I moved my office in downtown Riverside 8 months ago. I did a change of address online 10 days prior to moving. Since them I do not always get my mail. I have to retrieve it from my old office from time to time or it is brought to me, for lack of a sticker. I have done formal complaints online; calls with the USPS local supervisors and gone in person. Despite that and updating my change as recently as 6 weeks ago to extend my time for forwarding to May 2027, I got no mail for the period of June 11 through 21. If you call the USPS 800 number you will hang out for over 1/2 hour and give up. I am not going to fill out another 10 page complaint form; did that 3 times. So no matter what you do to fix their problem, it is not going to happen. I did get one piece of mail in the last 2 weeks; another piece brought over by the receptionist from my old location. At one point at the end of March I got the building owner's 8 pieces of mail with just her name and address on her envelopes put into my mailbox. How does that even happen. read more

This place is nice and convenient, in the heart of DTR. My coworker needed to go, so we actually walked there, from work. It looks like a train station, as you enter and we were both tickled by that. She took care of her business, as I scoped out the place, to get a couple pictures. Glad to know it's there, in case I ever need to go, during work hours. read more

USPS said they would make the adjustments so I can come pick up my package on the next business day.. whelp they decided to ship my package back to the sender all the way in Europe and said there's nothing they could be done about it. If you want your packages to ever make it to their destination, you should try to do FedEx or UPS. read more

There's only a pass (5 stars) or a fail (1 stars) when it comes to dealing with post office transactions, IMO. SERVICE Luckily for me, I've always had stellar service when coming to this location. I suppose when you approach the counter with a friendly attitude and positive greeting, the response is reciprocated. WAIT TIME I've always come in during business hours on the weekdays to ship out letters and boxes, whether for business or personal use. The wait time during the week is less than 10 minutes so it has always been good for me. PARKING This post office is located on the corner of 9th and Orange. My preferred parking spot is in front of Orange St, which runs on a one-way street. There are 3 parking spots on this street for the post office. Other parking can be found on 9th Street. DROP-OFF They conveniently have a couple drop off boxes on Orange St if you have stamped letters you want mailed. INTERIOR The interior is a little dark for my preference but it does have that antique look inside. PASSPORT They have passport services available here. I haven't had to do any passport transactions so I can't comment on that. Overall, I've never had any issues and will continue to use USPS whenever needed. read more

I try not to come to this location due to the surrounding parking fees, but since it was nearby and claimed to process passports, my partner and I went. However, the associates were nothing but rude about it. There were 2 customers at the counter, others were around getting supplies and what not. So we were first in line and one lady behind the counter just automatically called out and said, "We aren't doing passports today. No passports." I guess she noticed our paperwork in hand. I went in recently to turn in my passport application. The facility is nice, one has to love an old post office vibe. It's huge with many service windows, I just don't know how many windows are open daily on a regular basis. My review is only of my experience while the main post office was still closed, as one can make a passport appointment beginning at 9am, the main post office opens at 10am. The service I received was good. The postal worker that worked with me was efficient, not the friendliest but I suppose efficiency should be more highly rated, and in this case was. She took time in taking my passport photo, did a few shots to make sure she got the best one. Saying... "I'd have to live with it for 10 years". lol I do very much, appreciate the time she took with me to get my 'best shot'. I like the location of this post office. It's conveniently located in Downtown Riverside. You can knock off a few birds with one stone on a trip here, coffee, breakfast, lunch, an early dinner, art viewing, a library visit, etc... much to do in Downtown Riverside. Staff here are extremely rude. I came in on Saturday to pick up a package. I didn't not realize that Saturday was only open for people applying passports. My mistake. So I come in today to pick up my package...same rude older man "Chris" tells me again I can't pick up my package cause it is not 10 a.m. I show him the notice they left me that says I can pick it up anytime between 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. He just repeated "10 o'clock" three times in a row. I forgot to tape my box and she said the only way for me to get it taped was buying their tape. When I asked if she knew of anywhere that taped for free, she said no. Consistently horrible, I am disgusted that I am stuck with this office as my neighborhood postal service. The mailman who delivers my packages always conveniently loses them. They'll scan them but not leave them. I have it on camera, no one leaves the packages and because they're being scanned in I get the short end of the stick and am out money. This post office never fails to disappoint! The line is consistently 9 people deep. They only open 2 windows and they use 1 of those 2 windows to issue passports and other specialty services. Arrived at opening without an appointment to get my passport and the kind lady working at the passport window informed me if I came back at noon that I could be helped. Which was great considering I didn't have an appointment and no one ever answers the 800 number to make an appointment. I came back at noon and was helped in a timely manner. I was wearing spaghetti straps which apparently wasn't appropriate for the passport picture and instead of me having to reschedule my appointment the passport worker allowed me to wear her sweater for the picture. Great customer service and I was in and out in under 9 minutes. You do have to pay for parking however it's only $1 per hour. read more

Made appt for passport service on a Saturday. Still had to wait another 45mins-1hr to get seen. There are a mixed of people with and without appts. Line is confusing. There's no organization and they seem to just help people on a first come first serve basis. It feels like the appt is only to reserve a spot and to ensure that you're seen in case they start turning people away. Otherwise, you need to wait until you're called or wait in line. They need to step up the service, work more efficiently (add more workers?) and be more organized. read more

I have spent a lot of time in post offices these last few months buying stamps, renting and checking my PO box, picking up packages and certified mail, hand cancelling my wedding invitations, etc. I had the absolute worst experience here. I had one simple invitation to hand cancel. This has never been a problem at any of the post offices I've been to (in Downtown LA, the clerk gave me her stamp and let me hand cancel 90 invitations, in Anaheim the clerk personally hand canceled one piece of mail for me and congratulated me). The gentlemen behind the counter at this post office in Riverside said he couldn't hand cancel for me unless I paid $1.30 to send the parcel as certified mail. I was peeved but it was 90 degrees in Riverside that day and I wanted to get back to OC, so I forked over the $1.30. I asked him if this was county or post office specific since I had no problems with this in the past and then he proceeded to berate me for going to the other post offices that aren't following the correct procedures that are making the postal system look bad, yada yada yada. Jeez, I just wanted to process my mail and get out of there. Not so fast. Another girl had been dealing with him before me and was asking for a refund. She came back up to this gentleman's counter and he then proceeded to help her (and berate her) without finishing up what he was doing with me or even excusing himself to help her. She asked for a refund and he was telling her he wasn't going to overpay her and he wanted her to tell him the exact amount he owed her (something about he only wanted to pay her $13 but she wanted $16), he finally called a manager over who said "pay her the $16. While he was fumbling to get that done, he finally processed my one piece of mail and then stuck it in my face (literally held it to my face) and said "SEE? THERE. HAND CANCELED." Rude. read more

One would think that the central downtown post office on Orange St. would be open at least by 9 a.m.to serve the many downtown area businesses and then we have the USPS at Sunnyside Dr. that actually closes down for an entire hour for lunch and the employees get real surly if you cause them to lose one minute of their precious time. I got there a little before 8 (the time they are supposed to open) and had to wait for them to open (they opened a little past 8) and was out of there before the people who made appointments. I give this postal office 5 stars because of my experience applying for my passport. Now for other department like mailing something or getting a P.O. Box I am not sure. But before getting there I was super nervous that it would be more complicated than I thought. NO, it wasn't! I had the pleasure of having Nancy helping me, and when I say she was outstanding she was incredible. Great customer service and so helpful. Didn't complain or give attitude, and when she asked if we needed our pictures taken she was so nice about it. She had an answer for all and any of our questions we asked. It's no wonder USPS is going belly up. The ladies that work the counter here are very nice and helpful. The problem is the back room workers and delivery people, most notably the ones that fill in for the regulars, although the one that works my area is no prize. I once followed a trail of mail strewn the length of my street, dropped by the temporary carrier that looked like an extra from "American Me." And then there was the carrier who accused me of breeding mosquitoes with the intent of attacking him. Delivery got so bad that I had to get a postal mail box elsewhere. This was the worse passport application site of my life! The lady that attended me was extremely rude, hushing my daughter for talking, and she failed to submit her passport application correctly!! She forgot to submit her previous passport along with the application, which caused a delay in the process, hence me paying the expedited fee and other correspondences directly to the passport center, so that we can make it to our trip. I don't understand how hard it is to deliver a package. Get it together! They were supposed to deliver my package on Friday, THEY DIDN'T KNOCK ON THE DOOR FOR ME TO SIGN IT!!! Fine. I rescheduled my delivery for Tuesday November 24th, 2015. The regular mail came, but no sign of the mail man knocking on my door to let me sign. So I blew up their phone wanting to question them about where my package was, and why it was so difficult for them to deliver it to me. The man over the phone told me that he would get his supervisor to call me back. I waited an hour, no call back!! TODAY, November 25th on a Wednesday, I just called them again wanting to know if my package would be delivered. The tracking number hadn't been updated since the day I had rescheduled the delivery, so I knew something was wrong, but I didn't know what. The lady over the phone told me that the package was lost, and that they would call me back once it was found. I am annoyed beyond belief! How can you lose a package?
