Came into this store for the first time the other day and was astonished by all the amazing products and just how well organized everything was! I met a young gentleman named Peter who helped me out in finding a certain brand of chips. He was new but he did a phenomenal job. It's as if he was working there for years but he explained to me that it was only his first week! He even helped check me out at the register. Big shout out to him. Taylor's Market is a gem of a local grocery store. They have some parking out front but I ended up parking in the local neighborhood and walking to a few places in the area (including Taylor's Market and Freeport bakery). For those living in the neighborhood this is such a convenient spot. This is a smaller grocery store so you won't be able to find everything, but what they do have is plenty. There's fresh produce, wine, beer, shelf stable items essential to everyday recipes, and where they really shine is their deli and butcher area. They also have some prepared items like desserts, salads, dressings, pickles, dips, and more. On my latest visit I ended up ordering their Italian Hero ($11.99) from the deli counter, and picked up some of their pickles and house made caesar dressing. Everything was high quality and I loved that they have these options available. The Caesar dressing is delicious and I'll definitely be stopping in again for more. I've been using it on salads since picking it up. It had a good amount of parmesan cheese so The pickles have a very unique flavor, they're definitely tasty but not my favorite version of Dill Pickles- they are more tangy and zingy that traditional dill pickles, not bad just not what I expected. (I was thinking more kosher dill, like Claussen pickles or like the pickles you'd get at a Jewish deli). The sandwich was the star of the show, for $11.99 it was HUGE, the Italian Hero comes with prosciutto, mortadella, salami, roasted red bell pepper, and provolone- all sandwiches also come with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and pepperoncini. The combination of ingredients on Dutch Crunch bread was amazing and I think having roasted red peppers as an option is underrated, it elevates a sandwich so much. While I wouldn't do my normal shopping here, I would absolutely come for specialty items or pick up needed items for convenience. I'll be back again soon! read more

One of the greatest markets and butchers in all of Sacramento. My wife and I have never been disappointed in anything in all the years we have been going here. Having a British wife be happy with an American market is a rare thing. You will not be disappointed. Try their in house made sausages! Amazing! Service could not be better. They answer questions of all sorts and even sent us to another Market when they didn't have one item we asked about. It may look small but this cute little market packs in so much goodness. Did you know Taylor's has breakfast burritos?! They're in the deli case and although they can't heat them up for you, I think they're still worth it! $6 gets you a delicious and not greasy sausage breakfast burrito filled with peppers, potatoes, eggs and sausage. Came home and used the microwave then threw it in a pan real quick to make it crispy. Appreciate the deli guy let us know they couldn't heat them up for us before we got them. Ordered a pork shoulder with the skin attached to bake in the oven. There was only a shoulder without the skin and on the recommendation to come back the next day was acceptable. The shoulder was nice and fresh and came out perfectly. Took home some boneless chicken breasts and the butcher sliced them in half on my request as I was making chicken fricassee. Yes, they are pricey compared to most grocery stores, but they are locally owned and have been around for as long as I can remember. My husband and I used to frequent Taylor's when we lived in the area and we always loved coming here. They have all the good stuff - even fresh baked goods and pre-made food. We stopped in on Sunday to pick up a few things and the staff were wearing masks and they even have a hand WASHING station right outside for you to use before and after if you choose. The staff is always very friendly and personable - it's one of the reasons we enjoy coming here! They have a knowledgeable person for every section including a beer guy and a wine guy! This Old Fashioned Butcher Shop... I can't believe I have not reviewed this spot and showed it the love it deserves. The hubs and I are literally here once a week for their amazing meat selection. This is the only place that I know of that carries great prime, dry aged, and extreme dry aged steaks. During COVID times, the hubs has been cultivating his cooking skills (as we do not feel safe dining in): from the smoker, the oven, to the sous vide - Taylor has been making all my steak dreams come true. Taylor's also carries great wine options, cheese, and honey comb. I love the honey comb they carry here as well. I don't have to wait till the farmer's market. Taylor's Market is a favourite stop of mine and the bf's, usually when we have dinner plans at home or elsewhere. Taylor's usually has the perfect cheese, side, snack, slab o meat, Dick's Pick's Wine, craft beer, or dessert for whatever occasion we need it for. It's not in my immediate neighbourhood but it's a short bike or car ride from Midtown, and I could walk here in a half hour if I wanted to. No big. I like its easy access from the Land Park and Curtis Park areas, and it even has a Stinkrail stop across the street, 4th Ave/Wayne Hultgren! So, you need to know this is the best place for cheese in the entire Sacramento area. They've been lovingly handpicked just for the mongers among us. If you want to talk about cheese with people, this is also your place for that, believe it or not. I knew about the cheese scoop here eons before I actually lived in Sacramento proper. An old high school friend of mine used to be in charge of said cheese. I also enjoy that someone named Dick has also hand selected affordable wines and pairings for those of us who like to plan romantic dinners (David O.). We are currently drinking a Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc called Tora Bay. His picks have never led us astray. The beer selection is also awesome, and rivals that of Curtis Park market. If neither of these places has the craft brew you're looking for, it's either total wine or you're probably SOL. Sometimes they offer complimentary snack and beverage tastings to really complete the shopping experience. The last time I was in they had some solid kombucha from Nevada City (shopping local FTW). I appreciate the freshness of the fruit, veggies, and of course the meat counter, and how local many of the offerings are. Yeah, the prices can be on the higher side, but for the personable service and full attention to the finer things in life, sometimes it's absolutely worth it to me. We love taylor's on a regular day so this year we thought we'd try ordering our thanksgiving meal from them and it did not disappoint!! Small little specialty high end store in the middle of Curtis Park and near Land Park. Location is very convenient and no lines. The place is small but has a lot. Produce area, deli section, wine section and fresh made desserts and breads as well. Taylor's never disappoints. Staff is very helpful and will assist you with your groceries like the olden days. I really love this store for its convenience. Near Marie's Donuts, Freeport Bakery and a coffee shop house and Taylor's Restaurant too! So the kids can run to the bakery while you shop. lol love it ! Rating 5.0 TLDR: this is just for the meats... GO. Great cuts. Great price. Very eager to come back and try their charcuterie cuts and their sandwiches. Most, if not all their meats have great marbling. I'm definitely only coming here to get my quality meats. I've basically said everything I needed to in the tldr. I heard they had dry aged cuts so I went to check them out. They dry age for at least 30 days! This is great (yes, if you had a dollar for how many times I've used great in this review ). Good luck trying to find that type of dry aged quality at local restaurants (said restaurants only dry age at least 21 days and charge up the....) Anyways, their cuts are very quality. Although they are split with choice and prime (it will say "prime"), there is no lack of marbling on either cut. Other butchers are sometimes lacking in the marbling section. Not Taylors!!! That alon is enough to get me coming back here - which I will. They also have a variety of different meat cuts and sausages. The options are...great :D Overall, looking for quality meats? This is your place to go. It's definitely mine from this point forward. Also, I've very interested to check out their charcuterie,sandwiches, and rotisserie chicken in the future. read more

So many delicous items! Whenever I go downtown, I have to take a trip to Taylor's. The store is small so it can be hard to navigate around others but it does create a nice sense of community in a way. The workers are all so nice and polite, I needed to figure out which cheese was the one I sampled, and everyone in the store was commited to helping me find it. The store also has lots of foods for my family with allergies, I can always find something that is actually yummy here for them, which is harder than it sounds. Definently go to this store and get the Wagon Wheel cheese, it's as perfect as the store is! read more

Work from home so not dressed professionally. Wanted deli food for skiiing the next day. Upon entering the market I was constantly asked if I needed help so much more than other places. If they asked one fucking time I can accept that but 3? I believe they did this b/c they thought I was casing the place for shoplifting.
