I originally came for the Rou Jia Mo but the waitress encouraged me to try the Liang Pi as well and I'm happy to have tried something new. Wanted to try a different regional Chinese cuisine, and this spot is excellent in specializing in Shaanxi-style dishes. I ordered two of their most popular items via delivery: the Chinese Hamburger and their Biang Biang Noodles. Unfortunately, my food arrived a bit colder than expected. I'm confident it would be tastier ordering in the restaurant itself, however. The bun for the 'hamburger' was still tasty, but the minced pork could've used a bit more salt. I wish there was a bit more bok choy in the noodles as well, but the flavor profile was great. The ginger scallion sauce didn't feel overpowering, and my noodles were tasty and had the consistency you expect. So this is a place I was excited about visiting even before I moved cause where I used to live there was no Xi'an style cuisine. it was something I used to make in culinary school, and at home, but never got too many chances to try it made by a pro aside from traveling. I had the Chinese Chinese Hamburger with Spicy Minced pork or Rou Jia Mo (I believe is how it's called.) The offer a not spicy braised version as well I'd like to try. This was a majestic sandwich, the spice is very mild making it attractive to anyone. Just a kiss of chili, but nothing serious. It's cut like a pocket for the meat filling to be put inside. The joy is really the mix of well cooked meaty and fatty bits that meld in the bread to become meat magic. You will have a little extra crust of bread, perfect for soaking up some sauce or soup. If I had this at home I might add some Zha Cai or Kim Chi for zing, but it doesn't need it I am just a pickle fiend. I also ordered the Sliced Beef and Tripe with Tendon in Spicy-Hot Sauce which is something I crave whenever I see it on a menu. It's perfect here, just the right amount of chew to awaken your senses. Haven't tried this place in quite a long time. Probably my last as the quality, value and flavors were sorely missing. The Scallion pancake has next to none of scallion, so it was dry and cardboard. The Xian Pancake was an over priced hash brown. The Entrees were worse. The garlic pork was a pitiful portion of thinly sliced bacon flavor which the garlic sauce was so bland. But so disappointing. We raised the problem to the waiters and they called the boss to apologize to us. We were given a 10% discount, which would have been acceptable. This restaurant specializes in dishes native to Xi'an, a city/capital of Shaanxi Province in Central China. Xi'an Sizzling Woks is an unexpected love of mine. I came here after my friend told me that they have the best spicy beef noodles in Philly Chinatown. Their noodles are really great!!! The noodles taste and look like they're made in-house or at the very least, locally. They have a great chewy, smooth, and yummy texture and taste. The soup broth was teeming with flavor. I loved the little bits of vegetables, meat, and other ingredients. It was like a bowl of delicious, homemade noodle soup. The portion was enormous! My friend and I shared it with two appetizers and it was more than enough. We also ordered the Xi'an Liang Pi and the Tea Smoked Duck. The Liang Pi was not something we were familiar with and when it came, it wasn't what we expected at all. However, it was quite good once we passed the initial impression. The duck was delicious and smokey. It had a great deal of meat, unlike many of the other tea smoked ducks we've tried. Definitely going back for more one day! The staff was nice and more than willing to answer any questions we had. However, we did not appreciate that they began to mop the floor while we were still eating. I found this to be so unacceptable that I refused to add the rice to my order and instead went home and made my own. That should never happen. As for the food I ordered, it left much to be desired. I have had this dish many times in many places. Whether they call it Chongqing Chicken, La Zi Ji or simply Chicken with dry hot peppers you should expect certain elements to be present. Crispy chunks of fried chicken, a heaping pile of peppers, sliced scallions and garlic and sesame seeds. I got chicken and peppers but the rest was noticeably absent and very much missed. The chicken was prepared nicely enough but the flavor was not consistent across each bite. Some morsels were a little salty while others had a more sweet taste which I somehow preferred. I normally go to this place for lunch take-out, and the food is usually decent and priced fair. However, I don't think I'll be going back after the terrible customer service experience I had today. I placed an online order (through the restaurant's website) for a scheduled pick-up time. I arrived at the restaurant at the exact time my order was scheduled to be picked up, only to discover that my order had not even been put in and was not prepared. The woman at the front counter didn't speak English too well, and it was clear she sat on multiple online orders that had come in and did not send them to the kitchen. Even when I walked in there was no one at the restaurant and the woman didn't even acknowledge me as she was too busy looking at something behind the counter. There was no apology or explanation for my order not being put in and prepared by the scheduled pick-up time, and I ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes for my food - which was an issue because I was late to a work meeting as a result. If a business messes up, at least have the decency to have some accountability, acknowledge the mistake, and apologize. read more

I made the terrible mistake of ordering out again because I truly enjoyed the food from here So....I place an order similar to the one I'd had the day prior (my total was also similar). delivery was over an hour away. When the delivery driver arrived at my door, he handed me a balled up piece of paper with what appeared to be my receipt. Inside of the paper (also balled up) was $1.76. This was confusing because I hadn't even given him any money yet. (I had two $20 bills in my hand to give him in exchange for the food but still hadn't given it to him yet) Now what's strange is that when I called the restaurant, I was informed that my total was $25. But when the delivery driver arrived, he said it was $30. When I finally looked at the crumbled up wet paper, I saw that the total was actually $28.24 including tax and delivery fee. After viewing the receipt and confirming that it was the correct receipt and order, I proceeded to hand him my $40 cash. He assumed I didn't want any change back at all and almost walked away with a tip of $11.76 But before he could fully trip me up, I asked him to give me change for my cash. He opens his wallet and says he doesn't have any. All he has is one $5 bill. I ask him what type of delivery driver walks about without change? And before he could even answer me, I handed him back his balled up receipt and the $1.76 he had given me. I take my $40 cash and I proceed to the corner store next door to make change for my bills. He stands at my door and looks on in disbelief. As if I was supposed to just hand over $11 extra dollars for my meal naturally. Lol smh When I arrived back at my door I handed him the $30 cash plus $1 for a tip leaving his tip at $2.76 ( being as though the total was $29.24). I politely asked him to hand me my food. He hesitated, almost holding the bag hostage for a moment before finally handing it to me. He then huffed at me and said, "huh? What's this? They told me you would give me $5!?" "I don't work for them I'm doing them a favor!!!" I said, "excuse me!? I maybe would have given you a better tip if you didn't just try to take it from me" ***Now, as a career server, I know how we sometimes assume that a guest has a pattern and think they may pay the same way and TIP the same thing most, if not all or the time. That may or may not always be true. In this case, He made the mistake of assuming he was going to get ALL of my change as his tip, or at least the same $5 tip I had given the previous driver. (They may have even coerced him to help them with delivery by telling him that I will tip well. Which they can't even judge because I only ever ordered from them ONE time.) When I originally called the restaurant I was told over the phone that my total was $25. My order consisted of, 1 order of scallion pancakes, 2 fried spring rolls, fried wontons with crab and cheese, and a tofu general tso. But when the delivery driver came to my door he told me that my total was $30 then proceeded to try and take my entire $40 for the trip smh. . Smh lmao I never felt so insulted in my life. I said to this person that he is lucky he got the $2.76 he got and that his service was horrible. And THATS NOT THE BEST PART!!!!! . About 10 minuets after I slam my door in his face and head upstairs to enjoy my yummy meal, I receive a freakin TEXT MESSAGE FROM THIS MAN that reads, " Thank you for your verbal abuse and just to let you know I did this for my courtesy bc they ask me to help so I'm sorry if I make you up set "don't worried I forgive you and GOD in JESUS name bless you always" SMMFH WHAAAAAAAAATTTTT!?!?? , I thought, Lmao smh sooooo I verbally abused you because I gave you HALF of the $5 you THOUGHT you were going to get out of me!? Bye sir!!!! So I kindly texted back, " You are lucky you even got a tip from me. I don't believe in Jesus. You can take your well wishes and hopefully your life improves enough that you don't need to force people to tip you as you struggle to make ends meet delivering food. Horrible service!!! " and then I said.. "And never did I say anything wrong to you. All I did was tell you that you weren't getting a five dollar tip. Very very very disappointed. Liangpi is very thick, and sauce is lack of flavor. Chili oils are almost without oil, only bad quality chilies. Xinjiang chicken, which they claimed their feature dish, seemed to be leftovers of a big batch. Flavor is okay, but it was cold when served. When we asked to warm it for us, it seems they put it in a microwave and returned it. Only the most outer layer is warm, the middle are still cold. We also ordered a stir fried veggie, worst among nearby restaurants. The waitress also the boss even reminded us to tip her in case we forgot. I regretted that we did tip her. I would rate this place 3.5 but yelp doesn't give 0.5. I went here with my friends before the attending the Chinese Lantern Festival. If you have a ticket to the festival, you will get 15% off your meal. (Disclaimer: this is valid for 2019. I cannot guarantee this for other years). The outside does look a bit sketchy but the interior is a lot better. There are plenty of tables to sit and chat. There is a decent selection of food to choose from, so there is something for everyone. The service was okay. They gave me the menu, took the order, and gave me the correct food. However it did take some time to get the attention of our servers for anything else other than that such as refilling water or extra utensils. The food itself was okay as well. I heard good reviews about the spicy beef noodle soup, so that is what I personally ordered. I felt it was overhyped. It was just regular noodles with a flavour kick to it. Today I ordered the Biang Biang for delivery. I put in an order in advance as I am working in an office , and put a time of " 4:15pm" and ordered it at 2:00pm. I got a call around 3:00pm asking if we wanted the delivery at 4:15pm or now. I told the lady we needed it at 4:15pm because we do not have an allotted lunch break until then. The delivery arrived promptly at 4:15pm which was much appreciated -- however, take a look at my newly uploaded biang biang noodles pictures. Every noodle is stuck together. I can pick up the whole bowl with one swoop of chopsticking. I've come to this place a few times and have always left satisfied. Most recently, I came here when I only had around half an hour to sit down and grab lunch. I ordered the cumin beef lunch special under the suggestion of one of the waiters and thought the beef was tender and tasty. I've been here two other times for dinner and while none of the dishes were mindblowingly delicious, I thought the food here was really authentic and decently priced. My two favorite dishes here are the: 1-Spicy Cumin Beef - which is less spicy than aggressively cuminy but overall wholly delicious. We all kind I'd throw around the phrase "bold flavor" but this is really a flavor that stands up and screams at you "I AM CUMIN" 2- Chicken with potatoes and noodles- this originally fascinated me solely because I can't think of many times I have seen potatoes in Chinese cooking. This thing is enormous and delicious. Small pieces of bone in chicken, potatoes and broad noodles in a spicy oil sauce. It's a bit complicated to eat.
