A Tale of Two UPS Stores Unfortunately I had to twice go through the escrow process for the same property I was selling. Both had the same requirement that I get a notarized transfer of the deed. The first time I went to the 110 Marginal Way address. Here an unpleasant woman charged me $15 twice. $15 for the notarized transfer of deed and $15 for the form that the escrow company wanted with her contact and licensing information that DID NOT require a notarization. The second time I took my documents to 405 Western Ave. Here a soft-spoken gentlemen charged me $10 for the notarized document, filled out his contact and licensing information for free and apologized for my very brief wait. Maybe my perspective of this UPS is different because I'm used to the one on Marginal Way (https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-ups-store-portland-6), but I've never had an issue here: 1. There's an enormous parking lot since it's part of a strip mall, so that's an instant win in my book. 2. The store itself is shaped like a long hallway, but it's clean and easy to navigate. Admittedly, sometimes the staff can be a little... brutish. I only ever drop-off prepaid packages here (if you need more services than that, I highly suggest the UPS in Falmouth [https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-ups-store-falmouth] because #theyreperfect), and have never had one go unscanned (where I have at Marginal Way and needed to hunt it down). However, I do only feel barked at: "DROPPING OFF? LEAVE IT THERE!" yells the employee regardless if they're with another customer or just sitting there. Whatever: as long as my seventy five thousand returns to Amazon get back to Amazon, I don't have a problem being snapped at - at least I know what to expect, that they've acknowledged my presence, and have recognized I've dropped something off! read more

I had to drop off a package and was told I had to wait in line. There were 2 people in front of me. 15 minutes later I said screw it and left without mailing my package. The guy running this store has no idea what he's doing and is not in a hurry to do it. read more

I had never been to this UPS location before and most likely will be going to another location next time. I just needed to drop off a package to ship. I had a prepaid label on my box. The older man said just leave it! I wasn't sure about the process and he just insisted to drop it anywhere on the desk. I asked him if I had enough tape on my box and his answer was, good enough! I usually don't think twice about sending a package, but this box was full of my family videos going to Legacybox. He never gave me a tracking slip. I just got in my car and thought to myself did I upset him. When I got home later that day I wanted to see if there were any reviews from YELP about this location. Positive or negative I needed to check. Well I'm not the only one to experience this grumpy old man. I will drive to another UPS store next time. And I'm hoping to hear from Legacybox soon that my package arrive. read more

I had 2 amazon returns to bring to the UPS store. I had to quickly run this errand in the middle of my very busy work day. I got into the store and realized I had printed 1 label and forgot the other on my printer in my office. The woman behind the counter wanted to charge me $5 to print ONE PIECE OF PAPER. Anywhere else this would cost 10 cents! She even referred me to Staples! I have ZERO time for this. I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 because it gets the job done and there is a parking lot. The staff? Not personable at all -- and pretty unpleasant. However, my biggest issue is that the place absolutely REEKS of cigarettes. So gross. Save yourself the trouble (and your sense of smell) and find another location to use. read more

I sent a package. They didn't provide me a tracking number on my receipt. The package is now lost. Employee Pat told me it was my job to ask for a tracking number and there's nothing I can do. Yes there is. I can tell folks do not use this business. read more

If you are looking for friendly service, or at least to not be barked at and treated like a nuisance for simply walking through the door, go elsewhere. Anywhere. The employees at the UPS Depot on Foden Road are much more pleasant to deal with. Also, don't bother going here if you need to mail a package via the Postal Service and it weighs more than 13 ounces; this place will turn you away and tell you to go to a regular post office. I recommend the post office in Scarborough for fast friendly service and employees who won't treat you badly. read more

Simple, professional service. We originally tried to go into Staples, in the same plaza, which also says UPS on the outside of the building. Staples was completely useless, as they don't pack it for you - you're on your own there. Useless. Instead, we walked over to this UPS store, and the packed and mailed our package with no hassle! There are plenty of ups stores around, no need for you to suffer this dense man. He doesn't understand why I need a receipt when I hand him hundreds of dollars in amazon merchandise. I should trust that he scanned the merchandise and that nothing is going to happen to the system before I get my confirmation. I'm all for saving paper and money but, he even looked at me like I was an idiot when I took a picture of the tag they printout. With the level customer service he provides, he clearly doesn't care about service so why trust your returns to him? He might go and have a sandwich and wipe his face with your return...(I'm joking) but do not go there do not reward mediocre service! read more

My wife just came home from this UPS store frazzled and dumbfounded by the rudeness of the owner. He was snippy, condescending and yelled at another customer before it was her turn . His manner was disdainful and unapologetic. Avoid this store if you can. read more

My wife and I want to recognize the exceptional customer service which UPS employee, Terri Mingo provided to us on Monday, July 10, 2017. We were traveling and needed help to package some items to ship home. Doing so would save us money because the airline charges an extra $100 for a checked bag weighing over fifty pounds. We were in a hurry and did not have a decent box for shipping, nor packing tape, etc. We stopped at the UPS store at Jetport Plaza at 405 Western Avenue in South Portland, Maine. We explained our situation and Terri immediately set us at ease by offering to pack our items for us, in an appropriate box. We were on our way in just a few minutes. Terri exceeded our expectations! After we arrived home in Marietta, Georgia, our parcel was cheerfully delivered, as usual, by Mike, our regular UPS delivery person. Terri had expertly packed our materials. I have used this UPS Store for several years. I have probably mailed 200 pieces of the same envelopes and same content. I usually pay $1.50 to send. Today I was told it was $5.50. I guess it's time to use the Post Office again. Trying to support local is sometimes for the birds. read more

I was never treatly so rudely in all my life! I left in shock and wasn't sure I was in a UPS facility. This was my second time in this store. The first time there was female who was abrupt by not rude. The second time the man was just rude. I asked for a print out with the time the packaged was scanned. The first time, she gave me one. The man, however said "we don't do that". I explained last time I got one. Nope, not happening. I don't know if UPS has a charm school but this man certainly needs to go. HORRIBLE SERVICE AND DISHONEST! I left my ring with sentimental value in my hotel room at the Doubletree .When I noticed I did not have it I immediately called the hotel! I spoke with one of the individuals and they said they would be able to ship it as soon as possible. They took down my information and stated I would be receiving a call from this ups store with an estimate for my order. I kindly thanked the individual from the hotel for sympathizing with me and taking immediate action! I eagerly waited for the call from the ups store. However I NEVER RECEIVED a call from the ups store confirming my address,phone,email etc. I just saw the shipping fee deduct from my account. I was very upset because I did not authorize them to deduct from my account and was never called ! Did not receive a tracking number nothing!! I had been waiting for this package for over a month! I then went ahead and called the hotel and spoke with the manager Nick. He apologized for the inconvenience and provided me the number to the UPS store. I called this store and a lady by the name of Terry answered the phone. I then preceded to tell her about what had happened . Terry then stated " your package was shipped back to our store because the address was invalid ". We then went over my address to confirm it was right and it was off by one digit. I then asked if she could have it shipped out tonight. Terry then stated that was fine and that she would need my CC info. I told her why am I being charged AGAIN when I did not receive my package?Terry responded, " Well why else ?we need to ship it!." I then calmly explained to her that it was not my fault my address was relayed incorrectly. She then seemed to rush me off the phone and stated, "It was not her problem and I needed to take it up with the hotel because they verified the address when my ring was dropped off at the store (basically blaming the hotel's employees.)I then asked for the manager in which she responded ," I am the manager." I then stated , " Well I would like to speak to the district manager." Terry then gave me a 1-800 number. I then stated, "this is the number to your district manager ?" Terry said, "Yes." I then stated ,"Wow that's the first time I ever been given a 1-800 number to speak with a manager." She then said, "well you can go up the ladder but they are going to give you the same answer I am giving you." Then Terry said, " Actually our store owner is standing right here, he can speak to you." I said great! After being placed on hold for 10 min she then stated we will have to call you back. The store owner Patrick called me back basically stating ," There is nothing we can do for you take it up with the hotel!" I then explained to him that I was very frustrated and how could they blame the hotel when it could have been one of their employees and told him that was a fair argument. He then stated it was not a fair argument and insisted I take it up with the hotel to cover the shipment. I then stated, I did not authorize him to charge my card and I should have received a call for the estimate before being charged! Patrick then stated, "well that is not how our process is!We do not give courtesy call back calls. I then stated , So your store does not confirm customers address information because every time I have had something shipped through UPS I at least get a email confirming my address info is correct! Or a tracking number.He then stated ," We were never given an email or phone number in order to contact you!" I said, "Wow but you had my credit card information right but didn't manage to check the address linked to my credit card!" Patrick then said, " it's not my problem you need to take it up with the hotel." I then called the hotel back and spoke with Nick. He then asked who I spoke to from this ups store and was pretty shocked on how they treated me (since they regularly do business with this store.) He was upset and stated the exact same thing I told the management at this store-" how do we know it was not an error on their end." I then asked if they could cover the cost and Nick stated, " Wow I didn't even know you were ever charged?! Nick offered me a credit at their hotel for the trouble but I just stated thank you I just want my ring! I then called Patrick back and paid for the shipping a SECOND TIME! We then went over my personal info (that he supposedly did not receive.) After this I was sent an email confirmation ( which Patrick told me prior they did not do) with my information however my name was spelt wrong by one letter! Fuming at this point I called him back and stated , YOU SPELT MY NAME WRONG BY ONE LETTER I'm sure it was not the hotel who entered my address wrong." His response complete silence. Worst experience I ever had at UPS! PLEASE AVOID THIS STORE! Go to all other ups stores in South Portland or better yet use Fedex!! The service here is not customer oriented! Dishonest! I was certainly surprised to see the previous negative review. I recently went here for shredding (several boxes of papers) and shipping a large package. The person there was very pleasant. The shredding was weighed and taken back for destruction in their own machine (vs nearby Staples who was waiting for a service to pick up full bins). She then took my large, heavy, fairly well sealed box and said she would take care of it. It just arrived at the West Coast and had been perfectly taped and prepared for shipment.
