Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Manhattan…read more Arrived in NYC on July 3 at 6 am taking the red eye, an hour Uber from JFK, we finally get to the hotel, for some ungodly reason the AC was not on, it was it was cooler outside in the street than the lobby and this day as we made curbside @ JFK around 7am it was 87 degrees with 85% humidity plus a forecast of 102+ 90% humidity, news said it would feel like 113 - 115 degrees. Why am I telling you this? Because as I mentioned, the ac was not on in the lobby, well since no rooms were available, the front desk said help yourself to breakfast, going back to the breakfast room, it was similar to an add on greenhouse and with the waffle makers and all Buffet heaters, it had to be 115 - 120 degrees in the breakfast room. We did not expect a room when we arrived at 8am from our red eye from PHX. No Refrigerator, Don't recall ever being in a Marriott with out a fridge, regular size or minis No Microwave, Don't recall ever being in a Marriott with out a microwave Bathroom so small, when opening the door, you either see the toilet because it opened against the sink. Maybe should have had a slider door. Location is good, one of the worst Marriott Hotels I have ever been to

This is a decent hotel tucked in Chelsea not far from Herald Square…read more There's a small outdoor space before you enter which is nice in the city. The check in desk is to the left after you enter the lobby and there's a small snack and soda concession area to the right. There's a nice lounge area in the lobby as well just past the elevators. I didn't have a chance to see the breakfast but it was this area as well. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean. There's also a roof deck area with chairs and lounge areas as well which was nice.

The downstairs cafe is nice, and it does get packed in the lobby. Clean gender-neutral bathrooms. The room upstairs is nice, oddly positioned, but nice. There are no ceiling lights, only plug-in ones that are hard to move around the room. The water in the bathroom should run for about 5 minutes before even getting hot water. At night, my husband and I heard squeaking, so either it was a mouse or our imagination.

I went to the front desk, was told someone was working on fixing the air conditioning, and was offered a fan. We returned that evening to find the room had climbed to 87 degrees with no resolution in sight. We had no choice but to immediately check out and pay for a night at a neighboring hotel where the AC worked perfectly. The hotel's website explicitly advertises air conditioning as a room amenity with no disclaimers. What they don't tell you is that their building runs on an older 2-pipe system that is physically incapable of providing cooling during the heating season. This is a known issue, you can find multiple responses from their Director of Rooms on TripAdvisor acknowledging it, yet they continue to advertise AC without any disclosure. When I requested a refund for the night we were forced to leave, I was told it was too late because it was after 3pm. After escalating via their text system, they refunded the third night and some fees, but refused to refund the night that was actually uninhabitable. Their final response was essentially 'you're welcome to pursue any action you feel is appropriate.' If you are traveling with children or anyone with a health condition, book elsewhere. And if you do book here in spring, know that your room may have no ability to cool down regardless of what the thermostat says.

He scanned our ticket and we boarded. The bus was pretty full, so we ended up sitting separately. The above head storage bins are kind of tight, so I had to take something out of my over stuffed backpack to manage to wiggle it in. While my purse sat on my lap. I liked the foot rest and the hook on the handle on the seat in front of me. Trash bags were hung here and there. Looks like they also provided small bottles of water for us, though we had to grab those ourselves. The electric plugs didn't seem to work, but perhaps the ubs plugs in the ceiling did. Our driver was a great communicator. He set expectations so we knew that we had a 20 min rest stop before arriving at Baltimore, and pointed out things to help us to pay attention and to get back to the right bus. He warned us that given current construction that we were sure to arrive later than what our tickets said, and gave us his best eta given the circumstances. Another passenger later commented that the bus bathroom was clean. We kind of ended up being dropped off on a brightly painted bridge in the middle of no where - perhaps on Maryland Ave?, by a bus stop. A short walk from Penn Station.

As a librarian, you know I had to stay here…read more I went in fully expecting a fun, book-themed hotel and secretly wondering if it might be a little gimmicky. I was so happy to be wrong. The Library Hotel is every bit as charming as people say, but what really makes it special is the team. I arrived by car while the building was hidden behind scaffolding, and the front desk was incredibly kind and patient, helping guide me to the loading area so I didn't spend my afternoon circling the block. Housekeeping was so gracious and helpful throughout my stay, the bartender at Bookmarks very kindly helped my friend carry our drinks down to the room, and checkout took less than 30 seconds. Every interaction was warm, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming. The themed rooms are such a fun touch (I loved seeing how each one was inspired by a different subject), but I also have to give a shout-out to the practical things. I took a few work video calls from my room on the 12th floor, and the Wi-Fi was ridiculously good - honestly stronger than the Wi-Fi in my own house when I'm sitting five feet from the modem. Not a second of lag. The TV also had a ton of premium channels, which was such a fun surprise after long days exploring the city. And finally, a standing ovation for the real MVP: the air conditioning. New York was basically a sauna while I was there, and every time I walked back into my room I was greeted by the most glorious arctic blast. It was so good that my friends ended up wanting to hang out in my room and order dinner instead of going back out into the heat. Perfect stay from beginning to end. I can't wait to come back.

The last two rooms I have stayed in have had tearing or broken shades, dirty carpets, and worn down bathrooms. Also, getting a cab is a pain and the bellmen are not that helpful.
