The battery had died, and those 90s keys can get stuck inside the fob. Up until then, the dealership was the only place willing to fix it. Aram repaired it on the spot, saved me hundreds in dealer costs, and made it much, much safer for me getting into my car at night after work. Saco was a delight, explaining everything that needed amending on the car without a hint of condescension. Helen was lovely and helpful, even the shop has a great energy. When they've diagnose my issues (maybe 3 times in the last 2 years) they always give me the option to have just the problem fixed, and then another option to have some important maintenance done. Never been pushy about it. I also have never made appointment. Sorry about that guys . They've always gotten my car back to me in great condition extremely quick. Man I love these guys. Wanted to update this review and include a screenshot. Instead of addressing the issue in a professional and respectful manner, Aram decided to send me a text to inform me that he had "zero cares" and that he'd actually increased their labor rates to $240 an hour. Also, both parties didn't choose to "part ways organically", I had to take my car elsewhere because of his negligence and the degree of difficulty I had getting in contact with him when things didn't work out. I had to go to another mechanic to fix the work done at Vaco or risk further damage to my car. I had spend months trying to resolve the issue with him at this point. My intention with the review was not to "hit him where it hurts" but to share my experience with potential customers so they're aware of what they're getting into if they're considering Vaco. I also wanted to give Aram an opportunity to publicly rectify the issues I'd had/fix the damage to my car. Do with this what you will. Owner is a scumbag that inherited the business from his parents and tries to siphon the maximum he can from your credit card. He overcharges people like crazy if you are white or anything other than his culture. He will leave your car sitting there for weeks, especially if its any job thats less than $1000 of work. Guess the smaller stuff doesnt pay the rent over there, so he doesnt give a crap. All I know is I've taken my 560SL there multiple times over the past 6 months and the same issue kept reoccuring. I found another mechanic that fixed it in 2 hours and charged half the price of this jackass. read more

Took my 1980 Mercedes 300D Diesel for a Transmission Fluid Change; however, after hearing how much they wanted to charge me, I was surprised. He wanted to charge me $600 dollars just for changing the fluid and the filter. He is absurd and needs to take shower cause his looked like a homeless person. I took my 1978 450sel W116 which takes double of the fluid and its S-class at my mechanic and they charge me $300. Whereas this guy woulda charge me $600 for a w123. In the end, the owner is not welcoming and honest about his pricing. I don't know why people r taking their car there when the prices r double and he is no even friendly. God bless read more

Recently brought my 300D in for a major overhaul service. New front suspension, rear axles, glow plugs, AC, oil leaks, and other items. Vaco did a thorough inspection, provided a recommended list of repairs, and walked me through each item based on priority. They used genuine Mercedes parts where possible and were super friendly and communicative throughout the entire process. They obviously specialize in older Mercedes' and as a result are super knowledgeable. Along the way they discovered a few other areas that needed work and instead of charging me extra, they just took care of those items for free - such as a valve adjustment (running so great now)! Not to mention, they also detailed the exterior/interior right before I came by to pick it up - above and beyond. It's evident these guys really care about these cars, want to see them on the streets of LA, and have their customers best interests in mind. All their work came with a 2 year warranty as well, which gives me peace of mind and know I made a good investment. This was my first time having my diesel serviced by them and it definitely will not be the last. Vaco is now my go to shop for any services on my 300D in LA. Highly recommend! read more

If I could give Vaco a 10 star rating I would. We own two Mercedes and after being misdiagnosed at Mercedes in Glendale and our own (previous) mechanics missing the issue, I decided to come to Vaco. We will never go anywhere else! Aram is no nonsense, super fair and treats us like we are family. I could share many examples of how he went out of his way to test things over and over before quoting me a price but it would be too long a read. Vaco saved my wife and I over $5000 easily compared to what others would have charged. He backs his work and explains everything clearly. My only regret is waiting so many years to bring our cars to Vaco. Really was surprised when I drove up (walk in) to VACO, I was greeted with a smile and proper attention, for my car and me. Stopped in to get a service B, rear axle brake change, and a rear tire change. I got professional treatment, even though the shop was busy. I received multi point inspection, for free. Making sense, since the shop has been around since 1985. And before that, the shop owners worked on Mercs, in the Orange County area. I appreciate that, as the car was recently obtained at auction. No service had been done in over 15,000 miles in the C250. But, now it has, thanks to ARAM and the gang over at VACO Mercedes. Running smoothly and confidently ever since I got my service B. Stop in if you have a Mercedes-Benz that is owned (not a lease or under manufacturer warranty), if your car has a third party warranty, or if you need an independent and experienced set of hands working on your MERC in the East Hollywood area. I took my car to Vaco for some parts to be replaced (engine mount, spark plugs, pulley kit, brake pads and rotors). I provided them with the parts, and they said were gonna charge more for labor and not give warranty because i provided parts. Ok, i thought it would be maybe 5-10% more, but DOUBLE?! It would cost me more to fix my car at vaco with me providing parts than a high end mercedes shop with parts provided by them (Benzworks OC). This is a "mercedes shop" yet little knowledge to what mercedes i brought in (2013 c63 w204). This shop is for older cars 1999 and older. Don't bring your amg's here. I told aram from when i dropped off my car, i want whats right and fair. He was quick to offer 15% off if i paid cash but that still wouldn't make sense from the ridiculous quote. For all this, 2 star rating is well deserved. read more

Ari the new owner (son of the original owner) is *EXTREMELY RUDE*, intolerable, super unprofessional, and does terrible work. Like others have said, he will make you think he's the best. He will hardly look you in the eye. Very SHADY. While raving about himself and criticizing my previous mechanic's work he said he would remove the old foam under my Mercedes diesel's hood for *free* because he's a nice guy and he wants to help me out. He never did. He quoted me a price for a bunch of work and when I returned to drop off the car he added an extra $400 to the bill, saying he forgot to add a few things. I should have left then, but I let him do the work with the higher fee. My car continued to use up just as much coolant, that I still had to refill the tank bi-weekly. Given that I didn't trust Ari anymore, I took my car to my favorite most trusted mechanic in L.A. who's a lot farther away than Vaco's, and it was discovered that Ari made some significant mistakes: 1) the wrong screws were put on the thermostat 2) housing was not the right part and belongs to an entirely different car 3) thermostat replaced was 87 degrees instead of the correct 79 degrees my car needs. This created too much pressure, causing the car to run too hot, making the coolant leak out. This is the main issue I brought the car to him for and it didn't get fixed. Obviously these guys DO NOT know what they're doing with a Mercedes diesel, so you should DEFINITELY take your Mercedes elsewhere. I brought the car back with the wrong thermostat and screws in hand asking for refund, and when I tried to calmly explain the above 3rd mistake he INTERRUPTED me and condescendingly said "Oh, you don't think I know how a car works. I don't want to hear any of this." A couple minutes later in his office, while waiting to process the refund, I tried to continue explaining the 3 mistakes as feedback so he can have the opportunity to see where he went wrong and improve his work. He was worse than a drill sargent, and anything I tried to say was interrupted and responded with defensiveness, arguing, and shutting me up. Some of the things he said to me super aggressively: - "Okay, okay, I can take jabs all day if you want to throw them at me. When are you gonna stop. But I'm having fun so keep going." - "So what, you think we're robots, you think we're perfect, you think we don't make mistakes, do you ever make mistakes?" - "That mechanic that fixed your car shouldn't put us down. Mechanics should never put each other down because everyone makes mistakes. I don't put other mechanics down." (yet that's the 1st thing he did when he first looked at my car) *One of the father's friends was there and said Ari was an awful person. One of the worse customer experiences of my life. I am SHOCKED at how I was treated by Ari. I have no idea how he has all these good reviews. Perhaps they're fake. p.s. In my tip below I posted a screenshot of Ari ("Aris D.) calling a customer a b*tch for leaving a tip that starts with "DO NOT COME HERE!!!!" Goes to show what an awful person he is. read more

Aram is professional, courteous, prompt, and friendly. It was also the most reasonably-priced shop to fix a Mercedes that I've found. I recently relocated to L.A. and needed to find a good and reputable Mercedes Benz service provider. We visited the MB dealership in Glendale and had an awful experience. I mean AWFUL as in terrible!!! For real. . . I found Vaco on Google and gave them a call. We spoke with the owner's son, Aram, who had a welcoming manner and invited us to visit his shop the next day. I love my car and take very good care of it. It was due for a maintenance checkup and Aram got my car tuned up in about an hour for less than half of what the Glendale Mercedes Benz dealership quoted. I've had my car serviced at the Walter's Mercedes Benz dealership in Riverside for years and was quite spoiled. They perfectly serviced and delivered my car freshly washed each visit.
