I was very concerned about this location with the less than stellar reviews, but we ended up loving this place! The check in could have been better. I had no idea that the building that I was staying in was about 2 miles away from the check in. The guys didn't care too much about you unless you spoke spanish, then they lit up and were happy to help. Outside of that I loved everything about this stay and will definitely be back. I purchased a timeshare in 2007 after getting out of the navy. Used it about five times. Locations are always far from the main vacation locations ie. off the strip at Vegas or not near the slopes at Tahoe. I did not know enough about it at the time but would never recommend owning a timeshare to anyone. Terrible experience and the management company holds you in the contract unless you basically give it away. Unless you actually vacation regularly. Do not get involved with this organization. While I am unable to review this venue outside of a polling precinct, I can say that the two times I've been there, the grounds have been immaculate and the landscape a lulu. I can only imagine how nice they keep the rooms and the common areas inside. If I was a tourist, or someone needing a place to stay for a couple of days for a game or a concert at the BB&T, for instance, or maybe that someone traveling for business, or to visit family and didn't want to impose; this would be the place I would make reservations at for two or three days--maybe even a week's stay. read more

first time having a b unit at Flamingo building. small pool with very old furniture, found cockroach in the bedroom, windows were filthy and only had one window, had to look out green mossy film, musty smell in bedroom and dresser, no bedding was provided for pullout until we called, service was slow for maintenance issues, drain in tub stayed down and had to manually hold it to let it drain. very outdated and could have been cleaner. read more

There are quite a few Vacation Village properties and buildings around the Weston area. We stayed for one week at the Mizner Place at the Weston Town Center and then switched to this one, the Vacation Village at Bonaventure. We were in the Heron 2 building. It was very clean and perfectly adequate but rather dated, with saggy furniture and old appliances. There were also some broken items (our A/C/ventilation didn't work at first, and one of the kitchen cupboard doors was broken). The water pressure in the shower was very weak, and the kitchen and living area had zero natural light and some old dated mirrors on the walls. Our neighbors were also loud and we could hear them watching TV until 3am, and could also smell their fish meals when they were cooking (bleah). Aside from these gripes, it was fine, just very no-frills. I'd prefer staying at the Mizner Place one instead. I will say the pool area and landscaping were very nice. Just wished the outside matched the inside a bit more. read more

3.5 Stars if I could. My unit was clean (Herron) but one of the elevators was broken and there were some weird smells in the hallways. Inside the unit, no complaints except they seem to be really cheap on towels and toiletries. Hot tub was also not working. Pool area is nice and they have a free shuttle to anywhere within a few mile radius. The town center area was surprisingly really fun, especially on New Years Eve. Another really annoying thing were having no on-site restaurants, bars, or places to buy groceries. You had to walk to a gas station or go to Publix and stock up. If you want to stay a few extra days (I did) it was a rip off and you had to always go to the front desk and sign paperwork to do it. Overall, comfortable stay and staff were friendly enough. Definitely an interesting area to stay in South Florida at the end of the year and into the New Year - local area is definitely underrated. read more

Timeshare owners beware. They will put you in the older units. And walked in and the remotes for the TVs weren't working. Had to wait for those to come up. Sliding doors were impossible. 100 pounds each to open up to the balcony. Had to wait for them to come and oil them and then had to put up with squeaky sliding doors all week long. If they try to get you to a luncheon quote-" and say that there is no presentation that is untrue. They tried to give you a whole presentation and get you to see the new model plan on spending it at least 2 hours for your visa gift card. None owners get $350 on a gift card but owners will only get $100. Gift card set an extra perk? We have been many of our RCI timeshare things and by far this was one of the worst read more

They should consider re-naming this property to the "Asterisks Hotel". To detail why I am reviewing this property so poorly, I'll give some background - I was attending a conference at the Bonaventure Resort and Spa. I wanted to be as close to the venue as possible, and this location seemed like a great mix of location* and price. Here's the first asterisks - if you book here, there are two properties: Weston and Bonaventure. I had selected the Bonaventure properties, which have nearly identical addresses to Weston on Google maps. When I checked in, I was directed to a room which would have been a 10-15 minute walk or more to my conference. The Sandpiper I rooms, while clean, are extremely dated and would be out-classed by almost any La Quinta or Holiday Inn. Even Motel 6 would have nicer rooms. Heading back to the front desk, I expressed that this was not what I was expecting when I booked the property. My wife and infant son would be using the car during most of the day, and I would not have booked a venue so far away from the conference intentionally. I was told about the second asterisks - "You used a third party website, you should have checked our website". I don't really see this as an appropriate response as I would venture to estimate that the majority of the booking business here is via third party sites (Hotels.com, Google Hotels). Furthermore, they told me while there was something available at Vacation Village at WESTON (I apparently made a mistake booking at BONAVENTURE), I would have the pleasure of paying $25 a night to change rooms. Over a 4 night stay, and with many hotels in the area full for the conference, I had no choice. The $25 a night increase put this hotel above what we were expecting to pay, and worse, we could have stayed at other nicer properties that would have provided breakfast* (not included), toiletries* (other than a bar of soap, not even a mini shampoo was present in the bathroom), and much more. When I checked in, a shuttle service was offered stating they would be able to drop us off anywhere within a 3 mile radius. At least I can utilize some benefit of this property to meet my family right? I went up to request to be dropped off at nearby Markham Park. When I got into the shuttle, they noted they can't go in there. I was dropped off at a Shell Station and had to walk underneath I-75 across several lanes of busy traffic. A final asterisks. The dated quality of the room, staff response to our dissatisfaction, and the lack of benefits are what made this a 2-star experience. I would not recommend this property to anyone. read more

Mizner Place Weston was wonderful, clean sparkling , warm pool kept up each day with friendly staff who gave classes in the water as well as on the pool deck to all who wanted to participate. I loved being there with convenient stores a few minutes walking. The place was very clean , the Staff was so so friendly and helpful. The units were well equipped but anything missing could be gotten from housekeeping right away. The Staff offered info about various excursions available also. I loved the large changing room / shower/ rest rooms right there beside the pool most of all and the ice machine there also. Mizner offers comp coffee in the 'AM and lemonaid in the after noon to the pool guests. Its quiet and dignified and a wonderful place to escape for a vacation. read more

I am writing this review while I am currently staying at the Vac Village at Bonaventure, in the "old" section on Blatt Blvd. I will say this: DO NOT STAY HERE -- unless you are in a "A" unit at the main complex on Racquet Club Rd. We've stayed at Mizner's Place and would stay there again in a heartbeat, but the "B" units here are awful. Now to why I gave the place only 2 Stars. First day: after checking in on Friday, things are fine but on Saturday, no hot water for the entire building! Now, I'm not blaming anyone, these things happen; just not something you want on your first day of vacation Second day: Signed up (OK, coerced) for the Owners Tour and Buffet Breakfast. Was promised that this is NOT a sales presentation because I'm an owner. LIES LIES LIES! Let's just say, 2 hours later, I was not a happy camper; they were rude and expressed an attitude that it's my fault that I wasted their time! Day 3: Knock! Knock! Maintenance here to fix your room safe. What!? I didn't report any broken room safe; mine is working fine. Day 4: Knock! Knock! Housekeeping here to do your room.... Huh? The front desk told me you guys coming Wednesday, today's Tuesday.... Day 5: Knock! Knock! Housekeeping here to make up room since you are checking out today.... Whoa!!! I'm here until Saturday, a full week! Get out of here! I called Front Desk...they know nothing about this! Told them to make sure NOBODY, AND I MEAN NOBODY comes to my room unless I call them and ask them to come here! Called the front desk again later; asked for the manager, who has gone for the day. We had a very pleasant experience at Vacation Village. We stayed with friends in Pembroke Pines the first two nights of our vacation, and then finished off the week at VV, Weston. We booked those days last minute, on a cancellation, and we're thrilled we were able to get in anywhere, as it was mid-spring break time. True, Weston is not Ft. Lauderdale or Miami, but we found those places to be within easy reach, as well as a day trip we took down to Key West, and one up to Jupiter for a look at Marlins spring training. It was a great locale: slow when you wanted to be away from the action, but close enough to the action that a night on the town was easily within reach. We really liked our space. It was modern with a fully stocked kitchen, and HUGE bathroom, which included a deep jacuzzi tub just off the bathroom of the master suite. We also took advantage of the wonderful pool area on a few occasions. Our interactions with the staff, found them to be friendly and helpful at every turn. My one negative comment was that I was charged twice (once by RCI, and once by the resort) for maintenance and usage fees, and I am still sorting out who owes me a credit. But overall, I really liked the place, and felt it offered great access to all that South Florida has to offer. I would return in a heartbeat. read more

I do NOT recommend this place to ANYONE unless you're already an owner of one of their timeshares because if you're NOT, you're treated as a red-headed step child! One of my friends allowed me to buy her bonus week because we ended up in a bind regarding where my family (4 of us) would lodge during our trip to Florida, which was only a week away when we found out! We were so grateful and excited to be staying at a resort/spa! Pshhh! I don't know WHY! Our night at the Sleep Inn on our way to Florida was way better quality than what we're dealing with NOW at this so-called resort! Long story short, I feel like we were put into the Section 8/The Hood of the resort.... into the overflow area where they put someone in an emergency situation! The "condo" was no more than an overrated efficiency that looks like it hasn't been updated since the late 70s! We didn't receive ANY housekeeping services; we had to call for clean towels and toilet paper! Our room was never vacuumed and the bathroom was never cleaned during our week-long stay! We took out our own trash! When we mentioned it to the staff a few days later, they blamed US for not telling them that day so someone could come clean the next day (Sorry! Didn't think I had to remind YOU to do your job!). I was irritated the entire week! It didn't help that my family was squeezed into a one-bedroom with an old, FLAT pull out sofa sleeper in the living room/kitchen! Oh! And did I mention it smelled like MOLD when we first opened the door?!? To top this review off, the Timeshare presentation was forced on us via offering a free "gift" to us for sitting through the 3- hour timeshare presentation with some VERY aggressive and PUSHY sales people who wouldn't take "no" for an answer until like my 5th VERY pissed off rejection. I will NEVER stay at this "resort" again. The ONLY reason I rated it 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the location and general aesthetics of it! read more

We visited vacation village, the flamingo units through the in-law's timeshare. Had a wonderful time!! Right off the bat they were accommodating to bringing our dog. 125$ fee with a 250$ deposit, which sounds like a lot but my dog is very well behaved and will not destroy anything. $125 for the week is nothing compared to boarding fees not to mention peace of mind, having her with us. We stayed in the suite A units. Highly recommended. Huge king bed, large living quarters, giant kitchen. Bathroom had a double headed shower head. Best part was the jetted hot tub in the room! Patio was lovely, looked over the lake on the golf course. Staff very friendly and helpful. Can't say enough good things about this place. We loved it! Not too much to do in weston itself, best recommendation is Markham park. 5min drive away. Bring your mtn bike and walking shoes. Great BIG dog park. Just bring proof of rabies vaccination. Fort Lauderdale is close, plenty to do and a beautiful beach. This place deserves 5 stars solely for the relaxation it brings! read more

Extremely clean, quite and well kept. I don't know why anyone would have complaints. Giant shower with two heads, large living room and dinning area. All you need to cook like its your own home. Plenty of parking, some covered. 5 pools with tons of activities and a shuttle for getting around the near locations. The balcony has a lovely view of the area. Let me start out by saying do not own a time share here but I bought a week from a friend who does. I honestly was really disappointed. Here is the bad: The entrance to the room smelled like dirty diapers, the seats on the dining room table had food on them (like a toddler might have just been eating spaghetti while sitting there), when I pulled out the spare blanket it had POO on it!! I left it by the entrance for the maid to take it and she refolded it and put it back in the closet. The staff is pushy and will talk you.....or should I say.......scam you....into attending a very uncomfortable time share presentation once they find out you don't own one. When you tell them your not interested they make you feel as though you murdered their first born child!! The good: the pool and hot tub are huge and really, really nice. The place is very quiet, and spacious, the grounds are beautifully kept up and the buildings are very nice. They have computers for use as well as useful tourism information. Sorry but....the bad out weighs the good because the good you can find at most hotels in the area, the bad.....prolly not. I would honestly stay away from any of the Vacation Villages (they are all over) The sales ppl will do nothing short than harass you to purchase a time share. read more

We arrived early afternoon. After checking in and receiving our keys, we were directed to the "guest services" desk to pick up a parking permit. Things took an ugly turn when the agent at the table demanded a 20$ deposit to participate in a time share sales lunch. Although we made it clear we were not interested, she repeatedly reminded us that if we attend we would get the deposit back in the form of a gift card. When we polity declined for the third time she became aggressive, and raising her voice she stood up, tore our paper work dramatically, and started talking to the agent besides her about "people who don't want free money." We were pretty astounded at her reaction. Bottom line, this place is out to sell you a time share no mater what. They don't care about your vacation experience since in their eyes you are here merely as a potential time share buyer. If you are indeed looking to buy a time share, this may be the place for you, otherwise keep away from this extremely unpleasant establishment! read more

First off, they are not that close to places you want to be. Not the worst but if you're thinking about public transportation to Miami or Fort Lauderdale or West Palm Beach, please do your research. (Summer 2010) Ok, so I know this not the most luxurious of resorts out there... But with that being said, this is the very first resort style hotel that I've ever experienced, and yah, I am a fan!! Boy o Boy let me tell you one thing, the next time I'm in town I will Neva - Ever, I don't care how appealing it is... reserve a regular hotel room again... Oh-My-Goosh the massive pools alone was a hit in itself, for the kiddos and me... Our 2 Bedroom Suit was clean and ready when we arrived, the large kitchen area was very useful and saved me lots of $$$. The Publix Supermarket is down the road and is absolutely gorgeous.. The location is minutes from I-75, (you will need a car though, the only downside..) especially if you are a tourist... But other than that I absolutely loved my stay here. This will also work well if your in town for an event and you know the place but don't want to crash with family or friends... it will feel like your home away from home.. As a guest who has stayed three separate weeks over the course of two years I recommend Vacation Village @ Bonaventure because it has nice amenities including a pool at every building, clean apartment style rooms with full kitchens in the one and two bedrooms units, a good location in a nice area of Weston, FL (20mins to Ft. Lauderdale & 35mins to Miami Beach) & is pet friendly! (Pet policy as of March 2010: Up to 2 pets, $75 fee non-refundable + $250 *refundable* pet deposit.) The reason I only gave four stars instead of five is that I'd pursue a location closer to the beaches of southern Florida if it weren't for the pet friendly policy. read more

This place needs to be updated! I felt dirty walking around the unit barefoot , and the bathroom smelt like it had a sewage problem. Besides the actual unit and it's issues the customer service was AWFUL! When you go to check-in they try to get you to buy something, they don't tell you it's optional but I guess if you ask they have to say it is. Then when it came time to check out we were told someone would meet us downstairs at our building which was the HERON I, Check out was at 10:00am (yes , seriously) we came down at 10:03am and she had already left!!!! The first thing about writing a review is to look within and really think about being honest with yourself?! Not that that's out of the way. Yes, I'm frugal and yes I wanted the biggest bang for my buck. $369 + tax and resort fees. What in the world were you expecting? The 4 seasons? Dude! In reality $369 for 7 days will not even get you in a Motel 6. I booked Vacation club knowing that it's a timeshare place, I knew that they make their money from unsuspecting saps. I booked here knowing the distance from the beach is quite a stretch. I also booked here knowing that Weston is completely residential and not that exciting as Ft.lauderdale or Miami. So here's what I didn't know- the 2-bedroom condo was actually 2 fully efficient 1-bedroom condos joined by an adjoining door. My girls and I loved the space and they loved the idea of having their own apt. There was a huge jacuzzi in the master suite. We still had room for at least 4 more people comfortably- with the 2 pullout sofa beds. The kitchen was fully stocked! And washers/dryers on every floor. We were in the sandpiper I bldg and I have to say that this staff there especially maintenance went above and call of duty. These dudes had an immediate response time-from bringing a crib over to fixing the tv ( because my kid messed up the programming) even after hours. Checkout was hassle free- there was a clerk checking people out in the Lobby of our bldg. loved it. The pool was great! Large enough to accommodate at least 30-40 ppl at a time. The timeshare folks never even batted an eyelash during our stay. It is noteworthy to mention that I got this rate through The Armed Forces Vacation Club- military has its perks. This was a week-long stay in an "A" unit. We were assigned to the dated Heron I building. I saw the review comments from management on updated units, but the fact is that we were not assigned a renovated unit, so updates elsewhere are meaningless. The building had an odor that reminded us of college apartments. The heavy metal doors in the lockout units do not close quietly, so there were sounds of slamming doors throughout the visit. The unit itself was large and had a lovely balcony, but still dated. An impressive job with the pictures; they definitely represent the units, but the pictures make them look more modern than they are. Repairs were needed; these are neglected units. For example, one of the screen doors was completely off the track, and the other one was tough to use. Molding under the bathroom counters was loose and could have been easily repaired. The unit was mostly clean on arrival, but the floors in the kitchen and bathroom needed attention. The unit did not include enough towels for a week's stay without a washer/dryer. We usually don't stay at units without washers/dryers, but had hoped to get one since "some units" have a washer and dryer in the unit. Heron units do not; loads of laundry cost $2.50 if you can get an open machine. Unlike most units we stay at elsewhere, the facility did not provide any starter coffee. Here's what was awful: the units are both lock-out units - a main locked entry door and two separately locked doors to access the A and B units. That's normal, but the unit also had an interior access door to the "B" unit. The people in the B unit smoked marijuana constantly in their unit, even though they did not even have a balcony. They might as well have been smoking in our unit. They had young children and were not considerate of having neighbors. When we finally called the office to complain about the marijuana, they said they would call the neighbors. The smell continued until the neighbors checked out. This wouldn't have been as much of an issue if there wasn't the interior door as well. Weston itself is a beautiful, upscale area with nice dining, shopping, and activities within 20 minutes. We drove to the beach for a couple of days, and it's an easy drive. We never felt unsafe walking around the area, and we appreciated the quieter and mostly clean pool area near the building. read more

Still have roaches running around .Had to call 4 times for dishwasher machine detergent finally i texted them and dropped the f bomb .It finally got their attention and within minutes had the detergent. If you enjoy staying in an ant farm, then this is a great place for you to stay. We were here 6 nights in Heron 2 for a business trip. Check in is a pain & at the other resort. We drove around for 15 minutes trying to find it. Then they said our room wasn't ready when we were a day late. They placed us in a room with a pool view. It was supposed to be a perk. Haha. We had loud guests in the pool from 8am to 11pm playing music all nights. The walls are super thin so you'll hear the adjoining room really well. The beds are very uncomfortable & gave me a back ache. The kitchen & bathroom had ghost ants. They were even in all the cabinets & crawling in the silverware. It was very unsanitary. We had to keep all food in the fridge. It was very frustrating & gave me anxiety when sleeping. I told the front desk & maintenance came. They sprayed bug spray that did nothing. I read online that it just makes them scatter. I will not stay here again. read more

This is the worst room we have ever had through RCI. The one and only window (located in the bedroom) has no view, no screen and is to small and high up to enjoy. It also has no balcony. It feels like a prison, dark, dank and very outdated. Stay away! read more

Let me start off by saying that Alan, the representative that checked us in, was very friendly. However, the most important information begins here. What a poor management team. What should have been a simple process for accommodating guests turned out to be the worst experience I've had in a stay. Dealing with lost reservations due to "name spelling typos" and incompetent and careless managers who do not understand the concept of "management or leadership" and who don't even bother to ensure issues have been resolved for their guests (particularly D wood and Cristobal Villao), made this a dreadful experience. Having to explain myself to three different "managers" because there is clearly a lack of communication and organization here, was frustrating to say the least. When these concerns and issues were discussed face to face with Cristobal, he told me "well.. I already apologized". Apologized???? As if that was to suffice. I was in town for my grandmother's funeral. The last thing I thought I would need to deal with was the responsibility that should have been taken care of by this establishment. This place is bad news and bad business. Save your money, time and frustration. Spend the extra money and upgrade for appropriate service from another property. Adequate service shouldn't be hard to achieve nor difficult to provide to your guests. After all, they are the reason why your business thrives or fails. Remember that. Pro. I sit here listening to their overly loud music, with my crying wife, waiting the 2 hours till our shuttle gets here to take us to our honeymoon cruise. Since we got here, we've been told conflicting things, given the minimal amount of information, and been mislead. After sitting through a very condescending presentation with a presenter that negged everyone, with sexist language, watching a video that was made in the 90s and didn't have one person of color or gender diversity, we sat down for the pitch. They bill themselves as a no pressure pitch, but nothing could be further from the truth. After saying no many times they come back with more. They won't give us our vouchers, so we are held hostage. Our vouchers aren't ready, they say(they are sitting in a box where they have obviously been all day, FYI). We can't leave yet they say. When they finally accept that we will not buy from them, they still leave us sitting there, waiting for the vouchers to get ready. Then after all this, they tell us that the shuttle that is to take us to the port won't get here till 2:30. So we will be stuck here for 6 hours all total, for a 2 hour presentation that they didn't tell us about till after we arrived. read more

This place is terrible... do not stay here. Toilets barely flush, handle to patio pulled off from door, dryer in unit takes 2+ hours to dry clothes, some type of construction work was going on that we had to call about because we had sleeping babies. Overall, not an enjoyable stay. read more

We stayed at this resort for two weeks and had a absolute blast. Just a quick tip for morons who get offered free stuff go on presentations then complain about the resort. These people make their living selling time share if you don't want to go on a presentation just firmly decline we have been doing this for 18 years. If they offer you tons of free stuff what do you think they are going to do they are appealing to your greedy nature dumbo. Anyway back to the resort it is situated in the stunning area of Weston. If you don't have a car the resort offers free shuttle service to any close by attractions including to the amazing Sawgrass Mall which is just terrific. The two differant units we stayed in where huge modern clean with free wifi. There are six swimming pools we went to the large one it was clean and had terrific smoothies for $2 . Sure if you want to nit pick you can find fault with anything for us it was just the best the staff were also so friendly. Thank you for such a great vacation. read more

As the past reviewer stated, It is true, do not accept a free breakfast or lunch or dinner. You waste 3 hours of your time where a sales person takes you to breakfast and then go see a 2 bedroom unit then back to the office for high pressure sales to purchase a 34,000 upgrade which at the last moment it is down to 15,990 and a bit less. Breakfast at bonaventure country club was awful and cold also! Exchanging from Hilton HGV to RCI to book in here was a mistake. The place is a dump, we were given building 1 of Heron, unit 107B which is the oldest building over 20 years old. The bed was a small queen size in which we did not sleep for 2 nights tossing and turning, infested with small ants in the kitchen, on the furniture, bathroom, dirty walls and carpet, no bed linens for sofa bed, shower head was bad, wifi sucked... the salesman said that we were in the dungeon... We went to the front desk and I asked for the resort manager and was given the front end supervisor. There were no units that he could move us to and they all had queen size beds, they were totally booked but it was not busy...bullshit! we checked out 1 night early. Do not stay here unless you enjoy bullshit! read more
