It was a pretty quiet day, and walking into the place it was somewhat dead... only a couple of tables seated. A good thing, too, because parking in the area to eat there is an absolute nightmare thanks to the City of Gainesville's approach to managing the downtown area. This is what I would call a typical downtown pub in a college town, built for having a lot of standing folks coming in during the nighttime hours to drink and have a good time, but during the earlier hours the dark wood and faint smell of stale beer tells you just what this place is normally up to and how it thrives during its busy hours. I was greeted and told to sit anywhere, so I found a good two-top to sit at and looked over the menu, knowing that I was going to be going for a steak. I went with the New York Strip with fries as a side. The wait staff was cordial, and my steak came out in a reasonable amount of time. The steak is good, and the price is right in this day and age. The fries worked well with the steak. I would go back for lunch here. No chance of me going here in the evening hours though. Finding parking in the middle of the day was bad enough, I don't even want to imagine what it is like in the evening.

When one of the bartenders came by and was taking it away without even asking why an entire plate is being thrown away without hardly any food eaten. So I said it was way overcooked, and inedible, he didn't even respond, just took it and threw it away. No questions. No offer to get something else, just walked away. The tomato was fresh and but the red onion slices were very thick. The mustard and ketchup didn't work with the seasonings on the chicken. The dish was just all over the place and I couldn't even finish half of it before I started feeling sick. I ordered a side of onion rings as well. This was a large order and the size was great. But these onion rings were over-battered and were fresh, but not crispy at all. I bit into one and ended up pulling out the whole onion rings. Not good. Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience. The food was so heavy and overly salted I couldn't even eat half of it. I ended up giving it to a homeless person on the way out. After 25 minutes of waiting at the table, I had to flag down another waitress. Meanwhile, at least three tables that were seated after us already had drinks and had placed their food orders. I understand being busy, but at the very least, we should have been greeted or offered drinks. The waitress we flagged down said she would help us, which seemed promising at first, but then we waited another 20 minutes just for drinks. I'm not sure if it was an understaffing issue or something else, but the service was extremely poor. We considered leaving a one-star review, but the waitress did seem like she was trying. The food was okay, we ordered light items, and it still took quite a while to arrive. Overall, we would recommend skipping this place. There are plenty of other options in town that will treat you better. We work hard, and when we go out, we expect at least standard service.

They are just down the road for me when I am at work, so I will definitely be returning. The East side of town needs more places that can provide food of this caliber!

My Boyfriend & I were extremely excited to try out V Pizza, after hearing several great reviews. Well, I was extremely disappointed & almost felt like I had shown up to a entirely different place than that I had heard of. As soon as we walked in I was excited to look at the desert display, only to find a half melted piece of cake and Rotten lettuce falling from the Salads ON DISPLAY! Our waitress was extremely short & lacking of any personality at all. At one point we we've even given someone else's food & the waiter was gone before we could even explain that wasn't what we ordered. What we did order we specifically asked to have no Onions. When our food was brought to our table our waitress also flung the food down & was gone without asking how it was or if we needed anything else. I walked to the bar & asked to speak to a Manager. Little did I know the man I had watched knocking back shots throughout our visit was in fact the Manager. He got up, & walked to our table. Our church held an event here in the private room that they have separate from the restaurant. I didn't know how nice and amazing the room was till we actually got over there! They have TV's in there as well! They even turned the TV so we could catch the Clemson and Notre Dame playoff game which was very cool! We were served a private buffet of food that had to be the best buffet of my life! The wings meatballs and salad were all delicious! As we ran out they continued to bring us more and more food! It was never ending! The pizzas they brought in, I felt they were made especially for me and me alone! We ate drank and laughed for hours! The staff treated us like they had known us all of our lives! They even brought in a dessert assortment for us to eat to top off all the great food that we had! My fiancé and I were walking downtown looking for a nice place to eat when we saw a sign outside a restaurant for an Italian Ham and cheese. We walked inside and we were greeted by everyone from the bar staff to the guy that was in the kitchen! Our server was amazing and attentive and she gave us great recommendations. The pizza was unbelievable! The bruschetta was the perfect start to our meal, the cocktails were amazing! As we finished up our meal, the guy who was in the kitchen cooking our meal came out and introduced himself as the General manager of the restaurant! How cool is that!? He told us a great story of how the restaurant got started and how the products in our food was second to none! You can really taste the quality in everything they have here! My first day to use this app but I really want to say thank you very much to the couple nearby me (about 5pm-6pm 2nd September). I'm 22 years old (not American). It's my first time to have drinks. They chatted with me but I didn't take any photos of them and even don't know their names. They knew it was my first glass of wine and left earlier (because it took longer for me to drink for the first time). When I wanted to pay, the bartender said they had paid for me (I didn't understand it at first. He used translation software to tell me the situation.) I want to say thank you very much. A foreign boy can meet such nice people when he drank for the first time here. This is an unforgettable experience in my life. This place is the hidden gem of Gainesville! I have no idea how they pack so much goodness into a pizza! The guy in the red shirt that was cooking recommended the wings, I can see why he said they are award winning! They're savory melt in your mouth goodness! It was like they were made to be paired with a cold beer on a hot summer day! My sever was awesome! She smiled and made me feel welcomed and at home! Her conversation was awesome! We've been here four times We've had pizza, wings, the meatball panini, the pesto chicken panini, and macaroni and cheese. The pizza is really good. The crust is a little soggy, but the toppings are always fresh and top quality. The sauce is wonderful, just the right amount of spicy tang. The sandwiches are perfectly toasted and full of cheese. The meatballs are sooooo good- flavorful and juicy. The pasta in the macaroni is not mushy. The service is always friendly and efficient. On one trip the manager came out and told us that the sandwich didn't look good to him coming out of the kitchen so he sent it back. Well, just had to give it another try, and this time with a group of eight people. We tried three pizzas, and had to have some wings of course and this time also got the lemon cheese cake. A+ again on taste, quantity of food, and service, and that was unanimous all around the table including from two teen age boys. As the waiter went through the menu for those new comers I could see myself returning for these other delectable items. My boyfriend and I were looking for a new place to make into our date night. I came across V Pizza in downtown and it was absolutely wonderful!! My first visit was impeccable. Our bartender knew everything like the back of her hand! Everything she recommended to us on the menu was "on point". We got the pesto mac n cheese and the pizza ensalata. Who knew pizza without sauce could be so delicious?!?! We have been going almost every weekend since that visit. Last time we ordered drinks from the bar and got the chicken wings. THEY ARE NOW MY NEW FAVORITE WING PLACE. I have told my friends about this place and they all have had pleasing experiences. 10/10 read more

We were staying at the Downtown Hotel near V pizza during hurricane Irma. Many places were closed understandably and anxiety was high as the storm approached. I stuck my head in the door and the General Manager was preparing food for a local hospital - they were closed. But with a calming smile and generous act of humanity, he invited me in and continued to make my family (and a few other weary hungry people) fresh hot pizzas to go....without charge. I came in pretty late at night looking forward to trying this place, and they did not disappoint. Instead of being turned off by tardiness they were extremely welcoming. My waitress Jessica helped me select the perfect beer and pizza combo, she was fantastic and knew her stuff. I got the carnivora pizza and tried some of their select drafts. It was a great experience. The GM Billy even took time to come over and chat with me to see how I liked everything. I ate the whole pie to myself, which is rare. I have visited all the V pizza locations in Jacksonville. When I heard they were opening in Gainesville I was very excited. It's my favorite pizza place on this planet. And now I'm convinced that this Gainesville location is my favorite one. The atmosphere is very cozy. I love looking at the beautiful ovens baking the pizza and the bar area is big and comfortable. My son and I were on a mission to hit a few places and see who had great wings. We started downtown at V Pizza. Their wings are not traditional saucy, messy wings. They are seasoned and cooked in their special oven. We tried both flavors and they were excellent. We went on to 3 other places and in the end V Pizza was our favorite. I come here for the wings. I've been here once, twice, and now thrice. I sit up on the bar, and talk to the cooks with my brother, and in all honesty, they are awesome. They make it great to sit and eat, and even help with different ways to eat. I'd have to say, this is the best wings in town, best pizza so far, and all in all, best cooks I have met in a long while. Experience was extremely memorable. Came here with a large group for my birthday and the service was impeccable. For my birthday I received a unique drink and the waitstaff was incredibly attentive to the entire table. I've enjoyed Pizza V since they opened in September. Every time the pizza seems to get better. I was there Tuesday with a group of students from UF and we had a great dinner. I always get a build your own pizza with rope sausage, green pepper and pineapple. I had my group try my favorite and they were happily surprised how tasty the pizza was. I love this place. The drinks are unique and really well priced. This is coming from a post college grad! The pizza is made from freshly imported ingredients from Italy. The server Katelyn was friendly and happy and the manager Thomas offered to sample their award winning wings. The spicy wings are now my recommended order! This represents my third visit at V's and I can officially say this is the best pizza in Gainesville. Perfectly topped, seasoned and baked. Crust is thin and crispy as it should. All the toppings are fresh and of high quality. The first time I ate here was near closing time yet the staff was unbelievably friendly and the pizza was 10/10. Give them a try! They serve beer and wine, making it a great place to hang out for a bit. The first time I visited was during the week however my second visit was over the weekend just minutes before the Gators vs UM game. It was definitely more crowded, but even with the crowd we were able to order and get our food in about 45 minutes, which honestly isn't bad at all on game day. They also had a few game day specials/discounts! Overall, I love this as a new addition to Gainesville's food scene. Great variety, tasty food, and an easy spot to come back to!

They only have a pickup window, so parking can be a challenge. Pro tip, have one person hop out while the other drives around the block. It made things much easier for us. When I walked up, the staff was super friendly. We chatted about how we moved here from Massachusetts almost two years ago but had never ventured this far downtown before. We are always on the hunt for those monster size pies, and this 20 inch pizza did not disappoint. The box barely fit in our truck which gave us a good laugh. We got it home and between us and our teenager, the whole thing was gone. The taste was fantastic and honestly reminded me of one of those little spots in Times Square. There was very minimal grease and none of that heavy heartburn sauce we always joke about. Overall, highly recommend. Our whole pizza was ready in about 10 minutes which was impressive. This is a very popular, iconic eatery in the area and gets busy. The atmosphere and ambiance is quite unique and like nothing I'd ever seen before. A very eclectic scene, the indoor and outdoor area is full of artwork, plants, and even stuff like old planes, buses, etc. There is truly nothing like it elsewhere! They offer both sit down and takeout options. You can opt for takeout and find seating in the takeout area or you can receive dine-in services. I recently dined here during move in--it was EXTREMELY busy and I would recommend going during times where mass amounts of students and their families aren't in town. We ended up putting our names down on the sit-down list and were told to expect up to a 1.5hr wait for the three of us. Although I ended up receiving a text about 50min later that our table was ready. The service was just ok. They were clearly swamped, but I was expecting them to handle this a little better considering they are used to this. We ended up being seated outside and ordered immediately. To start, we got the Satch Salad with ham and for our pizza we ordered the large 18" pie with pepperoni, ricotta, and basil. The Satch salad is highly regarded featuring red and green leaf lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, apples, a hint of finely diced red onion, Romano cheese, freshly diced tomatoes, a sprinkle of almonds, sunflower seeds, and pecan pieces, tossed in a secret house vinaigrette. The small salad, which feeds up to four, was quite large and the perfect size for the three of us. The salad had ample amounts of toppings, but it honestly was just ok. The dressing didn't have a prominent flavor, which was disappointing because so many people rave about it. We received our pizza at least an hour later. The wait was very, very long and honestly too long for what we received. The pie was large, with plenty of pepperoni and ricotta, but it just wasn't very balanced. It was so heavy, with so much sauce you couldn't even pick it up and eat it by the slice (had to use a fork and knife). Now I will say the sauce had great flavor, but there was way too much of it. It was also hard to taste the elements of the pie due to it being served straight from the oven and being extremely hot. The "buttery crust" many people mention wasn't very buttery and was just like average pizza crust. Not to mention, the pizza was burnt on the bottom and clearly overcooked. I was really surprised at how mediocre this pizza was after hearing so many fabulous things about it. Nothing was comped for our long wait either--which wasn't expected because everyone was waiting this long for their food too. Overall, Satchel's didn't blow my mind and fell very flat to me. The atmosphere is certainly memorable and very unique. I appreciated the fun, hippy-like vibe with all the various nick-nacks, but the food wasn't my favorite. The salad was just ok and the infamous dressing didn't have much flavor. The wait for the pizza was insane, especially considering the execution of it. I understand part of my not-so-great experience is due to the time in which we decided to dine here. I would definitely like to return to get a better judgement of the food and service. Not all the pizzas seemed to be the same either--I noticed pies with less toppings (or lighter toppings) had much less sauce, thin, and eatable by the slice. So I am not adverse to coming here again, I'd actually really like to because I don't think my experience was the best representation of what this restaurant is known for!
