**U.S. Passport Service** I went on a Thursday at 7:00am and there was no list and no one in line. When Harvinder opened the office at 9:00am, I was still the only individual there. She commented on how rare it is to have no one in line at opening, so it still may be a safe bet to show up early. Harvinder was very helpful given the number of documents, copies, fees, etc. She knows exactly what questions to ask and how to help in the event something is not correct. She is very different in a postive way than any other USPS Passport employee I have ever encountered. I would recommend not having payment ready until you get to the Passport Office day of. You can pay for the money order ($1.20) for the application fee ($110) through the Passport Office via Debit/Credit. There is also the $25 processing fee. If I ever have to return to the Passport Office, I hope Harvinder is there to help. read more

Very efficient post office that's close by. Filled out some forms, and I went back in line (which I later was told I did not need to, doh!) and was quickly out of the door! Great timing because the small parking lot (but parking lot in the back) was all filled up by the time I left! read more

Passport service: got to post office on Friday at 7:45am as advised by other yelpers. Turns out I was first in line... left and came back at 8:30am and I was 3rd in line.. their hours posted States it opens at 9:30am but they started taking us in at 9am... Passport Services at Robertsville PO, San Jose, California. Since they accept only 30 applicants per day for Passport services, if you get in there by their opening time, you will have a very short wait time. Before the counter opens, the staff in charge - Harvinder - makes it easy by providing important instructions and check your requirements while in line, so that if you have missed anything you don't have to wait until you get to the counter and then realize what is missing! Harvinder is very professional, thorough and very helpful to make applying for Passport a good experience. We are very glad that we chose this location to apply this time. read more

Not too please with the staffs here. They seemed very annoyed at the customers. Sorta yells a lot. I came to replace my mailbox key and called before I came. The lady did a poor job of assisting me. Turns out she didn't tell me the most important thing which was to find the correct post office. Had to go here to turn back around. What a waste of time! And the lady here really brushed me off when she found out that this post office didn't serve my address. Told me to go to the other place and ask questions there! That was a little rude. I almost went postal tonight. It was after hours and a huge line had queued up to use the automated postal center machine in the lobby. We all had piles of cards and packages to mail out in time for the holiday extravaganza. An older lady in front of me kept complaining about how there used to be a simple vending machine for purchasing stamps. "it was so easy and you were done in a second. No waiting in these horrible lines with everyone having to enter information about their packages." Ten minutes later, it's her turn. She goes up to the machine and, instead of buying a book of stamps, she actually weighs out, types in the zip code, prints the postage, pays individually and waits for each receipt -- for each of her 15 cards! Unbelievable! As far as the post office itself is concerned, it has extra parking on the side and is usually not too crowded. The staff are decent -- not necessarily cheery, but not overly rude, and the lines tend to move quickly. They hold regular hours, so if you need to send something later in the evening, you might want to go to Oakridge Mall. I would have done that if I knew ahead of time what that crazy lady was going to do. read more

I only had to use their self-serve package machine and didn't have to stand inline for anything (although at 2:45PM on a Monday, the line is pretty long) My biggest complain is the parking, the parking lot is pretty small, and if you found a spot, take it, or else you can't make U turn or back it up (the spacing is tight) to come back. Then you have to exit and turn right on LIzzie lane and Prosper and get back on Alamaden Expressway and Branham Ln to enter again. Very inconvenient, especially during the rush hour (when the near by school is out) So go straight to the additional parking lot during the rush hour. I probably will only use this location for after hour drop off, the USPS Hillsdale location is much better IMO. read more

Well Toto, we are definitely not in Kansas aka (Chicago) anymore... I was confused and yet somewhat surprised by the friendly staff that greeted me at the post office. They were helpful, polite and even smiled...it almost seemed like they like their jobs. Harvinder, who works in the passport office was beyond friendly, helpful and extremely accommodating when it came to getting my daughter's passport...my daughter is a minor, so there's a lot more that goes into it. I will certainly be back to this post office! And....It certainly helps that they are just up the street. :) read more

This posit office is lame. Something is always always broken. Parking sucks/ park at cvs and walk up. Drive to the hillsdale site. Cashiers mess up simple tasks like ordering stamps. I use the app now and I only go there when I need to drop off a package around 7 am before they open. read more

Passport office review only - My son's passport had to renewed in person so headed down on Thursday afternoon around 2 to gather info. Came back Friday at 11:45 (to get on the afternoon list) with completed application (did online), his current passport, birth certificate (certified original and photocopy), my original license, copy of my license (front and back), notarized form from my husband so he didn't have to be there and photocopy of his license (front and back). Was told afternoon list of 10 was full but come back in case of no-show or incorrect paperwork (happens a lot). Returned at 1p.m and was first on the no wait list for people that didn't show up at 5 am. Thought my chances were decent so I went and picked my son up from school. WE MADE IT IN AT 2:57. The clerk was so incredibly sweet and helpful that it made the whole escapade worthwhile!!! Yay!!!! read more

Need your passport? Here is your ticket to a great 5 - Star experience. Follow these directions and you will be ahead of everybody else. There are 20 spots for 9 AM and 10 spots for 1 PM. Have your paperwork, originals of birth certificates, photos, copies of originals - ready to go. The amazing lady at the desk does take photos ($10) and can make copies if need be. Get it done before if you want to save time. 1. Get here at 5:30 AM. 2. The custodian will bring out the sign up sheet out between 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM. Put each applicant's name on the list. For example, need four passports? Put four names on the list. 3. Go home or get something to eat. Be back by 8:45 AM. 4. The wonderful woman who runs the passport office will come out with the sign up sheet about 8:55 AM. She will then listen to the people who don't know what you know - whine and complain. Tough cookies people, do your research. 5. She will call roll and you line up in the order of what is on the sign up sheet. Everybody else, first come - first served. 6. Be prepared to wait. Wear comfortable shoes - that tile floor is brutal! Your welcome! read more

When we moved into the Avana Skyway apts I had gone here to set up the mail box. I was given an estimated time of a wk. I waited and called after 1.5wk and they never got the request?! I did another one and again lost. Finally a 3rd time it was done. On another occasion I had a notice to pick up a package. I barely got there for 5mins to spare before closing and they already locked the doors. I begged the guy (watching the door and letting the remaining customers out) to see if I could just have my package. I explained I didn't need any service that required the computers or register. So he obliged and gave me my package. For my 1st experience it would be a NEGATIVE star but this guy that helped me on the 2nd time its 2stars. read more

This post office has heartless employees. I may as well have been talking to a wall. I ordered my son a measuring large ruler for his nursery. I received it the day I went into labor. Unfortunately we received it damaged. I contacted the seller from Etsy who advised she has insured the item and gave me instructions on how to submit a claim. I went ahead and did that. A few days later I received a letter from the post office to bring the item (remind you this is a giant ruler) into the nearest post office along with the original packaging. Of course I no longer have the original packaging since it didn't say to keep it anywhere else and who Keeps that anyways. I proceeded to go in anyways to see what I can do. I get inside and am called up by the clerk who says since I don't have the original pkging I need to speak to a supervisor. I wait about 10 min with my now 3 week old who's fussing. He comes out and I may as well have been talking to the wall. He was a broken record repeating that he can't help me without the original pkg. now I'm stuck with a damaged item and out $50. I've messaged the seller but the post office could be more helpful. I feel like they sell insurance but it's a scam. No one keeps the original packaging so no one gets a refund if they damaged your item. Be aware. read more

Got passports renewed here. As instructed by others, went there at 5:45 AM signed in my place (5th) on the signup sheet. Came back at 9 AM, and within 30 minutes, finished the paperwork. The staff is not very friendly or anything but just do their job, without much fuss. Passport arrived in 2 weeks, promptly. The key to this Post office, is to avoid having any issues that might involve a lost package, a delay, or any other inconvenience. Because if you do... You will never find resolution or the satisfaction that you're looking for. All of the managers they have rotated through have edgy personalities, including the current one. They offer very little extra effort to help you on their part. This is assuming you can even reach them. Phone calls lead into a dead void, much like the Winchester mystery House's myriad of rooms leading to nowhere. God forbid you need to call an 800 number! There you will be either left alone on the phone for hours or worse, Disconnected immediately. If you do speak with the manager who currently works there-tall skinny bald gentleman, be prepared, he acts goofy but don't let it fool you, if you try and get him to really work and help you, he will be patronizing and rude and does very little in the form of extra help to satisfy your troubles. So, if you need to go there to mail a package or check your PO Box you're all set, but if you have any problems that need help-Better shelter in place. read more

Well, I've heard some bad things about USPS in general as compared to FedEx and UPS. But the prices are definitely affordable. I sent something from FedEx and it costed a ridiculous $24 (though I think the woman gipped me by making it expedited shipping without telling me). But USPS prices are less than $10. I was shipping things for roughly $5. Anyways, the reason I rate it as 5 stars is because I shipped the wrong textbook this morning for an Amazon.com customer. About an hour and a half later, I realized I shipped the wrong textbook, went back to the USPS, and was able to get my old book back and send off the correct one. The woman said that they were ready to pack much of the morning's packages onto the truck, so I was lucky I didn't come half an hour or it would have been gone lol. Anyways, the service is definitely worth it. If you're worried about USPS losing your stuff (as I've read stories online about), add on the extra insurance. The $45 textbook I sent was like $1.75 for insurance. read more

Beyond incompetent. I paid for priority shipping (2 day) to return a product that I bought to get a refund. A week and a half later and the package had not been delivered. I called the post office to get a grasp on the situation and gave the employee the tracking number(repeated several times). The employee continually insisted that it was not in their system. After realizing he entered the number wrong, he accused me of saying the number wrong and no apology was given. After finding that my package was still at this post office, he had no answers to what was going to happen. There was no notification that the package was not delivered. He was rude the entire time, not a single apology had been given despite it being extremely late. Complete waste of time. read more

A post office with banker's hours? Interesting. In the years I've been living on this side of town, I've only been able to make it there *once* when it was open. The workers were nice, but understaffed and the line was ridiculous. Also, I find that compared to the Blossom Hill post office and the one in Oakridge Mall (my favorite, by far), their supplies available after-hours are lacking. The only reason they get a star from me is because of the Automated Postal Center, which has always been functional whenever I've needed to use it. read more

***Review for passport service*** Summary: I was very impressed at the service provided and would certainly recommend this location for any passport needs. Details: Some friends recommended me to go to this location to apply for my passport, as this location does not need appointments and they mentioned there is a great lady at the counter. But they said it can take some hours, so I should be prepared. On the day, I reached the location just 15 minutes before the office passport service opens. But I was done in less than an hour. I also forgot to take some photocopies and Harvinder helped make the copies without any fuss. She knew her job and tries to make the process easier for the applicants. read more

This neighborhood PO is farther away than we had hoped, but we still prefer driving here than anywhere else because the service is great and efficient. There are usually long lines at lunch time & close to closing around 4.30-5pm. So get there during any other time for fast service. Love using their automated system for domestic post, but lining up for a someone to serve you is not an inconvenience. They have a much larger variety of greeting cards to select from vs. other PO's I've been to. Plus, while a lot of PO's had run out of my favorite design (King & Queen) stamps for our wedding invites - this place always came through for us! read more

Robertsville Passport Office (based on my experience on a Monday morning 8/7/17) 1. I recommend Robertsville Passport Office for two reasons: #1 the staff. #2 the reasonable wait time, if you know their system. 2. The Janitor is KIND, HELPFUL, INFORMATIVE, A TEAM PLAYER AND UNDERSTANDING. I wish I had asked his name or read his badge; but he is the sweet Asian gentleman with glasses. He provides the morning sign-up list, which allows you leave then come back. More details below. 3. Harvinder (the Passport Agent) was working on this Monday morning; and knows all the rules, requirements and expectations for passport applications. And she CARES about people. She is ACCEPTING, PATIENT, UNDERSTANDING, SUPPORTIVE, EXPERIENCED, EFFICIENT, POSITIVE, HAD APPROPRIATE AND REASONABLE EXPECTATIONS OF HER CUSTOMERS AND IS EXCELLENT IN HER JOB. Harvinder took the time to answer everybody's questions and had such a great attitude towards every single person. Her approach and demeanor was supportive and reassuring. She set the tone; and it was an encouraging one. 4. If the Supervisor of the kind Janitor and Harvinder is reading this review, give these two wonderful people a raise and a promotion. The passport application process is indeed stressful. It takes time, very careful reading and a lot of waiting. The kind Janitor and Harvinder executed above and beyond their job description. Their efforts improved my family's quality of life by saving us time. 5. The Passport Office hours are M-F 9 am-12 pm (closed from 12-1) and open again from 1-3 pm. However, the Box Lobby is open 24/7 so if you arrive super early to sign-up, you will be indoors. 6a. If you want the 9 am -12 pm time frame, then arrive before 6:15 am. The kind Janitor provides a sign-up list between 6:15-6:30 am for those who want the 9 am-12 pm time frame. The Janitor will take the morning sign-up list back in with him when he is done cleaning the lobby. So get your name on that morning list before he's done cleaning. b. If you want the 1-3 pm time frame, then arrive by 9 am. At 9 am, Harvinder reads off the morning list (those who showed up early to sign-up) to see who has returned; and provides the sign-up list for the 1-3 pm time frame. c. So arriving before 6:15 am to sign-up for the 9 am-12 pm time frame allows you to leave and come back by at least by 9 am. And arriving by 9 am to sign-up for the 1-3 pm time frame also allows you to leave and come back at least by 1 pm. 7. The Passport Office can only process 30 applicants. The 9 am-12 pm time frame accepts the first 20 applicants. The 1-3 pm time frame accepts 10 applicants. The sign-up list is numbered 1-20 for the morning; then 21-30 for the afternoon. You sign-up as one applicant per line; even if the applicant is a baby/child. There are no time slots. So the earlier you sign up, the earlier you will be seen. You will not know exactly what time you will be seen. But at least you will know whether you're in the morning or afternoon. 8. If you do all your homework: read all the instructions, do your paperwork, gather all your documents, then it's really helpful and will save you time. When I met with Harvinder, it only took about 5-8 minutes for each of my kids. read more

Ditto all the raving reviews for the passport application staff at this post office. I took the day off so I could afford to apply in the afternoon. I followed the recommendations from the reviews and showed up at 9:12am on a Wednesday, August 23rd. There was a line, about 15 to 20 people long already. There's a sign that says only up to 30 applications are processed a day, so I wasn't sure if I made it in under 30. There was no one with the list, and when I inquired the person at the end of the line, she said she was number 12. I had time, so I decided to wait to see if anyone comes out with the list. The passport application is processed in a little room inside the post office building with a glass door, which was shut, and people were lined outside of it in the building. There are a few chairs inside the passport room but none outside. If you have trouble standing in line for a long time, I recommend making arrangements to have someone line up for you. After about 30 minutes, a lady came out with the list inquiring about someone on the list. She then asked if there was anyone not on the list. I let her know I wasn't, then she placed me on the list. My application was for my daughter who was in school that day, so I explained it to her and asked what time I should come back with her. The lady very politely said that it takes on average 15 minutes an application, and estimated that I should come back by 10:30am. Very helpful! I quickly left and came back with my daughter at 10:30am. There was only one person waiting outside the passport room -- the lady who was number 12 -- so I was next! I was very impressed the line was processed as the post office/passport staff had predicted. We waited about 10 minutes and we were in. The female clerk inside the room (I'm guessing it was Harvinder but I forgot to ask her name) was very very pleasant, courteous. She helped me to correctly fill in the form. My husband is deceased, so I left the father information section blank but she told me I should fill it in any way. She showed a lot of sympathy for the fact that I had recently lost my husband -- so sweet. She also engaged with my daughter and was very pleasant all in all. In about 10 minutes, we were out. My daughter didn't even touch her iPad there, and returned to school without missing much. This experience was fantastic, no comparison to what we experienced when we applied at the Meridian Ave. post office 5 years ago when we spent practically the whole day there to get the application done. read more

How many times do you have to go to the post office to ask them to stop misdelivering mail? How BIG should the my name label be in my mailbox? When is the best time to get in touch with someone over the phone about missing mail? I worked for the post office before and believe me when I say, it is not as busy as you think.. except for the holidays. I always went above and beyond for the customer because people can ruin your day when you don't meet their needs. The veterans are just lazy and want easy money. They don't give a s**t about you or your mail. I gave 5 years of my life to the post office and I hate the place. I have PTSD because of them.. however, I don't step foot unless I need to and live at peace now. But i do get agitated when they misdeliver mail on the regular. read more

Yesterday, December 9,2019, 2:45 pm, I went to this post office on Branham Lane in San Jose. Employee, Mr. Singh ignored my questions when I asked him. I wanted all my mail to go out the least expensive, but Mr. Singh was such in a hurry that I'm not sure what he charged me. One regular envelope had a forever stamp on it, however, Mr. Singh charged me $3.70 and ignored my stamp already on the envelope. I had to tell him to give me a new stamp, because he over charged me, he took off the stamp from the envelope and gave it to me. This stamp no longer had adhesive on it and I wanted a new one but he said that he gave me my original one. I asked to speak with the supervisor & I moved to another line. Employee, Brandon called the supervisor twice, however, the supervisor never came out. Brandon told me that he wasn't allowed to give out the supervisor's name. I stayed at the P.O. for 30 minutes & the supervisor never came out. Mr. Singh walked by me and I firmly told him that I wanted a new stamp. He finally gave it to me. Typical of any government ran institution, horrible service, long waits, ridiculous lack of parking, and above all else, lost/delayed mail. On several occasions, I have mailed time sensitive packages, and upgraded to expedited shipping. Over a week AFTER the expected delivery date "...currently in transit to the next facility". If you call them directly, they have an automated system that will hang up on you after telling you to hold. If you call the main USPS hotline, you will wait on hold for at least an hour to hour and a half and be told their is nothing they can do, but from their records, THE PACKAGE HAS YET TO LEAVE THE LOCAL DISTRIBUTION CENTER!! If this is how "efficient" a government ran institution is...I don't want to see them take over healthcare read more

I was waiting for a package which i knew was coming for i was continuously checking the tracking number. I already saw the mail delivery person next to the mailboxes but i did not wanted to bother so i decided to just wait in my apartment door. A few minutes after i decided to check my mailbox. Lo and behold they left a notice saying nobody was there! Im just dumbfounded i already saw the person and Im just waiting in front of our door. They did not even make an effort. Harvinder was a great person to work with on our passport applications. After reading the reviews below, I was at the post office this morning at 5:30 am and there was a list brought out by an employee at 6:30 am. I was the only one waiting at that time and was able to get our names first on the list. I went back home and got back at 8:50 am. Harvinder opened the passport room 9 am sharp. She was both clear and polite when she gave out the instructions to the people waiting in line. We were called in immediately because our names were first on the list and our applications were done by 9:20 am. Harvinder was very efficient and processed our applications quickly, all while making a friendly conversation! I highly recommend this USPS location, and Harvinder especially, to get your passport applications done. One suggestion I have is that you don't have to get there at 5:30 am as some of the reviews below suggested. I was waiting there doing nothing until 6:30 am. Getting there at 6:15 am should be good enough (based on my experience). read more

After multiple calls all around and a few failed attempts I finally came across the Santa Cruz post office. Just drove up here this morning 30 min before they opened and was the first one here. Apparently it's like this every day. No camping out for 3-4 hours in lawn chairs here. Take the drive to SC and get your passport here. Totally worth the 30 minute drive from San Jose. I went to this post office at 5:30am the other day and as people were leaving they told me the list was already full for the day by 5am and that people lined up at 3:45am. Insane! I came to renew my passport and was unsuccessfully the first time I came. My first attempt was on a Thursday morning, I arrived at 8 am and it opens at 9. I was 22nd in line and the cutoff is at the 20th or 21st person and then the line reopens up after the clerk is back from lunch at 1. I decided to come back the next day on a Friday and arrived at 12:45 pm (15 mins before opening) and was 10th in line. I was the last person taken and left around 3:15. Mary Lou was super sweet and made it an easy process for me. She was an efficient worker and tried her hardest to get as many people in as possible. Although I was last I don't think the people after me were upset because they saw how hardworking she was. I had a check and credit card with me and had filled out the form prior to coming. read more

Awful rude men that work at the counter that I truly feel discriminate women!!!! This location really really needs to have a Manager come in and assess the people they have working with customers. There is always such an attitude with some of the employees. Example I went in this week to pick up a couple packages I had and the person waiting in me G. Singh (long first name) was so rude, arrogant and just a straight up asshole!!!! When he brought my package to the counter I tried to turn it just to see who it was from and he snatched it back out of my hand with a dirty dagger look and said you need to wait until I scan it. There's just no reason for that behavior I'm nice to everybody I greeted him with a smile when I walked up to the counter initially and all he did was glare at me with a dirty pissed off look something is really wrong with this person and he does not need to be helping customers he needs to be in the back sorting mail because his people skills suck!!!!!!! read more
