They listened to our priorities and were highly informative about multiple options for panels and batteries; offered the best pricing BY FAR among four companies that bid (about 15% lower than the next best!); and exceeded our expectations for speedy installation. At our request, they installed the wiring/conduit under the roof and inside of walls for a clean look, at no additional expense. They took care of everything that was needed with PGE, then set up the system operation per our preferences -- so we didn't have to do a thing. (Based on PGE savings, the system will pay for itself in just under 5 years.) A year later, when we had a few questions, Heath responded within minutes. I wanted to wait before writing this review, so I could really see how the solar and battery system performed over time. It's now been over two years since our solar system was installed in Sept 2023. The installation itself went smoothly and the team worked hard to make sure everything was completed in time to meet the PG&E application deadline. Everyone I worked with was professional, friendly, and easy to communicate with. After the installation, I had a few questions and the team was quick to respond and genuinely helpful. I really appreciate knowing that their support didn't end once the system was paid for and that help is always there if needed. Since the installation, our electric bills have dropped significantly, and we haven't experienced a single issue. The system has been running efficiently and doing exactly as proposed. One of my biggest concerns at the beginning was having work done on our roof, but after two years and plenty of rainy days, I'm happy to say we've had zero problems. - TL;DR: I'm left with the impression that Excite overpromises and under delivers, and is not truly concerned for its customers outside of getting paid. I am hoping their workmanship and post-installation support is not commensurate with the customer service I've experienced to date. - My project was scheduled for installation on December 8. I was told installation would take 2 to 3 days. - Leading up to December 8, I was told installation would instead start on December 11. No explanation or apology was provided. I was at least reassured it would still be a 2-3 day process. - On December 17, installation remained incomplete. I was told installation would be completed on December 22 and that an inspection would be completed on December 23. - On December 22, I had not heard from Excite all day. It did not look like work had been done on my project. I called and asked if work had been done on my project. I was told that installation had been completed earlier in the day and that the inspection would proceed as planned. - On December 23, the inspector showed up. Excite did not. I called Excite multiple times and couldn't get anyone on the phone. I emailed and could not get an immediate response. The inspector left. Heath eventually called me and I learned for the first time that: (1) installation had not actually been completed, even though I had been told otherwise; and (2) the inspection should have been postponed, but wasn't. Heath took no ownership for the miscommunication about my project completion, the fumbled inspection, or my project generally. He would not commit to a firm plan or timeline for completing my installation or having the inspection done. - So 2+ weeks into a 2 to 3 day installation, my project remains incomplete. Other than my brief call with Heath, throughout the process I haven't been provided proactive updates about the prolonged installation time, updated timelines to completion, or really any pertinent information. The job site was also left unkempt on a day to day basis. A waste basket's worth of debris was left around my property and the interior of my home was left incredibly dirty. - As it stands would not recommend Excite to friends or family. read more

We moved to the Placerville area in November of 2022. I knew we'd need solar to offset the costs of running our AV non-stop during the summer and our heater for several months in the winter. My niece and her husband said they'd done tons of research and found Exicite Energy to be honest and really knew what they were talking about. Not one to rely on others research I started doing my own. Most of the solar companies I interviewed were very sales oriented. I felt like they were in a hurry and I was just a number. Kudos to Excite Energy in EDH for a great Solar & Battery installation. I was planning on installing solar this year due to the nonstop rate increases from PG&E. I talked to seven different solar providers, including Tesla, to get educated and pricing. I went with Excite Energy because 1) they had one of the best quoted prices, 2) they are based in EDH, and 3) Heath Kirin, the owner did a great job presenting their solution and explaining exactly why their solution was best for our requirements. As a follower of latest technology info, I appreciated the level of detail he went into. This level of detail may not for everyone, but it showed me that Excite really knows what they're doing. Didn't have the same feeling for sales people from the other companies. Further, their layout of total long term costs and incentives/credits was more comprehensive than any other competitor's. After signing a contract, they worked directly with my HOA and PG&E to handle everything. Only thing I had to do was schedule a county inspection. Really painless. The team did a great job with the install, with no problems. Arianna handled everything as project mgr. and was quick to respond with any questions I had. Excite installed Hanwha Q-cell panels and a Tesla Powerwall 3 battery. They have advised me to go with the "Tesla Power Plant" as a better way to earn money/credits than SGIP from PG&E. I recently completed the process of having solar panels installed for my home. From start to finish working with Excite Energy has been a great experience. I had a no pressure interaction with their sales rep. Christina. Who was always quick to respond to my questions. Originally it was a toss up between sunpower and excite. Heath gave me a very reasonable offer and all the reassurances and warranties their competitor offered. The installers that came were very professional and courteous. They are not contractors but employees of the company, something I see value in as it ensures their workmanship is based on customer satisfaction set by the company. They came off very knowledgeable and well trained. Other than signing the contract and issuing payments, Excite took care of all the admin process with the utility company and city inspection. This also included registering my panels and workmanship for warranty protection. I was updated in the progression and given notices to of completion through each step. Be careful with these guys, they are anxious to do your install and take your money, but not responsive to request for information. I have now had four teams calls, where one the owner has not shown up for my training. Do not give them a final payment until you get everything you want from them. And be prepared for them to cut you loose once you've paid them. We are currently installing another system in another house or building, there are better solar battery contracts out there with more current technology than these guys. I am living it, and I know it. These guys actually at one point admitted to me they had gotten so busy that they put me on the back burner. Not what you want to hear. read more

I have been looking to install solar for a few years, and gone through at least 10 quotes / consultations with various companies (lease, lease to own, outright purchasing). Surprisingly, there were many highly rated solar companies for me to choose from. I received quotes from 4 different companies in the area and SolarNorcal was the most responsive with the best price. As we all know the best price does not mean the best service, Heath at SolarNorcal was extremely knowledgeable and put me at ease. Throughout the whole process Heath continued to communicate with me and was very patient with my lack of knowledge in this industry. We found the process with Excite energy to be pretty seamless. We received seven quotes from various companies around the greater Sacramento area. We appreciated the up front design and quoting process. The install team showed up as promised and exceeded our expectations. The foreman in charge of the job was very respectful and made sure the box was placed where my husband wanted it on the garage wall. They painted the exterior conduit to match the house for a seamless transition. The 19 panel roof top mount is low profile. It does exactly what they said it would do. They did it on time in spite of the never ending rain in 2023. The only hiccup was communication on install day and a sign that is specific to our city that has to be on the electrical panel. All issues were resolved timely and professionally. I had some questions after install because I had not remembered exactly what was ordered. They were met with courtesy and professionalism. I live in a new construction home where solar was offered as an option, but I wasn't thrilled about the quality and cost of the panels being offered by the builder. We're now just over six months following the installation of home solar by Excite Energy. We could not be more pleased with the purchase and installation experience and, now, with some months of operational experience under our belt. The system works flawlessly and generates very well. Back Up Generator What with going through many PSPS and rolling black outs over the 30+ years of living here in El Dorado Hills, we realized after this and last year that we needed a backup emergency generator. My husband and I met with a lot of solar sales folks and received 9 other bids before receiving Heath's bid through email. At first we did not consider them a top contender for our business. Our attention was focused on the folks we met in person. Then I emailed a question or two to Heath. He always responded very timely which then made me pay more attention to SolarNorcal. After closely looking at the proposed system and doing some initial research, I sent him more piecemeal questions. Some of my questions were basic and repetitive but Heath was always patient, honest, direct, forthcoming, and respectful. I really didn't want to write a bad review for Solar Norcal, but an honest review is better than no review. I had SolarNorcal install my solar system a few years ago, while there was some problems the company took care of them. So I figured I'd call up Solar Norcal to get a outdoor receptacle installation quote. After texting to confirm the date and time, I took time off work one morning to meet and describe what I wanted. After the discussion, Heath said he'd send me a quote. Three weeks later no quote, nothing....even after sending a reminder text. If you don't want the job, that's fine, but just say so, no hard feelings...but at least I'll know right away to either have someone else do it or I'll just install it myself. read more

I got bids from at least five different solar companies. These guys were the second lowest per watt. But more importantly, Heath patiently answered all of my questions. I was concerned about any possible interference with our attic mounted TV antenna. He was the only one who looked into it for me. And he came back with an honest answer. In fact, he answered all of my questions honestly. You can't ask for any more than that. (In case you're wondering, the SolarEdge optimizers are not interfering, even though they are within 15-20 feet of our antenna on the same side of the house as the TV signal enters. We did not put a panel in direct line of sight between the antenna and the TV signals- left about an 8 foot window of unobstructed roof space.) The installation went smoothly. We have lightweight tiles on our roof, and were pre-warned by a roofing contractor that they would break easily. They did break several tiles during the install, but they replaced the ones they broke. And they didn't break nearly as many as I would have expected. Also, it's nice that they ran the conduit through the attic space rather than over the roof, like some installations I've seen. They even painted the conduit on the side of the house near our electrical box so it would blend in with the house. read more

STAY AWAY!! I am one of the customer so I can give first hand information right from installation to post installation support. It was bad experience all along. My installation work was about to start on the day, so I took day off so installers could get to my house and install. Installers did not show that day and did not even bother to call. Considering, I had taken day off for installation and left my work. So I called Heath , he was not even apologetic and instead told me it's common in construction business for people to not show up. Hmm.. After few days, their crew came to install panels and ready to install. By chance, I happened to notice that they were installing different panels than what I paid for. If I would had not noticed they would have installed wrong panels. How can one miss it? So I called Heath again, he started blaming me for their mistake that I should have got these panels instead, then he started blaming his crew. He chose to focus on blame game rather than the issue.. Very unprofessional.. Later I noticed they damaged drive way and concrete of the house. Since I already paid initial money, I was struck. I wanted to pull out, maybe I should have even after initial payment. After installation the whole system went down for couple of days for no support. Now I have one of the panel producing only 30%. At first, they were on denial there was no problem. Then he started blaming on shades. After repeated calls, they showed up after 15 days. 15 days is a long time given panel is not producing much. Now they pointed out its a satellite dish issue. Lets assume it was dish issue, The dish was there since 2012 much much before they did installation. How can it be missed at inspection and during installation when dish is next to panels? Again crappy job and bear no responsibility to fix it Asking me to call third party company to fix it. Panel is now down and not producing much. I feel company lacks quality and professionalism. They tend to lean towards finding excuse or blaming someone whether its their crew or supplier or customer. I paid money to Solarnorcal, I did not pay to listen to their excuses. Company claims to be 5 star, how can a company which works like this to be a 5 star (does not show up on appointments, damage customer property, poor jobs). Given my experience, I am having trouble even rating them 1 star. This review is overdue. Started working with Heath in June. Heath's quote was a little better than Tesla but really sold me was that he did solar for many of the homes in my neighborhood. It was scheduled for July. Only took three days. The crew was phenomenal! Very nice to work with and cleaned up any debris at the end of each day. Our PGE bill in the summer was averaging $295! Got our first solar bill mid August, $12.87 with a true back $18! It was so nice to write that check to PGE! read more

SolarNorcal installed a system at my parent's house after they extensively interviewed 5 companies. We narrowed it down to 2 companies and interviewed them. SolarNorcal uses superior panels at a lower price. Not only that, Heath does not try to sell you at all. He gives you ALL the data, and you make your decision. In fact, he told my grandmother it would not benefit her to go solar. He's a very knowledgeable, honest guy. We've had our system almost a year now. He installed the perfect amount of panels since we have broken even all year (we don't owe much at all on our True Up). One panel seemed to under perform all of a sudden and Heath immediately located it and told us we needed to trim back a tree. Sure enough, the tree was shading it a little bit. Problem solved! We solicited 7 bids for our solar project & Solar NorCal was by far the most detailed bid & the most professional company that we dealt with. Heath is extremely knowledgeable (he has a degree in Electrical Engineering) so he's head & shoulders above some of the salespeople we dealt with at other companies. With 7 bids, the process took a while before we made a final decision but Heath was very patient & answered our multiple questions in detail, with never a hint of sales pressure. Their bid was 2nd-lowest but the peace of mind from going with such a professional organization was well worth the few hundred $$ difference from the lowest bidder. Solar Norcal deserves every penny for their top notch customer service & professional work ethic. I did my research when we wanted to install solar and got 4 or 5 bids from the installers. Heath's bid was not lower but very competitive and of all the bids I got he seemed to know what he's doing and answered all my technical questions with extreme detail. I dont want to end up with a botched install neither do I want to penny pinch and go with someone who's not going to be in the business in few years. So I went with Solar Norcal and very pleased with the results. This was 4 years ago and last month I noticed that my inverter went kaput, Heath responded right away, got the replacement under warranty and replaced my unit within 24 hours of receiving the equipment, all for FREE (the inverter's covered by SolarEdge and SolarNorcal covers labor for 20 years). The overall customer service & professionalism displayed makes it worthwhile to pick this local owned business and I'll be sure to recommend them to my friends for their solar needs. PS: wish I had known the solaredge inverter issues before, its really not worth to have your entire system down in peak summer because your inverter is dead. Enphase microinverters seem like a better choice, if few panels go bad, at least your production from other panels is not impacted. read more
