I visited Arirang Korean BBQ a few years ago, and since K-BBQ has become so popular lately, my friend and I decided to give it another try. The restaurant was nearly full when we arrived, but a friendly employee let us know that they were cleaning a table for us. After waiting only a few minutes, we were seated. We ordered the K-2 option and were genuinely impressed by the quality of the meat. It did not feel like typical all-you-can-eat meat at all--the cuts were fresh, flavorful, and much higher quality than we expected. The service was also top-tier. The staff checked on us at just the right times without being overwhelming, and every employee was cheerful, welcoming, and incredibly kind. They even had a soccer game playing, so my friend and I enjoyed watching it while having a delicious and relaxing dinner. We heard that the ownership changed last year, and the improvements are very noticeable. The meat quality, customer service, and overall atmosphere have all been upgraded significantly since my previous visit. Our dinner experience was absolutely five stars. We used to frequent this place as a family, but haven't been in a while since we have some good KBBQ closer to us now. I was all set to give it a four-star review. Here that is: Food is decent. The pork belly is some of the best I've tasted. The beef bulgogi is good. The brisket is tasty, but it arrives frozen and rolled, making it a little harder to cook. The sausage was tasty. The spicy pork belly is just pork belly with a squirt of the sweet-and-hot sauce from the banchan buffet--just make it yourself. This is one of the few places that still serves romaine lettuce leaves (on the banchan buffet), so you can do the old-fashioned KBBQ rolled in a lettuce leaf. The restaurant is comfortable and reasonably clean (though they've had a few health department dings). Service is understaffed, often slow, and indifferent. It's been this way for years. There was an older Korean woman who used to work here and was great, but she wasn't there the day we went. So, what happened to the four stars? We went here on Monday, which happened to be MLK Day, because our new usual place is closed every Monday. We went right near opening at 11:30 with four adults, a nine-year-old, and a five-year-old. We ordered the K1 for 4 adults and the 5-year-old. The other child only wanted gyoza, which we ordered (and found there are only two gyoza per order!!). The server seemed to agree with the menu (see photo of black background menu) that the K-1 was $24.99 per person since it was lunchtime on a Monday. Imagine our surprise at checkout to hear that it was $29.99 per person, plus $15 for the five-year-old, plus three orders of gyoza and a couple of plastic bottles of rice wine. Oh, and a forced 20% tip. NOT what we were led to expect. Not cool. And they refused to budge, only arguing when confronted with their dishonesty. We will NEVER return to this place. Had the all you can eat here at Arirang. There's also a serve yourself salad bar with sides and sauces which is nice. The complaint I have is that I Came here at around 8:45 and they close at 10 however, it felt like I was getting rushed to eat and leave. Holy hell. What is going on with this place? This was my second and LAST visit. The service was PAINFULLY slow. I never complain at restaurants but I sure did today! Took forever to order. Then forever to order the next round. Forever to have our plate switched out. They brought us the wrong thing, took it back, brought the wrong thing again, tried to say it was actually the right thing afterall.... Brought us raw meat with no way to cook it, so we waited and waited and waited and waited until my husband finally got up to ask someone who was clearing a table. That person didn't understand English so couldn't help. We asked the server and she told us twice that someone else would do it. Waited some more. The raw meat had just been sitting there for so long (upwards of half an hour) that they took it away and brought us more for safety reasons - but half of the serving that we originally were given! I asked for water and the server said "someone will bring you water" even though the pitcher was right next to her! I asked if I could just do it myself, so she filled my glass but not my husband's and ran off before I could stop her. When asked how things were, I said "VERY FRUSTRATING".... But that is where it ended. They dropped off a bill but didn't tell us to pay up front so we waited some more. It literally took us 2.5 hours to get out of there and we only got ONE refill of meats (and the wrong ones at that). I feel like I just got punked! The floors are greasy and slippery. I came with a small group of friends at 5:30 on a Monday and the restaurant was empty except for maybe one or two other tables. We all ordered the second level of AYCE to get a variety of meats. Service was quick and attentive (possibly because there weren't other diners) and we were asked multiple times if we wanted to place orders for more meat. What's nice about Arirang is that there's a serve yourself buffet of sides and sauces, and I could see it constantly being topped off and refreshed, so it was easy to go grab more sauces or lettuce or whatever to eat with the meat. There was a decent variety of meats, but would not recommend the marinated pork. Our favorite was the kalbi ribs (those alone made it worth paying the extra amount!). Something that did surprise me was that the waiters never offered to change our grill, so by the end of the meal, it was a little crusty, especially from all the marinated meats. Been here multiple times, and even tried the other Arirang 2.0 thinking that they serve the same, unfortunately they don't. This Arirang serves good variety of meat, although personally I'm already solved with the Brisket! They also have a buffet style for the sides and the sauces. Refillable fountain drinks too! I like the location, it has lots of parking. The inside is spacious too. All of my visit, I have never encountered it to be full, maybe 1 or 2 of my visits there are around 4 other groups eating there, the other times it's usually just me and my husband and/or there are other 2 groups. The service is good, they're quick and attentive too. I agree with the other reviewers here, they do ask you from time to time if you need anything or if everything's good. The only thing that I guess I dont like is that whenever I eat there, the kitchen is either still prepping or that it's already closed and I can't order their other stuff on the menu aside from the meats. The closest kbbq restaurant in my neck of the woods and it offers a bon chon and sauce bar which is one of the great appeals of this place. The bon chon bar usually has pasta salad, potato salad, sliced pickled radish, kimchi, and fish cake. There's also lettuce available for making wraps with your meat. As for sauce fixings, they have sesame oil, bbq sauce, chili sauce, salt and pepper, sliced jalapeños, and garlic. Pretty standard stuff, but I like how openly available it is. I rarely ever come here for anything other than the all-you-can-eat KBBQ cause, normally, it's such a great deal to sit in with a bunch of hungry friends than can eat a lot. So I highly recommend doing that and depending on the variety of meats you want, you will pay a bit more for more variety. I recently came here with my girlfriend and her kids, not realizing they did not meet the child price requirement (6-8 years old). So we ended up having to pay for 4 adults sadly. Definitely would like it if the age range went up to 13 at most cause these kids don't eat much and eat even less when they're picky. So definitely did not get the bang for our buck here this time around. We ended up wasting a lot of meat which I felt terrible about, but that was totally on me for going after an extra plate of meat. So we got the K1 KBBQ option which allowed us to order, beef bulgogi, spicy pork bulgogi, pork belly, brisket, and chicken bulgogi. If you want spare ribs, you gotta order either the K2 or the K3 options since those off it and more. It just costs a bit more for the variety as I mentioned earlier. The meat quality is kinda "cheap" in the fact that the brisket is sliced frozen and the bulgogi obviously kept pre-marinated in the fridge. But I honestly don't know any other way they can serve the marinated stuff. Overall, my experience here has always been great. Service is good and they let you know whether or not kids fit the requirement. Obviously, we decided to stay still cause I was craving KBBQ. We got our rice and drinks without issues. And our water and tea got refilled whenever we requested it. So yeah, I'll be back with a hungrier crowd next time. With COVID still relevant, they placed disposable gloves and hand sanitizer next to the sauce and bon chan bar for you to use the bar safely. Unfortunately, I've seen a lot of customers recently that don't use the gloves and I think the place got a bit lacks with enforcing it. So used the bar with that in mind. read more

Stopped by for early dinner around 4 or 4:30 so unsurprisingly, it was empty. However, staff were still welcoming and attentive, providing fantastic service. This location matches with the Lynnwood one pretty well, they both have their niche pros and cons. I've only gone to the Lynnwood one before so this was my first experience here and was pretty enlightening. Menus look the same as well as the prices, but rating here is definitely higher for various reasons. The side dishes here are much better and simply have a flavor. The mashed potatoes for example, are actually mashed and smooth rather than some strange solid mumble jumble over at Lynnwood. Fish cakes have a much stronger flavor too. However, recently Lynnwood placed a big rice cooker at the side dish station so it's easier to refill (though sanitation may be hit or miss). Over here, you still have to ask for more rice but it'll likely be cleaner. This location definitely prides itself more on the service and has employees who will actually check in. Lynnwood seems to have opted for more self service with employees only coming to provide meat and change grills. With that note, however, employees here don't go out of their way to change your grill, you still have to explicitly ask (other KBBQ restaurants are better at this). Meat selection is probably the most important factor when choosing either location though. Or a KBBQ spot in general. Price or value may be higher for some, but this is one of the cheaper KBBQ spots and it's expected to be lower quality. Pork belly here is sliced in much thinner pieces than Lynnwood which means it does cook a bit faster. Presentation of meat was also better but it's all frozen anyways so pretty irrelevant. Lastly, the brisket here was 50/50 where some pieces were tender and juicy while others were extremely dry. The latter was the biggest reason for the markdown. read more

Talked with a friend who claims the other location is better...but I highly disagree. The food quality was great and nothing seemed to be concerning of any problems. The people are always nice, ready to help, and never once had to ask for a refill. When I searched and compared health ratings...this one came on top. That and I don't think I have ever left this place feeling ill. I like the fact that their cooktops don't need a heavy vent for you to yell around speaking to someone on the other side. Their spicy pork bulgogi really packs some heat to it. Their beef bulgogi is always a good choice. I've never been a fan of brisket. Arirang currently allows dine in with and without reservations. Instead of the usual grill, you'll get a castiron on a propane butane burner. This still cooked effectively and quickly: heat settings were easy to control, and there's a divet in the castiron grill to drain oil and fat. AYCE was a good price and variety! Side dishes are mediocre at best and nothing was mind-blowing despite of the variety they offered. Service was virtually nonexistent as we had to get server's attention for a long time. Let me preface this with saying I have never felt the need to leave a bad review in my life. Last night, I wasn't very hungry, but I went here with 3 other friends. I told the waiter I wouldn't be eating anything besides the side order of edamame that I had asked for. The waiter then told me that I had to be vegetarian in order for them to make an exception and not charge the 27.99 or whatever it was for each person to eat the meats they brought out. A group of us (12) dined here for my daughter's birthday. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Arirang can easily accommodate seating for large parties. An 18% gratuity is automatically added for parties of 4+. My wife and I each had a bottle of Sapporo for $4.50 each. I'm not an all-you can eat type of person, but apparently since one person (my daughter) was ordering all-you-can-eat then every single person in our party had to order an all-you-can-eat choice. We all chose the the K1 option for $19.99. The menu stated three meat choices the first time around. We were unable to individually choose our meat choices. Our three meat choices had to be ordered collectively. We chose: beef brisket, chicken (thighs) bulgogi and pork bulgogi. Once orders were placed we were free to visit the buffet bar for all types of different sides while our meats and steamed rice were being prepared. Ariang was out of Miso soup on my run and wasn't filled up again during my visit. We were only offered the one cup of steamed rice with our meals. Meat portions were large. Cooking elements were cramped with our size of group. Our group didn't request any additional meats; however, when we asked for boxes for our left-over meat we were told "no" at first. When asked why and what they planned on doing with our original meat serving that we all paid $19.99 for they finally brought us to-go boxes for it. Tabs were inaccurately split and paid at the front counter. Service was non-existent and disorganized. We all left Arirang smelling horribly like fried oil. The downside is that your clothes will smell like smoke with the self bbq. Maybe the restaurant can provide some kind of spray to desensitize the smoke smell from the clothes. Pretty solid kbbq place! Interior was nice, and side dishes were self-serve buffet style. I liked that we can get it on our own, and they had a good selection of sauces and garlic! Quality of meats are good, although a little thin so they dry out quicker when cooking. The beef bulgogi was standard, but I'd say that I've had better elsewhere in terms of marination and flavor. I wish they had traditional Korean soups (like jiggae) for side dishes, but they only had miso soup, or egg drop soup - weren't exactly Korean side dishes. Let me preface this by saying I have been a customer here for almost 4 years and have recommended this place to many of my friends and family. For me, the value is good and it provides a good atmosphere to spend time with people. This last Wednesday (Nov 13th) I came by here around noon with my girlfriend and son, it wasn't busy and I was being served by the same older Asian woman who is usually there in the earlier hours. Everything is good until after I pay, bill was $52, I pay with $53. After we are packing up our things and getting ready to head out, our server pretty aggressively says we don't ever tip when we come there. I was totally taken back by this and told her I usually do, she said no I don't and she walked away. As we are getting up and walking away, she comes back a second time to tell me I should be more generous and giving and I should tip and that they don't make a lot of money. In my opinion, if you're relying on tips so heavily, that should be a conversation with your employer. I told her I would tip her next time but she then said "you don't need to tip, but be more nice". What was that whole thing for then? I look at things more understanding than most, so I can somewhat understand being upset about not receiving a tip, but that says more about the server than it does about me. But I, like most people, work hard for my money. I am not going out to eat to throw free money out, I tip based on service quality. In my almost last 4 years of coming here I've probably tipped a total of $200ish, but it has always been based on if the server goes above and beyond. Where should I start? Terrible service. Every time we were cooking our food, the lady keeps turning on the fan in the grill and it keeps cooling it down causing our meats to cook super slow. She didn't even give time for the chicken to cook before turning it on. It was one of my friends first time having Korean bbq and I wanted it to be a good experience. The first time she did, she took our chicken that wasn't cooked yet and we waited for that chicken for over 10 minutes already (because she kept turning on the fan). Also, I asked to order meat and she pointed and say just this one and pointed at the 1st combo. So that was just lack of products and availability. How sad for all you can eat. The side dishes were limited. Maybe 6 sides and a few soups and sauces. We ordered the pork bulgogi, beef bulgogi, chicken bulgogi, brisket and pork belly. The pork bulgogi was supposed to be "spicy pork". It all had the same flavor and it was super vinegary. Vinegary pork bulgogi and beef bulgogi does not sound right. What a waste of money. I made a reservation for 7 people for a Friday afternoon and our visit was absolutely stellar. The grills are built in and the table was set for us as soon as we entered. We all opted for the K1 which was $27 a person as of 12/3/2021. Based on reviews it looks like pricing has increased quite rapidly over the last few months. We tried the bulgogi, pork belly, and beef brisket. The initial tray of food provided were massive. The sides bar was fun to pick your banchan and make your dipping sauces. We came to Arirang for AYCE Korean BBQ (duh!) while en route to Everett, and it was a fine option, which fulfilled our BBQ cravings! For a late lunch around 2pm, it was nice to know they offer AYCE any time of the day and have three options for it, ranging from $19.99 to $29.99, depending on meat assortments. My boyfriend and I just chose the $19.99 option, which you can choose from beef bulgogi, pork bulgogi, chicken bulgogi, pork belly, flank and pork chop. What I particularly like about Arirang, compared to other Korean BBQ spots is that there's a condiment and banchan bar that you can help yourself to versus waiting for servers to get it for you. I prefer getting my own condiments and banchan, since I like some better than others, so am able to get as much kimchi, fish cakes, etc... as I want! It's a good assortment, too, with the standard banchan items you'd find, plus soups, sauces and vegetables for your cooking. Of the meats I liked the pork bulgogi the most. It had that spicy marinade its known for, making it really tasty. The beef bulgogi seemed to be bland. Pork Belly and flank were A-OK, but also seemed flavorless. It helped that we cooked our meat with the garlic from the condiment bar, which I recommend doing. Portions per serving was a good size, and we felt like we got our money's worth. Overall, not a bad spot for AYCE Korean BBQ, but I'm still on the hunt for the best one in the Seattle area. For AYCE KBBQ, this is a good option to go to but not the best. For $19.99 [K1] you can choose between a large variety of beef between Beef brisket, Pork Belly, Pork Bulgogi, Beef Bulgogi for the first level. The next level includes ribs and so on and so on. The grill is pretty cool as there is a built in fan inside of the grill. With COVID the salad bar is closed. While the beef is pretty good, everything else you either need to ask consistently for or order on the side. They give you side dishes and rice but do not offer the steamed egg nor the stew that usually comes with KBBQ. Ok, so I have been to the other Arirang many times (I am not sure if they are a chain), and liked it a lot in terms of food. The service was never good. As for this location, i thought everything was great. I don't remember the service being particularly bad. I mean there isn't much to it since you get your own sides. As for the sides, i thought they had the essentials: lettuce, peppers, garlic, kimchi, and a host of other sides and different sauces. The meat was pretty good. We had the K1 option and all the meats were pretty good. We came on a Sunday afternoon so we didn't get any specials, but $20 is a good price for what you get. read more
