The carrier tried to deliver then dropped a form. I went to this office personally to say redeliver. Strangely they took me in back to show me the package. They said it won't fit in the truck. Which was not true as it already had been in the truck. It was clear they wanted me to take it. I am injured and unable to do that. Then they made up two or three more confusing untrue stories.i said.ok let's send it back No. More stories. On and on. "Vxxxxxxa", the USPS employee that "helped" us, was insisting the package being sent to Indonesia must be in English. She said it was a new regulation. Let that sink in. It could have been a matter of translation since the employee's first language is not English... Perhaps she meant, the address must be made out using the alphabet. That couldn't have been the case because the address was written out using the alphabet. Quickly growing tired with reasoning with her, we decided to go to the USPS station in Noe Valley. This post office is the BEST! I live in Cole Valley and schlep everything here because it's usually quieter, I can get my Safeway/Walgreen shopping done, and the people are generally friendlier. Very convenient, nice parking lot instead of circling around and you can even pop to Bank of America if you need some cash! read more

This is specifically a review of the Vacation Mail Hold Service. I am generally very happy with the folks at this post office. My vacation mail was lost. 3 weeks worth. I filed a complaint and was told I didn't receive any mail during these three weeks over the December/January 2012 holidays. The world apparently conspired during these three weeks to not send me payslips, bank statements, holiday cards, junk mail. I have used this service before with no problems, but will never use it again. read more

This post office sells a range of boxes and I wanted to buy one to ship a package. But they don't have a tape-gun that you can use to tape your box - you must buy a roll to tape one box. Not sure if this is the case at all post-offices or just this one It always feels like a multi- trip job to get anything done at USPS. Please design your services with the user in mind. Or at least look at the competition - I have never been told to buy a roll of tape at the UPS store. read more

I need to get a Post Office Box for my business. Easy, right? Well, not exactly. Trying to be expedient, I purchase a 12 month term via the USPS website, pre-pay, print out the requisite form and head over to the Diamond Heights Station post office with my two forms of photo ID. After waiting in line for about 10 minutes (nothing unusual here -- it's a city PO), I approach the counter. The woman sees my documentation and immediately says "PO box? No. You wait for him...", pointing to her colleague. That's fine, she was mostly unintelligible with a strong accent. The gentleman finishes up with his current customer and I present all the paperwork and ID's. No problem thus far. Then, he tells me I'll probably have to come back another time because his supervisor "deals with this stuff"... How hard could this be? I've paid, have a box assignment, and just need the keys. Well, apparently, the problem lies with the keys. He said something about the fact most of the vacant boxes have keys that don't work, because they need to be re-keyed. OK. Sure enough, he retrieves the very new looking keys and reports a few minutes later that no, these keys don't work. Looking for options, I ask if I can just get a PO box that works. Nope - the assignment is not anything he can change, because I did it online. Can I get a refund? Nope. Can I cancel the transaction? Nope. The suggestion? "Come back another time and speak with the supervisor." I asked "When will they be here?" He said: "Maybe tomorrow". Me: "So, I should come back randomly, and wait in line to find our they're not here?" Him: "Come back randomly." Me: "So, the supervisor. They have the ability to re-key?" Him: "No" Me: "This makes no sense." ---- Applying for a refund online right now ---- This is why I use FedEx. Unfortunately, I need a PO box! read more

Please be VERY careful with this branch. Unfortunately, I have no choice as they are assigned to my area. Here's the deal. I've lived in SF for almost (5) years. In that time: 1) 4 pay checks from clients have never arrived. 2) 1 credit card never arrived & was activated. 3) 1 gift I mailed to someone was opened, cleaned out, boxed back up & mailed. Many other things have happened but these are the most notable. There is something very wrong with this branch. I agree with the others. There needs to be an investigation seriously! Be prepared to keep your cool there. It's a poorly operated USPS Office. You'll walk out with a renewed appreciation for alternate methods of shipping or receiving mail and other items. The staff there is poorly motivated, lackluster, tired and unwilling to assist. The biggest issue arises from a simple inability to coordinate between their postal drivers and the office. Notices of delivery never detail exactly where an item's been left (at the association's office or at the post office). Forget about calling the Diamond Heights Post Office. Not only is thier number incorrect within the USPS' "Assistance Center" at 800 ASK-USPS, but if you happen to call the Diamond Heights PO directly at 643-34890, no one ever answers. It's just pathetic. I can and do support abolishing the USPS. Frankly, I'd just assume the USPS be put out of its pathetic misery. Give the business of responsible delivery to someone else like FedX. read more

Like every other USPS this location is staffed by unhelpful zombies. My package has been 'out for delivery' for three days now and no one can provide any help. The supervisor refuses to answer the phone and the tracking number hasn't been updated. I'm not a big fan of privatizing the government, but USPS employees are completely unaccountable and I've never had worse mail delivery than while living in San Francisco, regardless of the neighborhood. This is one of the better Post Offices in San Francisco. (This isn't my home post office, that's the 94132 one.) I'm in here almost daily because I get mail via a PO Box here. The people here are friendly and are willing to help you out if needed. No post office in San Francisco is perfect, but like I said before, this is one of the better ones. Pros: - Plenty of parking. - Safe environment (lots of police snacking at the nearby cafe/doughnut shop and the bank, a few doors down, has their own private security guard hanging out outside). - Friendly workers. (You'll get to know them and they'll get to know you, if you're in there on a daily basis). -They deliver the mail to the PO Boxes in a predictable time range. -Whenever you get a PO Box here, they offer a free service that automatically e-mails you when you have mail and they also give you a second "non PO Box" address for your PO Box (for people and businesses that refuse to send packages/mail to a "PO Box address"). -The place is cleaner and nicer looking then most other SF Post Offices. -It's right beside a Walgreens and a Safeway (as well as many other small shops and banks). So I can get some shopping done after I collect my mail. -Generally there's not much of a wait (1 to 2 people tops), if any wait at all. The only exceptions being the hour or so before they close and the holidays (don't even get me started on the holidays *sigh*). -I also think the surrounding Diamond Heights neighborhood is beautiful and the air is usually fresher due to the sometimes windiness of the area. Cons: - One of the female Chinese postal workers needs a little help understanding complex concepts in English, but given enough explanation, will understand what you're talking about. It just takes a little time... -Make sure all packages get a tracking number (both coming from and going to this post office). Packages do have a way of "disappearing" here (just read other Yelp reviews) and there's nothing the employees can do about finding it. Personally, this has only happened to me once, and it wasn't really anything of any value (just some key chains and stickers). So I'm not sure if it went "lost" due to incompetence or theft, but I highly recommend what they told me, "Make sure you get tracking". -It's not located right off the parking lot, but it's kinda behind Walgreens instead. So if it's your first time, you might have a little difficulty finding the place. -Hard to reach by phone. Also, they now close at 5:00PM on weekdays. The doors will be locked if you show up later then that (it's happened to me too...). read more

This is one of the friendliest post offices I have been to. When I go to post offices, I don't expect customer service on par with that of The French Laundry. I expect reasonable people who provide prompt and friendly service -- and that is what I have consistently found here over the years. Lines can get long during the holidays, but that's understandable. Recent anecdote: needed an envelope to be weighed and inadvertently sealed it before putting in all of the contents -- yeah, one of those days. To my pleasant surprise, the person behind the counter quickly found a letter opener and offered to tape up the envelope after I had put in the wayward contents. Special kudos to the staff for being great multi-taskers -- there are lots of crazy customers with crazy requests (like mine!), and they always strive to help as best as possible. read more

The experience at this post office has really improved this year. New staff, additional staff, better stocked. In previous years, the long lines were due to understaffing and some inefficiencies. It's no wonder so many people choose this one. Free parking and Safeway, Walgreens, BOFA all in the same plaza. read more

My back ground check from the FBI was to be delivered yesterday. [Need it for international travel]. I signed up for text notification by using the tracking number. This morning I was notified by text the package had been returned to sender due to 'addressee unknown'. I get my mail delivered to a PO Box because for the ten years I have lived here at this address more mail has been lost than I could stand. At least at the Castro post office no mail goes missing. After a call to Art, the supervisor at Diamond Heights, he told me he would look for the package and call me back in 10-15. 30 min later I call back and am told Art is on a call for the next two hours. So Kim tries to help me. She says she will call me back. An hour later I call again and she says she will call me back as soon as she knows something. 90 min later I call again and she still is not able to let me know if the package is still in the facility. Says she will call me back after she talks to the carrier's supervisor. About 45 min later Kim calls back and the carrier asks to talk with me. The carrier asks if I live at that address full time. I say yes, he says he doesn't deliver mail to me at that address so he thought it was a wrong address. When asked he said he did not attempt to knock on the door because he was unfamiliar with my last name. I started asking him why he didnt do his, job, why he would make such and assumption without even knocking on the door. He hung up on me after a few minutes. I then called back.. no answer no answer no answer no answer no answer. I call back again and get a shift supervisor who does try and help. He takes the information, does call me back as he said he would, does make an effort at understanding, asks why I had it delivered to my home address and not the PO BOX [FBI rules]. Then, get this... as I ask how can I ensure the package will be delivered next time, this shift supervisor suggests I use UPS or FEDEX. Really. Honestly. As God is my Witness, he suggested I go with a different carrier. It must be nice to have a job where you so many people can be incompetent and yet get a decent income, good benefits, and a good retirement. They should be ashamed. read more

The Post Office is fine, like any other. But anyone coming to this shopping center needs to be aware that car break-ins happen frequently. My car has had the rear window smashed twice in as many years, and the folks at the Safeway next door say I was not the only one hit today. The shopping center has little to no security, and not many cameras, so it's a perfect place for thieves to target. (Not the Post Office's fault, but the property manager's.) The safest places to park are usually right in front of Safeway, but they are usually full. read more

I don't know what the policy of UPS is, but it makes no difference. Grow up and buy a roll of tape. I have been to this office numerous times since I started my online business account. No matter if its 10 minutes before closing, they are always gracious and helpful, even when its an international package. This is unusual service for a US post office and very different from the NV post office, which I can't stand. Thanks for making the whole mailing process not such a painful, torturous experience. park in the lot. this is my post office. lol. the people here are nice and helpful and knowledgeable. sadly, other customers aren't very quick on the draw. they tend to slow the lines with questions and ideas and loneliness that are brought by people who are happy to speak to another human being(um, okay, older people, my dad does that here too) I mean hurry up dad, lets go! lol. I don't usually see a long line so i'm very lucky that i come here when i do..i must be lucky. my job has me mail LOTS of things...so i'm constantly here. The Diamond Hts. post office is staffed by cheerful people who care about their customers. We've been going there for over 15 years.They've had some tough times because of the construction. But throughout it all the staff has been on top of things! The stamp selection is great too! read more

1 star for not doing anything and being lazy. Before I even went here I called 3 times and no one answered the phone. When I finally got to the post office there were 2 ppl working and no customers to tend to. I went up to them because I needed to send in my passport application and they told me I need an appointment and told me to go to the post office at Evans st...okay I get that I have no appointment but why do I have to go there when they aren't doing anything right now..might as well help send in my application. I have been calling this post office for several days trying to track a package that has gone missing. They kept telling me that they would call me back when they had information about the package, but they never did. When I called back for an update, I insisted that they give me the number of the main USPS office in SF. Then, they gave me a fake number that had been disconnected, and thy never got back to me. read more

The best place to get your passport , have your app and photos ready and you will happily be in and out in 10 minutes. Unlike, the ungodly rude clerk at the passport window at 1849 Geary...her lack of customer value attitude and no smile...will make one vow never go there again. Diamond Heights yes! read more

I am giving this post office two stars, one for merely existing and the other for its location near a large parking lot, a Safeway, a Walgreens, and take-out dim sum. Inevitably, whatever size Priority Mail box I need is missing, and no one who works there gives a crap. This location also attracts a lot of, well, let's just say colorful individuals who feel the need to argue with the postal workers about something (and of course the postal workers fully engage while the rest of us stand in line rolling our eyes. Others like to tell the postal workers their life stories (kinda have to feel for the postal peeps on this one). Often a customer reeks of pot (which, unfortunately, does not mellow out the people working there). Customer service seems to range from perfunctory to surly. If you go near closing time, expect the door to be locked in your face a couple of minutes early and for the worker to claim that the truck have already left with the last mail pick-up even though you will see said truck on the far side of the Safeway as you are driving out the side exit. read more

It is impossible to get the supervisor or anyone on the phone. The USPS had to return my call from their Georgia offices to get my complaint to this SF post office. pathetic read more

Just spent over an hour trying to track down information on missing mail. Most of that time spent with ringing unanswered phones. Or being transferred to another operator so I could wait in a queue again and then finding out that was the wrong person too. Need to fire most of the postal staff and hire competent employees. read more
