Completely gross, unprofessional, and disrespectful treatment by an employee named Alexis at your post office during a scheduled passport appointment for my 9-month-old child. We arrived fully prepared with all original documents (Social Security card and birth certificate) for what should have been a straightforward and positive experience. According to your website, this location provides passport photo services, so we did not bring photos. There was even a photo backdrop visible on site. When we asked if photocopies of our documents could be made, Alexis responded by rolling her eyes and answering with visible disgust. From that point forward, her attitude escalated into openly rude and hostile behavior. When we asked about passport photos, she dismissively told us to "go across the street" without providing a business name or clear direction. When my husband asked for clarification, she responded with more attitude, saying, "that's why I'm giving you this paper," instead of simply answering the question. When we asked if we could return after getting the photo and still be accommodated, she responded in a condescending manner, as if we had asked something unreasonable. Her tone throughout the interaction was disrespectful and unnecessary. After we voiced concerns about her behavior, she then asked for my ID in a confrontational tone--"do you want to give me your ID?"--as if I had refused to provide it, even though it had not been requested from me earlier. It felt as though she was shifting blame onto us rather than properly guiding the process. She then went to the back after having heard us address her attitude to her coworkers and to her directly. When she returned literally 20 minutes later, she was overly cheerful with the customer behind us and made a loud, sarcastic comment to the next customers--"thank you for reading the application directions"--clearly within earshot of us and in a tone that was obviously meant as a jab. Other employees present were polite and even acknowledged that this behavior is typical for her. I requested to speak with a manager and waited approximately 15 minutes, but the manager refused to come out, claiming to be in a meeting. I was given a name and a general phone line, which either went unanswered or was picked up and immediately disconnected. This entire experience was unacceptable--especially for a scheduled appointment involving an infant. This should have been a simple and positive process, not one involving hostility, sarcasm, and lack of basic professionalism. Employees representing the United States Postal Service should be held to a higher standard of conduct, particularly in customer-facing roles. After leaving, I read all of the one star google reviews specifically talking about this same person. How does someone like this have a job, let alone for the government???? read more

No parking 45 spots in a lot reserved for the USPS branch -- and the locals steal most of them while shopping/eating/working in the area. How do I know this? 2 separate trips in two weeks, once in the morning and the other in the afternoon. All 45 spots were taken. Less than 12 customers (11 and 9 on my two visits) in the building. Yes, I counted the people and the spots in the parking lot. Obviously USPS isn't going to monitor their parking lot for violators, so this is more of an FYI review to warn people before visiting (you will most likely need to park in the pay lots on either side) vs. a complaint about the people. read more

In a nutshell: Avoid this passport service desk like the plague!! I have met many people who really hate their jobs, but the woman who works the passport desk gets the top prize ever. Ever. If you love getting into screaming matches, this is the place for you! If you just want to apply for a passport without dealing with toddler tantrums from adults, go elsewhere. I don't ever really post reviews, but this situation was truly extraordinary. I had an appointment, all necessary documents, I arrived 20 mins early as advised by the USPS website, and I was polite at all times. To be clear, there was no one being helped before or after me: I was the only one that approached the passport service desk for the two hours I was there: this woman was not swamped or busy, she was scrolling on her phone the whole time. I approached the desk and in a very friendly and polite manner said that I have an appointment at 1:45pm. She looked up from scrolling on her phone and rolled her eyes. Then, she tried to convince me that I didn't need to come in but that I could do the application online. I told her that I tried, but because my passport had expired a long time ago, the USPS website told me that I had to come in person. She rolled her eyes again. Then, she asked me for photocopies of my ID. I said I didn't bring photocopies of my ID, but that I had photocopies of my birth certificate, etc. and then she flipped and literally screamed "You don't have ID?" and I was very taken aback but responded, "no I do, I just didn't bring photocopies of it, but I have photocopies of other proof of -". At this point she cut me off and literally screamed in a completely silent post office "I don't care what somebody has told you", and I said "not somebody, your website," she screamed (like literal meltdown screaming) "I don't care!". At this point, I thought, OK this woman is mentally not ok. I said "Miss, there is no reason to scream, please calm down." She screamed even louder in my face "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!" At that point, I honestly thought, all right, this person is completely mentally unstable and there's no point in trying to continue a conversation. So I just calmly said again "I have an appointment at 1:45 for a passport application, here are all necessary documents," and handed her the pile. She took the documents, disappeared for 20 mins, then came back and again screamed "SIT DOWN!" I said "I'm all right, thank you, will it take a long time?" She said she doesn't know,"so SIT DOWN!" I really thought then that somebody must have broken up with her that morning, or something must have happened to her before work that day that shook her so badly that she was having a nervous meltdown, but nope. Not at all. If you scroll through and read other reviews posted here, you will see many other people complaining about how this woman treated them when they came in, so this is how she acts all the time (same description every time: black-rimmed glasses, long braids, woman who works the passport service desk.) Considering this post office location got so many bad reviews just because of her behavior and they have obviously done nothing about it, I really doubt they will in the future, so I can only warn everyone else: save yourself the unpleasant experience and go to any other location but this one. P.S. I did receive my passport, so I did have all necessary documents as per the USPS website, so the screaming meltdown really was completely unearned and unnecessary. read more

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE !!! Most days NO mail is delivered though we have notification that there is mail that we should be receiving through INFORMED DELIVERY". We have had 3 checks stolen or dumped somewhere with no recourse. We are told by the postal authority to just "cancel the checks". When we mentioned all of this to the personnel, they merely smile and say that they know about this but there is nothing they can do about it. "It all goes downtown for sorting." We were told that the reason that we don't receive regular mail is that the mailman for our delivery is "out quite often and never comes in on Mondays" !!!!! This place is utterly horrifying in terms of service. I came in this morning at around 10 am to get my passport renewed as I had an appointment, I had photocopies and originals of the necessary documents. The giant lady was sitting behind the desk and was on her phone, as I was handing the documents to her she asked for an ID for which I handed her my passport as the ID options included a current/old passport book and instead of explaining why my passport wouldn't work as a valid form of ID she proceeded to start getting very aggressive so I stepped out to call my father to see if he had any advice and in the meantime I had found the page where it said a passport is perfectly fine as a form of ID, I proceeded to show her the section where it stated that, and she got in my face, I was only scared because I thought she was gonna crawl over the counter and eat me, and she started to say "Oh so you're gonna tell me how to do my job?" followed up with "I have already read that paper so you're not telling me anything new." Then she proceeded to waddle to her coworker in the back and say to her whilst pointing at me "This little girl wants to tell me how to do my job" and her coworker responded to her with "Was she even born here?" I was standing there in shock and she waddles back over and starts saying "You're 21 and you don't have an ID? Your parents should have made you get a license." Mail seems to go missing a lot no matter if you live in a secured building or not. Thieves are EVERYWHERE these days, even working at the post office. I decided on getting a PO Box with hopes to avoid getting my mail stolen however, I wasn't so lucky. I purchased a $350 Jogger pet stroller and got notification via email that it had been delivered. I drove up to the post office, retrieved the yellow slip out of my PO Box, take it to the blue window excited to pick it up and guess what?? The lady who is ALWAYS at the window claimed she couldn't find it and for me to come back in another week because maybe it hadn't been scanned in yet. I asked why I would have a yellow slip (knowing that I hadn't ordered anything else and was expecting only one thing being this stroller). I told her I had proof it was scanned because I had gotten an email stating it had arrived. She huffed & puffed & gave me some BS excuse as to why she wasn't able to find it. I asked WHY was a yellow slip out in my box then???? She was totally flustered & said it was her writing but she couldn't remember putting it in my PO Box. Umm... excuse me, what?? IT WAS PUT IN THERE BECAUSE MY STROLLER ARRIVED. I got tired of listening to her BS excuses and decided to come back in a week. I went back in a week and got the same runaround, this happened for a total of five weeks. Each time she claimed that she couldn't find it which was shocking to me being that it was a 32 pound box. You really CANT MISS a 32 pound box even if your vision impaired, it's LARGE. Come to find out from the manufacturer that the stroller was not delivered in a brown box but in the actual product box with a picture of the stroller on it. Hmm, took about 2 seconds for me to realize, oh! It got stolen by somebody who works there! The delivery slip was signed for when it was dropped at the dock at USPS, a yellow slip was given and then... MY PACKAGE WAS STOLEN from someone WHO WORKS AT THE POST OFFICE. Evidently they looked it up and saw how much it was and decided to steal it. Yep- STOLEN AFTER it was delivered, signed for & in the possession of USPS. I have a good idea who it was because there are only 3 people that were involved once it got dropped off but, of course I don't have solid proof. The only proof I have is that it was STOLEN by a USPS employee once it was dropped at the dock. STEALING MAIL. Isn't that a felony??? Side note: Aside from thieves stealing mail, they jack up the price for my PO Box every 3 months and the place is ALWAYS a mess. They removed the trash cans from the interior and it seems nobody EVER cleans the place. You'd think because it's in Brentwood it would be a decent post office but, it's definitely the worst in the area. read more

Wow. The two women who handle the Passport situation here are amazing. They were kind and patient with us, when we didn't know what we were doing! We came in to get our Passports renewed (which you don't need to go for in person, it can only be done by mail), and they helped us out with that. Pro tip: make sure you have all of your documents filled out and ready to go, and make sure you have a copy of the front and back of your drivers license. I wish I knew the names of these gals, but they were there a couple of years ago when my kid got their Passport, and super helpful then as well. read more

Please DO NOT put any mail in the mailboxes at the Brentwood Post Office, located at 200 S. Barrington Avenue. Last week on 3/19 @ noon I went to the post office, parked and got out of my car and put several bills and personal correspondence in the mailbox. All of my mail was stolen by a postal employee. To be clear I placed my mail into one of the new secure mailboxes that you can only put two or three letters into at one time, they are emptied four times daily. I mailed over $6000.00 in checks - 8 checks paying bills. Two of the checks were presented to my bank and one of them (for over $1500.00 cleared) the check was made out to a business and there was NO endorsement on the back. Also, I mailed 6 cards - for the Easter holiday, all stolen as well. I have filed a report with the Brentwood Post Office, the Postmaster General the police and of course my bank, all of the other checks now have a stop payments and my account is now closed and a new one opened. If you have had similar issues please let me know. If you mailed anything in one of the postal boxes at the Barrington Post Office since 3/19, be wary and make sure your checks were cashed by the correct payee. The employees who work in the front are the laziest bunch I have ever seen, they are aware that they have a government job and can't be fired. Clearly just a place to park their butts and be rude, ignore the customers and use their phones ALL day long. read more

Review of passport application experience: I arrived about 13 minutes early for my appointment. Walked to the service window and was asked for ID and application package. The person just after me at the next service station was doing the same. My package and hers was handed to another clerk and we were both asked to have a seat. Within a few minutes I notice another person had been given the same instruction, and there was a seated couple who were clearly waiting as well, they had arrived before me. Made me wonder how many people they book for passport at one time? It's 2 minutes before my actual appointment time and there are 5 of us waiting. Worst experience ever, i found online that package sent from oversea (cost me 150 dollar to send) delivering on 22nd of jan 2024, they left the notice because i wasnt there, i was at home , but i thought i just missed it. Went online to reschedule, and i did on 25th - was home all day of rescheduled date and day after, online update never changed and no delivery. On saturday i received a call saying they will deliver today, waited front of my room (live in aprtment), i received a text saying i missed it again. No knock on door, no call or text to meet downstair, just left the final notice on mailbox. Called agent, person told me since i received final notice package is going back to sender, and because it saturday theres nothing i can do... delivery person never actually try to deliver this, and agent did not help ,e at all at csc. I am so upset. I went to have my daughter's passport renewed on July 10th, 2023. We had an appointment for 10am. We arrived at the Post Office for our appointment 15 mins early. When 10 am rolled around, the employee who was processing the passport applications was chatting with her co-worker for 10 mins. So we were waiting and waiting for the woman to stop chatting and call us to the window. She finally called us to the window. I gave her all the necessary documents to renew my daughter's passport. We left thinking the passport renewal was all set and done. Today, I get a letter from the United States Department of State, stating that my document stating that I am the mother was NOT PROPERLY DOCUMENTED. I GAVE the woman my drivers license. I thought she did everything she needed to do to process the passport renewal. WHAT THE FUCK DID SHE DO WITH MY DL WHEN I HANDED IT TO HER????? Nice people, but unfortunately you can't print shipping labels or ship packages here. Weird thing for a post office to be lacking and frustrating. Then if you go across the street to fedex like they direct you too, it's impossible to print a shipping label there as well, and they'll charge you a $15 min for credit card transactions. This is the reason people hate the post office. read more

Absolutely terrible. Would give them 0 stars if I could. I've had the displeasure of coming to this post office for over a decade and it's only gotten worse over time. The only thing worse than the service is the attitude of those who work here. The majority are condescending, clueless, and disrespectful to customers, although there are a few good eggs. I mailed a package to Texas and paid so that it gets there in 2 days, my package didn't get there til over a week later and in TERRIBLE condition. Granted they have no control over that, but they were extremely unhelpful with my trying to ship it. I was told they close at 5 and if I rushed I could drop off my package by then for the last call so to speak. I arrived with 5 mins to spare and the employee (who I will not be naming for her own sake) locked the door on me, proceeded to ignore me holding a very large box, regardless of people still being inside and having tome left. I just waited patiently outside the doors to be courteous trying to get her attention. Someone much less patient than I slid in as someone walked out and this same employee decided to get in this patron's face and scream at her repeatedly INCHES from her face telling her to get out.. without a mask on. Absolutely disgusting behavior both in general and from a public safety perspective. I sent a package in Santa Monica, hoping to avoid the Great Barrington Reef, because packages that pass through this location are doomed. Observe how my package went from Santa Monica to Santa Fe Springs by way of Detroit. This has happened to my packages more than twice.
