So many good finds in this store and service is very attentive and kind. All kinds of spices + Middle Eastern goods, including some other ingredients in bulk. I was able to buy phyllo sheets, great timing bc the staff told me they'd got it in yesterday and I wouldn't have to freeze it immediately. I also purchased some of their roasted Brazilian Arabica coffee beans after another customer really recommended it to me. You have the option to buy beans or have it ground there. I made a latte when I got home and it was delicious - tasted slightly nutty and chocolate-y. Staff obviously has great knowledge about their products, and price is very fair. I have yet to come across a specialty market/grocery store that I didn't feel the need to step into. I think anyone else who spends a good amount of time in the kitchen can attest to that. We had actually just finished exploring the gluten-free market across the street and were walking back to our car when I smelled the heavy scent of spices and stopped walking. Luckily, my friend spends even more time in the kitchen than I do and was more than willing to peek in. This place looks janky. No doubt. It reminded me of some of the old school markets back home in Oakland. But holy crap...they carry every single spice, flour, nuts, pasta, (I could go on)..known to man. I found Saigon cinnamon for $3 a pound. Do you have any idea what a friggin steal that is?? My little 1 oz jar from Penzeys cost me more than that. Now, granted I didn't buy it so I couldn't test the quality, but we did find cocoa powder from Switzerland for $2.99. I ended up buying falafel spices, tahini, parsley, AND bay leaves for less than $7. I'm glad this place is next door to the cafe I frequent. If you're looking for an ingredient that is Mediterranean or middle eastern, they probably have it! In regular portions, or bulk, for incredible prices! I came here yesterday, and returned today with my brother. I found a treasure and want to share it. You need to know and be prepared: there is a distinct smell that shouts out spices as you make your way inside... In fact perhaps, just perhaps there are little spice nymphs that sprinkle it on you as you enter the store. It's deliciously addictively pleasant! I think I shall be cooking tonight. The store reminds me of back home. where to good old fashion stuff no longer exist anymore. The stuff I used to buy and grew up on. No one else has them except Vk. The owner is super super friendly and helpful, he even tell his employees to help me with my items to the car. Very good store. Friendly staff! Chuck was very nice and informative. The displays are bare bones and nothing fancy, but I didn't mind it at all, but do not let this discourage you. The store is tiny and a bit warm. I am not sure the ac was on or working. The exterior looks like nothing, but my friend knew about this store, so we walked in. The dried spices are reasonable too. I wanted to support a family owned business and try something new! I bought Turkish coffee without the spice cardamon. The vacuumed sealed ground coffees had a percentage of cardamon, which Chuck informed me is a common spice in Turkish coffee! It was priced reasonably. My friend bought one pound too, and she also bought dried fruit and some ground dried spices. All the prices are quite reasonable. This place is always on top of my list for candy almonds (sometimes called Jordan Almonds). Their super fine quality almonds come with a huge roasted almond amid a thin layer of candy coating. Egyptians like to use these almonds for weddings and special occasions and if anyone ever asks me, I always say, you have to buy from the source: V&K! I also got my own almonds here. Now that I live in the Inland Empire I cannot venture there as much as I used to, but if you go, you will not be disappointed by the variety and the bargain! read more

I don't buy my coffee anywhere but here. I buy my pita bread here, along with my Greek yogurt and labne. They have an extensive and affordable spice selection. If you ever long for the smell of cumin, look no further than V&K Market in Burbank. Seriously, it smells like a large bag of cumin split open somewhere in the store, but they're yet to find it, so the perfume spreads its wings throughout this tiny little store. It is small, but it's got almost everything you're looking for. It's not a grocery store, so they don't have fresh produce or deli products. But it's got just about every spice you'd need. It's also got frozen basturma and soujouk, pomegranate paste, an endless array of jams, jellies, and dried fruits, and a decent selection of Greek, Armenian, and Middle Eastern cheeses. Don't ever buy butter from a grocery store. Fuckin' highway robbery. The butter they sell is fresh and it's only $1.99. (Trader Joe's also sells butter for the same price, so you don't have to shlep all the way to this tiny hovel in Burbank.) It's tiny and cramped but they have the best prices if you want to buy large quantities of spices plus dried fruits and nuts, especially cashews and hazelnuts. this is a true bargain basement find. the only downside is the parking, its limited, but if you go off hours, its not a problem. this is a true mom and pop store. they do a huge wholesale business so their product is always fresh. if you walk in the back door, you will see 50 lb. bags of legumes stacked to the rafters, literally. they will sell you in bulk or you can buy whatever you need and its always fresh. i buy their frozen california quayle and their feta cheese. my wife uses their almonds and rose water for her baking. nobody can beat their price. read more

V&K is a gem in Burbank. Situated among the foo-foo stores on Magnolia Blvd is this small, dark, strong smelling (in an exotic way) warehouse/market. I come here to get ingredients for my homemade hummus and pita bread but end up buying a lot more stuff because the prices are so good and you find stuff here that you'll never find at Ralphs. The staple type foods like olives, olive oil, pickles, garbanzo beans, tomato paste, spices (LOTS of them) and lemon juice are also available in large sizes. I also come here for their delicious $1.29 sardines, plain yogurt, nuts and middle eastern sweets. The owner is also very friendly and has some great suggestions for making hummus and other things. So I happened to be walking down Magnolia Blvd, when I came across this small little market like store. I love to visit new places, so does my wife. First step I made I was greeted by a young man, with a smile on his face, made me feel very welcomed. Customer service is a very important subject to me and great customer service was what I got delivered. The same gentleman continued to organize the shelves as I was taking a look into this amazing store, yes an amazing store. Once I walked into the store the one of a kind mixture of spices hit me in my nose and I couldn't get over the smell it made me hungry. This store has absolutely everything you need, with very affordable prices. As I was taking a look into the large variety of products the same younger gentlemen offered any help if needed looking for a specific product , after I told him It was my first time in this store he actually put in more effort to keep me happy as a customer. He explained to me the different variety of products they have and the sweets that they just happened to have received from across the other side of the globe, I was very surprised in the young man for his age this gentlemen has very good talent. I'm not sure if he's the owner's son or relative but major thumbs up to him. At the end of my adventure in this store he had convinced me to purchase a couple of sweets and at check out I was surprised with the total because it was a great bargain for what I received. As I left, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the sweet so I opened the box up and tried it I was a little nervous at first but at the same time who doesn't like sweets, it was the greatest choice I made walking into this store.
