My wife and I decided to get solar when we got our PG&E bills after moving to Cameron Park. My good friend worked for them and she made the whole process easy! She and Mike Lewis (who I don't recommend) both came out and talked to us, my friend answered my very detailed questions (because I'm an engineer and I get very technical), guided us through the application process, and I'm sure they will be very helpful through the installation process. Mike Lewis, on the other hand, missed every single appointment with us after the first appointment, made very sexist and rude comments, and wouldn't stop talking about how great he is and that he's the best solar salesman and that's why you need solar. V3 took everything into their hands. They upgraded our panel, got the permits, installed a Nest thermostat for us, and took care of all the PG&E business, which is great for me because I HATE dealing with PG&E. V3 has a variety of programs, but we chose the one that best suited our situation. Here's a basic explanation of our program: We signed up to pay ~$0.18/kWh for the next 20 years, which is lower than PG&E's lowest tier rate. This rate is what we pay for ALL of the electricity that we generate using V3's solar system. That's it... it's that simple. We will still have an annual true-up with PG&E because you have to pay to be connected to the grid, but if our system performs as well as they say it will, we will only be paying the ~$10/month at that annual true up because our system will supposedly cover 101% of our current electrical usage. I will update my review once the panels are installed and everything is up and working, but so far I am very happy with everything! A bit of a late update, but here it is. So our panels were activated on December 23, 2017. Everything seemed to be working, but after a couple of months we still weren't able to get our production numbers from SunRun. It turns out that the installers didn't flick a switch that would have enabled the communication with SunRun's servers. SunRun's information portal is very limited. There are other companies out there that are WAY ahead of SunRun when it comes to the data side. If you want to see your most productive hours or more detailed information, don't go with V3/SunRun. Through the installation process we had a few issues. When they installed the nest, they screwed the wiring up and we had to call them out again because our heater wasn't working. The new panel that they installed was half the size of our old panel, with every breaker in use. I had to call three separate times to get them to come out and put in some smaller breakers so I had room to expand, which was part of the deal. They asked us if we ever wanted to add a spa or other lines into our house and I said yes. Much to my surprise when they finally installed the new panel there was no extra space in the panel. They also installed a new grounding rod as part of the panel upgrade. I'm not sure why, but their electricians do not know how listen. They first installed the grounding rod so that it BLOCKED OUR GATE. We were unable to access our back yard with it installed. I asked them to just pound it down another 6-8 inches and put a box on it (like your water valve, this is common practice in the construction industry), but instead they cut it off, ripped up my siding, and installed a new one next to my rain gutter... I had to wait an additional 2 months for them to come out and paint our conduits to match the house. To add to that, once we had our first rain storm I came home to my puppy playing in a 10' diameter puddle on our hardwood floors. It seems that V3 forgot to fill a few holes that they drilled on accident.... Since then, we haven't had any problems. The only long term issue I see is that they are a partner with SunRun, so SunRun sends you an email that says you need service, waits three days to tell V3, and then they call you. Honestly, I'd say not to go with them, but it seems like all of these solar outfits are pretty difficult to deal with. read more

This company's communication was terrible. I dealt with three different people who are supposedly my project managers and had to reach out to them for updates. Getting the various approval levels was painfully slow in fact the time I had to cancel took much longer than the time they needed to get things set up. That being said once I notified them of my wish to cancel they reminded me that I had 10 days to cancel or I would have to pay $2,500 and cancellation fees. If I didn't know any better I would think this is part of their business model. Either way I would highly not recommend doing business with this company based on their lack of response, and their lack of follow-up. read more

The install of my system in 2017 went great. I recommended them to several neighbors. Now, 2026, my SolarEdge inverter died. I called them to fix/replace the inverter. Their *written* response was they were too busy, the cost to send a tech to look at the problem was $750, and they would not send a tech for at least several months. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Customer service is garbage. I do not recommend going through this company. Also don't recommend owning your panels/battery outright as I had a 25 year warranty with the solar panel company but they went out of business and now I'm left in the lurch. The install was a little bumpy but eventually got the panels working and everything was going well. I knew that I'd need a new roof soon and they agreed to remove / reinstall the panels at no cost to me when I needed my roof replaced. It is in our contract and yet they will not do it now. They're claiming that they only do new installs now and will only reimburse me a fraction of what it would cost for another contractor to remove and reinstall the panels. It has been almost 3 months of me trying to contact someone at V3 to get them to resolve this matter at the lowest possible level but no one will contact me. I can only get ahold of a call center who keeps forwarding my request to a management queue. I feel terrible as I also recommended this company to my mom shortly after my panels were up and running and her setup was an absolute nightmare. During the solar installation, they caused a water leak due to shoddy workmanship, damaging our new roof leading to black mold. They abandoned the project, leaving us in an unsafe and demolished home for nearly a year. I strongly advise against using their services--look elsewhere! V3 sold me a system 5+ years ago. From the start, their communication about the level of support and promise of warranty was basically a lie to get me to sign up. Once they get the install done, best of luck getting them to support you in any way. Do NOT buy a system from this company. My inverter has gone out twice and each time they told that since i didn't sign up for a monitoring service that there is nothing they can do. They kept telling me to reach out to the manufacturer for support or pay them $750 to have one of their team take a look. Zero accountability, Zero Leadership 5 years ago this was a much different company, it was one I would even recommend. Now you are connected to a call center with no way to talk to anyone who has any power or knows what is going on. V3's new way of doing things is that someone will call you back at some time eventually. They installed solar panels on my roof which the roof ended up need to be replace before 5 years. So they uninstalled the panels at a discount since they acknowledged that it was not meet there minimum viability of a roof standard. The roof was replaced within the week and then it took them over 6 weeks to reinstall. They showed up saying they were only going to install half of it because the other half should already be installed which it wasn't. Then tried to blame us that it was our fault because those weren't V3 panels, which was wrong. Then they mis-measured so they stopped and said we will be back within the week maybe if there schedule person cancels on someone else. No one to call, no one to fix the situation just wait to see what happens. The employee's said they couldn't get a hold of their field manager. I have no way of contacting anyone to solve this issue just wait a week and see if someone calls me or shows up. Leadership at this company are cowards that hide behind customer service so they never have to speak to a customer and aren't held accountable at there poor planning and management. The first time they installed panels there was a thunder storm and the only way I was able to get a hold of anyone was through my sales rep. the employee's were scared and I said that they needed to get off the roof if V3 wasn't covering the liability if something happened. I wish I had seen these reviews.. they under built our system based on the previous homeowner. We told them our plans to build a pool, spa ect. And for a 2800 sq. Ft. Home they said 25 panels at least.. gave us 13.. as we are just now finding out. It saddens me they gave us the run around didn't take any accountability for this. Solar is such a scam another thing to prove My theory correct. Now they aren't working with the solar company who is now going bankrupt. So even if we wanted to add more panels they are saying we have to go through another solar company. Sooooo basically two solar company's. This is a joke. The building inspector for the county showed up - the electric box was off by 3" and had to be red rolled and replaced according to building code. Horrible business practices. First time was on Memorial Day. We were hanging out in the pool when the dogs freaked out. I went to see what they were barking at and two dudes had climbed over my gate into my yard. "Oh, we thought your dogs would be much smaller." They they go in acting like they are affiliated with PG&E. Once I realized they were selling solar, I told them to leave. They tried to claim they could be here because they are a utility company. Not on my property you aren't. You're not welcome here. I immediately called on Memorial Day, and was surprised someone answered. I let him know how pissed I was with their intrusiveness and trespassing on Memorial Day. He said oh, we do that because more people are home. Now tonight at 7pm, as I was about to get in the hot tub, the dogs freak out. I go I check it out, expecting a deer. Nope, they're they are climbing over my gate. I get a bit more dressed and go out front. Again, acting like they are associated with PG&E, "I'm sure you're aware of the undergrounding going on. You should have gotten a written notice about this." I said no. Then he gets out a laminated paper and it clicked as to who they were. I asked if they're are selling solar, he said no. I told them I wasn't interested, and again, he said he has to inform me of something about the PG&E undergrounding. I told them he needs to leave and they are not with PG&E. His reply was "we are tied into PG&E". Not here, you're not. We have not used this company purposely. The first time their rep came to the door, they told me that for them to install solar on the house, they would have to cut our trees down, front and rear. One is a century oak. I told them I was not interested. And then two weeks ago, a guy came to the door dressed in a yellow safety vest and told me he was there in compliance with a PG&E mandate. As we had rec'd a text from PGE telling us that they were inspecting our pole for replacement, I assumed that is why he was there. He then launched into a diatribe about PG&E working on their infrastructure, etc. He then got around to asking about our electricity bills. After a lengthy discussion, he finally said, "To be perfectly honest, I'm from V3 electric and I'd like to discuss a solar panel option for you." After his misleading introduction, I told him to get lost. Great sales pitch to get us into contract. Then they dropped the ball w PG&E and what should have been a quick switch over of some sort in the pre installation process left us w out power for 6 days I believe. Nightmare. Cost them $800 in hotel, groceries and reconnecting the At&t internet line they cut and didn't take accountability for. I think we were w out internet for almost 2 weeks. Sales guy who was supposed to be the resource for any issues never returned calls from this point forward. Install team was told by PG&E (I think) that since we were in a flood zone the equipment install would probably need to happen very high up in the air, like above the roof line. V3 proceeded to try and work out details w the city of San Jose and us (half-heartedly) for a few months. They were over-communicative about the fact that they wanted to resolve it but didn't know how, to the point that I asked them to just leave us alone for a few weeks and figure it out. It was pretty amateur. Many weeks later they picked it up, started texting us randomly through their automated system (which felt scammy but turned out to be legit), but then our project manager didn't know they were doing that. We asked for meetings but the requests went unanswered. Finally we got a communication that said they received our request to cancel and understood our position. We never asked to cancel and they just stopped calling us back. SOO weird. Totally understand this was a tough scenario to manage, with some curveballs. Extremely Disappointed - Proceed with Caution I normally don't leave reviews, but my experience with V3 compels me to warn others. This company has proven to be misleading, untrustworthy, and completely lacking in accountability. We were promised a specific rate for a certain number of panels--only to end up with fewer panels while still being charged the full rate. When we raised our concerns, the customer service was abysmal. If you even manage to get a hold of someone, prepare yourself for the runaround. You'll be bounced from one person to another, with each representative claiming, "It's not me, it's them." No one takes ownership, and you end up back where you started--frustrated and unheard. This is not a company that stands by its word. Their practices are, in my opinion, deceptive, and their customer service is unresponsive and unhelpful. I feel misled and taken advantage of. I would not recommend V3 to anyone under any circumstances. To V3 management: You need to be held accountable for how you treat customers. This is no way to run a business, and people deserve better. I had V3 Electric out of Eldorado Hills install my solar system back in 2020. At the time I took issue with one of their sales reps who didn't do a very good job, but four years later, I realize I was too hard on the company. I recently had the inverter go out, and I was unaware that my system wasn't producing any electricity. I received a text from V3, letting me know there were having a tech dispatched to replace the bad inverter. Their tech arrived on time and within an hour had the inverter replaced and my system back online. I really appreciate their efforts and hopefully if you are looking for a solar system, you give V3 consideration. They sent Eric who came out to my house quickly for the initial sales appointment 2 months ago. Then a guy come out the next week to take pictures and walk back and forth on my roof for an hour. They gave me a list of tasks which I diligently completed while I waited for their proposal appointment call which never came. After a month of waiting, I called them to remind them that I am cash in hand ready and desperate to mitigate my PG&E bill. They set an appointment time for Eric to come back and deliver the proposal which I was pretty much going to sign regardless of what the numbers looked like due to our ridiculous energy costs. Instead of simply showing up for our appointment and making a quick commish, he no call/no showed which was not cool since I took the day off to accommodate the appointment. Both my wife and I unknowingly reached out to find out what happened and were both told that they would get to the bottom of it quickly and get back to us right away. Another week went by and finally I called to thank them for wasting 2 months of our life and that our $$$ was going to one of their competitors. Absolutely non-existent salesmanship and follow through. Thanks for nothing. Don't even bother calling V3.... there are so many other great options out there who want to do right by their customers and close the deal ASAP. Shame on you, V3 for being so bad at the basics!! Horrible company. I got solar through them 2 years ago. They never explained true up to me. Said I would save all this money. Said that I wouldn't require the battery system unless there were power outages. Now I have $2000 true up bills, $400 a month payments on panels that don't produce enough and im stuck with this unless I file bankruptcy or foreclosure on the house. The Mosaic company they do finances with went bankrupt and when I ask V3 for any help with this they don't. Horrible customer service and overall Horrible company. read more

Damaged house and refusing to make things right. They have had to come back several times to try to repair it unsuccessfully. I have been fighting them to pay for damages to my house for over 5 months now. They no call no showed several times throughout the install, made my wife uncomforbale with innapropriate comments from employees and now are fighting me over trying to repair damages to my house including drilling several holes into the side of my house that are now left open and some were improperly patched. They drilled holes in a the breaker panel on the exterior of my house that were never covered up. Lags into the roof of my house were loose and now an issue with the rainy season coming. We are 6 months in.............. 6 months in with panels on the roof for at least 3 months. Still not hooked up. Technician crew came about 2 weeks ago to install new main panel. Install was not approved by the inspector and was told they would show up the following day. 2 weeks later, they are still not here to fix the work and even worse, they cut a terrible hole in the roof to pipe the new wires through. With rain coming, water will be flowing next to my home causing potential foundation issues. It's one mistake after another with this company with a continued runaround saying "we are working on it." In all honesty, I would have canceled months ago if it wasn't for the fact they said they would install a MPU for free. There is no prioritization for the mistakes they have made. DO NOT TRUST THEM. First, I was told once everything got started it would take 3-4 weeks. Try 8 months. The story their sales rep told me about since I already have solar panels if I add more I would continue not receiving a monthly bill from PG&E. The only bill I would receive would be the end of year true up, but I would produce enough energy to eliminate the EOY true up. That was absolutely not true. The EOY true up does go away, but only because I have to pay it every month now. Before V3 & Sunnova I was paying a monthly Average of $575. Buy the end of the year I will be paying an average of $700 a month. I contacted PG&E. PG&E said by adding more panels I went from rate schedule NEM 1 to NEM 3, which requires the bill to be paid monthly. Now with their partners, Sunnova, I have a monthly PG&E bill plus & payment to Sunnova. I was told my Sunnova payment would never be more than $150.00. Last bill was $166.00. When I contacted Sunnova I was told that my payment was based on how much electricity the solar panels produce. The more they produce, the higher the bill, so the more I pay each month. read more

The lack of clear communication made the whole process frustrating and confusing. To top it all off, after 9 months of waiting and numerous calls, the solar battery was never even hooked up. The least professional company I have ever done business with. They undersized my original system and I got hit with a $3,000 true-up. They "attempted" to build a second system to add additional power, but have literally strung it along for an entire year. The lack of organization is almost comical, the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing. Due to their gross incompetence and negligence, I got hit with another $3,000 true-up. I am paying more for power now than I ever have. They do not return phone calls or emails, and if you do manage to get someone on the phone they promise to call back with a resolution, yet that call never comes. V3 contacted US to provide a quote on solar power. They showed up unannounced and didn't respect our wishes as to when they would come out. However, once the inspection was done, we were literally just quoted a dollar amount per month, not shown any paperwork, quote, details, didn't even understand if the system was leased or owned. They were incredibly pushy and when asked for a quote, said they couldn't provide it without a credit check, which is not true, we received multiple quotes for solar last year, with no issues whatsoever. After reading the reviews on this business and the fact yelp states they are closed, when in fact, they are not, there is no chance we'd even consider working with a company like this. V-3 Electric teamed with Everbright and recently "convinced" my 93-year-old mother to sign an agreement to add solar to her house in Oroville, CA which already had solar for 12 years, and she had grandfathered-in NEM metering. They told her it would save money. Since the switch over her electric cost has increased! And it caused us to lose the PG&E NEM metering deal. John at PG&E Solar Hot-line (877-743-4112) tells me that the NEM metering was lost because more than 10% increased panel capacity was added, which caused the termination of the grandfathered NEM metering (and which John assures me V-3 Electric & Everbright were fully aware of.) She was not competent and had glaucoma. Though historically she was a voracious reader, in the last years she "read" via audio books. She was also hard of hearing and easily misled. The document was docu-signed, but I do NOT believe she did it or that she could have understood what she was doing. In addition to increased electrical fees from PG&E, we received the first monthly bill of ~$179 for a 25-yr contract, which brought this matter to my attention. Paul Magda was our first contact with V3 electric. He was very knowledgeable and answered a lot of questions we had. We were very skeptical of the process. They helped through each step though and and we are very happy with the system and the installation process. So happy we got in when we did as energy costs continue to skyrocket and we have a set monthly bill that is loads cheaper than PG&E. My only constructive criticism would be that V3 improve their line of communication between sales reps, installation crews and customer. These people have no idea what they're doing. Can't even do a permit correctly. "Asinine". Update: after this review they finally came out to start the "two day" installation. Which is now actually a 3-4 day installation! Wasn't this part of the planning that took almost two month's?!? V3 still doesn't have a date to come back and finish the job...... plus I still have no way to charge my EV..... Not to mention after everything is done I'll still have to have an inspection for it to be "completely powered" on who knows how long that part will take..... if you haven't signed anything with this company, DON'T!! V3 Solar System company contractor lied to have me signed on the tract and I contact the company, they claimed that there is no proof that their employee has lied and they refused to do anything about it, when I have sent them all the proof I have on my phone. He lied about paying less bill, that I only pay $150 per month for the V3 and I will have only pay $12 for Edison's bill, but now I pay twice as much compared to before I signed on the tract with them. Occasionally, I pay $149 for Edison before, not every month. The V3 solar has sent me the bill of$165 when I was promised to pay only $150 for the next 25 years. What a rip off and I have went through all kind of problems with them since the beginning of time. They won't cancel my Solar and stated that I made it all up with the scenarios. They have the worst INSTALLERS for their solar systems, they were incorrectly installed the panels and repeatedly came out to my house for fixing.
