I've been here 3 times and now I must write about! This place serves some delicious Uyghur food and I can't stop going back. My go to is the lamb dumplings. It is juicy, tender, and has a rich umami taste. It comes with chili oil which, pairs so well with the dumplings! I've also tried their King's Noodles which was spicy and salty- hits the cravings. I liked it because of the long chewy noodles. For drinks I've tried their Uyghur Milk Tea and Pomegranate Juice. Both were amazing. The milk tea has a light saltiness to it which is comforting (not my cup of tea only because I like my tea sweet- totally a personal preference and nothing against the Uyghur Milk Tea). The service was great--I was greeted right as I walked through the door, which immediately set a welcoming tone. Since I was getting takeout, I was asked to scan a code and place my order that way, which was quick and easy. While I waited, there was such a wonderful energy in the space--it felt lively and inviting. I ordered the dumplings and lamb, and both were absolutely delicious. Uyghur Noodle King offers halal Uyghur dishes. I dined during their "Grand Opening" on Valentine's Day. I was pleasantly surprised by a free rose! Very fun surprise. It was my first time trying Uyghur food, and their menu photos exactly matched the dishes, which was super helpful. The server also gave recommendations and answered any questions we had very thoroughly. Here are my highlights: -Dry Sauteed Chicken: Not too oily, quite crispy, but a tiny bit dry. It had the right amount of spice and I'd order it again. It was a good portion to share between two people. - Homemade Dumplings: As a lamb hater, I was surprised to find myself really enjoying these. The spicy dipping sauce really complemented the flavors. They were juicy and I enjoyed that there were so many! - Uyghur Samsa: The crust was thin but I wish it was a little flakier. I enjoyed it but I'd be on the fence re-ordering due to its size. - Chive Pocket: There was a great ratio of filling to contents, however, the dough was too dense and dry for me. I'd skip this next time. - Kashgar Cold Bean Jelly Salad: I love cold bean salad, and this one was no different! It's a bit more sour than what I'm normally used to and has chickpeas. I'd recommend trying it if curious! The interior of Uyghur Noodle King is cozy and casual. I felt like portions were great for the cost. I wish the tables were a little bigger to accommodate more comfortable dining and next time I'd sit further inside to avoid the cold wind whenever the door opened. Greatly enjoyed our pre-show dinner at Uyghur Noodle King in University City. Friendly service (though with only two servers, be sure to flex your flagging arm) and great food. The TV showed Uyghur food being prepared in the traditional manner in northwestern China, which was fascinating and informative. We tried the stir-fried noodles and lamb dumplings. The dipping sauce for the dumplings is nice and spicy. We asked for a ramekin of soy sauce and added a bit to both the noodles and the dipping sauce. Loved the hand-drawn noodles--perfect texture. Lamb kabob- worth it. Good spice and cooked well Big plate chicken- a classic! The noodles are on the bottom and sop up all the flavor. This dish as a touch of spice from the peppers but I wouldn't say it was spicy. Chicken was very tender Uyghur special polo- good but a bit oily. There's some base flavor in the rice so every bite is flavorful. I'd say if the carrots were a touch sweeter or larger pieces, I would've enjoyed it more Uyghur samsa- flaky exterior with a flavorful filling. I really liked this!! At first we tried going here one Saturday around 5pm. This was during Penn students' Winter break so we assumed it'll be okay. Unfortunately, there was only one worker running around and about 20 people were squeezed in the front waiting for the table. We gave up based on the condition. We decided to give it another try few weeks later, but on a weeknight around 5pm. We were able to get the table for 4 people, ordered various food (Uyghur special pilaf, carrot salad, stir fried noodle, big plate chicken, homemade dumplings, and Uyghur milk tea). Everything was good, but my favourite was the stir fried noodles. Carrot salad is a bit spicy, but good, and milk tea is savoury with salt in it. The service was very friendly and helpful. The employee explained when we came last time the owner was the only one serving and bussing. She apologized to us. There are other dishes I want to try so I definitely want to come back. read more

Small but solid menu. The place was quite busy and still feels relatively new. You do not often see Uyghur food represented, so I was really excited to try it. The space is tastefully decorated and very clean. I ordered the Uyghur milk tea and the lamb soup, and my friend got the chicken skewers. Unfortunately, possibly due to the weather or how busy it was, everything came out lukewarm. Nothing was hot, which was disappointing. That said, the flavors were really good. The lamb soup was extremely generous with the meat. Huge bones that honestly made an impact. It felt like a tomahawk steak in soup form and was very well priced for how much you get. The broth was rich, deep, and clearly slow-simmered. You could taste the collagen and marrow, with a comforting, savory base balanced by light sweetness from the dates and goji berries. It truly tasted like real bone broth. If it had come out hot, it would have been perfect. The Uyghur milk tea was excellent. It is not your standard sweet milk tea. It is slightly salty, creamy, and very comforting. It comes in a plain bowl, so do not be fooled by how simple it looks. The flavor is anything but plain. Service was the only downside, though it is hard to fully blame them since they seemed short staffed. I did notice other tables getting water while we did not, possibly because we ordered soup and milk tea. We did ask for it eventually. I also wish the milk tea came with a spoon instead of having to drink directly from the bowl. We ended up using our soup spoons, which was fine. Overall, the food itself was strong. It feels like a place that will only get better with time once they fully get their rhythm. I would definitely come back, especially hoping everything comes out hot next time. read more

Tried it out for takeout for lunch. I tried the lamb skewers, big chicken dish and stir fry noodles. All 3 were tasty and definitely different tasting than other Chinese cuisines. I most liked the lamb skewers then the stir fry. Wasn't huge on the chicken although the small was still a big portion. Would like to return and try other dishes. I've seen this place a ton on social media so I had to try it out for myself. The flavors here are bold and spicy but I would expect nothing less. Their big plate chicken was super spicy and numby, and their cumin lamb was super fragrant pairing well with rice. Their lamb polo was also pretty good but was on the milder side of flavor but definitely pairs well with the more savory dishes. The service was also supreme with our waitress being super attentive and patient when explaining the menu while also giving us free dates for iftar. Ok so my review is based on one GrubHub order for my daughter and me. First the good. The resto packed the order extremely carefully. Everything was tasty. It went to the trouble of texting me that it would not be delivering one of the dishes I ordered and adjusted my bill. Now the bad. The food seemed expensive for what I received. Presentation was minimal in the extreme, for example the tasty (but not extraordinary) lamb kabob was delivered as a pile of small meat pieces in a dish. That's it. No rice no noodles no garnish nothing. This pattern was repeated in every dish. The menu is very small. Dishes are spare: a side dish of noodles came with no sauce or flavoring at all. The packing aside, the delivery seemed amateurish though well-intentioned. An unusual carrot salad I ordered was not delivered. The food was a nice alternative to Chinese, much less salty or oily. But I won't be ordering from this resto again until I hear it has upped its game. A sorry denouement: I didn't receive another one of the dishes (it hadn't notified me about this one) and I texted it for a refund and the restaurant told me to contact the driver or GrubHub. This was my first time eating Uyghur food or even hearing about the Uyghur people. It was a cute little place and the young lady who sat and served us was so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered the naan, lamb kebab, stir fry noodles, and a samsa and a hot milk tea. Everything was so good. The bead was so warm and soft. The stir fry is easily shared between two. Chat, it was all so good we went home and watched a video on the history of the people which is also beautiful and reflected in the vibe and the food which is like a Turkish Russian and Chinese fusion. Large plate chicken does not worth the money. My wife and I ordered it with 2 orders of skewers and still walked away hungry. What we ordered should feed 4 adults easy according to the waitress. Lucky for us, it's right in between of bakery and ice cream shop. Not very busy. Around 4/5 tables during lunch hour in the weekend.
