The employee who helped me was super friendly - and he came out to help me when the owner was deep in conversation with the customers ahead of me and I was waiting for a while. I wouldn't necessarily recommend getting passport photos here, though - they're more expensive than FedEx and AAA & mine didn't come out so great (they seemed ok on the screen but when I got home we decided they looked like a mugshot, overexposed and with my face distorted - I went elsewhere the next day and they looked much more natural). Parking is easy enough if you want to mail something and the post office is closed. read more

With several locations around the San Diego area, you are sure to find one that works for you. This location {in Carmel Valley on Valley Center Drive} is my favorite. Located in the Piazza Carmel / Pavilions Shopping Plaza, you will find plenty of parking in the front lot - If for some reason this is packed, there is a smaller lot out back as well. The number one reason this is my favorite location is the staff - The team is beyond friendly, always gives service with a smile and they remember me from visit to visit {maybe because the amount I ship}.. and it's this exceptional service that brings me back. The team is always engaging in conversation and provides the most amazing service! This location recently changed ownership and as I've experienced at other businesses, the service can lack when this happens, but this location did not skip a beat - I had the pleasure in meeting the new owner and he is a gem - Bravo to this team for keeping me sane during all of my holiday shipping. Postal Annex is such a wonderful asset when shipping - You are given quotes based on how fast you want your package to arrive and the price you'd like to pay - And you will be given quotes from USPS, UPS and Fed Ex. It's great to have so many options! Yesterday I packed about 10 different return packages in my car ready to make three stops because I had packages going via DHL, UPS and Fed Ex. I went to the Postal Annex first because the Postal Annex is the only store that I found that accepts DHL packages. I first want to give a shout out to a young man named Jad who was behind the counter helping the customer in front of me. I couldn't help but overhear some of his conversation with this customer and realized he had a very engaging manner and sounded very helpful with the customer's shipping needs and also sounding very personable. After a short wait, I was helped by a young woman named Kelsey who quickly helped me with my DHL return. I then noticed signs mentioning UPS and Fed Ex shipments so I asked Kelsey if the signs meant that the Postal Annex also accepted UPS and Fed Ex shipments. She told me that they did so I was able to drop off all ten packages with Kelsey saving me from having to make two other stops. I found Kelsey to be very helpful, pleasant and cheerful. I recommend the Postal Annex both for their great employees and for their utility to be a drop off spot for all four of the biggest shippers: USPS, Fed EX, UPS and DHL. read more

Whether you just need a stamp and an envelope or you need something notarized... this is the BEST place to go. I've been using this store for over ten years and they consistently provide great service and the friendly customer service. Nearby there is a UPS store, a US Post Office and a FedEx store and while they all provide similar mailing service, none of them have the excellent customer service you will experience here at Postal Annex. I don't do regular mailing but I've used this store for random packaging, notary service, picking up mailing or packing supplies and more. Whenever I've gone in, they always have exactly what I need and their prices are fair. And best of all, the people they have working here are always friendly and helpful. There are other options in the area, but you can't beat the service at this place and I wish more businesses were like this. read more

KUDOS TO KELSEY Kelsey is a gem! I needed to ship two large and heavy boxes, one of which contained fragile computer equipment. These had to arrive on or after a specific date in the future. Kelsey went above and beyond, going so far as to call UPS several times over the course of a few days and giving me updates. Everything arrived on schedule and without a scratch, no doubt due to the thorough and careful packing done by Kelsey. Not sure I can say anything bad about this particular PostalAnnex... They pretty much do everything you need as far as the mailbox stores are concerned and they do it quickly. People tend to love the PO boxes here and the shipping services pretty much blow USPS out of the water. I have actually shipped several packages from here, gotten passport photos and ordered shipping supplies. The staff is always on point and extremely helpful. High recommend these guys. I've been in this location for a variety of reasons, most recently for Live Scan. Kirk is always friendly and efficient. The staff here is always friendly and helpful as well. They are a busy store but it doesn't affect the service. The only downside is the parking lot. It's a nightmare. I've never found a good time to park and avoid the craziness. read more

Unreliable and over the top charges!!! I wanted to mail 2 large envelopes last week by regular US Postal Service. By mistake I stepped into this PostalAnnex (the official USPS store is in the same plaza). I was told that the PostalAnnex will be 25% - 30% more expensive but since I was in a hurry, I decided to use their services and was charged $2.40 for each envelope. I was a little surprised since each envelope had only 3 sheets of paper. I had a similar envelope with 3 sheets of paper to mail today so this time I went to the actual USPS store and they charged me only $1.00. So I went to the PostalAnnex with my receipt and another similar envelope with 3 sheets of paper to find out if they had accidentally overcharged me last week. They weighed it and told me that it would cost me $1.85 this time. When I asked them how come their charges are not consistent and so much higher than USPS (140% and 85% more!!!), I was told that it was due to the high rent! That is just a ridiculous explanation but I am glad that I was able to contribute towards paying their rent! read more

Have you ever shipped anything to Great Briitain? It's not easy. The Brits don't have what we consider real addresses, just property titles. Imagine you wanted to send something to Mr. Darcy from Austen's Pride and Prejudice. How would you go about explaining to the kindly Postal Annex clerk that "Pemberly" was sufficient for both the house number and the street name? No number just Pemberly. No street, just Pemberly. What of that clerk's software program, that greedily demands a number? How would the cumbersome feat of working around it's pre-ordained rules regarding addresses be.... addressed? Such was my conundrum the other day at the Postal Annex; and I must applaud the patient clerk for not being driven mad by my insistence that such an address was not only real, but perhaps even superior to our own numbered street system. After this experience I shall be making the Postal Annex my preferred method of shipment. Not only were all the clerks I met sincerely helpful, but the store itself carried items I found interesting and relevant. For example they sell million dollar chocolate bars. No, not literally. The bars themselves are just a few bucks. It is the wrapping that envelopes each bar proclaiming itself as a bill worth that very tidy sum of 1,000,000. They're so damned entrancing I couldn't help but purchase a few. Thanks for carrying those, PostalAnnex! They made my day, as did your excellent staff on two separate occasions now. I visit this Postal Annex for notary services and passport photos etc. I wanted passport photographs taken. Esme who was the photographer was super helpful, not only taking the photographs but separating them so the photographs were all the same size. I wanted double sided tape and could not find it on display, but she found it and was gracious and kind throughout. Thanks Esme. I have found the service at this store always great. I had to get the ink fingerprinting done and I had no clue about how and where to get it done. I called a lot of places but most of them were not interested in helping me. But Katie on phone really helped me explaining properly. I went there later that the day and it was a different lady who was helping me with the actual fingerprinting. This postal place kicks the USPS's arse! They are so helpful and friendly! Once, I lost an address and remembered I shipped to there from this location once-I called, they had it on file and saved the day. Once, I had forgotten to send an important document to my SF office and needed to get it there ASAP. They checked prices across the board... and then actually sent me to the Post Office because it would get there in the same time but would be cheaper. They put my needs above their sales-solidifying my patronage forever. Yesterday, I suspected I had over weight Halloween cards to send to my nephews and niece and they weighed them all to make sure they wouldn't get returned. They did exact postage for me! 5 stars for packages and post! They also still have a fax machine if you and your contacts are in the stone age and your carrier pigeon is broken.
