This Post Office is located in the San Leandro Plaza and is open on Saturdays!! When I do have to mail a package, this is where I go!! The main reasons for that is that they usually have multiple windows open and they are open on Saturdays, the only day that I really have time for this. Now, sometimes on said Saturdays there's a long line here, but it moves along decently. The postal workers here are friendly and polite also!!

He temper tantrumed and canceled all of my orders.

I had the MOST appalling service from a postal worker here (see the second paragraph!). After "helping" me with my packages for an hour, he couldn't figure out how to ship out a small parcel to the UK. He had me fill out several forms and change envelopes twice, and he finally decided he didn't want to do it and he essentially threw a temper tantrum: He canceled EVERY SINGLE PACKAGE he scanned into the database (and hour's worth of work!) and then wanted to send me back into a long line to get help from someone else. This was totally out of left field, I was there with two small children, and when I said it didn't make sense for me to have to have all that work canceled only to go back into a very long line, he stuck out his hand in my face and screamed, "talk to the hand! Get back in line!" over and over. The most curious thing is that I followed all his directions, I was respectful; I did nothing to provoke this. He just got frustrated and couldn't handle himself. He continued his tantrum, cursing at me in front of my 2 and 4 year old. I was so shocked that I did nothing but cry silent tears in frustration at this treatment. People in line were shocked too, and they were taking his name down. Meanwhile, after reversing all my charges, he up and left. The other worker helped me out, saying that this other guy just "gets like that sometimes." In what world and in what job is this acceptable? Talk about feeling vulnerable in a place where they know where you live! This guy is unsafe and should NOT be allowed to work with people.

The only USPS location I've been to in the Bay Area that charges you for a receipt when dropping off a package.

Instead, they placed the packages and labels on the back counter to be packaged later. This has happened to me before, and my packages ended up getting mixed up, which is why I made the request in the first place. What made the experience worse was the response from the employees. The woman assisting me and a tall older man with white hair behind the counter laughed and made dismissive comments such as, "Oh, come on! We're UPS, we know what we're doing!" Regardless of where you work, mistakes can happen, and customers should be treated with respect when they're simply trying to avoid a problem. It's not unreasonable for a customer to want a little peace of mind, especially when mistakes do happen. I took my other package and left. For reference it was not busy at all. I was the only customer in the store at the time.

However, I learned that it was a Postal Annex store and did not charge FedEx prices (or even close in my case). I copied my papers and prepared to send them by FedEx. Clerk Caroline correctly put my two mailings in two separate FedEx envelopes (going to the East Coast). She told me that the charges would be $69.44 for each. I told her that I had sent similar mailings by FedEx and been charged $10. She said that she hadn't hear of any $10 FedEx mailing charge and maintained the $69.44 charges must be paid. She offered to return my mailings but I needed to have them sent that day (August 27, 2023), as Caroline knew from our earlier conversation. I paid the total charges ($138.88) and left the store. The next day, I phoned the store in order to dispute the excessive charges with the manager, I called 3X getting no answer each time. I then called Postal Annex customer service in Denver. I was told (by Jeri) that each Postal Annex store is independently operated and has no limit on their charges. Jeri called the Fremont store and told me that no adjustment to my charges would be made. I am informed that FedEx currently charges $10.95 for the mailings such as mine (even shipping to the East Coast, as in my case). I made a letter complaint to Postal Express headquarters but there was no reply. Apparently, it is OK for Postal Express stores to rip off customers.
