The thought of going to the post office is scarey. Why? Let me tell you: 1. There's almost always a line. 2. It may be a short line but you can be there for 20 minutes with only 3 people in line. 3. Once you see the line you realize how unimportant your package or mail is. (eh, I'll pick up my package some other time) Now, understanding that the post office will be slow. I volunteered to go with the Boyfriend and do his errands. I'm pretty patient when it comes to lines -especially when I have no place to be at a certain time. The Boyfriend how ever is incredibly impatient when it comes to lines. Within 2-3 minutes standing there and listening in on some of the people's concerns and questions at each station, he realizes it was going to be a long long wait. What doesn't help is that the staff seems to be moving extra slow. After only a few minutes, we decided to leave without getting stamps -our main reason of being there. The office is a bit run down but not messy. No parking lot available so please find a parking on the main street. So basically, we never gave it a chance. The tiny worker lady here totally disregarded my request about my package like she didnt hear me. However, she talks more than necessary and in a robotic computer manner. I dont think shes looking to be helpful, but just to get the job done. I didnt bother arguing or mentioning it, just mentally thinking "she got problems" in my head. Update: They finally opened the doors at 9:50am! Customers could hear one of the female employees ask a male employee from behind the rent-a-boxes: "Are you not going to open?" Original Post: Status on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 9:34am PST: Closed! Business Hours posted on door on a non-Federal Holiday Saturday is 9am to 1pm. I'm waiting with other customers in front of a locked door when they are supposed to be opened already. Line is growing by the minute. First customer in line is an elderly lane with a cane. I love this post office even though all I can do here is get stamps or send a package. But it's in a good neighborhood location and the lines aren't ropey, like they can be in some places. And they move pretty quickly. I can also rent a box. So for the basic things that we need, they serve our needs. Just remember that they don't deliver mail, so if mail is not delivered, you have to go up to the Hilltop Branch for a pickup. But for a cool, neighborhood spot to drop off mail and get stamps, they do the job. read more

They really need to hire more help at the counter in the post office because they only have one woman working by herself & she should not be working with the public. I stood in line and watched this woman argue and be very condescending with multiple people. One of those women had a service dog & the clerk told her that unless "she is blind or something" she can't have a service dog. Ma'am what? Post offices are dreaded for a reason and this location is a reason why. There is never more than three employees working the front desk and one of them doesn't do any transactions. What does she do? I don't know. They have instated a new policy of not taking any pre-stamped mail at the front desk. I really don't know what this BBW does. Regardless, the other two regulars are very friendly and do their best to cater to people, especially non-English speakers. The actual post office is pretty outdated and quite ugly in my opinion. It's always busy at noon, during peoples lunch hour and during the last half hour of business (5PM). If you come mid-day, you should be in and out in 5-10 minutes. I would really like the interior to be upgraded and at least one more regular employee. They carry the usual items you'll see at other locations: boxes, tape, envelopes, etc. Not a bad place, but don't be a regular. read more

I don't usually comment on places but I experienced my first male Karen moment. It was thrilling. So thrilling that I fumbled with my phone and only caught the last part as he did his walk of shame out of the door as everyone was left in silence. This man clomped up to the counter and the woman working, Phoung, kindly greeted him and asked him what he needed. The man cut her off and said, I DONT NEED YOU TO ASK ME ANYTHING. I DON'T NEED STAMPS. I JUST NEED YOU TO DO WHAT I ASK YOU TO!! He spoke to her like they were in the middle of a heated argument. This woman, mind you, had her scale to weigh packages malfunction, her computer decided that it didn't want to work anymore and had to restart it working ALL BY HERSELF on a Friday around lunchtime. She really wanted to do a good job so she managed to work it out while the line grew. If anyone reading this were spoken to the way he did you would've had to use all your God given strength not to go nuclear, hop over that counter and made him eat those words. I was on the side ready to say something but Phoung had it covered. She responded in kind with the addition of respect saying, I just asked what you needed so there wouldn't be any misunderstandings!! Then SHE apologized for the miscommunication for reasons unknown. After reading the other reviews, I would have to agree with the Yelpers for the most part. They seem to be always understaffed, so I try to go in during a slow periods, and that speeds things up. They close at one on Saturdays, but that last hour is packed, and they lock the door promptly at 1:00! Best to get there before 11:00 if you don't want to wait. The staff is always pleasant and professional. I've never had any problems, and I'm always greeted with a smile. Since I go there on a regular basis, they often remember what country I'm sending mail to (^_^)! read more

I have a mixed feeling for this place. Sometimes its super fast, sometimes its okay and sometimes its sooooo slow. And its all based on what time you go there. When i went earlier like pretty much in the morning after it opened, service is super fast. Worst is around 12-2 thats when one of them leaves for lunch and then you are stuck in this long line. After 3 is okay i think, again sometimes it may some times it may not. This is my neighborhood post office so i go here everytime. Services are pretty good. read more

I live on the border of richmond and San Pablo and will ONLY go to this post office. Staff is very helpful, especially Val. Sure sometimes their lines are slow but that's because they usually only have two people working YET they are working hard to answer each customers questions about rates, packages, how to ship, etc. and ensure that they are satisfied. I've seen many satisfied regular customers including myself. They have the basic necessary services and packing supplies (sometimes they run out of the padded flat rate envelopes so you may want to order one in advance, they are free and ship free for you on USPS.com). They have a table with two chairs in the window area to prepare your packages and another table in the lobby area. They do not have a self service machine at this location. Parking is okay, 5 or 6 spaces in the front (3 minute parking), a small gated lot that accommodates maybe 6 or 7 more spaces and a few spaces on the side. The post office rates are far better than their competitors yet they are understaffed, which is why you have longer waits. But I don't mind waiting 15 minutes or so (I usually go on weekdays between 10a-12p) it's worth it at this location. read more

The lady behind the counter Anita, was not only sweet, pleasant, polite, and made good chitchat, but when I accidentally slid across something for UPS instead she told me where the UPS office was -- how nice! read more

The Staff here are friendly but they need more on rush hours. Started coming to this one early November of last year just before I started to launch my Ebay venture. They seem to be understaffed but this place does run quite slow. It's wheel chair accessible however their stamp machines seems to always be broken and you have no choice but to stand in line for stamps at the only counter. (Get the machines to work please). Expressed mailed 1/24/14 to be delivered 1/25/14. Mail was never delivered,when we tracked the mail it was stated that a notice was left at the addressee's. I signed to have the mail left without a signature because the addressee was at home waiting. Addressee did not see a notice of an attempt to deliver. Tracked a package by UPS all the way to this post office. Suddenly I get an alert from UPS that says, "Package returned to sender by local post office." No explanation. Of course no one at the post office picks up the phone. Horrible. read more

I called today and the phone rang 75 times and no one picked up the phone!! The Post office has a terrible reputation for lazy people. I've spoken to some carriers who say there are way too many who sit around and do nothing all day long. They can't even get off their lazy asses and pick up the damn phone. This is the most unorganized and incompetent USPS branch I have every encountered. I checked the status of a package and it said there was an attempted delivery 5 days ago and that a notice was left. I received no notice and, as I was home all day the day they supposedly tried to deliver it, I know that there was no attempt. I tried scheduling a redelivery online and it says that the package has already been returned to sender. It has been 5 days. The policy is to keep an unclaimed package for 15 days before returning it to the sender. I tried calling at 4:30p on a Monday and no one answered. This is a branch that makes the entire USPS look bad. Coming from a Postal family, I am appalled at the lying and laziness that goes on here. read more

Whoever delivers our mail is terrible. Since we have moved in he/she WILL NOT take our outgoing mail unless we have a hot pink sign on our mailbox that says we have outgoing mail. Never once have I had this issue until I moved to SP. Here recently, however, we have had outgoing mail in our mailbox, with the hot pink sign on it, and he/she hasn't been taking it. He/she has been putting mail in there but not taking the outgoing. There should be NO excuse since there is a nice bright pink sign attached to the box!! We are never home when mail is delivered so we haven't even had the chance to confront the mail person about it. What I also don't understand is everyone else in the neighborhood has mailboxes on their house and have no issues, ours however is on our fence by the sidewalk (so they HAVE to walk by it and see it even if we aren't receiving mail) and we still have issues.
