This UPS is in a highly trafficked area of Portland and parking is DIFFICULT. Hopefully you'll be able to score a free 15 minute spot on Marginal Way (though, I've been known to use the Trader Joe's lot and dash across the street in desperate times). It's a smaller UPS compared to many others, so it can get congested with customers quickly; like just three or four people and it feels claustrophobic. The store is usually very clean. And when there's no one else in line, you can get in and out very quickly. It's easy to drop off prepaid boxes (though there's not a lot of counter space; one big box and you'll have to start stacking), it's easy to have them scan/process QR codes for Amazon returns, it's easy to email the store for prints (and they're super patient helping with that). The biggest issue is their staffing. Sometimes there's only one person working (it's infrequent that there's anyone within sight when I first enter the store; sometimes the person in the back will shout-out a greeting though)!. Picture this - because it happens often here -: three customers (one who needs thirty prints in color, one who doesn't really have their box taped or even the address they were sending their cookies to, one who needs to just drop off a return) all walk in at the same time vs one employee. Let's be patient and appreciative out there, folks. Open 7:30am to 6pm Monday through Friday; open at 10am to 4pm on Saturdays. Closed on Sundays. read more

If you ship from this store, and your package is lost, you have to wait for the owner to go to work, in order to file a claim with UPS. The owner is the only person who can file a claim. UPS will not allow recipients to file a claim if their package is lost. Only this one person, at the store where you shipped your package. In my case, my medication was lost in the system, somewhere in Massachusetts. I called Friday morning, and was told the owner won't be in until Tuesday. By the time my claim is filed, my reserve medication will be gone. I wish I'd used Fedex. read more

A Tale of Two UPS Stores Unfortunately I had to twice go through the escrow process for the same property I was selling. Both had the same requirement that I get a notarized transfer of the deed. The first time I went to the 110 Marginal Way address. Here an unpleasant woman charged me $15 twice. $15 for the notarized transfer of deed and $15 for the form that the escrow company wanted with her contact and licensing information that DID NOT require a notarization. The second time I took my documents to 405 Western Ave. Here a soft-spoken gentlemen charged me $10 for the notarized document, filled out his contact and licensing information for free and apologized for my very brief wait. Notary services, I needed name change documents notarized and had my ID with me. The lady refused to notarize because I changed my name in 2022, as if that's a problem? Like hello? Then proceeded to infer that I was lying about my name change to a room full of people?! Excuse me, you had my ID and documents in front of you, it's not that hard. She treated me with such disrespect, if you need notary services, go somewhere else where they actually KNOW what they are doing. Will never return, recommend you never to use this location. Inept and incapable of using notary services appropriately. read more

I called ahead to find out what they charge for bulk metered mail, and they told me $0.65 per piece. Then, when I showed up, they told me that it was actually $.75 per piece because I had 200 pieces of mail. The person on the phone didn't say it depended on how many pieces of mail I had. When I complained to the person in charge that they should honor the quote provided on the phone since it was the end of the day and I no longer had the option to do anything else, she was totally obnoxious, telling me that I should have known to ask whether there were different rates for different amounts of mail. She further complained that they hardly make any money metered mail anyway as if that justifies not honoring the quote provided on the phone. read more

I'm afraid I have to keep learning this lesson over and over again. Things you should not do at the UPS Store: - Mail a package expecting to get a full and fair explanation of your options. Why? Because they are clearly trained to play up their own services and convince you that the USPS or other carriers (whose services they provide and are likely paid for) are inferior and cost more. Example: - Small Flat-Rate Priority Mail Box to Toronto, Canada from the US. I was told by the clerk that the cheapest rate was $32.95 and when I inquired which service (because of course they didn't offer that information) they said UPS. When I asked how much USPS was, they quoted me over $60 saying something like "for the equivalent service." When I questioned that, they just kept holding to their talking points. I took my package and left. When I got home, I printed my USPS label - $29.55 for priority mail. Things that are great to do there: - drop off your online shopping pre-paid returns - drop off your spectrum cable equipment - Mail something if you want UPS to ship it and/or you have absolutely no interest in trying to package it up - they have lots of packaging materials. The review would have been a 1 if it weren't for those things good services above. This experience is not a one-off. A few years ago, the same thing happened and when I pushed for the USPS price, the person reluctantly gave it to me (cheaper) and insisted that they couldn't guarantee the delivery date and why it was an inferior service. Another time, the same thing happened and I took my packages to the Post Office, and in 1/2 the time, with 1/2 the hassle, and at a lower price, I mailed my packages, had tracking, and they arrived on time. read more

UPS lost my documents that were shipped overnight. I finally got them 72 hours LATE. I show up to pick up the documents and guess what? The young counter clerk with zero customer experience training said "we charge $5 for pick up. We are a franchise. UPS lost your package . We didn't do it." I'm amazed my the lack of courtesy and failure to take responsibility. There is a complete absence of service recovery. It's not about $5. It's about doing what's right for the customer. Goodbye UPS. These folks are very nice people and I was in and out quickly. Face it, shipping isn't fun. Normally you have to stand in a long line. Not here, these folks really know how to get things done fast. The other day I was at the post office for the company I work for sending out a priority letter to a client. Ouch. Way too long a line for that poor woman working behind the counter. I have spent the last three weeks going back and forth with this UPS store over a package they lost. Let me clarify: I had a Nintendo 3DS that needed repairs. I had a prepaid shipping label that they printed off for me at the store, they packaged the system for me, and I thought everything was okay. Fast forward a week and a half, and Nintendo is telling me that they're still waiting on the package. It was being sent to Syracuse, NY... so obviously, it should not be taking this long. I check the tracking number, and lo and behold... the package is still at the store! It was never scanned, and it never left. I was floored. To summarize, UPS Customer Support told me it wasn't their problem, seeing as how none of their drivers picked up my package. It was the store's problem, so I contacted the store to try and sort this out. I was civil, right up until the point that the manager, Debbie Rancourt, continued to tell me that there was nothing she was going to do to help me. By this time I had already contacted Nintendo's CS, and even though this was in no way their problem, because they are an upstanding business, they agreed to start an investigation and do everything they could to help me find my 3DS. Fast forward again to the final day of Nintendo's investigation. Unsurprisingly, I received a call from Debbie asking for the model and serial number of my 3DS. Not sure why she couldn't have asked for this the FIRST time I called her for help, I'm assuming because Nintendo kept hounding her and she was trying to cover her own ass. Whatever the reason, her effort was minimal and never came of anything. Today, I contacted Nintendo again. They sent this investigation higher up in the company, and after three weeks of trying to find my package to no avail, they declared it lost and have decided to send me a brand new system. Now, the best part about this is that they contacted UPS, who claimed that they had record of the shipping label, but no record that the package was ever even dropped off. Which is ludicrous, because I have PROOF that it was, in the form my receipt! This UPS store continued to fail to take responsibility for the fact that my $350 gift was lost, and even now, I haven't heard a peep from them. Even though Nintendo has so graciously decided to make this right by me EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN NO WAY THEIR PROBLEM OR RESPONSIBILITY TO DO SO, I am not going to let this slide. I am furious with this store, and I would high advise against anyone using them to ship anything with a value over ten dollars. It's simply not worth the headache. read more

They are pleasant, thorough, professional, and happy to go the extra mile for their customers. The store is clean and well-organized.
