Extremely unhappy with the work and interaction with USA Leak Detectors. They came to my house and did find a leak under the house. They wrote up a report saying "Active leak was identified within the interior pressurized supply line serving the kitchen. Leak location has been identified and marked for corrective repair." The image attached is what they included which is inside the house. Since this company doesn't do repairs, I had Jazz Plumbing come in. Their technician said the report was insufficient and they'd have to do their own inspection since a piece of tape on the kitchen doesn't help them. "Prior to my arrival, the customer had received an inspection from another company; however, the information provided was not sufficient for diagnostic purposes. A full independent evaluation of the crawl space was therefore conducted." I called USA Leak Detectors to say I shouldn't have to pay them since their work was deemed insufficient. They said they'd call me back. They continued sending me invoice reminders, so I called them back, they said they'd have their manager call me, but nothing. Today I got a call from debt collectors threatening legal action against me. USA Leak Detectors said they called, left messages, and emailed me multiple times to try to work it out, but I have zero messages or emails from them. It's very possible they left emails and messages to someone, but it wasn't to me (and apparently they have the right contact information when it comes to debt collection). I was also told it's not their fault if the other company (Jazz Plumbing) wasn't capable of understanding the report. Yes they found the leak, but it's not worth the risk of getting an insufficient report, sloppy communication, and threatened with legal action. read more

The next week, they missed their scheduled appointment and when I called they said the technician had gotten held up by a gas leak. They rescheduled again for two days later and missed that appointment as well. When I called to ask what was going on, they essentially said they couldn't help me. I'm not sure why their story changed from Tuesday to Thursday. Complete waste of time and terrible customer service. I think if you're not an easy problem they don't want to deal with you. I had two different leak detection companies fail to locate the source of a water leak in a four story residential building. I was paying a contractor to be onsite, so time was money. And the leak was holding up the job being completed. USA Leak Detector came out the same day and located the leak within 90 minutes of being onsite. I hired USA Leak Detector to find a leak that was wasting 1,100 gallons of water per day. It was not obvious where the leak was because the water was going into a french drain. I will award a 3.5 star review overall and round-up to 4 stars. I was very pleased this problem was resolved as another company could not find the leak. However, some organizational improvements will significantly enhance the customer experience. Pros: * Answered phone on the weekend to organize an initial visit * Told me about the opportunity to petition the water company to refund a portion of the wasted water. I didn't realize this was possible. * Found TWO leaks which were responsible for the wasted water. Another company came out the day before and was unable to locate the source of the leak. * Techs were friendly and pleasant when they were here Cons: * Several visits (like 4 or 5) over 2 weeks were needed to find the leaks. I think some of the visits could have been eliminated with better planning. For example, be prepared to install a bib on the first visit so that helium tracing can be done immediately. * The techs consistently missed the time window I was provided by the office. I know they are very busy but someone in the office should do a better job setting expectations that can be met. My bill was reduced to compensate for the delays, but better organization is needed. * Communication was difficult because it was unclear which channel I should use (e.g., text, email, phone) and with whom. This was especially frustrating as the company did not proactively schedule follow-up visits and I needed to pursue them to follow-up. * The bill was sent at the end of the project and it was wrong (too high). The problem was quickly corrected but again organization needs to improve. read more

Suspected of Scam or gross incompetence. 1) My plumber could not identify a leak in my house and told me that it might be the hot water in the wall. So I rushed to hire the real expert USA Leak Detector. Their technician has the equipment and is supposed to find the exact location of the leak, right? They determined it was not the hot or cold water. Great. 2) So they proceed to check the train next to the hot/cold water line with their equipment. Identified it was the drain pipe. The drain pipe under a sink inside the bathroom wall goes down into the sewer line below the concrete foundation. So they are aware that the drain pipe behind the wall is a problem. Did they use their equipment to scan the wall for leaks there? 3) Instead, the technician marked the floor and ground as leak locations in the report - even though the drain pipe 3 feet above ground was cracked instead. In they marked the concrete foundation ground to be open and the sewer line repaired. Then their estimate came in as $6,249.00. I have received another two quotes to break the concrete foundation and fix the underground sewer pipe as per their same report: $2,800 and $3,800. It seems that it is very convenient for their technician to mark the ground instead of the above-ground pipe leak, and then proceed to give an estimate that is totally out of line with others. 4) Another plumber came and identified not the sewer under the concrete foundation, replaced the pipe, put in a camera, and showed no leak below the ground sewer. Frankly, now in retrospect, the sewer line is 3 feet below the concrete slab of the foundation, unless it's clogged which it was not, to have that much water coming out from the concrete to wet the floor seems unlikely. 5) Suspected dishonesty work, I called the company and asked for a refund because their technician did not find the leak location, yet marked a different and difficult location and gave me a quote that is way out of line with other quotes. I got an ear full of excuses, nothing but unstoppable excuses. 6) No refund nor apology was given. I should not have ignored the negative reviews here. read more

Overpriced and did not even correctly diagnose the leak. I had my floors sagging due to an unseen leak and called them up for leak detection. Their diagnosis was that there was a leak in the drain pipe in the crawlspace. Later I had a local plumber come to check and he correctly diagnosed the leak due to a broken coupling in the drain pipe coming from upstairs. The local plumber did the leak detection and fix for less than half the price these guys charged for an incorrect leak detection. read more

According to our HOA our pipes from our second floor unit go from the outside, up to our water heater, back down to the ground and under the first floor unit, then back up to our unit. I'm not sure how this Company got so many 5 star reviews but I'm writing about my experience with Paul in hopes of saving some of you from the headache that I had to deal with. I spoke with Doug to get a leak detector scheduled at my house and Doug was very pleasant and great to interact with as he was very informative, told me they had a really high success rate of finding leaks, and the leak detector will actually reenact the leak to prove where the leak was. I later, found out that Doug is not even the right person to be taking customer calls. He was a consultant the Company hired to do data analytics but he was filling in for the other person on leave so everything he said didn't count. Then comes Paul who shows up for leak detection work at my house. He was scheduled to come at 8am, but showed up around 8:50am instead which is fine as long as he finds the leak. He concluded that it was ground water and I needed french drain installed to redirect the water away from my house. I showed him that there are already french drain installed at my house and he said it wasn't done properly as the depth is not low enough and the pipe is too small. I asked him to include this in his report and he said he would. He also said he would detail out in his report how to fix this issue including the drainage system he would recommend, where to install them, and he'll even put in a quote estimate on how much it will cost to fix the leak. He told me I should get the report the same day, but if not the next day because they're busy which I was fine with. I had to follow up multiple times until I actually received the report many days later, and the report is complete BS. Their so call report is 4 sentences on their invoice and the description they put on the "report" is inaccurate. For mine, it states that the downsprout was not working properly when they were working and it had no mention of ground water. It also does not mention anything about the existing french drain not working properly nor does it include any details of how to fix the issue and estimate to fix. Basically, nothing he told me he was going to include in the report was included. read more

USA Leak Detector saved the day for our plumbing emergency. We had a leak that turned into some flooding so we had an emergency on our hands. They came and diagnosed where the leak was in the house and discussed how to fix it, they offered to do the repair, but I went with a different plumber. That was a nightmare. On the third day of realizing this plumber was not a good choice, the Leak Detectors came in to asses his work. They were prompt, checked every water source in the house, diagnosed the problem, prepared the estimate, left for materials, dismantled the subpar work, completed the job, and mopped their way out in under 7 hours. It's 1pm and my stress has dropped 100x thanks to these guys. Nothing like opening up my EBMUD bill last night to a gigantic bill. After freaking out and figuring out it was my sprinkler system in the back, I arranged that to be taken care of. Shut off the main line and checked the water meter just to be sure. Holy Cow... at 8:15am this morning the water meter was still spinning fast. My heart dropped and my stress went through the roof. Main line leak that runs under my driveway and landscape. Think twice before you use this company. If you are asked to pay for services up front, do yourself a favor and insist on paying only after they have performed the service. I am experiencing water leaks in my home and sought their services to take moisture measurements, and identify the like sources/causes of the leaks. I was asked to pay for services and sign documents up front before any work was done. Promises were made about using the latest leak detection equipment and providing a report with the moisture measurements taken and images from the use of their infrared camera. One technician went so far as to promise that they'd be coming back within the next 30 days to ensure the job was done right, including taking measurements on a rainy day. That did not happen. Instead, they made an appointment on a date that I said I could not be available. I arranged for them to have access and raced back from my appointment but they were already gone. They then sent me a written report devoid of any moisture or other measurement data and incorrect information about the location of the leaks. When I asked them to submit a corrected report, they said that they don't provide certification, which is not what I asked for. I simply wanted the report to reflect the measurements and images they took and indicate the likely locations/sources of the leaks. They did not. So rather than helping to solve the problem, they took advantage of the situation and just took my money. I've asked for a refund and would not recommend using them. read more

They were super knowledgeable and showed me how to check the meter outside my house in order to see if there's any leaks. We had a water leak behind my family room wall and the water heater closet. My carpet was soaking wet and we reported to the insurance right away.
