Are you kidding me? Whoever was supposed to open this place on the Friday morning before Christmas failed and there was a massive line. I had to catch a flight so I couldn't stay and therefore wasn't able to send out my holiday cards. How inconsiderate. No wonder this place only has two stars. I will say there is one gentleman there who is the lifeblood of this place and he's wonderful. Whoever was supposed to open that day, shame. read more

The staff at this post office are super friendly and helpful. I had a few questions and it was a bit after 5:00. Both clerks were fun and nice. They did not mind being there a little late. I used to dread going there but now is a pleasure. Yay! Thank you So Po Post Office! read more

Ok second time now, I have had an encounter with the most unfriendly, unhelpful rude blue haired counter person that I have experience with in my 14 years of holding a po box at this post office. She needs to learn how to be courteous and helpful because she was anything but . One more encounter with this rude overburden unhelpful person I will be filing a formal complaint with the state postal service Director. read more

I have to drop my already (favorable), low 2 start rating to 1 star - if there was a 1/4 start, I would select it. In the over 15-20 years that I've been coming to this post office, there have been many instances that I've needed to call the PO...mail related POBox related, etc., because I was traveling or it wasn't possible for me to go in person. Never and I mean never, has any one answered the phone, though there is a number listed. I have called over 250 times (no joke) at all times of day - never has anyone answered the phone. I've had to contact local store owners, mail carriers, S.Portland mail carrier distribution office, etc., to help me get in touch with someone in the office. It's ridiculous! Why bother listing a number if you don't answer it? Though there may be other issues with S. Portland, the post office is one bloody Achilles heel! read more

Ever need to go to a post office during the holidays? It is never fun and you have to buckle in for lines. Go on a Saturday in mid December -- oh boy, you are a glutton for punishment. Which, I apparently am. The staff there was very helpful and tried to keep things moving as much as possible. And, really, the line was fairly jovial - we all recognized our plight in this, and kept it light and friendly. The waiting area is abysmally small - but, its an old building in New England, what should I expect? Life is about managing expectations. I knew what I was getting into, and really, this post office was pleasant, and I did my errand without being hurt or even mildly annoyed. Successful adulting right here. read more

The female bleached blonde older female employee was rude and unprofessional to most of the customers while I was there today. She obviously doesn't like her job very much, since she is unable to show kindness to the patrons of the South Portland folks mailing packages. This is a great town and we need to have good spirited people working with the public. read more

There always seems to be a line, and the layout is awkward. If there IS a line, you need to excuse your way up to the mail drop-off slot, but people in the neighborhood are friendly and nice and it's really no big deal. The employees are always helpful and quick about completing your transaction. As previously mentioned, there's a self-service station just as you enter. If you need to buy packing supplies, you should probably enter through the exit door, because there isn't much space between the aforementioned line and the walkway to get to the packing supplies. There's a parking lot that fits about a half dozen cars adjacent to the post office and it usually has an available space. read more

The South Portland Post Office is a touch "out of the way" as I have been told lately... however, it is right in the heart of Knightville which used to be where the old Million Dollar Bridge brought traffic before being torn down and replaced with the Casco Bay Bridge. This Post Office is small and can be busy, but often I find that people are waiting in a long line, when there is a self service station directly in front of you as you walk in. You can mail packages and buy stamps and be on your way... plus, the self service station is open 24/7! However, the postal workers are friendly and many seem to know the folks going in there, so if I was more in touch, I am sure I would wait in line to talk with my favorite postal employee as well. I haven't encountered nor overheard one of them be short or rude to anyone no matter the length of the line or time of year (Christmas!). read more

Absolutely horrible. They never deliver mail or packages on time. They never pick up the phone when you try to inquire why and nobody does anything about it when youre finally able to physicaly go there and ask about it. Such incompetence read more

Probably the laziest people in existence, I will sit in my living room right next to the door and the mailman won't even knock for a signature confirmation. It's been twice in the same week that he just somehow snuck up and left the notice in the mailbox. read more
