If you ever want bad service from A-to-Z please visit this location. The owner at this location has been showing me $80 for the last two years. His name is Aaron and by the way I have popped up at the location over 10 times and have received phone calls from him telling me that he was leaving my $80 with the cashier three different times and as of today no money has been given to me. I overpaid him for a couple of notaries and I cannot for some strange reason get my $80 back. The staff sucks, the location sucks,there is no customer service skills whatsoever and the place is always dirty, dingy, ridiculously staffed with bad person now. read more

I use this post office on a fairly regular basis & always look forward to Richard helping me. The other folks who work here are nice too, but Richard puts a personal touch to the service. I have walked in & had to wait in line (maybe 8-10 people ahead of me) cuz it's out the door, but it moves at a decent pace... the employees know how to do & are competent at their jobs & speak English. Not like today when I had the unfortunate experience of going to the post office in Castro Valley; only 4 people in line ahead of me, but waited 40 minutes before getting to the desk. Ugh! I'm at this post office 3 to 4 times per week. The staff are all 'exemplary'! It is not their fault that the U.S. Postal Service does not hire enough personnel to prevent the intermittent long lines. I don't blame that on the personnel. I blame that on the U.S. Postal Service that needs a complete 'makeover'! read more

The only reason I'm giving this place 5 stars is because of Richard. He knows how to take care of people and is honestly the most competent person I know there. These other reviews complain about the wait time, but it's unreasonable. If you are unhappy with the US Postal services decision on staffing, take it up directly with them. Don't take out your frustrations with the staff that works here. read more

Man the customer service here is horrible. The usual long lines for usps. But there were three clerks and the two on the sides were fighting on who goes to lunch first and the lady in the middle had to intervene.. How unprofessional. Really rude service for a very simple parcel post transaction from Richard, the same postal jerk who had Mrs. G. (April review) in tears. He was rude to the guy in front of me, and when I stepped up and asked for parcel post options he rolled his eyes and demanded that I tell him how fast I wanted it there. I asked for the options, and he wouldn't give them to me, saying "No, tell me how fast you want it there." When I finally got him to give me an option and a price and then asked for a less expensive option, he muttered "Jesus," gave it to me, and muttered the whole time as I paid him and got out of there as fast as I could. What a jerk -- he needs to be fired, fired, fired! And if there's any justice in the world, he'll be standing in front of a really rude clerk in the unemployment office. read more

I wish there was a closer office to my home. The employees at this office are disgruntled, unpleasant and have poor customer service. They are not helpful with questions. There is one worker (bad choice of word) who is always unpleasant whenever I need to come to this office. Do yourself a favor and go to a another post office and save yourself some frustration. I like coming to this post office. I don't have an issue with the customer service. Yes, there's always a line in the afternoons. I walked in once in the morning to find myself the second person in line. Nice! I find Jackie, Loretta, and Richard very friendly, helpful, and patient with the customers. I only come here on Saturdays and I am EXTREMELY thankful that they are open on Saturday. Comes in handy quite often when I need to ship something. Lines are always super long, but waiting is a price I'm willing to pay. I just make sure to have my packages ready and bring my headphones so I can listen to music while I wait. This is the worst post office I've ever been to. Super slow service! And the workers have no sense of urgency. I even saw one worker go to the back to answer a cell phone call! How do I know? They pulled the phone from out of the pocket and I saw it. And they never even came back! I was in line for at least 25 minutes. This USPS is located inside a small mall so it is very busy. However, that is not an excuse to have 2 employees and 5 counters. The UPS around the corner has about 4 people working only 2 counters, why? Because it's owned by a for-profit company and they know how to make money. If it were not for the cheap certified mail price, I would never come here. And not only that, there's always someone outside asking for money, whether for charity or a homeless person. read more

Still a fair amount of the old post office attitude at this place. Their business is evaporating, and yet still there is the minimal customer assistance given. And there is the usual post office lack of hustle. I only rate it two stars rather than one because sometimes one has to go to some post office, so it is a question of which one, and none are that good. I like this branch because it is open until 4 on Saturdays. I come right before closing usually and there is a bit of a line but what can you expect from the last PO open in the area on a Saturday. Never had to wait long and as far as my experience goes, no unpleasantness at all. read more

Went in on a Saturday, they are supposed to open the doors at 9am. They only started opening at 9:05. One woman was at the counter taking care of the long, long line, while the other woman just sat at her spot in the counter ignoring everyone until she finally decided to take customers at 9:20. If I could give zero stars i would. I had the most uncomfortable and awkward experience here this morning. I typically go to the Airport Post Office in Oakland and I send alot of International mail so I know how this drill goesl. Theyre very familiar with me over there and Im usually in and out but i made the mistake of going to this post office today which i will NEVER do again. The Hispanic lady w/ the curly grey hair, glasses and the accent couldnt be more rude. She started off by making me tape the box up w/ the USPS tape----myself??? Ummm thats fine but arent they supposed to do that? Why am I doing this? Handed me the scissors and everything as if I worked there or something. I was like Oooookay. Then grilled me about what was in the box even tho i made it clear in the customs form what I was sending. Then she grilled me even more about the contents and made it clear she did not believe what I told her because according to her, the box was too big for what i claimed I was sending?! Really??? Meanwhile the line is getting long and I'm getting extremely embarrassed that this woman is questioning me about what im sending. As if I'm doing something wrong. Im black BTW and I had a box that i was sending to W. Africa. Racism? Hmmm....IDK but it sure felt like I was being accused of something just for being black and sending something to a foreign country. And this may be minor but she didnt even staple my receipt & my customs form together like they always do at the airport post office. Just threw it at me. Why are postal people so rude? WORST POST OFFICE EVER!!!!! If I could put 0 stars I would!!! I had sent a package using priority mail 1-3 days for a special someone for it to get there on their birthday. The lady behind the cashier (wish I knew her name) entered a Wrong ZIP Code on her system which made my package go to another state!! It took up to 10days until received! On the box it says fragile and the box was received very damaged!! So I didn't receive the service that I requested and paid for! What I waste of time and money, this will be the last time I send anything from them!!!!!! read more

I don't even want to give this place a one star. I completely agree with Mr & Mrs G's review. First, long waits...even in the early morning. Second, clerks that don't know how to handle questions. Third, Richard, supposedly the supervisor, the man who says: "Talk to the hand." He was so jovial, so kind, so respectful, while joking and working with a lady customer ahead of me. It made me feel happy that there were still such nice people and fun transactions and that I would be the next recipient of such a nice man. WRONG!!! When I approached him with a smile, he soured his face and refused a return smile. When I asked my question still politely and respectfully, he stared at me dead pan, and gave me an unhelpful and crude response. Instead of answering my question or trying to understand what I was asking, he waved me off. He proceeded to motion for the next customer while I was still there as his customer, still standing before him. He told me that the post-office did not provide the forwarding service I had wanted to terminate. I questioned how this was possible since I am currently receiving such service, one that he claims the "post office does not provide." He said he didn't know how I achieved that transaction and essentially did not care how or where I would wind up receiving my mail. He gave me a change of address envelope as he continued to shoo me away because I am such a pesky fly. Perhaps if I was a different color or possessed a different body type, he would have treated me as well and as nicely as he did the lady before me. He has no customer service etiquette or knowledge, even as a supervisor. If I had this type of attitude, an inability to be tactful, and a lack of competence at my job, I would be fired or reprimanded. I suppose working for the post office affords him his job security so that he can continue to be that nasty, unhelpful, and uncaring man that he is to others...except for those special others that his short peg picks and chooses to be extra nice with. read more

One of the worst post offices. They lock the doors a few minutes early and routinely ignore you even if you're standing right there. If it's not open, they won't lift a finger to get a box or envelope. The Filipino fellow will usually, though he's rarely around. It's slow and a great example of disgruntled postal workers. And I recently noticed they don't scan in packages. I could swear they used to. Now it goes straight from online label created to maybe an acceptance scan at the main Oakland post office. Tracking only works if it's scanned along the way and it's not happening here anymore. I tested it with mail dropped off in the afternoon and after the counter closed. No scans. It's a glorified mail bin and stamp machine these days. I had yelled one time the drop bin was stuck with a box. The clerks kept replying they're closed. All I was asking was to move the box. I clearly had been struggling with the chute and slamming it over and over. No one checked to see if I was breaking anything which I would have if it allowed me to drop off my packages. This may be the closest post office and one with Saturday hours, but I'm looking at driving to Alameda from now on and run errands. Miserable place and unhelpful people. read more

Bad... VERY BAD. For those who aren't familiar with what envelopes is best for sending items, I can tell you that the people working there offer very bad advice. I had to rewrite my sending information THREE TIMES cause thats how many times they screwed me up and told me to get out of line and refill the mailing forms. All I wanted was the cheapest way to mail my items, BUT instead they tried selling me the most expensive way to mail. Their first attempt was trying to get me to mail 2 items for 26 dollars. Come to find out, the cheapest way was under 10 bucks!! They SUCK! And if you try calling them.....Most likely you'll only get a ring with no answer. They've also lost my mail. NO STARS!!! read more

I have been coming to this post office for about 15 years, and have seen its ups and downs. I highly recommend it, over all. I look forward to having Richard help me, as he is particularly friendly and knowledgeable. I often come in with multiple packages, some to international destinations, and I am always treated with the same respect and competence as if I had come in just to buy a book of stamps -- even on Christmas rush days. I must disagree with the negative reviews. These are friendly, competent people doing an extremely difficult job. It does occasionally seem that they are understaffed, hence the 4 stars, but so is Office Depot and many other businesses. read more
