We walked in without reservation around 6pm and it wasn't super crowded (open tables both inside and outside), but did see other groups walk in throughout the meal. Food itself was solid especially at the price level, along with portions. While I ordered the Lamb Shish, my parter got the the Gyro. Both were good, but I preferred the gyro slightly over my dish. Mixed bag, all in all, and I'm glad we tried it, but unlikely to return. Food: up and down, as the potions were generous, but some dishes were far too bland (the bread and oil were literally both flavorless), others far too salty (the shrimp scampi could burst your blood pressure), some things a bit overcooked (the salmon was mostly white inside, grilled past the point), and just as a warning, in case it's not your preference, the falafel was chock full of herbs but not spicy (I prefer spicy rather than green). The saganaki was tasty, but just a bit rubbery. Service: our waiter was the best part of the experience, friendly, informative and jovial, without being cloying or phony in any way. Ambiance: we ate out on the front deck, but as you are looking either at the side of another building or a parking lot, it's hard to say they've got any ambiance, though they did the best they could with a poor location. Price for quality: just a tad high, even for Boca, given that things weren't cooked exactly right. I'm not going to lie, I was apprehensive about this restaurant. The previous restaurant in this location was not clean, it lacks good visibility, and wasn't a high volume location. Parking was okay, but I never felt comfortable after seeing the kitchen. Well, as Gomer Pyle used to say, "SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE!" Uzzo was not it's predecessor. It's clean, spacious, the kitchen is immediately visible upon entrance, and the husband and wife team are very welcoming. While the build out was nothing to get excited about, the food was. All Mediterranean food has similarities. Greek, Lebanonese, Israeli, Turkish, Syrian, they all have commonalities due to the regional offerings, but each executes the preparation in different ways. We ordered light. The opener was the Mix Appetizer Platter for $29.00. You get 6 bowls of different dips and spreads, which include hummus, babagannus, muhammara, spicy tomato, girit ezme, haydari. While my initial thought was that it sounded like a lot for the app, when I realized it was under $5 for each bowl, I thought it was a bargain. My partner and I had our favorites, but there wasn't a single one of them that I would have voted out. My favorite was the girit ezme, a pistachio-centric dish, but the muhammara was also spectacular. We the had the Iskender Kebab $23.95, which is homemade gyro served over fried pide bread topped with a fresh tomato sauce, yogurt on the side. It was good, but the apps overshadowed it. It's been a while since we've visited any new restaurants. Given that Dvash had a 2 hour wait due to "reservations"; we went a couple blocks down to the Uzzo Mediterranean Restaurant! Going inside; we were seated quickly, but things began to pick up during dinner service. For tonight we shared 1x turkish bread with 1x side of hummus, 1x lentil soup, 1x greek salad, and 1x meat platter (comes with adana kebab, meatballs, lamb chop, lamb doner, chicken shish). Moving on with my review, the food tonight was delicious! The bread that had came with our meal; served with a spiced oil; had a nice chew and bubbly texture! The hummus tasted freshly made; creamy savory blended chickpeas and nice surprise of spice. The lentil soup had been pureed, but wasn't lacking as it was flavorful! The Greek salad came with fresh veggies and a nice lightly tasting dressing; pretty skimpy on the feta though. The star of the show; the meat platter was very tasty; the meats were tender and well seasoned; especially loved the made in house gyro! Moreover, the service was very attentive tonight. Overall, glad to say, although a little pricey; that we identified another exciting Mediterranean spot around the area. Final verdict; 4.5/5 stars! read more

We had an excellent lunch here. My husband loves Turkish food having been stationed in Turkey many years back when in the Air Force. And he still remembers some words and phrases and enjoys practicing them. They have a large regular menu, but also have a special prix fixe lunch menu during the week. If you can go during the week, this is the best choice. And bring an appetite -- it's a lot of food! The 3-course lunch menu costs $19.95. The first course is a choice of soup or salad. There are three options. Then you choose an appetizer from 8 different options. And then the main course which has seven choices. While waiting for our food they served some thick bread with sesame seeds and a dipping oil. The bread reminded me of what is used for pide. And to drink, we had Turkish tea served hot in small glass cups. We requested some sumac spice on the side and used it liberally on our food. We both chose the Sheppard salad to start. This is a salad with chopped tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions, but without lettuce. It was quite crunch and refreshing. For my second course, I had the chickpea hummus -- creamy and topped with a bit of olive oil. My husband had the eggplant "babagannus" which was chunky and quite good, as well. For our main and last course, I chose their gyro. It was homemade -- the menu says "hommade" (!) and each sliced piece of the lamb and beef mixture was nicely seasoned and grilled. On the plate were some slice red onions, a grilled tomato and a spicy grilled pepper along with some rice pilaf and a small container of tzatziki sauce. It was some of the best gyro I'd had. My husband had his favorite, the adana kebab. This is ground lamb served as a long narrow strip and seasoned inside with some red chili flakes for a bit of a kick. His dish also had similar sides to mine. For dessert, we had another favorite of both of ours -- their kunefe. This was extra to the prixe fixe. But as it was one of the best examples we'd eaten - and we've had a lot -- it was well worth the price. The dessert is shredded filo with sprinkled nuts on top of a cheesy center. It was served warm over a sweet syrup. It was so delicious that we ate it entirely even though we were stuffed from the rest of our meal. I hope they do fantastically well as we are looking forward to returning and trying more of their authentic and delicious menu. This one is a definite keeper. read more

Great food - highly enjoyed our dinner and the baklava for dessert was amazing. Owner was super friendly and joked around with us the entire time! Only issues 1) the tablecloth was covered with dirt/dust from the over head vent and we had to request they give us a new clean tablecloth and 2) people were smoking at an outdoor table and we could smell the cigarette smoke at our table inside the restaurant. I love Mediterranean (Lebanese, etc) food and will drive to any restaurant featuring such - and for me this is a drive, like west of turnpike drive and it's even west of Boca Raton. This was one of the worst Meditteranian restaurants I ever tried. Ever. The mezzo sampler had six lackluster dips and all were underwhelming but the worst was yet to come as we made the mistake of ordering two beef dishes and both were waiter recommended. I believe one was Lamb Doner and the other was Lamb Shank (could have been Osso Buco) and both were dry and tasteless and I'm thinking how did these make it out of the kitchen? Our second time at Uzzo's. first time we sent back liver that was so overdone we couldn't eat it . On second visit last night, for over 100. for 2 people I was served 6 small breaded shrimp plus soggy rice and my husband was served lamb shishkabob which was not cooked on "grill" but in an oven which made the meat dry and unflavored and the side vegetables were cold I am amazed at the lack of taste and skimpy dishes served. Uzzo, which espouses to be a Mediterranean restaurant should be cooking on a grill and not in a conventional oven. We went there with high hopes. Drove all the way down from Palm beach and wasn't too happy with the food. The food was ok in taste but the portion was sooo small as compared to other Mediterranean restaurants like AlNatour, Lamarsa, Assalam, Safraat etc. this restaurant food was very expensive for the portion they serve so if you want to eat properly you better order separate platters for each and even those may not be sufficient. They had this mix grill platter and we asked them how many people can eat and they said two can eat easily but when we got the food it was so small there was no way. Maybe only good for one person and one kid but definitely not two adults. The rice and meat portion was so small. In short ok taste, expensive food and less quantity. This was a turn off for us and we will never be going there again unless they up their portion to compliment their price. read more

The food was incredible here, we got a meat sampler and each piece of meat was seasoned incredibly and cooked well. I also highly recommend the stuffed cabbage. The staff was friendly and the spot was easy to get a table on a Saturday night. While the food was a bit pricey, it's definitly a place that the food was worth the price. Uzzo Mediterranean, the new Turkish restaurant in Boca (8221 Glades Road, previously Jimmy the Greek) A little pricey but the food is really good. We got: Turkish eggplant and zucchini salad, which is listed as "Shaksouka" but is nothing like the Israeli version. It's good with the traditional Turkish bread served at table. Vegetable Pide which is the traditional oblong flatbread. Was nice and crispy, gooey cheese, needed a saltier topping -- next time I'm getting it with the pastirma or the sujuk (spicy lamb/beef sausage) Iskender (tomato sauce and yogurt) kebab made with house made doner, highly recommended, not salty, excellent thick yogurt for dipping, one of the best versions I've ever had. Only complaint is they are not using Turkish chile pepper on the side, they have a roast jalapeño, they also don't make a hot sauce in house. Rachel got a stuffed cabbage that was very good. Brian ordered a lamb shank and Donna got a lamb shish kebab, I'll let them review their own stuff. Booze I got a small bottle of Yeni Raki (90 proof) with a bottle of spicy black carrot juice (Şalgam) as a chaser, recommended by the server. I never had it before with Raki so I was intrigued. It sounds like a weird combination but I liked it. I finished the bottle, had some trouble walking out by myself at the end. Okay, maybe 2.5 stars. We went there tonight based on 16 five star reviews. I had the Iskendar Kebab. The menu describes this dish as "Homemade gyro served over fried pita bread topped with a fresh tomato sauce, yogurt on the side." In reality the bread is a soggy mess with the yougurt on the same plate. There was nothing else on the plate to add some variety to a blah gyro. No separate pita bread, etc. The only upside was that the room was more than half empty so that conversation was easy. The waiter never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert (we did not). We were a party of four. None of us saw any reason to return. No one loved their dish. Service very slow. I do not understand all the 5 star reviews. A huge disappointment. read more

Everything is from scratch and you can taste it! The dishes were amazing from appetizers that were served with endless fresh bread baked daily. We asked what would be the best main dish and when the Mixed Grill came out it was everything and more. Tender and the taste were beyond incredible!!
