Give these people a break! They are all hard working and from my personal experience... it's usually the customers who don't understand policies or have unrealistic expectations. Be wary if you are within the location of this post office. I requested a mail hold during the holidays this year and came home to find the mail carriers totally disregarded my request and the "mail hold" form located in my mailbox. Because of this, I had several packages stolen while I was out of town - the majority gifts from friends that cannot be replaced. I filed a mail theft complaint which I haven't received any response to other than a request for me to call them. However, every time I call, the phone just rings. It's evident that they aren't going to do anything about this and unfortunately USPS will likely not be held accountable for their own error. read more

For the life of me, I don't understand how their system works and why they can't make it more efficient with the technology available today. Some packages that are supposed to be delivered to me (no rhyme or reason which ones) end up getting funneled here instead and I have to pick them up. It's like I live at an address that they refuse to deliver anything but daily junk mail to most of the time... it's incredibly frustrating and causes a lot of unnecessary leg work for customer. If I wanted my packages shipped to the post office for pickup I'd buy a PO Box. To make it even worse, a couple times I've gone there to pick up with my tracking number and they have no idea where my package is and can't give me any clear info on it, but then it shows up at my doorstep a day or two later with no notification. The entire job of the federal postal service is to deliver to the tax-paying citizens that fund them, if they can't excel at that then I'm not sure they should continue to get government funding when private companies like FedEx and UPS are much more reliable. That being said, I disagree with most of the negative comments about their employees. I've had mostly pleasant interactions with the workers here. I'm sure they don't enjoy dealing with angry customers either, and it isn't their fault that the bureaucratic system is broken... a little civility goes a long way at places like the post office and DMV people! read more

This post office is located in a slight hidden area. On a side street that sometimes always have some sort of construction being done. Not a bad spot. Staff and service are ok. It would be nice if they had more knowledge regarding certain aspects of the post office procedures. But hey can't have two things that match every time.They do get you on your way fast. They refused to give me a receipt on a package. I had paid insurance on the package and they still refused to give me a receipt. The person at the window next to me was given a receipt but I was refused. When I asked for a reason they said "it's against our policy" and wouldn't address the fact that the person literally next to me got a receipt. I was upset because if something happened to the package I would need the receipt for the insurance - and they still refused. They were also incredibly rude and would not work with me . read more

This has to be one of the worst post offices in the history of post offices if one ever existed. The employees all seem to be in a bad mood everyday. If you call on the phone they answer like WTF do you want? This post office lost two of my packages within seven days. Both were sent registered or certified and sent back to the post office because they were unable to reach me at home. Each time I returned to the post office to retrieve the package it took several days to locate the packages, this is after many calls to customer service and lots of patient smiles. Yesterday, they found a package that was sent registered mail and took 4 days to locate. No one apologized or explained what happened they just tossed it to me and said Next. Privatize this agency and fire every single one of them. This place needs a major revamp. I would give negative starts to this location if possible. I have had several occurrences where my package gets held for delivery at the post office, and I'm pretty sure it was because they were too lazy to try to deliver the package since it was the end of day and the end of the week. I have tried repeated to pick up my package on the weekend and was rudely told that they don't hand out packages on the weekend and that they only do it from 9am-3pm during the week (who can make those hours if you work during business hours??). I tried to go during their pick up hours and was told that they couldn't do it because there was only one person at the front desk when I clearly saw that someone in front of me had received a package. And then they have the audacity to tell me that they're going to send my package back to the sender because I haven't picked it up yet. Steve is the man! I always go to this location and yes it can be very busy at times, but most of the staff is very polite and sweet. However, Steve went above and beyond. I recently had an urgent overnight envelope that was lost upon arriving in Los Angeles from the Midwest. Upon calling the post office to try and figure out where it was, Steve took my number, gave me his, and called me as soon as they found it and offered multiple ways to get it to me. No one ever knocked on my door. Then I looked online the next day to see when I can pick it up and drove my bike 10 miles to get it cause the window was supposed to be open till 4:30p. Some of the people inside act like they are alive. The others spend far too much time on terrible hair styles than caring about peoples needs. The mail carriers in this area are awful and even if you have the mail held- you dont get it - unless you say it was a check then somehow the two ppl behind me whose mail was "nothing there" some how mail was FOUND in some crevice of this office! Wow. I mean why should we even have federal laws regarding the mail? Why bother. This USPS is pretty abysmal. The line can be really long (over an hour during the holidays), but I'm not even counting that in my choice of stars, as I assume budget cuts have limited them to the one or two employees staffing a location with 6 counters. The postal workers at this location can be truly nasty to the customers and often without good reason. I understand their jobs are stressful, but I recently watched one employee reduce a middle-aged woman to tears all because she couldn't grasp how the priority labels worked. On separate occasions, I've also seen them declare that they can't accept cash, and then the other time, that they couldn't accept credit cards. And when I needed to file my passport paperwork and found that this location was one of the few to do declarations, I went in and was told, "Nope, sorry, can't help you. Head to the Venice location and they can help you." Okay... How about a WHY you can't help me? Sadly, it's the closest to my house and USPS offices are becoming harder to find, so I'm sure I'll have to return sometime soon. 2 stars, on par or slightly below average of my normal post office experiences. Parking aplenty. Kind of located in a construction/unforgiving traffic so it's a little difficult to get here (esp during rush hour, no one will let you turn from sawtelle onto exposition). I avoid going to the post office at all costs but couldn't today. The wait was disproportionately long compared to the line (ie, inefficient workers). The lady was really rude and unfriendly (not surprised). The worst part was watching the USPS lady yell at a struggling group of customers waiting to pick up their mail from hold. They weren't even being pushy; very politely,they just wanted either someone to be at the service desk or at least an estimate of time someone would arrive so they could make an informed decision to wait or go. It has been one week since I got confirmation that it was in effect but the carrier at this post office keeps taking all my mail (confidential and sometimes expensive) to the old address. The "manager" Lisa at this place is beyond incompetent. I waited for 25 minutes for her to come out of her office to tell me something that I already knew! I asked her to help me retrieve my mail from my PO Box b/c I couldn't find my key and she refused. Then she suggested I buy another PO Box if I wanted help! What the hell?? There has to be a way to get your mail. This is ridiculous. She told me she can't help me at all if I don't have the key. Meanwhile, all kinds of people were coming in and giving their names and retrieving their PO mail the entire time I was waiting. With assholes like Lisa on staff, its no wonder people "go postal." This has to be the worst service I have ever received anywhere. If she had been pleasant or helpful at all, I could have worked with it, but she had attitude from the second she approached me and was a total bitch after making me wait almost 30 minutes in an empty post office! i have been using this PO for over 10 yrs and have had very bad service, nasty postal workers.Nobody wants to help you, they see 6-10 people waiting in line with 1-2 people behind the counter- they continue talking to each and ignore everyone!! This is definitely one of the worst post offices ever. I have been there at 6:30 am for my box and the door was still locked (opens at 6am...supposedly) AND I have waited OVER AN HOUR to be attended to at the mail pick up station. Most of the time no one gives a rats ass and I have had to call and complain twice. That being said, the individuals I have met have been helpful and seem to try their hardest (like 3 of the 8 employees) but when they aren't there.....bad news bears, and the attitude is palatable.....I just decide to be nice and get respect, but they make it challenging...oh and they lose my mail A LOT...I would choke up a few more bucks and get a box elsewhere.... read more

I think this is the 3rd time in a year, that I've gotten an attempted delivery text that says "no one available to sign, left notice" The problem and the most insulting part of all this, I work from home. When the postal worker comes I hear them. I live in an apartment building and the 20 or so units mailboxes are right outside my door. When mail is being delivered it sounds like a factory metal clinking boxes being tossed around. They never came, and blatantly lied. I try to call this office that I know is the intended pick up location, and after the last several times I've called them, I realize their phone shouldn't exist. They do not ever answer... ever... If an employee is asked about it, they get indignant and tell me they don't have to answer the phone when it's busy.. Well.. Here's news to the postmaster: When I go in right after calling during the day, there isn't anyone in line. I have to wait for 45 seconds or more for them to stop complaining to each other about some customer that they disrespected. Once they get out of their negative banter and realize another crappy customer is in front of them, their eyes roll at me implying I should tell them why I'm there. Of corse they ask for the notice that was never left and when I explain this, and try to give a tracking number, they tell me I need the notice too. They will not help me basically. I go home and call the 800 go USPS # wait for 30 minutes and talk to a sweet person who really had been trained well in sympathizing with disgruntled humans. I am given a case #, which from experience I know doesn't help anything, and they assure me that the post office has been notified with the complaint... Oh great I am looking forward to the destroyed and misplaced packages I'm going to get now.. It's happens before, not exaggerating. I ask if they can call the dispatcher for the drivers and the sweet lady tells me they're not allowed to make outgoing calls. Wtf... They can spend money to the estate of Jimi Hendrix to create stamps of him in all of his drugged out teenage glory, but they cannot make outgoing phone calls... That's right it doesn't matter because they wouldn't answer anyway. This place is a disgrace to all customer service establishments, and even more so a disgrace to the taxpayers of low Angeles and the United States government. When will it get better? Even one star is too much because of a only guy who work there and treat the customers like we are his servant no respect at all, I was there yesterday to mail an envelope after stay 15 minutes in the line and went to his window, he gave me the certified form to fill it out that took a bout less than a minutes, just write the address and after I fill it out he send me back again to the main line and stay there another 15 minutes to get back to his window and after I protested why did you send me back to the line, he refuse to accept my letter too and another window took care of my mail, as a senior citizen I did not expect he treated me like this, it is a shame for USPS to have a such employee with this kind of behavior. read more

When you rate this place you have to remember that it's a post office. Sure the customer service isn't great and the lines can get long. I'd suggest using the machine when you enter if possible (it's usually empty). Parking is ample, but there's usually traffic all around it so pick the time of the day wisely. Glad I checked on Yelp to find out this branch is open to 6 pm! I'm surprised by the low stars though, maybe I lucked out when I've gone. It is slightly a hidden location wedged between a freeway and the old railroad tracks on Exposition, but has ample parking, an automated machine with no lines to buy stamps, and relatively helpful service every time I've needed it. What other post office lady is armed with USPS packaging tape to help me put together a box that I'm mailing to my grandma? I didn't even have to ask for help, she just came by and did it for me! Though my haphazard attempt to assemble the box might've tipped her off to my need... I usually go later in the day between 4-5:30 pm and there is usually a line, but it goes through within 10 minutes. read more

Their personal is not great but I will not rate on this. I like this post-office for the simple reason that they have an automated counter in which you can get stamps for packages and large letters rather then going to see a real mean none caring person :) Of course it will be broken from time to time, just to make your life better, but when it works, I'm usually in and out within 5 minutes which is great. read more

I love love love love love this post office! I went in and even with huge line I was greeted with a smile. I am currently moving out of the state so I was asking questions regarding purchasing an out of state PO Box. Carla was WONDERFUL!! She answered all of my questions and even helped me fill out and fax the application. I waited the required 3 days and when I received no info regarding the PO Box app I called the Post Office in Chicago. I was greeted by a less than accommodating woman who proceeded to tell me that they did not have a fax machine and good luck, then she hung up on me.. I called Carla at the Rancho Park Post office and she actually called Chicago for me and spoke personally to the lady who had been so rude to me. She then called me back with the details of my next steps and volunteered to help in any way possible. We have since decided to request a refund from USPS for the PO Box and go with Mail Boxes Etc, its more money but less hassle. If I were staying in California I would definitely go to this post office for everything. Oh and CARLA needs a BIG RAISE!!! read more

After frequenting this post office on and off for the past five years, I just had to give a glowing review of my excellent experience today. My previous experiences at this particular location echoed most of the other reviews on here, downright awful. However! Today the opening team was fast efficient and friendly and opened EXACTLY at 9am like they are supposed to. Shipped a package AND got in the pickup package notice line and got out in under 10min. If I could leave negative stars, I would. This is by far the most corrupt USPS branch I've ever had to deal with. Postal workers at this location steal items out of packages and steal money/gift cards out of anything that remotely looks like a birthday card. The postal workers that work at this location are rude, shady, miserable human beings. This location needs to be audited and investigated. They've been doing this to me and others for years now and there's nothing anyone can do about it. I have filed numerous complaints over the years and nothing ever changes. Someone stole some lime green $8 sunglasses out of my package today and it's just like why? Obviously $8 sunglasses aren't anything I'm going to cry about but it's the lack of being able to trust what items that I've purchased will actually get delivered. I've already told all my family never to send any sort of cards with money/gift cards because I know they'll get opened and anything with value will be stolen and I'll receive the empty card(if I receive it at all). No post office is ever really fun or enjoyable, but this is literally the worst post office that has ever been created. The staff members are so rude it's ridiculous. They also have approximately 1 person working at all times, so expect to wait a LONG time to get anything done. I had to create a separate UPS box because the post carrier "attempted" to deliver packages, then I received a notice saying that I had to come into the post office to get my package. Keep in mind they have the worst hours (mon-fri 9-4 and sat 9-3), so retrieving my package has been nearly impossible. This last time I sat in the front room from 7 am to 4 pm in order to hear the knock on the door. No knock and yet they said they delivered. They never scanned my package and cost me $200. Line was out the door that day and there was a pile of outgoing packages on the counter because the bin was full. I've mailed dozens of packages from this PO and always just left them on the counter. You can usually view tracking within an hour or next day at latest. This one was a $200 Poshmark sale. For those who don't know, Posh sends you a prepaid priority mail label when someone buys your item. You get paid after tracking shows delivered and buyer accepts the item. I dropped off 4 packages that day. 3 of them started tracking next day. The 4th never got scanned. A week later I stood in line 20 minutes and got yelled at for asking if they would kindly look for it to make sure it wasn't still there. Nope. No way. She snapped back and said everything goes out within 2 hours so it's gone and I'll just have to wait until it gets scanned along the way. Well, that never happened. So a week later Poshmark refunded the buyer, I lost the item and I never got my $200, Couldn't collect the insurance either because I couldn't prove it was shipped. Could be someone stole it off the counter because those angry workers weren't paying attention. Next time I have packages to drop off I'm going the the little PO on WIlshire in Santa Monica where there's almost always a nice friendly lady at the designated drop off counter who smiles and scans packages as soon as you set them on the counter. read more

This is the worst post office I've been to, and while an occasional delay or problem is understandable, every visit here was a fiasco. And I've been here many times. Not to knock USPS or government workers, but their customer service is pathetic. Expect a line of 10-15 people (30 minutes), after which you have a 50% chance of having to return. Despite the long lines, the employees have no problem conversing with each other or taking long coffee breaks, and rarely does more than 1 person staff the desk. I have had nothing but great service here and I've made at least 15 visits in the last 6 months. I havent had to wait long in lines except for around closing. But if you come at lunch till like 2 it's really mellow. FYI Pickup for packages closes at 4:00 (different hours from the shipping services), and it's at the counter to the right of the shipping services. read more

I have lived abroad where postal workers get paid very little but they still do their jobs with dignity. At this postal office, however, you will find the rudest, laziest, verbally abusive workers. I had a question and approached this middle-aged, gray-haired, chubby African-American woman. She did not have any customers but was just looking down at the cash register. In my most polite voice, "excuse me, I have a question". She yells" I am busy right now" Me; "oh". Wait, is this a nightmare or was I just yelled by someone who is there to provide customer service?. Still politely asked to speak with a manager, and of course, no manager was available. What a horrid situation. USPS is bankrupt because of employees like this African-American woman. After experiencing this kind of service from postal workers who act as if they are not getting paid, I am completey switching to UPS. Forget USPS and let all branches close--I am happy to pay more for better service. The death of USPS is this year, at least for me.
