I'm always going to this place to buy buko pandan. I bought this item just yesterday and its already spoiled. I am not satisfied knowing that i bought said item and there is no expiration date at all. I really hope next time they can at least put an expiration date so the people know when their food has been spoiled. read more

I was raised in Carson. I am Filipina. I lived right down the street from this bakery. However, why haven't I ever been there until now?! I'll try not to age myself, but after a decade (or two), I decided I wanted to check out what all the hype was about. I didn't buy pan de sal; although, many reviews say it's the bomb dot com. Instead, I decided to get some Bibingka (Rice Flour cake w/ coconut). YYUUMMMYY!! Moist and just the right amount of coconut. I gave it 3 stars only because the lady at the counter did not smile once while I was waiting in line and they have a minimum of $10 to use your debit card. Maybe a $5 minimum wouldn't be so bad, but I don't need a couple dozens of pan de sal or cheese balls (btw, mahal naman!), so that's a downer for me. read more

OK - I must change my previous review for this place if I am coming here once every other week...I gave this place 2 stars last time, although they have my FAVE cheese balls and fresh pan de sals... The 2 stars was because I brought home the puto/kucinta combo and it molded the next day. I recommended that they put a "Best By or Sold By" dates on them so they can keep tract (and the customer's too!) to dispose of old goods. I have not seen that done yet, but I was there the other day and the goods seemed fresh. I went in there to get their cheeseballs (Must have with your coffee), and then I also purchased their chicken empanadas and their carioca (round, sweet rice dough glazed with coconut syrup) - YUM! I loved their fresh empanadas, and my doughy sweet treat!!! This is my go-to place for Filipino comfort food, seriously! I really like the young Filipina girl that works behind the counter. She always remembers me for my orders. So - I upped the stars...HAD to. I'm here more often than I need to be. read more

This joint is not bad at all. I see a lot of out-of-towners like myself heading to this place and bring goods home that are not available in their home states. It is common to see folks with armfuls and basketfuls of goods totaling hundreds of dollars. I even saw a person fill his entire checked baggage sized suitcase with food. I had tried a majority of their items and the price is reasonable and they taste great as well. They have things like turron and ukoy too. The ukoy is sort of oily but that's how it's supposed to be. I'm definitely a repeat customer and have checked out a couple other branches besides this one but I like the Carson branch better. read more

These guys have the best pan de sal in town! I had their banana bread tonight and it was so moist and soft, it just melted in my mouth! Their ube stuffed bread, cheese pamiento, and hopias should also be tasted! One thing I don't like about this place is their okoy. It's not made fresh, so buy the time I crave for them (which is usually at night), it's very soggy and oily. But I go for their breads, so no matter. read more

Went for the first time yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. I got 3 different types of bread that had ube and when I tell you they were so soft and fresh. Based on the quality I can tell they were just made that same day if not just an hour or so before me coming in the door. So glad I came and gave it a try, can't wait to come back again and try more. The cashier was super helpful too, I would definitely recommend anyone to come here. Oh and I forgot to mention, the prices are great too! read more

It's small, kind of dingy, but there's always a line - and for a reason! Pan De Sal (basically bomb ass dinner rolls for you non-Filipinos) is baked fresh daily...on busy days, TWICE daily. It's not unusual for people to wait up to a half hour for the fresh bread to come out. Really - pan de sal fresh out of the oven is a little taste of heaven. My heart flutters a bit just thinking about it. They have pretty much every Filipino baked good you can think of - and they're all pretty good! From Ube to Bibingka - any craving can be fulfilled. :] Even the Siopao isn't half bad! When you're inside and waiting in line, it can get intimidating hearing all the Tagalog being spoken, but no worries because they're such sweethearts - even if you don't speak the native tongue! :] Overall, it's one of the best Filipino bakeries in Carson. It's so good that every time my cousin visits from Arizona, he stops by and picks up a few dozen Pan De Sals for the road! read more

Some days, if you're not fast enough, you have to wait for the next time top sellers (the cheese balls, cheese rolls, etc.) are due to come out of the oven. So call ahead and plan ahead to avoid the heartache of an empty shelf space where you'd hoped there would be a box of deliciousness for you to take home 2. Fattening. No calorie counting for you once you step through the doorway. Prepare to enjoy that tumble off the dieter's bandwagon. :) But everything else? DON'T LEAVE WITHOUT TRYING THE CHEESE BALLS. I was first introduced to this bakery a few years back and I loved it immediately. They have quite a selection on Filipino baked goods. I haven't tried a lot of the sweeter foods because I have a friend who makes the sweets at home, and I don't want to be disappointed. I recommend everyone who decides to stop in this little shop to pick up these must have items: -chicken empanadas (I always get at least a 6 pack of these for snacking on!) -baked siopao -mini regular siopao buns -a pack of the pandesals (the fluffiest bread ever, you won't be upset) I've also tried their Biko, which is a semi sweet rice dessert like item, but I prefer my friend's family recipe (because it's a tad bit sweeter haha) They randomly add items near the register that aren't always there. Sometimes there is a multi bean and ube drink, twice I have seen palabok there (which is pancit noodles with pork, chicken, onions, garlic, hard boiled eggs, and sauce), ube pudding, stuff like that. Sometimes the shop is very crowded and other times it's desolate. I can't give you an accurate time of when the busy time is, because it changes. Hope you support this small business!!! read more

Ensamada, Pandesal, pan de ube, yema, puto, turon, and suman is sooooo yummy here lol (sorry for spelling errors) The bread is never dry or hard here. Lol always fresh and fluffy. Never saw moldy bread here unlike at seafood city. My only complaint here is that the bakery is very overwhelmingly hot and feels like there's no air conditioning in here. read more

My expectations for the purple yam roll was too high and is one reason for my rating. Maybe I am unfair to compare their roll with GoldiLocks, but that's the truth! Then the price of the items. I could not believe for only 6 regular sized empanada cost $13 something! Seriously? At a bakery only 30 minutes away from me, they're only 75cents and freshly baked. I did try 2 more bread rolls, the cheese filled ones and they were good. This place is overly priced. I'll stick to my regulars. I can get the the same and better yummies there. read more

Was craving turon so I came here to get one, I've had from here before and I remember it being really good. However, this time I came in and I saw the turon platter just chillin on top of the glass container, it wasn't even covered so the food was just exposed. Had a bad experience just now with the cashier attendant. She's a young girl who has no people skills what si ever. She was very rude not only to me but to other customers as well. She had a nasty attitude dropping the items in the bag as she bags the goods and also looks at the customers with bad looks when customers ask her for items to buy. Im very disappointed since Im always here to buy and support my fellow Filipino businesses. read more

The only thing this place has going for it is the fresh hot pan de sal. What made my experience horrible is the customer service or rather, lack of. Went here to get some fresh ube bread and pan de sal. I got in line and when i reached the register, i simply asked if they accepted only cash because i only had five bucks on me and wasn't sure of their prices because there were no price tags readily apparent. There were also no signs for "cash only" or "credit accepted with minimal purchase of...".The lady rudely responded with a huge sigh and a nasty look: cash, check or at least a $10 purchase with card. I was like okay, so i asked for fresh ube bread, the lady asked how much i wanted, i said half a dozen, the other rudely said they only sell by the bag. So i asked for one, other lady slammed a brown bag of pan de sal in front of me. I asked "do you have any freshly baked ube bread" and one of them rudely said no, we dont have that. So i ordered one bag of pan de sal and a bag of ube bread from the shelf. I walked out of that bakery with a delicious warm bag of bread and a desire to never go back. The most amazing pan de sal outside the Philippines. There is always a line but clearly proof of a good business, when there's a freakin line out the door. Would recommend the Chese roll, they have a log one and also individual dinner roll sized ones. The cheese is creamy sweet with tiny pieces of red inside, red bell peppers maybe, red something. Either way, almost all the bread or rice based items. Anything purple/ube/purple yam is super duper good. Will be back for the ube cup cakes most definitely. read more

There are several Valerio's bakeries in Calicornia, I happened to be near one where ever I go... The bread rolls are good when fresh or even toasted in the toaster oven with whatever you like inside... for me a simple slice of cheese is good. Aside from the the baked goodness of the rolls, I found that the rest is okay. So this spot is pretty much like the rest and deserves an average rating. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't suck, but it's not a place where you would lie awake thinking when you could go there next or count the hours unitl opening... 3 stars, no more, no less read more

Been going here since I was a wee little lad JUST for their hot pan de sal. The register can be a bit slow at times, with all the running and bread packing back and forth from the kitchen to the front, but it's so worth it. When it comes in dat brown paper bag, all hot, plump, and soft in the middle, I just cannot resist! I usually eat one once I hop in the car, in complete silence, before even starting my engine. Then cry and listen to sad love songs. JK about that last part! But it is necessary to have one right away-- it's just so delish! Then I usually eat at least one more during the drive home. Then another one before I put it on the counter up for grabs. It's that good! After posting this review, I'm going to cut one open, stuff it with coffee ice cream, contemplate my life, and enjoy! I stop by Valerio's at least once a week to pick up treats for meetings or goodies bring to my customers as a 'thank you'. I know they are famous for their pan de sal but, personally, I am CRAZY about their macaroons. They're totally different from the crusty conical macaroons I grew up eating, and they're also not like dainty, colorful little French macarons that are so popular these days--not that there's anything wrong with either confection...they're just different, yet equally delicious! So gross!!!! Walked in & the bf pointed out a box of cheese rolls that are known to be good & what do we find? A NAT inside the package!! So i grabbed the package,walked over to the register & in front of the customers that were paying/shopping i told the cashier "thers a nat in here". She said thank you, but didnt seemed to phased or concerned by it. Makes me wonder what else they sell there that's contaminated. read more

Pan de sal is good. Ube bread is good. I really haven't tried a lot of their selections, but from my past trip there I bought the pineapple bread and I ate 2 and my dad had 2 as well and we didn't taste any pineapple. I'm not finishing the rest. I'm taking it back for a refund. I've been to the location in West Covina and that location is 10x better than the Carson location. There defiantly needs to be a QA in their business. read more

The Pan de Ube is definitely the best I've ever tasted! I've been reading reviews here on yelp talking about it but I was hesitant to try because I'm not a fan of "ube" but when i ate it, I was speechless. I would definitely buy it every time I go to the place. One thing I didn't like, that's why I'm only giving 4 stars, is that they don't have the "suman lihia" which is the main reason I went all the way to Carson. I called them and they told me they have it during weekends so I went on a Sunday but they said they'd probably have it Monday. I was a bit disappointed. I just bought the "palitaw" and "pan de ube". I also wanted to buy "sapin sapin" but when I saw it. it looked like it's been sitting there for 2 days. read more

Cannot come to this strip mall and not stop in this place... the smell as you walk by is so enticing! I got different things this time... mostly pan items. pan de coco and pan de ube... both excellent. I also picked up a butter macapuno thing which was awesome. My friend that I came with convinced me to split a hot pandesal with her. At first I was thinking isn't it just a dinner roll? But after my first bite I couldn't believe that a dinner roll could taste so wonderful. Melt in your mouth goodness! My whole car smelled like it and I really think someone should make a pandesal air freshener. And, of course I always have to get a buko pandan salad from the fridge! I also picked up some Ginataan which was right in front of the register... warm tapioca, coconut milk, banana, sweet potato heaven! Now that both Red Ribbon and Goldilocks have sold out and don't do the hot pan de sal anymore, Valerio's is one of my favorite Filipino bakeshops. Growing up my mom used to take us here everyday to get cream cheese rolls & pan de sal. I went recently to get cheese rolls & when I asked for them the lady looked as if I was asking to see an alien. Then when she said there was only ONE my fiance asked "how long would we have to wait for another batch?" She said "No, no more that's it" with an attitude but someone was coming from the back with fresh goods. So they make more of everything else but the cheese rolls? ....sad to say but that will be the last time I go there. read more

I finally found a Valerio's Bake Shop in SoCal, its a bit of a drive from MDR but my bf and I decided to take the trek over to Carson to grab a few bags of their ube pan de sal's. When we arrived, it was a small shop that served up every filipino baked good there could possibly be. I wasn't a huge fan of this location because the service was SUPER SLOW, and the employees were rude. I've had 3 items from this bakery and every one of them wasn't good. The eggroll w/ plantains inside was old and hard to bite into. The ube pan del sal was ginormous and looked like it was on steroids, way too much dough. Each pastry looked like it was made by someone who recently graduated from culinary school whom hasn't quite mastered the art & craft of baking. There's also one located in Seattle, I prefer going to that one since it's cleaner and the baked goods are nicely displayed. The service in Seattle is much faster too. read more

Located along Carson street, valerios bakeshop is in the same plaza as seafood city. They have expanded the bakery and it is way more spacious. They accept credit cards. Their pastries are always fresh and hot pandesal is so good. The line can get long and the parking can get crazy during peak hours, so come early. Their cheese rolls are good, and they have so many things to choose from. read more
