Worst post office ever. I moved into my apartment and needed a key for my mailbox. They said it would take 2 weeks. I come back in 3 weeks and they DIDNT EVEN HAVE RECORD THAT I ORDERED IT. Then we re-order it and come back in one month. My roommate goes to pick up the key and someone told him that the lady who makes the keys, is on maternity leave... WHAT! You dont have ANYONE else?! For passport application: I came on a Monday, 11/25/19, at around 8:30am. They open at 9am. There was a very short line of about 3 people at that time. There was no 6am sign up sheet like the other reviews said. So if you get there around 8 or 8:30am on a weekday, you'll be fine. went in to get our passports. No reservations first come first serve. Went in at 9:30 amd had 6 people ahrad of is, decided to go back after lunch and was 2nd in line however she ended up taking people who were their in the morning and moved them to the front of the line so we got bummed to the back. She was only taking 25 people, luckily we made it! The other post offices uou can make an appointment online-something we didnt know. If you have time & willing to wait the process is quick. Just be prepared with all the forms & copies. They also do photos but it is much faster if you have it done ahead. Also bring a check-no credit cards. Man, I don't even know where to start about this place. It's been such a mess. I moved into my new apartment about two weeks ago, and was told that the Post Office requires that I go, in person, to pick up my key to my lockbox on-site at my apartment complex. Which wouldn't be a problem. Except that the post office is open weekdays from 9am-5pm, and I work an hour away from this neighborhood from 8am-5pm. I call the post office to see what accommodations could be made. None. I'm working every other weekend out of town, so Saturday isn't an option either. After days of conversations, I FINALLY get a manager to agree to accept a faxed copy of my lease, so that I only have to make one trip into the post office to pick up a key. So TWO WEEKS after the day I move in, I finally am in town on a Saturday so that I can go in and get my key... and I had to speak to three people until someone knew what I was talking about. The employee I spoke with first, in particular, was rude and dismissive and told me that they NEVER accept leases via fax, that my lockbox hadn't been rekeyed, and that I'd have to do paperwork that day and come back for the key in a few days (which would be two more weeks since I work so much). It took me speaking to a manager and having them dig to find out that they had made an exception and that the key was waiting for me. I almost lost my cool speaking to people here and I NEVER do that. Bottom line: Policies made it really hard to get my mail, systems are incredibly clunky, and employees aren't communicating to each other well. Two stars instead of one because the manager actually DID accept my fax and DID facilitate the key retrieval, but in the meantime, two weeks passed, bills were late, and late fees were accrued because it took half a month to get my mail service restored. read more

The nearest post office to me and I have no complaints. Always quick & helpful. Sometimes the employees can be a bit cold but overall I've had good encounters. Talked to Cindy today, very kind and friendly. I used the outside mailbox to drop off mail on 9/7/20 (something I often do after hours or on holidays) but this time my mail piece never started tracking......(almost like I had never dropped it off)...... I was told to be patient and waited about 8 days with no updates other than "shipping label created"....... i returned to the mailbox to check for signs of theft/vandalism and using my phones flashlight i could see that there was a small basket filled with mail inside so I thought, maybe they're really behind.......I opened a case online, received a response saying that it would be investigated (not sure how with so little information) but okay...... and never heard back. I happened to be inside the post office today 9/17 because now I bring my mail to the counter so that it can be checked in immediately and someone approaches the counter complaining about the same issue using the same mailbox (their mail never started tracking)....... the agent at the counter mentioned that it's likely mail theft so at this point I'm hoping that they make that specific mailbox inaccessible so that others don't lose their mail moving forward......FYI I used the 2nd mailbox (furthest from the drive in entrance). Passport Renewal: I always thought the only way to get my passport fast was to stand in line at 3am at Eastridge USPS. Thanks to Yelp, I saved so much time, and I am so grateful for this passport office. Came at 6:15am, the list didn't come out until 6:30am. Signed my name first on the 1:00pm list and came back before 1. Being first was great because I didn't have to wait depending on the preparedness of others and whatnot. I was literally out in 5 minutes. Get your photos at Costco for $5 (for 4 photos!) which is 4 minutes down Almaden. I had my checkbook in case and made my check out to the Department of State. I believe this is the preferred method. The other payment was made with my debit card. Only one passport photo was needed. Service was efficient and good enough for me. Again the 9:00am list serves 20 people and 1:00pm serves 10. With expedited, I received my passport in only 9 days!! Don't wait and pay expedited though if you don't need to! Go here asap. read more

This is my favorite post office in San Jose... period! The staff here make every visit very easy, fast and a friendly experience. I am a small business owner, so I am always making regular stops at the post office. This place is always stocked with cool decorative packaging and greeting cards too. Most of all, I love the affordable rates to ship packages. I've used other parcel services which have resulted in expensive shipping costs, lost packages (twice now) or they can't track my shipment. With the good old delivery confirmation from the post office, I've never had a problem tracking my deliveries. Sometimes if I arrive too late to get service at the counter, the convenience of getting postage on packages (not just letter size envelopes) at the machine in the lobby is awesome. This location has ample parking and an easy drive thru drop off service too. read more

This review is for the Indian female worker (w/ classes; around 50 yr old). I brought my own tape to the store but she thought I needed to pay for it without confirming with me first. And the most ridiculous part is I was being helped by another staff while she's serving another customer! When she saw me going to her coworker, she immediately told him that I needed to pay for the tape on top of the shipping cost. I got very offended so told her to 'mind her own business' and guess what, she shamelessly said "I was treating you as a customer" wow! I replied back "No. you were treating me like a theft. Had my passport done here. Great service by Harvinder! Helped me avoid the crazy crowd at Eastridge mall post office. Got there at 8:45am and was able to put my name to be the 1st on the list at 1pm. Left to do some shopping and errands and came back at 12:45pm. They opened up at a little after 1pm and I was out of there 5 or so minutes after with my paperwork processed. I couldn't ask for a better experience. Tips: Harvinder says they have the janitor that's there around 5:30 - 6:30am where you can put your name on the list for when they open at 9am. If you're on a time crunch that would be the smartest thing to do if you absolutely have to get your passport done that day. They only process 20 applications from 9 - 12pm and 10 applications from 1 - 3pm. $110 check made out to the Dept of State for adults. $25 check (made out to the Postmaster), cash, or credit for the processing fee. Fees increase to $35 in April, I think. read more

**Passport Services Review** If you're like me, you hate the idea of waiting in line all day just to apply for a passport. After doing some research on Yelp, I finally decided to tough it out and go to this location to apply for my passport considering the past reviews were so positive compared to the other locations in San Jose. I made it a point to get my photo taken earlier (even though they can take your photo here too) at cvs just to make the entire process go faster on the day of. Another piece of advice I took from other yelpers was to come at 6:30am to sign my name on a clipboard to make sure I'm at the front of the line when they open at 9am. This worked like a charm because I signed in, left to grab breakfast nearby, and returned with about 10 minutes till opening. I was in and out of the office with my little sister in less than 10 minutes! Not only was it quick and easy, but the sweet lady working there made the process very pleasant and was so friendly. For absolutely ANYONE wanting to apply or renew their passports, this is without a doubt the best location to go to for passport services when you need to drop in. read more

After much research, I decided to make the drive and avoid the Eastridge passport center for this place instead. Came on a Wednesday at exactly 9AM when they opened, and I got the 7th spot on the list. The only passport lady working, Harvinder, was very kind, efficient, and made the whole experience much more bearable. There is only 20 slots for the 9AM-12PM shift, while the 1PM-3PM one has 10. I took about... 5 minutes because I was prepared with my documents and was out of there by 9:30AM!! She is very efficient, and remember to have a check for the Department of State $110 and there is also a processing fee of $25 that you can pay by card. Overall, I had a great experience and am glad I made it out here because it saved me so much time! read more

The Robertsville station post office is the one my house is assigned to, but I would go there even if I didn't have to. I have been there to pick up packages, buy stamps, and send special mail. Sure, sometimes it is crazy busy, but the employees have always been professional, courteous, & helpful. Review and Tips for PASSPORTS at this location. Overall, an okay experience. Though there's not much information about the process to be found anywhere. Sign ups (list) starts at 6am. Yes, that early. That's when cleaning staff opens the Passport doors for a very brief time so that you can sign up on this list. Minute or so after (when everyone present is done signing), the doors are closed with the sign up sheet clipboard inside of this office (locked). Those who signed up are the first to be called right at 9am when the Passport Office is open. So if you're not able to sign this list at 6am which I'm sure most of you aren't willing to do, you are left with the regular line for the Passport Office. Right at 9am, those on the list are called out first and were moved to the very front of the physical line (in the order of the list). Those who were waiting in the physical line (that had not signed the list) are now added to the list. The order for the day works like that. Note: On the same list clipboard, you are able to sign up for the 1pm slot. Those usually don't fill up as fast. For the 1pm folks, the process works the same as for the morning 9am one. It took a lot to get in the door, but once there it was quick and easy. The person working the office was quite nice. The demand for in-person passport applications is high. My first attempt was unsuccessful: I first showed up at 9:30 am after office had opened at 9 am. I learned there was a sign up list and it was already. Here's what I know now. People show up to wait in line starting at 5-5:30 am. Someone comes out at around 6:30 am with a list and takes down peoples names. If you get your name on the list, you can return home and come back at 9am. When the office opens at 9am, they circulate the waiting list again. You can either sign up for the 9-12 slot or the 1-3 slot. Today, the list for the entire day was completely filled by people who were in line before 9 am. So, come early and plan to wait. Here are some other factoids: There is only 1 worker in the office. She can process 30 applications a day. Please don't block the path of other post office patrons while you wait. It's annoying. I brought my own chair. Be prepared to wait. Be patient. Have ALL your paperwork in order. Photos, the right form, copies of stuff, the right payment options. read more

PASSPORT OFFICE Review Only This is in regards to my experience on 3/31/17. I hope this helps you navigate the process. We needed to get my sister's passport. My mom got to Eastridge at 6 am in the morning but the line was already too long & came back without making the cut. So, I told her we'll try this location based on previous reviews. We arrived at around 11 am hoping to get on the afternoon list. A few things to note: 1) If you want to ask the passport lady a question, try it when people are in transition: people exiting the small office & a new name is called...This time affords a small window to ask your quick question & minimize your interruption. I tried to obtain information twice but the 2nd time, I used the opportunity when another person was in there asking a question and was told people needed their privacy. No big deal: I apologized and left the office promptly & went back to waiting. They key is to be respectful of others and not be overly annoying. However, since there's only 1 person working, sometimes, you just got to try and find out accurate information to get your stuff done. 2) You are NOT guaranteed to be seen if you're not there at 3, 4, or 5 am in the morning to put your name on the list. The lady is very efficient & will do her best to process as many people as possible. That's why I took my chance. I waited until 2:30 pm to be seen (that's a 3.5-hour wait, guys). So, do plan according. Take notes of how many are in front of you - the people that have their names on the list. Observe how long it takes for each person to be processed. Some folks, especially families, will take awhile. 3) I didn't get my name on the afternoon list since that list was also full. Like I said, I took my chance anyway & never left the premises even during the hour-long lunch time from 12-1 pm. This way, I can be the first person on the "no-list" walk-in. There were about 5-6 people after me who showed up later hoping to get seen. 4) Chat with people in line to get their experiences & see what your chances are. Also, try to be helpful when others show up & are clueless on what to do. Sometimes, you can be the person that helps make this process less 'painful' for everyone. Be nice & have lots of patience. 5) Make sure you get all of your requirements together: application (don't sign it if you're an adult; you sign it in front of the lady), photos, a check for the Dept of State $110 for me, your citizenship / birth certificate. read more

PASSPORT REVIEW I went there today because I knew Eastridge always looks so impossible because the endless lines. After I saw the recent reviews. I decided to give it a chance. (Since there was ONE really bad review.) I came here at about 10:15am. I saw so many people I thought the sign up was done and I had no chance. I was about to leave. However I decided to go in and ask her. So she told me she was full for the morning but I could wait around and see if she has time to process. I decided to just sign up for the 1pm-3pm sign up. I was #2. So it wasn't bad. Came back early to see what time they would open. So around 1:05pm she opened the door. (She was still on lunch). The person who was before me had all his paper work ready. So he left around 1:21pm. I had 2 passports. I had all my paperwork ready and documents. I got out at 1:36pm. It was a really good turn around. Because I saw reviews for other locations and people stand in line at 5am etc. Overall, I was happy to be done and it was good considering I didn't have to wait until tomorrow or keep coming back and be turned away. Note: the lady is not trying to be rude. If you start asking more than signing up. She is trying to process the application and move the line along. TIP: 1.)make sure you have paperwork filled out and documents ready. You can grab paperwork inside the post office. 2.) make sure you go inside and ask to sign up if you see a line outside. People are standing around outside since they already signed up. Someone might get your slot. That's what happened. 3.)MAXIMUM of 30 sign ups a day. read more

PASSPORT REVIEW: Thanks Isabella P for the tips! Here is how I think the passport process works at this location. It's walk in only and they take 30 people each day. After talking to the people in front of me it looks like the janitor leaves the list out to sign in as early as 3:30am. Apparently one guy had come in that early to write his name then left to go back to sleep and came back before opening at 9 am. The people closer to the bottom of the list were there at 7:30. I think the list then stops at 25 people and the clerk will work on the list till her lunch, noon. This gives her some leeway in case some people's processes take longer than others but then if she finishes up her list of 25 she can add more for the afternoon. I arrived at 11:30 hoping to get on the afternoon list. When she came out at 12 for lunch she checked her list and only had a couple people to work with from the AM list so she was willing to add more. I was added as well as 3 more new people waiting to get on the after lunch list. She left for lunch and when we all came back 3 people were there from the AM list then one person in front of me. I was seen at 2pm and done at 2:10. This was for my 3rd kid so I knew what I needed including copies of all the docs/ID's and my completed application printed from PDF online. Even though I was well prepared it took 10 min so now I understand why they only take 30 people per day given they are only opened for 5 hours (6 people per hour) Process was smooth and Marylou was nice and efficient. I think I got lucky because I don't think you are guaranteed a spot in the afternoon list since it depends on how quickly she can get through her AM list. I will definitely come back here next time if I need an expedited passport! I wrote a check for the Dept of State but CC accepted for processing fee and expedited postage. read more

Got there at 6am to put my name on the list. I was #6 in line, but I put my name down as #10. NOTE: You can only put your name down for 9am in the morning, can't reserve for 1pm. Passport service opened at 9:30am today. Previous reviews said it takes average 15 min for each #, so I sent my mom to check for me at 10:30am. At 10:30am, #4 was still in the office. #5 went in at 11am, and #6 went in at 11:10am. So it's very unpredictable how much time each person is taking. #7,8,9 didn't show. I was #10 and I was processed at 11:45pm. Lady named Marylou was very nice and helpful. I was done in 10 minutes or so. I brought the wrong passport photo, Marylou was able to take passport photo for me for $15. Expedited passport costs $185 (check). Round trip expedite mailing costs $48 and photo costs $15. **PASSPORT RENEWAL** at first i was hesitant to come here because i've seen on other reviews that people come here at around 6:00-6:30AM just to put their name on the list. however, i took a chance & walked in on a Tuesday morning at 9:30AM. i was in line for exactly an hour, not bad. the lady in the passport office works alone, but she is very quick & goes through the line fast! to make the process go by so much quicker, bring: -a completed DS-11 form -a copy of your ID/drivers license (front & back) -proof of citizenship (i brought my old passport) -a photo (went to Walgreens prior) **THEY DO NOT TAKE DEBIT/CREDIT CARD FOR PASSPORT PAYMENTS** you must have a check or money order. before you hop in line for passports, go to the post office side & get your money order ready. i'm unsure if the passport lady is able to provide that service for you if you forget. good luck :) read more

The Robertsville Post Office in South San Jose is the worst. So far I have had to put 13 stop payments on bills I have mailed from there. I mailed my taxes from there and paid $12 to have them signed for, well you guessed it, they never reached the IRS in Fresno, Ca. To this day they are still circulating around the country, according to their website. They were guaranteed delivery and a signature but never made it there. I asked about a refund of my money and was told since they are still in route and there was nothing valuable, just paper, I am not entitled to a refund. I now drive to miles to mail my bills and cards. The only thing I can say is that the employees are very friendly and helpful when I used to deal with them. read more

This review is for the PASSPORT OFFICE inside the Robertsville Post Office on Branham Lane. Applicants are seen from 9am- 12 noon. Overflow from the morning is from 1-3pm. There is no fudging on these times, down to the minute. Checks only accepted. First, the office only takes up to 20 applicants per morning. There is only one employee. If you are not sitting in your lawn chair in line by 7 a.m. then don't bother showing up. At 8.30am, the employee comes out and writes each applicant name on a list (one person, one application). Good luck to you if the people in front of you haven't filled out their application or can not read or understand English. One applicant should only take 10 minutes. We waited for 3 hours and only 10 people were processed due to these delays. Unless you are in a CRITICAL spot, do not bother coming here. Go to the County-Clerk downtown. We'll never come back to the post-office lines again. read more

On past 3 previous occasions, I had been to Meridian USPS passport office and it was a torture over at Meridian USPS passport office. Compare that with Robertsville USPS Passport office, it is night and day. Robertsville Passport office is single handed run by Harvinder and she is doing a PRETTY GOOD job. I hope Harvinder's supervisor recognizes and appreciates her. You don't have to wait in line from 6am !!! You can actually get some other useful stuff done rather than waste time standing in line at other passport office early morning at 6. If possible, I would give 6 or more stars and $50 or more to show my sincere appreciation for running this passport office so well. (The adjacent USPS post-office, now that's a different story) read more

PASSPORT REVIEW ONLY: first of all, who knew getting a passport became so annoying?! The passport office opens up at 9am. However, a list was already started before 7am and the doors are locked. Huh?! I guess the cleaning lady opened up the doors early early in the morning and people who were there at like. 6am got a chance to write their name down on the list, go home and do whatever, and come back at 9. When the doors are open at 9, the people on the list are obviously first. People waiting in line sign their name on the list too and then there's the people who just wait in line after them. The average time per number is suppose to be 15 minutes (I'm assuming this is just for ONE person). If a family of four shows up for four passports, that may take up to 30 minutes. If you're really efficient and have all your papers filled out and everything you need, you can be in and out in 10 minutes. When the list is ready to be signed at 9, you can always opt to sign up for the 1:00 slot. However, if your name is NOT on the 1:00 list, there's pretty much no hope for you if you just show up in the afternoon. The process wasn't horrendous, but things weren't clear unless you experienced it in person either. Oh well, at least it's done. read more

I did a lot of research before coming to this office. The passport office opens at 9 am and I arrived at 0902 on a Wednesday and I was third in line. Forty five minutes later when I left, there were three more people in line. I know it is unpredictable to know how many people will come through the door to apply for a passport, but I was pleasantly surprised I was only third in line since I was thinking I was running late. A tip is that you should have a check book with you to write to US Dept of State and also a debit card. Also fill out the paperwork online so it can be processed faster. I just Googled passport documents- very easy to do! I had everything ready to apply for my child's passport and it was a breeze! Preet was also lovely and very nice. I'm surprised I had such a pleasant experience! Well worth the drive! read more

Went in on a Monday at 10.45am and one person working? Where are the others, gossiping, eating in the back, on their smartphones playing Candy Crush Saga! They have a number of items for sale like Postage Scale, Passport Wallet, but none of the items have any pricing? Do they expect people to just inquire? Waited around 10 minutes to get another agent for my 11am passport renewal, there is no bell, no separate line. They have a locked door outside to the right of the lobby where they do the processing, but nobody mans the desk. Took about 20 minutes even though we had all the forms filled out. They seriously need 3-4 agents out in the post office at all times, seriously ridiculous to have one on a Monday morning near 11am. Staff was friendly enough but it just took too long. I got super lucky today. I needed to renew my kids passports and I thought the line for passports wouldn't be too crazy on a Thursday at 10am. So my husband called first and there was only 3 people in Line. When we arrived, there was no line. Harvinder asked if I got on the sign in list at 6am and I was like no , I didn't know there was a list or anything, it's been years since I needed a passport renewed. She helped me anyway.
