean. I like that they have ample lanes if you want to drive through and drop off package or mail. The location is also very central to the freeway and is just overall the best location for a post office. I have never had any issues when coming here. Time to send another package to the kiddo. This time we weren't prepared. As I gaze at the shipping options, I hear a voice asking, "Where is it going?" I'm not in line as I attempt to resolve the packaging challenge. The question is asked again. I lift my gaze and notice an associate standing nearby. "NYC", I reply. She quickly escorts me to her space and provides that illusive bubble envelope. It's perfect! I move to another counter and patiently wait my turn in line. Yes, I end up with her again. I'm so glad I chose this post office to handle all my passport needs! It's been over 20 years since I've left the country and I had not renewed my passport (Eek!) in years so I had to go in person to apply and take an updated passport photo. Location: Convenient location by Interstate 15 and near Costco and other businesses. Plenty of parking on a Friday afternoon. This location is huge, but there are signs to direct you on where to go. The interior is open, well-maintained, and clean. I appreciated all the COVID safety guidelines put in place. They also ensured proper social distancing was conducted and certain access to the building was limited to avoid traffic. Customer service: Effortless process !! I recommend making an appointment ahead of time as there may be a wait. Fortunately for me, there were only a few people ahead of me and they were able to take me in a little earlier than my scheduled time! Sweet! Staff seemed very happy and accommodating. Mila assisted me and was very professional, helpful, and kind. Make sure you have all your documents ready and filled out correctly, because it will make the process fast and easy. I was also able to take multiple photos to see if I was happy with the results. The prices were reasonable and I was in and out in 15 minutes! Wow! Great customer service from Mila! She made the experience so stress-free! Highly recommend this location for all your passport needs. I can't vouch for the other departments, but I was pleased with my experience. Terrible customer service. Waited in line for almost 30 minutes. Lady with red hair just stared instead of calling up the next person in line. When I went up to her, she didn't say anything. Asked her some questions on how to fill out the info for the package and if I could reuse a box. She just stood there staring and eventually said "just write it on the box and come back". Yeah no, not waiting another 30 minutes in line for that. She could have easily just showed me how to fill it out and print out the label but provided nothing. What a waste of a enormous, beautiful location. This place is gigantic and super convenient for me. By far the worst customer service at a post office. Not a single smile or welcome. Then god forbid you don't have your package taped and ready. I asked which envelope I should use for a specific piece to be mailed properly and effectively to keep cost down. Que huff and eye roll. It's a post office, I don't expect people to be very friendly here. Reading some of the reviews of frustration in them not providing tape for free or helping to box packages for you confuses me. UPS, FedEx charge for this it's up to their discretion. Anyways, I've shipped international packages and had pleasant experiences. You don't always get the nicest person but this location is well kept, I've had very nice individuals who patiently answer questions and experienced no real issues with customer service. Thankful for the large parking lot and convenience of this location. They offer tracking receipts every time I've dropped off packages, not every location offers this. I even had a very kind gentleman who worked here see me heavily pregnant and offered to take in my package that wouldn't fit into the office for me right as the doors were locked. No bathrooms in such a huge post office is a minus. First time in this office, service was pretty fast. I have been passing around for years before I moved back and also thought was not open to public but more like a processing or distribution center. This is a nice large USPS location . They have drive thru drop off as well for mail . Interior is spacious and well lit . There's a volunteer guy that's by the postal workers who I think can take in packages . He wasn't very friendly but oh well . I asked him if he could give me weight on my package and he asked why . He said it wasn't needed but I explained my reasons . I quickly said to him it's probably best to speak to postal person which he quickly waved me off to. And there was no line ! Maybe it was time of day ? There were about three working postal workers I saw behind counter . The postal worker was kind and efficient . She fully understood the weight issue and promptly weighed package and printed out receipt with tracking confirmation. Lots of parking as well . This is our regional postal center, and I go into it a couple a times per year. This morning was one of them. I needed to mail a certified letter/return receipt. Once I filled out the forms, there was only one customer ahead of me in line and two clerks at the counter. One of the clerks was engaged in what sounded like a personal conversation with a customer; the other was busy measuring multiple large packages for mailing overseas. The worst customer service. They nickel and dime you at this location only. They make you buy tape if your sending a large priority mail package. Then I got it all to fit in a medium box and they wanted to charge me by weight because the box wasn't completely flat. They didn't worry that it would open or contents would come out because it fit In the box. So it was just being petty . Find another post office or mail via ups/fed ex. USPS at this location are not helpful nor kind . UPDATE : just went to Carmel valley location and they took the box for me no issues!!! If you're hesitant about going inside and potentially standing in line due to the pandemic or just trying to save time I highly recommend doing drive through, it's so quick and contactless and every employee I've been helped by has been EXTREMELY nice and helpful. They have different limited hours for drive through than the actual post office so I would check those out before you head over but otherwise there's really no negative to the service. read more

I live in Hillcrest and visit the local post office once a month. It's a small one and there's always a line and I like the majority of the workers in there. Always polite and I'm sure it's a tough job. I would give it a higher star rating but, yesterday I went in there and there was very long line because of the social distancing and I saw a tall man, he was servicing the self-serve machine and was not wearing a mask! This didn't Stan well with me and he walked in and out of the main mail room several times. Still without a mask! There were probably over 20 people in line having to past him and it really made me mad. So, when I finally received the mail person I told her about the situation. I told her what he look like, what he was wearing and without a mask. She informed me that he was the Post Master! WOW!! To my disbelief I said I want to report him. She suggested I go online and report him and I said please give me a piece of paper and I will write it down for you which I did. She also said he never wears a mask ... and I said that's a great way to be a role model in this time of a crazy virus! I never thought I'd be writing a review for a post office but I've got to give their passport office props. I had a 10:15 appointment on a Friday morning and they were ready within a few minutes of that time. Nate was amazing and whipped through the application process in minutes. He even took a great passport photo that I'm proud to have. I had attempted to get one taken at Walgreens earlier in the week and that lady was making up rules, like that my ears had to show in the picture and I'm not a big fan of my ears. Since that didn't appear to be a actual rule according to the official passport photo website, I skipped that photo and opted to get it done at the actual location. All that was requested here was that I push my slightly side swept "bangs" off my eyebrow a fraction of an inch. He even showed me the photo and asked if I wanted him to take another. In the end, I was very happy with the results and can't wait to get my first passport! I had to wait a few minutes to check out with the cashier as there were a couple people ahead of me. I didn't catch her name but she was very friendly and sweet, asking me about where I planned to travel to, as we completed the payment. Thankfully they were able to use my debit card to create a money order right there as I don't even own a check book anymore and didn't realize that I couldn't use a credit card for payment. All in all, I highly recommend this spot for all your passport needs! read more

For the USPS this is one of the best and biggest Post Offices. You can come here any time of the day or night and mail a package if you're already boxed it up and have the mailing information on the package. They have a machine that you can weigh your packages and affix postage and then drop it in the outgoing mail bin. I come here to mail packages after the normal business hours. They're open until 6:00 PM on weeknights and open until 4:00 PM on Saturdays. Lots of parking spaces and a nice clean facility. People are nice and friendly and very helpful. read more
